"That's a loaded question Wyatt." Alec stood up and began to pack again. Wyatt liked it better that way. They didn’t have to look at each other. Alec asked, "Why do you want to know if I'm okay? It's usually the other way around." Wyatt hmphed. He hated it that way. Not that he was a people person and liked being a protector, but he’d much rather be the one helping than being helped. “You don’t seem… yourself,” was all Wyatt could say. He couldn’t help but feel it was his fault that Alec was down.
"If you need to know, I'm really not that upset. Just a small thing bothering me."
Wyatt didn’t believe that. Losing Cookie was a small thing. But the way Alec was living in slow motion for the past few days felt like something much more important was happening. "Clifton isn't coming back to Hogwarts this year." Clifton, Clifton… that was the… blonde kid they’d met at the ice cream parlor? Alec’s friend? Wyatt realized he couldn’t sympathize. He’d never had a real friend before (who wasn’t a snake), so he couldn’t possibly understand what it was like to lose one.
"It's stupid to care as much as I do, really. I'm just worried about his safety. He wasn't allowed to tell me much more than I needed to know about what was going on. I can't even owl him now, that's how bad things are." Alec stopped suddenly before speaking up again. "This is why you shouldn't have asked, though. I overthink too much and it blows stupid situations out of proportion." Wyatt hated this habit of Alec’s. He always talked himself down, and didn’t know when to stop.
Wyatt sighed. “That sucks. I mean- it’s just. It’s bad that this is happening to you- Merlin, I sound like a robot…” another sigh followed and Wyatt put his face in his hands for a second, trying to put together a sentence.
“What I think I’m desperately trying to say is your sadness is valid… and I don’t think you should feel bad about feeling.” Wyatt chewed on the inside of his cheek, wondering if he said the wrong thing. He just didn’t like seeing Alec sad or distraught. Before he could stop himself, he was talking again. “I’m sorry about Clifton. It sounds like you two were close?”
He posed it as a question. He wanted Alec to share stories about good times.
Hopefully that would cheer him up...

The conversation turned in a way that confused Alec. Really, he'd expected Wyatt to make at least some sort of snarky response, or rude comment whether it'd be about Clifton or Alec was another case entirely. But instead.. What was that..? Sympathy? Out of the Wyatt Starkey. I mean Alec had gotten sympathetic.. Or at the very least, kind responses out of the boy before, but this felt different. Even if it was just Wyatt saying he sounded like a robot which he didn't sound like one by the way. And here yet Alec could not find the words to describe how else to put it, so robot would do. His new words after such, while before they had given Alec enough time to analyze what Wyatt had said, and give a response in return, Alec didn't speak. Wyatt seemed to have much more to say himself, and Alec couldn't think of any words.
The shock value with Wyatt's words hit Alec once more with what he'd said next. The first part of what Wyatt said was somewhat expected, but his last words hit as confused Alec in the face as Wyatt spoke them. Alec felt defensive about the matter right away, wanting to argue with Wyatt on the matter as well, Alec didn't, and wasn't, and.. Alec shook his head, moving on, choosing to ignore the last part of Wyatt's word. No arguments are needed right now, Alec thought as Wyatt moved on speaking again. Asking if Alec if him and Clifton were close. Alec didn't speak as he silently put the last thing in his trunk before closing it. Alec let his eyes catch his wrinkled bed sheets, staying where he stood as he attempted to figure out words to speak.
It was honestly like he'd forgotten how."I-er.. No." Alec said, not realizing the possibility of this confusing Wyatt because the no wasn't to Wyatt's question, it was too Alec's wording. Words were stupid anyway. They could enhance one's ability to communicate, making their words enchanting and easy to understand. And then there was Alec, he had no limit to the possibilities and meanings to the words out there, yet had nothing to say. So Alec simply went with the words that came to his brain. "I don't know, I guess? We were close.. But not talking like this about serious stuff type of close." Alec said as he shrugged, a better expression of his unsure words. "We hung out after classes all the time, always had something to talk about. First friend who saw me after our petty attempt at a fist-right. He got upset over the psychopath thing, as I've mentioned. I got too hung up over the whole thing to begin with, psychopath is just a word, it doesn't mean anything if it's not true." Alec said, his voice going quieter and softer as he spoke till he finally went silent again.
The response to him in his head played the second he'd finished speaking, 'But if you're affected by the word enough to have to convince yourself of this, something is clearly up.' meaning there's a part of you that believes it. Which was something Alec did not need to delve in on now. Alec swallowed as he began to speak again, "Can we talk about something else?" He asked.

"I-er.. No." Wyatt was sort of confused with what that “no” meant, but it seemed like what Alec meant with his “no” was… he was critiquing his own wording? Alec was strange like that sometimes. "I don't know, I guess? We were close.. But not talking like this about serious stuff type of close." Alec shrugged. Wyatt suppressed a smile. It was funny to him that Alec was even suggesting that Wyatt was a "better" friend than Clifton had been, though it was possible he was just a different kind of friend.
It was still odd to the Snake that he actually had a friend to begin with. And that friend was Alec J. Mason. The boy who, just a few months ago, he would consider his sworn enemy. "We hung out after classes all the time, always had something to talk about. First friend who saw me after our petty attempt at a fist-right. He got upset over the psychopath thing, as I've mentioned. I got too hung up over the whole thing to begin with, psychopath is just a word, it doesn't mean anything if it's not true."
Wyatt clenched his jaw when he heard Alec talk about the whole psychopath thing. Obviously Alec wasn’t over it, and obviously there was something that he was hiding surrounding this trigger, but Wyatt didn’t want to poke that bear. If Alec said he was done talking about the psychopath incident there was no reason to drudge up a sob story. "Can we talk about something else?" Sometimes Alec had the best ideas that even Wyatt could agree with.
The Slytherin nodded. A second later, he added. “But what would we even talk about?” He questioned, honestly wondering. “Have we ever had a lighthearted conversation?” The answer was… no. Sure, the thing where Wyatt played guitar so that Alec would show Wyatt his drawing, but that wasn’t really lighthearted though was it? It was more of an exchange of blackmail between them, just in case. Or at least that was how Wyatt saw the situation, since they weren’t really friends at the time.
Wyatt looked at Alec, wondering what the Lion was feeling. Everything would be so much easier if he could just read minds, wouldn’t it? It would save so much time. But they had enough time, right? What, with being twelve and all. They had a lot more years left than Wyatt was okay with, really. Apparently, it wasn’t a rare occurrence, witches and wizards living to be over one-hundred. Even though they had so much time, Wyatt felt like he was running out.
Would they just stop being friends the second they got to Platform 9 ¾? Would Alec forget about him? Why did that make Wyatt feel so sad? So much to say, but such undeveloped social skills to work with. Wyatt couldn’t even name his feelings most of the time. Alec probably thinks I’m crazy, he thought. Speaking of Alec, Wyatt just remembered he’d been staring at the Gryffindor the whole time. Wyatt immediately averted his gaze to the floor. Oh, wow. Luggage. So interesting, yes. Brown suitcases.

But what would we even talk about? Alec had quite a few ideas for what it was worth. "How about we ask each other questions? We'll take turns. We were doing it earlier but, simple ones this time? They can be sort of deep. But mostly things like favourite colour, or food We've never really gotten to know each other like that." Alec said his voice coming fast as he started, and slowing down at the end.
Have we ever had a lighthearted conversation? Came next, the obvious answer to the question without looking into it too much was no. Everything terrible that had happened this summer seemed to be what they'd bonded through. It was nice to actually have someone to talk to. It felt less lonely, even if he was disliked by the person during the start. Alec had always tried to keep things to an extent lighthearted, but their conversations either got deep, or turned into arguments. Alec didn't have much of a comment to add to that. Alec moved to look back at Wyatt, Alec finally having finished packing his trunk, moving of it off his bed, only to notice Wyatt staring at his own luggage. "Unless the luggage is more interesting thing to talk about? Your staring at it like your life depends on it Wyatt." Alec said as he rose a brow questioningly in Wyatt's direction, the situation somewhat humorous to Alec after having to talk about such deep things. Though it was moved quickly on from as Alec knew they had better things to do with their time then discuss why Wyatt was being odd this time.
If Wyatt had made no move to state any objections to the questions offer Alec would go on to ask the first question. "What would your perfect day be like? I'm assuming something completely different from anything that's happened here, it's been a terrible summer." Alec said, letting a smile edge on his lips. At the very least, this terrible summer was going to be memorable. "After you answer you can ask me a question, even though like I stated earlier. I realize there are very little things you'd ever need or want to ask about me." Alec added, the smile on his lips faltering slightly but still staying there as he spoke. Wyatt was an interesting person. You wanted to get to know him, and get to know how he thought, and why he makes the actions he does. There was simply just never much to ask about him. Alec's answers to questions always just felt so stereotypical. Stereotypical to what? Alec was left unsure. Maybe Wyatt would find a good question to ask Alec despite it though, it was unlikely, but Alec had better things to focus on. Like Wyatt's answer to the actual question, because that was one of the things Alec did want to know.
Even if a perfect day for Wyatt meant Alec possibly leaving him alone all day. Alec was determined to figure out what he could do to make up for the terrible summer in the first place.

"Unless the luggage is more interesting thing to talk about? You’re staring at it like your life depends on it Wyatt." Wyatt’s eyes immediately darted up. He felt like an AI being taught how to act human. “No,” Wyatt said. “It’s a good idea.” Wyatt didn’t know what he’d ask Alec. Certainly nothing too deep or personal, Wyatt didn’t really want to get there this early… or at any time of the day. He felt uncomfortable during those types of conversations.
Apparently, Wyatt would have time to figure out what to ask, as Alec asked the first question. "What would your perfect day be like?" He asked. "I'm assuming something completely different from anything that's happened here, it's been a terrible summer." Whenever Alec smiled, it looked like he was glowing, Wyatt noted. A smile was a good look for the Gryffindor. Wyatt blinked, then looked down, not wanting to stare Alec down as he thought of a response.
Alec’s voice met the Slytherin’s ears. "After you answer you can ask me a question, even though like I stated earlier. I realize there are very little things you'd ever need or want to ask about me." Alec said it as if he weren’t interesting, which was furthest from the truth. Wyatt just wasn’t skilled enough to carry a conversation. Wyatt snuck a quick glance at Alec, looking up then looking back down. His smile had disappeared. Wyatt felt somehow responsible.
The summer had been painful, yes, but if anything, the presence of Alec J. Mason only made the hell easier to endure. He was there for Wyatt after the fight. Well, it wasn’t much of a fight. Not as much as it was a Wyatt-got-beat-up-and-was-pathetically-rescued-by-Alec, but he was rescued nonetheless. Wyatt couldn’t remember if he’d thanked Alec for saving his life yet. He felt guilty for Alec’s pain. Alec didn’t really take his pain seriously, it seemed.
After all this time, Alec still seemed so concerned for Wyatt when he obviously needed his own shit to be sorted out. The least Wyatt could do was answer the Gryffindor’s question, right? It seemed pretty pointless, at least from Wyatt’s point of view. Why would anyone care to know what Wyatt’s perfect day was? Wyatt had never considered the idea of a perfect anything, knowing more than anyone that perfect was a myth.
But, Alec wanted to know how Wyatt’s “perfect day” would play out. “You know when it rains on a cold day, but you’re inside? And you can hear all the raindrops hitting the roof?” Wyatt’s eyes, still glued on the floor, went a little glossy as he recalled the peaceful feeling. “I’d spend that day inside with someone, just talking, laughing, maybe.” He blinked and looked up at Alec with soft eyes. “I just don’t really know who.”
Wyatt cleared his throat. “What about you? What does Alec J. Mason’s perfect day look like?” He asked, desperate to escape the spotlight even though it was only the two of them in that room.

Alec gave a nod in affirmation to let Wyatt know he'd been listening. "Not sure if I can conjure up a rainy day, nor the perfect human to bring a laugh out of you. But I'll be damned if I don't try, otherwise really, what would magic be used for?" Alec asked though wasn't looking for an answer. While there was a joking sort of wording in his response, Alec felt determined now. How he was going to get that to actually work out in his favor? That was beyond him at the moment, but like out of the many lists of things he wanted to do, it would be accomplished, eventually. Wyatt's answer reminded Alec of the pattering sounds against his window during such a day though, the mud puddles within the aftermath, the freeing feeling that was the rain against Alec's skin. Contrast to what had been his home life, feeling stuck, it felt quite liberating to be just out there in the rain, even as he knew he was likely to get told off by someone later because he could've gotten a cold, and the least he could've done is to wear his robe. Days like this meant Alec would likely leave to the courtyard at some point during the day, and end up back in the castle later soaked and freezing, yet a grin plastered on the shivering boy's face. It made him want to do such the second he got back to Hogwarts, and it rained again.
Alec watched as Wyatt cleared his throat and spoke. Slightly uncomfortable, maybe? Anyway, so they could move on. "Alec, Wyatt, just Alec. It sounds better without the J." The influence of Wyatt on Alec showed, even if it wasn't quite so obvious. Although at the very least it did sound significantly better without the J adding onto it. There was also the talking to himself in the small hall that Wyatt ended pretty quickly as well, of course not without every painting around the castle now knowing every single detail of his personal life. Yes, Alec would admit it there, mistakes were definitely made. But he was going to be a second year now, while doomed to the possibility of a lonely year. At the very least he knew that one corner in the library there was a space of his own.
Alec's perfect day, though? Far beyond anything Alec had ever put much thought into. This time he was coming up with an answer for such a question on the spot. "Going out to the park, you know, Greville? But instead of sneaking out, I'd be allowed to actually go. I'd get everybody in my family to go and invite a few friends." Alec's gaze seemed to steady on Wyatt, as if he were one of those friends Alec would invite. "-We'd have a picnic on the large grassy area of the park. It'd be a sunny day with a cool breeze. After eating I'd be allowed to run off and hangout with my friends instead of being told to watch over Jackie unlike usual. Crazy ideas getting shot down but still suggested, stupid prank ideas that would never work out but sound fun, interesting conversation, cheesy jokes, and simply just talking." Alec's gaze while still on Wyatt looked far off and almost dreamlike, though there was a pause into thought and the response shattering the dreamlike expression in his eyes, but Alec went on. "Everybody would be happy, no arguments from my parents, even Nina would be enjoying herself. Something to give me just enough motivation and confidence to attempt sketching the park, and that scene." Something to give me such nice moments to replay in my head. Alec's gaze wavered, "Of course, it's highly unrealistic. And yours is at the very least achievable." Alec added as if brushing off the question and very personal answer completely, for it was not to dwell on, because it simply wasn't.
"If you could only accomplish one big thing in your life, what would it be?" Alec asked. From what Alec had seen, those big life long goals were what motivated people. They were what made them tick. The type of goals that motivated and inspired O's in classes and getting house points around school. What was Alec's? The twelve-year-old wanted his art to be sold, though if it was any reality, years down the road. He wanted his art up in an auction with the big names, and his clothing ideas out there on the modern stars. He felt like he had something to prove, he wanted to show people he was more than the stuttering boy who'd been locked up in his house most of his life, he wanted to make it big, he wanted people proud of him. He wanted his mom to declare with the biggest grin he'd ever seen that this was her son who had gone and done it. Unrealistic no matter how hard he tried it would be, he'd probably end of working for some boring wizarding company that the most idiotic products he'd ever see, and call it genius, but a guy could dream, and Alec would.

"Not sure if I can conjure up a rainy day, nor the perfect human to bring a laugh out of you. But I'll be damned if I don't try, otherwise really, what would magic be used for?" Wyatt chuckled lightly as the realization hit.
“Did you really ask so you could make my “perfect day” a reality?” Wyatt said, in a tone that was certainly too judgy for a response to an incredibly kind gesture. Really, it was the kindest gesture anyone had ever made toward Wyatt. The kindness was still unfamiliar. Uncomfortable. Alec was too nice. The Lion was your textbook perfect human being. He cared. He was empathetic. Understanding. Creative. Attractive…
“What about you? What does Alec J. Mason’s perfect day look like?” Wyatt said after clearing his throat, itching to put the spotlight on someone else for a change, even though it was just the two of them in that small bedroom.
"Alec, Wyatt, just Alec. It sounds better without the J."
For some reason, Wyatt felt cold hearing Alec say that. It was like Alec was ripping up a little piece of himself. He really liked the J. He had to, right? There wasn’t a time Wyatt ever heard the Lion introduce himself as anything but Alec J. Mason. Granted, he hadn't been around him too much to really know. Still, it almost reminded Wyatt of a proud knight whenever Alec would introduce himself as his full name. Very Gryffindor of him. Left behind.
Wyatt knew it was somewhat his fault. At first, it sounded incredibly stupid to the Snake. He never cared for middle names, believing they were just stupid and pointless. If he were being honest, he still thought that way. But Alec was impressionable. Anxious. An overthinker. He certainly cared more about what people thought of him than he should. The Slytherin knew his words likely had some impact on the Gryffindor’s decision to drop the J.
"Going out to the park, you know, Greville? But instead of sneaking out, I'd be allowed to actually go. I'd get everybody in my family to go and invite a few friends." Wyatt would be a fool to miss the fixed stare Alec had set on the Snake as if to say, “you would be there.” Wyatt couldn’t help but feel as though he didn’t deserve Alec’s friendship.
As Alec continued to describe his perfect day, Wyatt noticed his gaze seemed softer, cloudier. Dreamlike. It was clear he was somewhere else. In the memory that wasn’t yet created. Wyatt knew it was a very unlikely scene, and began to regret asking Alec what his perfect day would be. It was silly how a happy family seemed impossible. Unfair.
“Something to give me just enough motivation and confidence to attempt sketching the park, and that scene." Wyatt watched as Alec returned to Earth. "Of course, it's highly unrealistic. And yours is at the very least achievable."
Wyatt sighed. “Maybe...”
"If you could only accomplish one big thing in your life, what would it be?" Alec was a quick thinker. This question stumped the snake far more than it should’ve. He never thought about his future before, never had to. There wasn’t a big goal he’d looked forward to. He was driven by nothing. His eyes slowly fell to the floor.
“Not sure. I don’t mean to be boring, I’ve just never thought about this before.” He sighed again. Then he thought of something. What would it be like to have a family of my own one day? Just someone to love and look after. To take care of. To hug. To teach. To learn from. He chuckled.
“Maybe- no it’s stupid.” Wyatt ditched the thought of telling Alec rather quickly. Alec would probably be so confused as to why a twelve-year-old was thinking of a future family. “Never mind. Doesn’t matter.” He said, shrugging as he thought of what he’d ask Alec next.
“We’ve done enough of these semi-deep questions. I want something really simple… like… What’s your favorite color? And if you say red and/or gold, I swear to god.”

Alec watched as Wyatt seemed to struggle to answer, before realizing instead Wyatt was struggling to tell his answer. Before brushing it off a lot like Alec had only minutes ago. From Alec's own impression, Wyatt's gaze seemed to go soft for a moment, thinking thoughtfully, before his stiff resting face appeared. "Alright, though it can't be as stupid as the accomplishment of listening to Baby Shark a million times, but so be it." Alec's response almost seemed to be implying it was his own answer. He made an effort to give Wyatt a side-smile, "Sadly, I doubt I'd make it past the 100th time. Those muggle songs are hypnotic and weird, they've got to be rotting your brain from the inside out or something." The joking around felt natural, this time not coming from terrible situations, nor silence and awkwardness. It was pretty nice for a change. That's finally when Wyatt asked his question. Reminded Alec of that one Hill-arious joke he told.
Alec looked amused at this, and he shook his head as he looked over at Wyatt. "Red and gold? My Gryffindor pride is low, sir Starkey, and that's besides the fact red and gold are bland." Alec said, he let his eyes wander his room and away from Wyatt. Shades of blacks and whites covered the bedsheets, pillowcases, and walls. The tiniest of holes in the wall could be noticed if you looked hard enough, from all the sketches that had been pinned up to the wall, but taken down at the start of the summer, still not put up. Rarely people stayed, therefore Alec left them up. It covered the bleak spots of the wall. Which was simply just the blank wall in general, .That made him think too much. While none of the rest was his own decoration choice, there was a homey feel to the bleakness of the whites and blacks that covered the room. Maybe part of it was knowing his mom had taken the time to pick it all out and make it look nice. "-And overused, because Gryffindors have a problem with putting Gryffindor pride all over Hogwarts.." Alec said pausing before going on, "The blues and purples of the world are much easier on the eyes."
The colors reminded him of when his sister gave him a flower, nothing extravagant, simply garden picked, but it was the efforts. Her doing this out of a list of many things to cheer him up was what made him keep that flower. The crumpled, shriveled up, hidden away flower. Personal, yet stupid, he'd still kept it all this long. She was still little then, there was no way she even remembered giving it to him.
Moving on from the question that Alec had answered, he asked a simple one back just as quick. "So, anymore hobbies other than guitar?" Or thinking about it now, not so simple after all. Wyatt had been just as private with his playing guitar, as Alec had been with his art. Or at the very least, the more personal sketches that had been done before Wyatt was here. Alec surprisingly did end up going as far as to sketch Wyatt. Which speaking of, what ever did happen to that sketch?("Once the sketch had been left on Wyatt's bed Alec practically ran down the stairs-") Whatever happened to it, it was gone now, maybe it fell somewhere under something? Either way, he did not want to relive that messy morning. So we shall move on from the topic. Hopefully to be cursed by the strangeness of the world, and somehow, simply somehow! Have to relive that again, or anything close to it. Not that, and definitely, and hopefully not ever again.

"Red and gold? My Gryffindor pride is low, sir Starkey, and that's besides the fact red and gold are bland. And overused, because Gryffindors have a problem with putting Gryffindor pride all over Hogwarts."
Wyatt chuckled lightly in the form of a sharp exhale out of his nose. Merlin knew how much those bloody Gryffindors loved to parade around the school in their stupid red and gold scarves, pins, ties, handbags, and hats. They were really just rubbing it in that they (thought they) got into the “best house”, even though it was very clear Slytherin was the greatest. But that was a discussion for another time.
"The blues and purples of the world are much easier on the eyes."
The corner of Wyatt’s lip curled upward into a small smile. Despite what most people would assume, Wyatt’s favorite color wasn’t black, grey, or green. It was purple and had been since he could remember. There was something so pleasing about the color. It was beautiful in any setting. It could take on emotions as you were feeling them. Unlike blue (sadness) or red (anger), purple didn’t have any set feeling attached to it. Purple was up for interpretation. At least Wyatt thought so.
"So, anymore hobbies other than guitar?" Alec seemed to understand Wyatt’s “simple questions” idea. Though Wyatt couldn’t help but think he was too boring to be asked about his hobbies. Music was really the only thing he cared enough about to pursue longer than five minutes. He never cared for sports. Or academics. Or reading. Or… baking?
Of course, he did remember a time where all he did was draw. In fact, he’d done a few drawings in his first year. But that fizzled out. The only time he drew in recent days was when he was anxious. And drawing while anxious never led to drawings of pretty flowers in a garden on a beautiful summer day. It usually led to strange sketches that meant nothing.
But Wyatt had nothing else to say. “I used to… draw sometimes. Never anything good just little sketches.” He remembered he had a few. He knew where. He grabbed his backpack from beside himself on the bed and opened it up. Looking inside he saw a few pieces of paper. Picking one up, he noticed it wasn’t his, but that sketch Alec had left on his bed that one morning. Wyatt smiled at the sketch. It was really good. But if Alec wanted to talk about it, he would’ve handed it to Wyatt himself.
Wyatt tucked the picture away again, safely, and found one of his own. It was a funny one to him, just the odd way the person was drawn. In scribbles. He couldn't remember who it was that he drew. It was probably no one. She looked as though if there were more time and care put into drawing her she could’ve looked like a real person.
He handed the little piece of parchment to Alec.

It took a long time again for Wyatt to answer, so long Alec began to wonder If Wyatt was even going to answer the question. Speaking of the question, what were Alec's hobbies? He drew, sewed, did some writing as well. But what else was he good at? Did you even have to be good at things to count them as a hobby? Otherwise, he was already going to have to remove some things from the list. He played gobstones.. Although upon reflection wasn't very good at it. Reading? Did that count as a hobby? He did a bit of that, not much during the summer since the vast selection of five books of his own had been read too many a time. Meaning the reading stayed at Hogwarts. Yes, Alec could probably ask for books from his parents if he really wanted, but his mother was very intimidating, and his father always seemed to be all sorts of busy. Alec wrote, more like journalled, Alec did swear though that this one would come in of use, eventually. Mostly if adult him wanted to make fun of younger him, and all of the stupid things he did, and of course adult him therefore would need a record of every stupid thing Alec has done.
When Wyatt finally answered, Alec looked up, listening contentedly as Wyatt spoke. He drew? He almost didn't seem like the type. This was Wyatt though, always full of surprises. It reminded Alec; he wanted to hear Wyatt play again. But asking him to do it was going beyond what Alec would do. They were closer now. But if Alec still felt unease with showing his art to others, especially Wyatt, wouldn't it be the same? Alec then began to wonder how hard it was to actually play such an instrument. How long did it take to learn how to play? Alec had heard others play before, but with Wyatt playing it had felt different. Maybe it was just the "blackmail" involved in the exchange? Alec shook his head, letting his mind fall back to reality, only to realize Wyatt was holding out a piece of parchment towards him.
Alec blinked before he came to the realization of what was going on and flashed Wyatt an awkward smile. Before gently grabbing it to get a closer look. It was drawn in scribbles. The point of a person seemed to somehow yet convey through the work. The face felt curious, yet judging at the same time, was that even possible? Alec smiled at it, he rather liked it. Alec moved to give the drawing back just as he noticed his own sketch peeking out of Wyatt's backpack. It seemed in well shape, Alec looked relieved at this, not only that he knew Wyatt had actually found it, but he liked it enough to take some sort of care over it.
When Alec finally actually reached out enough to give the drawing back to Wyatt, he looked away for a moment to gather his thoughts before looking back. But the second he'd looked away he noticed an uneasy spot in the paint on the wall, it looked like a bunny, Alec having to try to ignore the easy distraction. "It looks nice, Wyatt. The style is unique, especially in the way of being able to convey a person through scribbles. I'm not sure I'd be able to do that." Alec said, but the wording should've been more along the lines of Alec wouldn't give himself the artistic freedom to do that. "You should give yourself more credit." They were completely off-topic from everything now, but Alec seemed to be too invested in the conversation to care. Alec wanted to show some of his art now, and even ask to see more of Wyatt's, but maybe that was going a bit far. Alec would show his less personal art, more of cookie maybe, none of the lonely room here when Alec was by himself. The other point was Alec didn't know if Wyatt would be comfortable sharing more of his on. Alec didn't want to ask.
