Playful Rivalry PV Sarah Lightwood Closed

He felt a wave of relief as she accepted the nickname, yet he doubted he would have listened to her anyways if she informed him not to. It was the type of bond this was turning into as much as he disliked to admit it. It was playful joking around despite how much the other one disliked it. They would learn to like it in a bit, at least that was how he assumed this was going. Either way, he was fond of it. It felt as if he was being practically pushed into a healthier attitude, and to be frank he enjoyed it. It was something he was unaware he needed at the time. He expected it to be left at that until she proceeded to return the favor.

Whizbee, huh?

It caught him off guard. A snappy attitude seemed to desire to develop in his gut, but it was quickly replaced by one of glee. He forgot how much he enjoyed being caught off guard. Every single person was a mystery, and this girl only seemed to be proving it. Except this time, she was not a mystery. It seemed far more like a mutual discussion than anything else, which felt odd. The other person was not attempting to get away and they did not seem to be annoyed. It was a new experience he had been facing as of recent.

Still, His face changed into one of confusion as he attempted to recall what a Whizbee was. The girl knew far more magic things than he did, which he supposed made sense considering he was completely unaware of the wizarding world until the year prior. Still, the word seemed far too familiar. Whizbee... Whizbee... Oh! That was that odd magic treat he had heard had some form of... was it a bee stinger in it? This was not exactly the thing to think of while one had hardly slept.

"I dunno what that is, but I'd like to think it's got somethin' to do with bees." He confessed rather bluntly, not lying for what felt like the first time in ages. "I'll go with it, Toffee." he remarked, feeling proud and snarky he was able to use the nickname.

As she sat down, Ross saw an opportunity handed to him on a silver platter and he absolutely was going to take it. He gently took the trombone by the bell and bent over to put it on the ground in the proper position. He had looked into it the year prior in order to avoid getting dents within it, which if someone was to look closely enough they would notice that there were far too many for a trombone of its age. He then proceeded to place his plan in action.

He put his hand on her head. "You're pretty short, Toffee. Why is that?" he jokingly inquired before taking his hand off her head and taking a seat with her.

He could not help but hope she would provide another outlandish explanation that would leave him grinning and playing along. So few kids at Hogwarts knew how to play along with a joke. A sense of humor was crucial- especially on an empty stomach. Most kids would call him an oddball at this point, which is why he never acted like this around other kids. But right now, he doubted any of this discussion would leave the room. It was not that he was ashamed, but it was a nice change of pace. One slip up and it would get all around the school. Kids only seemed to care what was in other people's business, and to be fair Ross did too.

He couldn't help but ponder her brag. He had hardly noticed the taste- only that his stomach had became slightly fuller. Now he had to try another. As she kicked it across the room, he felt a sense of dread. It was like forgetting a quill when heading to class. his wand was in his dorm. He froze up until it dawned upon him that it hardly mattered anyways. This was not class and he could not get any form of punishment.

"I don't got my wand, so unless you expect me to magically learn wandless then you're outta luck. How 'bout I ask my mum to send some Scottish Shortbread over? It'd be a bit stale... but i doubt you'd mind or anythin'" he remarked jokingly. He glared at the chocolates suddenly, playing off of his own joke and her remark to 'put emphasis on the 'Ah''. "AH!" he screamed at the chocolates as if he were some form of bird. He could not keep his own composure and began to laugh at his own joke.
