"Mm, you are right though," said Scarlett, looking at her parents talking to some other posh pureblood family. "I'm me, they're them. To be honest, I think I remember they used to be rather nice before all that drama. But yeah. Oh - oh and sorry 'bout not telling you. I only knew like, last month." With this, Scarlett smiled sheepishly at her Hufflepuff friend, who changed the subject to Scarlett's relief.
"Yeah," muttered Scarlett, with a distasteful glance at the hostess, frolicking around being all 'perfect pretty princess'. "Why does she have to be so extra?"
With a sigh through gritted teeth, Scarlett welcomed Lucia's next proposition. Dance? Oh she could dance. Scarlett followed Lucia onto the dance floor, ready to annoy everyone at the ball by doing the Gangnam Style (her Muggle friends from the Muggle side of Godric's Hollow had been shocked when Scarlett told them she didn't know what Gangnam Style was, and promptly showed her - Scarlett fell in love) but it turned out the young Fox daughter had other ideas. Forward, forward, sideways, feet together - what was this, an aristocratic ball? Oh yeah. It was an aristocratic ball.
Ah well. Scarlett attempted to do the foxtrot and her feet fell into a steady rhythm. Hey, it wasn't too hard. But the pair sped up and then Scarlett abruptly halted, sending the two of them stumbling over, though they thankfully didn't crash-land on the floor, cursed with eternal shame.
"That was a rush," laughed Scarlett, mock-fanning herself. "Whew. Is it me or is it hot in here?" She cast a glance at the whirling dancers and the people chatting, all coming together to create a hubbub of noise. "C'mon, let's go get drinks."
It was Scarlett's turn to drag Lucia, so drag she did, pulling her friend over to the bar where a bartender stood, along with some other snobby people. "Hi there, can I have a lemonade please?"
The bartender looked unimpressed with Scarlett's rather vulgar choice of words, especially in the type of place they were in, but nevertheless, poured some lemonade into a flute bottle and topped in with ice cubes, handing it over to her with pursed lips. "Cheers," said Scarlett, grinning and raising her glass up to the bartender, the ice clinking satisfyingly. The bartender just wrinkled his nose.
"Lucia, you order," said Scarlett smiling, nudging her friend forward gently.────── ☆ ───────

Hugh scoffed at the girl's notion of hiding. "I suppose it won't help when a large target such as myself takes a seat next to you." He quipped as he backed his words up with action. "Your father. Is he one of those meanies that locks their daughter up in an ivory tower?" The boy leaned back, hands resting behind his head. A smirk playing on his lips as he spoke. He noticed her eyes sizing him up, given his length, he had to stiffle a laugh. People always needed time with his height. Then again, he was aware of his own face having the oddest features a "normal" child would not have. It would almost surprise him how long it took for himself to realise things were off.
The bowl of chocolates was sure to be vanquished by the girl, Hugh had no intent on interrupting. Smiling instead he nodded once she gave him her question. "I came here for Ana. But I'm not an idiot. These other people do not want me here." Replying without really explaining himself. He did not know this girl, why would he lay himself bare like that? There was no knowing what the girl would be like besides a devourer of chocolate and an escapee from her father's grasp. In fact, he had heard her story before. He seemed to recall Ana having a similar relationship with her parents. Perhaps this was the way pure bloods treated their children. And he did assume the girl to be a pureblood offspring. Unless there was something different to her, something he had not yet discovered. Though he doubted she'd reveal herself to be a part-giant as well.
Her hand stretched out to him, it was comparatively small. His eyes shot up to meet her gaze before he extended his own. "Name's Hugh." Hugh would be careful not to squeeze hard into her hand. His strength seemed to grow over the course of months. The thought briefly occurred to him that Healy must have been experiencing the same thing. Perhaps it was finally time to seek out the giant badger after the holidays. "To be honest..." His voice rose up again, almost taking himself by surprise. "...I don't really know what I'm doing here." A shroud of gloom had fallen across his face. "Perhaps just to make amends. That's as good a reason as any, right?" A rhetorical question. But Sarah was welcome to answer it if she would indulge his mind wandering off a bit. "I don't dance or ever find myself in a festive mood, really." The more he dwelled upon the matter, the more he found himself out of place. "What about you?"

As Florian entered the ballroom, he took in the scenery. The whole room was decorated rather elegantly in luscious gold tones, and wonderous ice sculptures of swans flew about the room. Even if Florian wasn't in the mood to chat, he could certainly appreciate the lengths that the Beckett's had gone through to make this ball one to remember. Especially after the mishaps at the Halloween Ball, Florian was happy to finally be with his people.
However, he wasn't expecting the Butler loudly announcing his name to the guests in the ballroom. "Now announcing the young Florian LeRoy, of the LeRoy Horse Racing Empire in France." Florian almost jumped as the announcer's voice boomed across the ballroom, and some guest's eyes turned to look at the young boy. 'No, no, no...' Florian thought as he quickly put his head down and ran down the stairs, his glass in hand still. Great, now everyone here would know just who he was. It would make introducing himself easier, but honestly, he wasn't in the mood for all the Pureblood hubbub that was sure to take place tonight. Why did his parents even drag him here if they weren't going to talk to him?? Ugh.
He decided to hide amongst the many tables of food, hoping that no one would notice... or perhaps talk to him. However, as time passed, he found himself growing quite bored of simply people watching, and decided to talk to a boy who appeared to be having as annoyed of a time at the ball as Florian was.
As annoyed as Florian was, he was certainly going to try an impress anyone he talked to. He strode over to the other boy, holding his glass of cider just as sophisticatedly as he had seen some of the adults hold their champagne glasses, and said "Bonjour, ah, I mean, hello there." He paused a moment to take a sip of his cider, after quickly realizing he was in London and that most people at this event probably spoke English. "I'm Florian... No doubt you heard the announcer tell you already." A hint of annoyance was in his voice. "What's your name?" He paused again, waiting for the boy to answer. He surveyed the room, watching some couples dance while others chitchatted at the tables to each side. He turned back to the boy and said, "This... this ball is a bit boring, no?" in a rather cocky tone while rolling his eyes. He didn't want to be here, and his trouble-maker instincts were starting to kick in. Perhaps this boy was interested in having a little fun?

The Father: #000040 | The Daughter: #400040 | The Mother: #800040As the party's hostess returned her family's sickeningly flattering greeting, Silver watched the girl closely. She didn't seem to necessitate the formality as much as the American girl's parents did, but her words also had a certain grace to them that made clear that she could be as proper as need be if she wanted to. Perhaps getting closer to her would be more enjoyable than Silver had originally expected. She seemed to be less of a useless idiot than most of the Hogwarts students, at any rate, and her fortune, rumored to be massive, did little to dissuade Silver from seeking Anastasia as an ally. Or a friend, really, but the girl, taught well by her mother, only let her mind explore that possibility for a mere second before sternly snapping it back to the politics of the evening. She smiled at the hostess, admiration, both real and faked, clear in her eyes. Just then, a soft laugh from a different side of the room caught at her attention, and she turned to see what was going on.
The sound was coming from a group of huddled children, and as she gazed at them, the boy amongst them looked away at a different part of the room. Interesting. In any case, Silver's attention was drawn back to her parents as her mother turned to her father and began to whisper something in his ear, but another quiet burst of laughter urged her to observe the boy again. Again, the sound seemed to come from him, and was followed by some sort of comment from him to the girl at his side. Narrowing her eyes at him, Silver left her parents' side and walked purposely over to the bar.
"Good evening," she said as she neared him. Her back was straight, her head up and eyes sharp. Her mother would be proud. "I saw you staring earlier, and figured we might as well become formally introduced. My name is Silvia Ventress;" she held out a hand in greeting, "and you are?"

A Winter's Ball
There had been no knowing how the night might go, and after all, it was still young. There was ample time for some mishap or other to occur, but what mattered then and there- starting the eve out on a perfectly positive note- was the grace with which Anastasia accepted them. More importantly, accepted Pericles' father. The patriarch had calmly yet firmly explained the very real possibility of his presence proving "problematic". Though he appeared willing to receive rejection with dignity and grace, the mere prospect had been a thorn of anxiety in the heir all evening. Whether Anastasia truly meant it, or was just an incredible actress, her kind words were enough to dispel a great bulk of unease from young Peri. His face brightened with the warmth of his smile, toothy and sweet, eyes doing more to convey his gratitude than the calm, controlled tone he took. "Thank you," he murmured, mellow voice lined with relief. Gaze flicking for Willow once more, a hint of cheek curled the corner of his mouth. Her mere presence was a bold statement he was happy to stand besides, a real dash of water in the face of the outdated tradition of exclusion. "And if I may say, you ladies look radiant."
But before he could dwell too long in the moment, the fast-paced nature of the gala was sweeping him along. A rather rowdy girl was making faces at the hostess, something that visibly took him aback. Eyebrows arched and lips parted in mute shock. Peri sought the stare of his father, mutely seeking his guidance. Isaac still stood at a modest distance, foreboding features smoothed by a neutral expression. The only thing he offered was a simmering sense of amusement. Should he catch the hostess' eye, he would offer a deep bow of his head, but otherwise the heir was on his own. Peri cleared his throat softly, offered Anastasia an apologetic look for her troubles, and tried to encourage her. "I'll leave you to your other guests, so I might enjoy the gala fully. A beautiful night to you both." With that, he handed off the sack of favors to an attendant and wove his way back through the crowd to his father's side. Resisting the urge to place a paternal hand on his son's shoulder, Isaac folded palms behind his back and walked close alongside him. The undead patriarch said little, though the warmth of his smile radiated pride, resonant baritone oozing approval. "Well done."
Pericles was but a boy of twelve. He had yet to be jaded into a state of nihilism, nor burnt out by the cruelties of the world. There was already a frightening amount of children who didn't seem to want to be here. He maintained his grasps of wonder and optimism, equally entertained and understanding of the posturing these events required. The first milestone was safely behind him: a favorable brush with the hostess, cornerstone to these things. Now he just had to survive mingling without any bores or blunders. The Dralt gentlemen seemed to glide through the gathering, their bold black and gold ensembles- along with ghostly hair and pale features- setting them oddly against the vibrant array of colorful guests. A drink was to be procured. Drinks made for important effects. One could seem perfectly preoccupied if they were busy drinking, and a sip made for a sensible break in conversation. Isaac, as was to be expected, made no order. Pericles casually requested "The hostess' preference, please." It would come as a surprise that Anastasia Beckett's drink of choice was, of all things, coffee. The wide-eyed look Peri placed upon the steaming mug suggested hesitation, even wariness, and when offered cream he accepted a generous amount. Well, too late to go back on it now. He held the mug in both hands, gradually becoming better at not making a face each time he took a sip. Isaac leaned in, murmuring a question, and the lad began to scour those nearby. It was then that he spotted it: a most magnificent bonnet, which led to a face so singular, there was no way his eyes might be deceiving him.
Xailah Alptraum was approached by the distinct duo, one of which was chatting excitedly. "...from the train!" "I recall." A gloved hand raised as they waded closer through the crowd. "Xailah!" Pericles smile was bright, and he coasted like a ship lured by a lighthouse from uneasy seas. Isaac loomed behind, eyes half-lidded and fixed with interest on his son's target, evidently enjoying the opportunity to see this sort of affair from the perspective of someone who wasn't utterly "over it".
Well-wishing Ana & Willow, headed to bar with father, waving at Xailah having first big boy coffee

Draining the rest of his tea, Charles placed the cup behind him on the bartop before eyeing the bartender and speaking " non alcoholic mimosa," watching the bartender take his time rather on purpose he snapped " today idiot," switching from english to Russian was naturally to him as he took his drink from the bartender and took a slip retaking his spot next to Katherine and Iris.
Watching the ball goers, Charles spotted a familiar boyFlorian who he despised and wished that he took the chance to hex him during the broom race. Leaning over to Katherine, Charles would give a smirk before whispering to her in Russian "that is Florian 'cocky annoying childish' Leroy. That boy thought he was all that during the broom race, whispering about it in French although I told him about it," watching him again before whispering in Russian again, "let's hope someone hexes some sense in that head of his or he'll land in azkaban which that sounds pretty good for the rest of us."
Laughing silently towards Katherine before going back to watching the group again, his eyes landing on his brother who was of course taking in the spotlight and advantage of being the next head of the family. Charles took a slip of his drink and ignored it as a smaller and younger girlSilvia walked up to him, the girl seem to speak to him and ignore Katherine regardless Charles just commented on her being 'the perfect pureblood daughter' and saw her as less then Katherine and him so instead he completely ignored her and whispered to Katherine in Russian, " want to make a deal Kath?" giving her a smirk before continuing his whispering in Russian, "spill your drink on that while speaking another language."

Katherine had just heard Charlie's comment, at this point, she saw it, how could she be fooled by such things she responded"I was alone I had no date, he was the only available option but now I see it he's such a smuck", she grinned about what he said next about that girl he was looking at, whats with the galaxy ball dress.
" I don't know if her parents told her shes their star and she took it seriously, but she didn't need to wear the whole galaxy on her dress and she does look too desperate", she eyed him and grinned god this was too amusing she could go on for days. Then Charles spoke something in Norwegian Katherine didn't attend their lessons she wasn't invited.
But she didn't take it seriously she just ignored it she had her attention on cash, she was engaged too god damn Katherine spoke"at this point, I'm starting to feel left out both of you are engaged and I'm all alone, I should just get one to match both of you, I'm joking obviously it must suck plus no man can get on my level nor deserve me I'm too high for them",
she had her devilish smirk on and took a sip of her drink and of course, cash had to comment about her heart well, to be honest, Katherine doesn't like showing emotion in public, her face turned from a smirk to stoic in a few seconds no emotion in them just sharp icy eyes and a stoic face. she looked in front of her and spoke to cash"well don't get used to it, you'll probably never see it again I was in for the first time a good mood, its quite rare but as I said you probably won't see it again",
Katherine just smirked at her comment and returned back emotions on her face but still keeping her icy eyes sharp Katherine nodded when cash left, She just concentrated on iris and Charles, a bit more on Charles since she was a tiny bit closer to him than iris. she responded on iris comment about her grandparents" Ah ok",
Katherine continued ignoring that iris was just talking to Charles, finally, Charles didn't forget that Kath existed she looked over at the really huge boy he was talking about she grinned and spoke"Maybe he thinks he can get every girl he lays his eyes upon whats with his outfit why is he dressed like the muggle expectations of a magician you know with the ridiculous coats I bet you that it'll end up sweeping the whole ball",
he talked about another girl now different one she spoke" she looks like the annoying type I wouldn't be her friend", she grinned and had the same devilish smirk on her face, he had talked about the same girl before but instead added the drink and Katherine just grinned and responded to the next comment about escaping the clutches of our families.
"Well to be honest my family is quite scary and intimidating even the butler looked like he nearly peed his pants when he read our names then saw us, but other than that I'm alright", she grinned then smirked. Katherine spoke "if you ever broom race in Hogwarts you gotta tell me I wanna see you maybe if ur lucky ill even cheer for you",After a few minutes the girl with the galaxy outfit had come, but from the looks of it ignored Katherine.
Katherine had a stoic face on and sharp icy eyes intimidating anyone who saw her she took sips of her drink, she was talking to Charles only ignoring mostly Katherine who was she to do that, definitely someone who is rude and definitely stupid, she caught her name Silvia well quite a weird name not sure it sounds nice on the tongue too what was the word ah manly and rough. even for a girl.
Katherine looked straight in front than before turning she slowly heard the words of Charles and god it was music to her ears, it definitely intrigued her she gave him a devilish smirk yet still looked in front of her scanning the crowd, she spoke"fine ill do it only if we do something to deal with your brother, after all, you really are just making a deal with the devil, alright? good deal", she walked away before Charles could even agree or say a single word or mumble.
she definitely noticed Charles staring at his brother for a few minutes and fresh bruise marks on his hand it looked like a set of nails, Charles did mention his brother at the beginning so it was technically a favour. If Charles doesn't stand up for himself then somebody else is gonna do it and that person is Kath.
She had always felt a connection with Charles maybe had the same events but sometimes he has to step up for himself especially to his prick of a brother, so obviously, she's just gonna have to give him a slight push. She walked away with her cherry rose mimosa no alcoholic drink in her hand and walked to the other side of the ball took one small sip of it and waited for a signal from Charles to when she can bump into that girl and spill her drink over her.
its gonna be one hell of an interesting night, she made sure she didn't look suspicious just normally walking off to the other side to give them privacy well not for long at least.
Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

"I'm going to need all the luck," Iris murmured, "And lessons from a formal dark wizard sounds... intimidating," She searched for the right words for a moment. The fact that so many bloodlines had direct dark wizards was disconcerting on a good day. There was some dark wizardry far back in her bloodline, but as far as she knew, besides a few distant uncles, there wasn't much.
"So, Kath, what have you been up to this break?" Iris asked. She realized that her and Charles' conversation hadn't been all-inclusive. The struggles of sitting at a bar. It was Iris, then Charles, then Kath. Any conversation from the two ends was hard and being in the middle meant Charles was constantly maintaining two conversations. Iris looked back out to the crowd as Charles leaned back over to Kath once more.
Katherine stood up and Iris watched her, now intrigued. It seemed like Charles had sent her out to do something. But what, she wasn't so sure. It was sure to be entertaining in the least. Iris had somehow gotten herself into the group of non-stuffy Purebloods. Not that they all were, but Charles and Katherine were entertaining. They were willing to push the boundaries and chance getting in trouble.
Iris scanned the crowd and spotted her grandmother across the room. They made eye contact and her grandmother gave her a piercing gaze. One that Iris translated clearly. She should be talking to a boy, making her presence known. She should be rehearsing some of the hundreds of conversations they had practiced.
Repeat after me: 'Hello, my name is Iris Kingston'
'Of course I live in a castle' is a perfect response to those who doubt your bloodline.
Your parents are a disgrace, you are to say that your parents died in a magical accident.
No, child, stand straighter. Speak clearer. No one can understand Norweigen. Its a lazy language.
Child. You can't expect to go off into the forest the instant things are imperfect. You are a LADY I expect you to act like it.
You would not recognize discipline if it smacked you in the face.
You are hopless, child.
Useless.
A waste of time.
Iris heard dialogues repeating over each other. Insults twisting with lies, breaking her down. The intent was to break her down so she could be rebuilt. The rebuilding had yet to happen. Iris wasn't sure who she was anymore. Was she the reckless girl in the forest? Was she the proper 'princess' descending the stairs? Was she the smart-mouthed teen at the bar? A headache welled up in Iris' mind and it was all she could do not to dart off. Charles had been all too accurate with his bet.
Iris tucked her arms across her stomach. Her attempt at a proper smile melted to an impassive expression. A numbness swept over Iris and she continued trying to tame down the voice in her head.
"How did you deal with it?" Iris asked Charles quietly, "The finishing school stuff. Was it... harsh for you too?" She heard the childishness in her voice and hated it. "I just can't think of anything else,"

Regardless of if @Santario Martin followed the Procoppios back into the Manor or not, Ami would be dragged along with her parents into the warmth of the party venue. She could vaguely hear them chatting about the stock market or something as they entered the Manor, passing through the foyer (which I'm just going to gloss over, nothing interesting going on there) where Abella left her capelet before the family moved towards the announcer man.
[Ana, DM me if I got something wrong about the announcer, and I can edit it]
Ami stared unabashedly at the balding old man at the top of the stairs to the ballroom as he conversed with her mother about their names or whatever. He looked so tired... poor man.
"Mrs. Abella Marie Procoppio, Mr. Lucas Procoppio, Miss Ami Procoppio-"
"Are you assuming my gender?" she said sharply, her angular features morphing into a harsh glare before her face split into a grin. "Nah, just joshin' with ya, brother. You rock!"
Staring at the American girl with a somewhat exasperated expression, he finished, "And Mr. Scout Procoppio. Please, enjoy your evening."
As the family made their way to the heart of the ballroom, Abella exclaimed out loud, "Goodness! Anastasia's really outdone herself this time, hasn't she... oh, I'm so glad you all get to see how wonderful these parties can be. I always enjoy myself at these, you know." Truly, the petite blonde woman seemed to truly be in her element, with the skirts of her dress practically floating as she bounced across the dance floor excitedly.
Trading sidelong looks with one another, Lucas and his children followed after her, Ami on guard duty to make sure Lucas didn't accidentally roll over people's toes and/or skirts. It wasn't before long until the bearded man spotted the bar, however, and he whispered to Ami, "I'm gonna go get your mom and I a drink, wish me luck," before rolling away into the sunset... towards the bar.
Sighing loudly, Ami reluctantly caught up to her mother, Scout still on her hip. Finally, Abella managed to catch sight of Anastasia, practically dragging her daughter over to the young hostess.
Carefully and politely sidestepping through the crowd around Anastasia, Abella french-kissed her- no, that sounded wrong. Kissed her french-ly? Whatever the term for it is, Abella pressed her cheek to both of Ana's in the way that French people do it in the movies. "Anastasia, my dear, oh you look wonderful... the blonde really suits you, and you know what they say, blondes always have more fun.." Laughing lightly and patting her updo cheerfully, she beamed at Ana with pride in her eyes. "Oh, goodness, look at how fast you're growing up... hosting a gala, already? You're putting the rest of us all to shame! You look stunning, darling, seriously. Lucas has your gift, although he's gone off somewhere, hasn't he... well, I shall have to give it to you later, then."
Ami was much less elegant than her mother, rudely elbowing and shoving her way past some nervous-looking blond kid who smelled like new money and dressed like fake royalty. "Hey, kid, watch where the hell you're going," she snapped at him, as if it was his fault that he was attempting to have a conversation with Anastasia. "Heya, Will! Good to see ya!" she said cheerily, grinning at her fellow Hufflepuff by Ana's side. "Ana, you cow, I almost thought you were a life-sized Barbie doll, but you look baller- dear lord, here's your best friend. Please take him," she groaned, thrusting Scout out towards Ana.
"Anaaa!"

A Winter's Ball
Mod Post
The music has changed slightly, still appropriate for waltzing, just a bit grander and less festive. Another hour has passed, making it already nine in the evening. Many fashionably late attendees enter and a fair amount happens in that time.
Anastasia greets her guests and thinks about coffee. Because that is absolutely what a good hostess does, right?
Alec Mason and his family are announced, although the young heir evidently felt less than happy about that and the event in general. Granted, something like this, mainly revolving around Purebloods congratulating themselves for ruling the world, is a bit of an acquired taste. Charles Alluring is another example of someone who is less than pleased to be in attendance, although he doesn't exactly keep this to himself. His efforts to obtain scotch earn quite the stink eye from the bartender, as does his threat of an Unforgivable curse. The next person (Iris Fields) to ask for a drink requests something more age-appropriate after she and her family are announced and enter the ballroom. Katherine Labrouder shares some interesting commentary on other ballgoers and arranged marriage. Cash speaks with Charles and Katherine for a bit, before seeking out Kazuo Shimada and requesting that he act as though they were speaking to get their mother off their back.
Lucia Fox sees a certain redhead(Scarlett Aden) and hostess interacting and does what any sane person would do - separate them as quickly as possible. The inevitable fight seems to have been avoided. For now... Scarlett seems less than pleased about this turn of events, but for the moment, things are relatively peaceful.
Santario Martin is less than impressed with her dance partner's departure but brushes it off to get sparkling grape juice before moving outside. Hugh Lowe enters the Gala, likely drawing at least a little bit of attention, due to the fact that he is seven feet tall. @Sarah Lightwood certainly notices his height. Hugh and Sarah interact.
Katie Palsorette exchanges small talk with Lindsey Springhall. Michael Miller leaves his mother and greets Anastasia. Florian LeRoy was announced, much to his chargin, and then decides to strike up a conversation with Alec.
Silvia Ventress greets the hostess, before making her way over to introduce herself to Charles and his companions. Pericles Dralt also speaks with the hostess and Willow for a few moments, before departing for the bar to get coffee and speak to Xailah.
Rolls
Ami Procoppio and co arrive. Her father rolls off to get drinks, leaving Ami and Abella to greet the hostess, at which point Ami shoves Micheal to hand Ana Scout. Acc - 1d20+12 = 30, Eva - 1d20+4 = 10, Ami strength roll - 1d20+15 = 20, Michael strength roll - 1d20+6 = 10 -> Ami successfully shoves Micheal a few feet As one does at a high society event...
Reducio
OOC: I will continue posting every two weeks to signify another hour passing. The ball begins at 7 p.m., it is currently 9 pm, and I am planning on it going until 2 a.m., however, this may change depending upon activity. All rolls are done in the bot-spam channel of the Hio discord for those who are interested. Please do not do your own rolls for any type of attack or roll worthy action (punching, shoving, casting a spell, throwing something, etc.) Also, please include your actions in your post. You may post as many times as you like in between my mod posts. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me! Enjoy!
