The Sorting ceremony 2017-2018

1st September 2017 - 31st June 2018
September 1st, a quite important day. Mostly for each education institution, but particularly for Hogwarts, school of all British Wizards and Witches. It was the comeback to school for the older students and a new beginning for the children that were now old enough to start their magical journey. This evening was extremely important for those children. Upon their arrival, they would have to be sorted into one of the fours glorious houses. Fours differents road, in which, each student would have the chance to flourish into something incredible.
The first year students, it was exactly who Ackerley was waiting for, in the Entrance Hall, near the imposing castle doors. The Headmaster had made it his personal task to welcome the new students into his school. It was something he enjoyed greatly. Hands in his back and wearing his long black and grey wizard tunic, the man was waiting patiently, a kind smile on his face. He had to make a great first impression after all. Soon enough, the two huge doors opened and allowed the man to meet the group of young wizards. It was an interesting experience to see all of those innocent eyes full of wonder. Somehow, this scene, seeing the small, but energic children were bringing back his own first experience in this castle to his mind. Quite an adventure!
Once the students were all inside, safe and sounds, away from the capricious temperature, the Headmaster walked toward them, keeping his posture straight and his fond smile. He took a deep breath and started his annual speech. ''Welcome dear students. I am Ackerley Blackburn, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, I will be your humble guide for this evening. Please follow me and we shall reach the Great Hall. Location in which each of you will have the chance to be sorted in one of the fours houses. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. As most of you must know, each of those houses possesses their own characteristic, their own values. The house that will be chosen for you shall represent qualities that are truly present within each of you. Your future house shall be like a second family. You will also be able to gather points and once we reach the end of the year, the house with the most house points shall win the House Championship Cup! It is a great privilege and merits to earn this trophy. ''
Now that this was said, the man turned around and watched the students. Some were smiling and others had an interrogative look on their face. Ackerley sighed, all would come in due time. Quickly turning around, the man invited them to join him in a small walk, toward the stairs that led to the Great Hall, with a small sign of the hand. The sorting ceremony would start soon. '' Alright, the sorting ceremony shall begin soon, please stay together and follow me. '' By saying so, Ackerley pushed the door that led directly where all of the upper years were sitting. Most of them stopped talking and turned their head in their direction, curiosity was all over their faces. Slowly, but surely, the Headmaster reached the end of the room. There, he asked the students to wait until the Deputy Headmaster walked forward, with a parchment of their names.
Ackerley returned to his sit, in the front while his Deputy Headmaster explained to the first years how they would proceed. Once it was done, The Sorting Hat, which had been sitting on the small stool, started moving and singing:
The Sorting Hat then sang his song :
" A thousand years or more ago
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
For were their such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor.
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
As Slytherin and Gryffindor.
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones, they had to teach.
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones, they had to teach.
While still alive they did divide
Their favorites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When were they dead and gone?
Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!
Their favorites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When were they dead and gone?
Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug about your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've got a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends. "

Once the Sorting Hat was done, everyone in the room applauded him before the silence slowly returned in the location. The Deputy Headmaster started reciting each name on the list, it was now time for them to begin their journey.

Marcus De Wynter, Heir to the De Wynter Family waited for his turn to see which Hogwarts House he will be in for the next seven years 'Between Ravenclaw and Slytherin would be nice, Though mom would probably be happier with Slytherin as will Dad' He thought to himself then blinked as he heard his name called, he nodded then strolled toward the Hat walking with the notably grace of a Pureblood Heir, taking a seat at the stool just as the hat lowered onto his head..
'Ah surprising to see one of your family here once again, Mr. De Wynter, I believe the last time was around ten years after Hogwarts first opened, anyway down to business..Seems you would match rather well with either Ravenclaw or Slytherin like you thought, especially since you are only loyal to those who earned it as for the other house, who I will not name since you seem to loathe that house and those who act critically griffindorish, as you call it'
Marcus nodded hearing the hat speak 'Slytherin would probably make things easier for my goal for allies and friends, as Ravenclaw would be mostly those who focus on their studying'
The hat chuckled hearing Marcus' response 'Indeed Mr. De Wynter, Indeed..well you weren't to hard to sort'...."SLYTHERIN!"
Marcus grinned taking off the hat and handing it over then making his way to the Table of the Cunning, with all the grace of a True Pureblood.

Dear Lianna,
I hope you are well.
Today is my first day at Hogwarts. I have to say I can’t wait to start my schooling there. Father told me I will learn new spells and a lot about transfiguration.
I will write you again to tell you which house i got enroll in. Be careful out there.
Only for you,
Arya
Arya wasn’t sure how she was suppose to feel about coming into this new school. She went to a lot of Muggle’s School in the past, but she just couldn’t get along with anyone. Her mother would probably have told her it was because she was strange.
The heart of the young girl hurts a little at this thought. She loved her mother as any child should but it was different from her mother's side. She hated her for her magical ability. She despise her for being too similar to her father. This is probably why she decided to keep Lianna with her and not Arya.
A sad reality that Arya could not escape. Returning her attention to the teacher talking in the front of the huge room full of magical candles and wizards, Arya was standing in the center with all of the new first years. They were waiting in line to find out which house would welcome them as their new family for the next seven years.
Her dad had told her it would be a great experience, that she would make new friends. However, the young brown haired girl was more sure about the fact that she wasn’t familiar with anything. Everything was new, and she knew nobody. She felt as if she was stuck in the middle of an unknown place with unknown stranger... Exactly like the actual situation.
The children keep walking to the front of the room where each of them were getting chosen by a house. Arya heard somewhere that the hat only choose the house the wizard really wanted to go to. He was making his choice by regarding the life of the wizard, his memory, his personality and his goals. At least, it was what she thought he was doing.
Arya turned her eyes to the front and saw that only two or three students would be chosen before it was her turn. She anxiously took some of her hair in her hand while watching all of the four tables of each house. The blues, the yellow, the green and the red. Which would be the best for her? She had no clues where she wanted to be. She knew she was loyal and that it was a thing most Hufflepuff had, but it didn’t feel right for her to be in that house...
It was now her turn, all this thinking has made the time flow so fast she didn’t event see it coming. She nervously looked around her. All the eyes were on her. It was a moment she won’t forget any time soon. She sits on the stool and waited. There was nothing else to do except relaxing and waiting. The teacher puts the hat on her head.
- Hm... You came from really far young girl... I see many qualities of the Hufflepuff house, but I don’t think you would be using your full potential there... There is also bravery. Yes, a lot of bravery in you. I know which house is the best for you, young foreigner... you will go in... GRYFFINDOR!
The young Canadian was surprise, but if the hat said it, it must be the best choice. The teacher removed the hat from her head and she started to walk toward her new family at the table of the gold and red.
A new beginning for a young witch.
This character is currently looking for her jar of Murtlap tentacles. If found, please return it to the owner.

The sliver eyed boy had seen a few get sorted out. Some were pleased, others was shocked. He didn't really pay attention as his mind doodled faces on the furniture he would stare at momentarily. He wasn't really thinking about which house he would get sorted into. He just wanted to talk with his imaginary friends in the back, but that wouldn't be possible unless he wanted to look crazy. He wonders how things are in his land of imagination.
Then again, what houses are there again? From what he gathered (whispers here and there) there were four. Red, green, blue, yellow- was it? They had names... Names... Hm... Colour coded... He drifted off into a land of colours as he waited to be called upon. He did not move, but he was floating in his mind. Red felt like fire, Blue like ice, Green like acid and Yellow like... well it felt soft but it smelled like food. Now that he thought about it, he was a little hungry.
Sadly, he was snapped out of his thoughts as his name was called. He walked up quietly as he sat down. His twitching did not stop, but he managed to calm it down for a bit. The hat started to talk as it was placed on his head. He listened to some, and pretended to at the rest. It wasn't clear what the hat was talking about but he did catch Ravenclaw and Slytherin on its tounge.
Mumble, mumble... more mumbling. Lex kind of enjoyed the funny hat before it announced his house, Hufflepuff. Huh. He thought Hufflepuffs are friendly, though... He never had long lasting friends. Then again he never went outside. Maybe his friends just forgot him. Did he even have friends? He had his family, and he supposed he considered them his friends- best friends. Another topic to think about.
He managed to snap out of his thoughts again. He tripped on nothing but regained balance as he made his way to the Hufflepuff table. Hufflepuff, Hufflepuff, It reminds him of marshmallows. He must be hungry. Flying
Jr shook his head at him from the corner of his eye. He internally rolled his eyes.
'Weird school. Cool.' the twitchy pureblood thought as he quietly sat down with a neutral expression.

"Yet another Pureblood? What a day, what a day. And a Jones at that? My my. I remember the last time I have seen one of you. It was before the first great wizard war! Your family truly were kings and queens among men!" The sorting hat bellowed to all the students, however, Caitlin kept her eyes on the cobblestone at her feet. She knew her family past well enough to know that it wasn't the greatest. Many of her Aunts and Uncles served the Dark Lord and even helped to kill her Father.
"Where to put you is the question. With intelligence like this, you would thrive in Ravenclaw but you are cunning and have no problem lying to get what you need. Perhaps a Slytherin?" A quick glance at the Slytherin table and she could see many faces with smiles on them that just looked like they were plotting their next move in a game of chess. Her next glance was at the Ravenclaw table where most, if not all, were watching her. Trying to figure out who she was. "No that will never due. Then you belong in GRYFFINDOR!" She sat still in shock for a moment. Gryffindor was the last house she thought she would be put into. However, her mother told her that the sorting hat was never wrong. So she would not question its judgement. So she stood and walked to the Gryffindor table.

If one were to ask Willie what he'd be when he grew up he'd say a lot of things. 3 Years ago he wanted to be a firefighter, saving lives and stopping destruction where it went. 2 years ago he wanted to be an artist, expressing his creativity to the world. 1 year ago he simply wanted to be with his mother whenever she needed him most. Right now, more than anything else in the world, he wanted to be a wizard.
He stared in awe of the Great Hall's magnificence. Candles floated through the air like fireflies in the night while robed men and women dotted the area like gnomes in a yard. It was just like the books his mother used to read to him with stories of elegant unicorns and fearsome dragons. What spells will he learn? What secrets are hidden in this new second world? As he continued thinking these thoughts he heard his name called to be sorted out like the rest. He fumbled forward awkwardly, like a puppet with a single string detached.
The hat was placed on his head and it took all his willpower not to squeal in delight as the hat began to talk. He was so far into cloud nine that he didn't register most of what was said at the start but he didn't care too much, it was time.
"Oh? What is this I see? I haven't met anyone of your blood for a long time, yes quite a long time. I see courage and an infinite supply of energy along creativity in you. Perhaps a Hufflepuff? Maybe a Gryffindor? No, I also see a burning desire for knowledge even in the face of its dangerous maw. I see now that you are a...RAVENCLAW!"
Willie sat there for a moment and processed the information but then a large grin broke out onto his face. With a greater pep in his step than what he had before he went on his way to the Ravenclaw table.
...Where was that again?

Coming to Hogwarts wasn't an easy decision. For years, Sally had been thinking that she wanted to live out her life as a muggle, that she would never join this magic community because she would never belong there. Her mother didn't want to send her, her father didn't care either way. But despite that, here she was, staring wide-eyed at everything, taking it all in. The reason she came anyway would sound completely foolish if she said it out loud - it's because curiousity got the better of her.
'What were you thinking, Sally? Curiousity kills cats!' she thought to herself.
Sally looked on as names were called out and people sorted. The fabled Sorting Ceremony - she had read so much about it. Every great wizard and witch began their journey from right here, right where she stood, and her heart fluttered with anticipation. She could not wait to discover what house she would call her own.
It has to be Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw - that's what she had been telling herself ever since she knew she was coming into Hogwarts. Couldn't be anything else.
When her name was called, her heart skipped a beat. Taking a deep breath and telling herself to calm down, she went up and sat right on the edge of the stool, repeating what she had seen others do.
Fumbly fingers, dont drop me!
"Huh? Oh, I am so sorry," Sally gripped the sorting hat properly and placed it on her head.
Aah what a gentle soul! Curious, I see.
Sally eyes widened. That the sorting hat would see right into her was to be expecetd but it fascinated her all the same.
RAVENCLAW
With a tiny smile on her face, Sally quickly made her way to her house table.

Adelaide tried to hide her amazement as she followed all the other first years through the castle, though she knew her eyes were wide. She had read about the Hogwarts castle before, and had heard a lot about it from her siblings, but none of that did it justice for how amazing it was. She found there were so many things she wanted to look at as she was led into the Great Hall. Addie quickly noticed the long tables that were occupied with returning students, split up by their house.
She looked in front of her as she noticed the other first years start to slow down and eventually stop at the front. She looked as the sorting hat was brought out and started to sing its song. A slight smile was on her face as she listened to every single word that it said. Her time to get sorted was almost there, she couldn't believe it. She felt like she had been dreaming of this moment forever. Adelaide watched as the first boy was sorted, her nose crinkling slightly as he was sorted into Slytherin. That was one house she would rather avoid. It didn't exactly have the best reputation.
Looking over to her side where the Gryffindor table was, it didn't take her long to pick out her older brother from the crowd. He wasn't paying attention to the ceremony and was laughing with his friends. She continued looking down the table more before she found her sister, who smiled and waved at her. Addie smiled back at her, hoping that she would be put into Gryffindor with them. Her eldest sister, who had already graduated had been in Ravenclaw. They always joked that their mother would be in Ravenclaw if she had went to Hogwarts.
"Adelaide Hudson"
Addie took a deep breath in as she heard her name being called, and slowly made her way to the front, sitting down on the stool. She felt nervous as she felt the hat be placed on her head. This was it.
"What's this? Another Hudson? Did we not just get rid of one of you? Where should we put you? Always the question, Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Which one, which one.. Let's see... Ravenclaw!"
Adelaide knew her eyes were wide then, as the sorting hat was taken off her head. She looked towards her siblings who were both giving her reassuring looks. She quickly forced a smile on her face before heading over towards the table covered in blue.

Alex stared intensely at the professor that was explaining what was going to happen once they entered the great hall and how they would be sorted by the infamous Sorting Hat. She was beginning to get a little jittery as she listened to the old hat sing, tapping her foot lightly on the floor. She had known all about this, as she had read Hogwarts, A History before she had even gotten on the train. She just had not known how nerve-wracking it was to stand in front of generations of Hogwarts students as they wait for the group to be sorted.
"Alex Turner."
Her head snapped up as she heard her name called. She couldn't help a light blush to color her face as she climbed the worn stone steps up to the Sorting Hat. She'd dreamed about this moment for so long, it seemed almost surreal as the worn leather hat was placed onto her head.
"Turner? That's a new one. You've got high hopes, don't you? Yes... I can see it all. You'd do well in Ravenclaw-"
"No." She said in her mind, a flood of cold fear entering her veins, uncalled for but still.
"No? There's nothing wrong with being studious, you know. It will get you far."
"Not far enough," Alex responded, knowing that the students could not hear her.
"If you're sure. It'll be... Slytherin!"
An intense sigh escaped her lips and her shoulders lowered before her blue-eyed gaze finally looking out at the rest of the students as she got off the stool and quietly headed for the Slytherin table.

Coming to Hogwarts wasn't a choice for Danielle, her mother and father met there, and her older siblings go there as well. Danielle didn't want to go when she got her letter, just because of the fear of being put into a house, and have a hard time making friends. She went to public school since the age of 3, and it's all she's known. So Hogwarts was a different ball game all together for the girl.
There Danielle was, standing there in the middle of all the first year students scared of what was going to happen. Her older brother and sister said the Sorting Hat...well it knew everything about her. But she was more afraid of where she was going to end up.
She had a feeling in her heart that she would be like her sister and brother. Difficult to place, and difficult to forget. Each of her siblings made their mark on Hogwarts and she wanted nothing more but to do the same.
She was thinking three things:
"Oh another Shafer," The Sorting Hat stated. "Should I put you with your older brother or sister?"
She kept mumbling to herself to calm down, wanting to be in her own house just to be different from them, but she had the same values as them. Intelligence, bravery, loyalty, friendship. So she wouldn't know where she would end up.
"Anywhere but Hufflepuff," She begged seeing she didn't like the colors, that was only reason why she didn't want Hufflepuff. But also her mother and father were Hufflepuff, she didn't want to be like her parents. If anything she wanted to be a Slytherin
"So the question remains just like your siblings before you," The Sorting Hat started, "Ravenclaw or Slytherin or Gryffindor?"
Danielle looked out to see her older brother with his dark green eyes smiling giving her the thumbs up. It was as if he didn't care where she would end up, just glad she was there.
"Want to prove yourself I see, want to prove that you're better than others in your family's past..." The Hat said. "Better be...Gryffindor!"
'Oh my god,' She thought to herself 'I'm stuck with Amelia...' She joked more to herself, she thought she would be Slytherin on the train ride but the Sorting Hat had different plans yet again. Outsmarting her.
She went to go sit down, and did so hugging her older sister thankful she's not in Hufflepuff.
- If she were to go into Slytherin would her family still love her? Even though she was completely different than her family?
- If she were to leave her mark on Hogwarts, how would she do it?
- How will she cope with being away from her home for the first time? And how would she cope with not being with her Muggle friends... She missed them...
