A night for beginnings
[Special Note: anyone can reply to this thread, the ball is open to all students. Though Michael will be focused of mostly P.U.R.E. and M.M.M. members]
February 12 marked a nearly uneventful day. It was a Friday, so he was finished with his classes for the week, as he set up the decor of his ball. A vase made with a candle in the middle of white and red roses on each table, white with gold trim table cloths on each table. He had a student playing the piano, just in case a partygoer was early.
If you would have asked Michael what he thought would happen with the club when he was making it he would have said that it wouldn't get a single member, now? It had many, so much more than he ever thought would come.
A month had pasted since the creation of the club and he had grown to like the club members, all of them, even Eden who seemed completely ready to bail on it because of the others. He had a few ups and downs along the way but the ball was a way to make sure everyone got along. MMM and P.U.R.E. were invited, and he reminded himself to watch the door for people to greet.
He had asked the house elfs to help with the food, each eager to please. He had bow ties for them to wear if they wanted, though only a quarter had choose to. There was just 2 courses he was going to serve in the time of the ball, the main and dessert.
At the moment, he was by the door, a small thing of red and white roses in his hands, for any couples. Then he waited, eager for what the night held.

February 15, Enid had received the invitation for the ball tonight. When the Herbology class end, Enid ran back to her dormitory. After taking a bath to wash off the dirt, Enid put on a dress. This dress is her birthday present for ten years old. The dress is her favourite white colour and it was given by her dearest father. After turning a few times in front of the mirror, she realized that something was still missing, so she decided to wear a pair of pearl earrings, Enid obviously prefers pearls even that emeralds have the same color as her eyes. After Enid put it on, she felt that the high ponytail did not match the outfit, Enid put down her hair and tied a small bunch of it with a white ribbon on the left.
Her actions were a bit reckless because she felt she was going to be late. On the way to the ball, she almost fell two or three times. The people around were not surprised by this, after all, Enid had always been so flustered.
When she reached the ball, She had seen the founder of her club ——Michael Miller. After tidying up, Enid walked towards Michael then showed her iconic big smile. "Hi Michael, am I late?" She said. After seeing no one else around, she realized that she had misremembered the time again

A night for beginnings
Kara arrived to the ballroom in a light pink gown quietly, almost nobody else was there. Kara herself had been invited by her somewhat date mate. The two weren't official yet, so she was hoping that the two would make it official here at the ball. In order to try and help herself on Kara's part, she bought a bouquet of roses and a box filled with some of Cassie's favorite candy, Nerds and Hershey's Kisses.
Cassie beforehand had explained that she was part of a club called P.U.R.E, and it was mostly a club full of purebloods, so now Kara knows about Cassie being a pureblood, and she was kind of intimidated by everyone else there at the ball, even though there were only two right about now. Kara honestly didn't know whether she was scared of these people, or honored to be around them. Since Kara had little to no information about the wizarding world, purebloods may be like royalty! From her accusations, she also felt unsure of whether Cassie would accept her confession or not.
Kara placed the things under a table, hoping to hide the items till Cassie got here. Whenever Cassie did decide to show up, she'd signal them over to the table she was sitting at and gesture to the chair. When Cassie would come, she smile at them softly and say "Thanks for inviting me here, and might I say, you look beautiful!"

Henry was figuring out how to tie a bow in his dormitory before the ball for the club P.U.R.E which his rather close friend; Michael Miller was the leader of and that Henry was a officer on. The boy didn't think he was even going to the event but after a defense against the dark arts class and a semi awkward conversation with a fellow slytherin dueler, the twelve year old was now going to the ball as friends with Opeila Winters a girl that he barely knew which meant there would be awkwardness for sure.
Once finished with the bow, Henry looked in the mirror and thought his suit was okay. The theme was love and the boy didn't own any white suits so he had to write to his brother whom thankfully sent him one of his old ones even through it was a bit big but that wasn't the problem. The problem was his brother was sent a corsage only to amp up the awkwardness between the second years for the night. So Henry grabbed the corsage and after a warily looked toward his feline friend; Loki, Henry started on his way toward the ballroom.
He couldn't help but think about it Cash was taking anyone and who? He remembered that the purple haired slytherin had quite the list of crushes and lovers in the past so he wondered who they were galing tonight before wondering if Michael will have a date also that night.
Arriving at the ballroom, Henry decided to wait outside and out of the view of the door so no one could see him as he waited for Opeila Winter's.

Being a Gardener, Eden had experienced a lot of ceremonies, feasts and balls. Far more than his years living. For every single one of them, he always wore a completely new outfit, and he was for sure not going to reuse any of his old ones for such an important date. Especially considering that there were going to be students around his age to impress. Not that he didn't already have the charm and charisma to do that, but looking good at such glamorous was more than just formality to him at this point. It became a tradition.
And so he remained in his little corner, away from the prying eyes of the Hufflepuffs that surrounded him every day. Wearing, tucking and fixing the numerous materials he was putting on himself. Lace, velvet, fine rich silk that felt like what heaven would feel like, golden embroidery and jewellery that was more worth than the lot he lived with at Hogwarts. He even had a golden brooch ready, sitting on the side of his bed. It was the gift his mother had managed to secretly gift him this past Christmas. His father didn't allow him to receive any presents for the first time in forever. It was all because of the fact that he didn't make it into Slytherin, and ever since, his father deemed him as worthless. Worthless of presents.
But after countless of hours spending time on looking perfect, which didn't take much effort, Eden was ready. He posed in front of the mirror, swung his arms from one side to another, galloped around like a golden horse, his black cuffed boots sounded like the trots of one. Before he put on the priceless pin, he made sure that the long shoulder pads that reached down to his legs flowed majestically. His silvery-white hair was styled in a manner where not even one singular hair was out of place. The scent of fresh roses left its odour trailing behind him as he left.
A white rose had left the common room and made its way to a respectful location. The Ballroom. He could hear the relaxing, beautiful music from a few steps away.
However, things had already seemed to not go as planned. There was a particular acquaintance waiting outside. All dressed in white and black - like a sheep. So boring, so uncreative. Eden couldn't keep his tongue still the second he walked by him.
"Is that really the best you could come up with?" He clicked his tongue a couple of times in disappointment.
"I really did hope that at the very least, you'd look good for just this one night. I would be willing to share some expert advice for next time-" Eden shifted a bit closer to the second Henry he had met at Hogwarts, (one was worse than the other, but just as problematic), and proceeded to calmly whisper in his ear "-from one pureblood to another," and then stepped back to his previous position, "but you know, we all chose whom we associate with and not. It almost feels like you've made that decision already. A real shame." And with that, Eden trotted onwards into the room, without the consistency of having to wait for anyone.

For once, Sarah was excited about a ball. It was perhaps only the second time in her life that she’d been overcome by the strange feeling – the first being when she and Paisley had gone to the Fall Ball together. For the young Slytherin, most formal events she’d attended had been business propositions in disguise, or events in which only the elite were invited. And unfortunately, they were often held at the Lightwood Manor, hosted by her father, and attended by only the most bigoted on Pure-Bloods. She allowed herself a moment to consider whether anyone of ‘lesser’ blood had ever even attended one of her father’s events. She drew a blank. Not that it was a surprising revelation, her father not one to mix with those he deemed below him.
But this was different. The ball Michael had been planning was to be full of mostly likeminded students who didn’t share the prejudices that her father and his peers did. Of course, there was the odd exception, those who had assumed the P.U.R.E. club had been an excuse to talk bad about those whose blood wasn’t pure. But they were the minority. Her experience of the club so far had been overwhelmingly positive and so she was excited. And despite her usual pessimism, she hoped the ball might go smoothly, without the hitches which usually accompanied events at Hogwarts. A wishful thought, perhaps, but she had clung to it as she’d readied herself with the others from her dorm who would be attended this evenings party.
Having spoken to some of the other members of the club, she knew the majority were taking dates, though Sarah had opted to go solo. It was a decision made in part because of her lack of partner – no one who had caught her eye enough to warrant an invitation to the ball. Except for maybe- she stopped the thought the moment it started to surface, still in a considerable amount of self-denial in regard to a certain Gryffindor. It would end badly, that she was certain of, and she wouldn’t start something she already knew she’d live to regret. Regardless, she’d decided to go alone mostly because she simply didn’t feel the need to go with anyone. Going against convention was practically a pastime of hers now, and apparently it extended to not taking a date to a ball. She could practically see the look of disapproval on her father’s face. It made her grin inwardly as she walked the corridors to the ballroom.
She allowed her mind to wander as she made her way to the ball, curious as to how the night might unfold. Her hope for it to go smoothly was still there, though as she drew nearer it was starting to falter. It was Hogwarts after all, and in her year and a half of being here she’d quickly realised that nothing went ever went exactly as planned. Whether that was in the form of fires and giant spiders, or fight and ghosts on horseback, there was always something.
Had she not been so far inside her own head, the Slytherin might have noticed the odd looks being thrown her way by the few students loitering in the corridors. Not that they would have bothered her. She was used to being stared at, having obnoxiously bright hair ensured that, so curious eyes didn’t often bother her anymore. If people wanted to stare, she couldn’t stop them. And if a girl walking the school corridors in a floor-length gown on the way to a ball, then who were they to judge. She’d had enough judgement to last a lifetime, despite her age, and didn’t allow it the phase her anymore. She tried not to let it phase her at least.
The sound of gentle music her first sign that she had almost arrived, just before she turned to final corner and the ballroom doors came into sight. She allowed herself a moment to take a steadying breath, flicking a stray strand of hair back over her shoulder, before approaching. Immediately, her hope for a peaceful night plummeted as she caught the tail end of a clearly rather disagreeable exchange between Henry and Eden. She rolled her eyes at the Hufflepuff as he walked away with seemingly little regard for whatever Henry’s response might be. Ignorant bastard.
“Appears his royal highness is having another one of his hissy fits,” Sarah said quietly as she passed Henry and walked into the ballroom, sending her fellow Slytherin a quick wink. She forced herself to relax as entered, allowing her eyes to drift around the food-laden tables and piano forte sitting to one side of the room. It was nothing overly extravagant, but lovely all the same. It’s clear juxtaposition to the balls her father usually hosted more than welcome. She came to a stop beside Michael and offered him a genuine smile. “You clean up well,” she said to him with a teasing grin, before quickly adding, “and this all looks wonderful.”

Kazuo had been quite amused by the invitations that had been sent out to the students from one Michael Miller, a previously unremarkable student of House Slytherin. A ball for pure blood children, to replicate the parties they would inevitably be required to attend when they were older. Some, like Kazuo, had already attended their fair share.
It made him curious. Did Michael understand the true purpose that lay beneath the veneer of societal posturing? Outwardly, these events were thrown to show off wealth, to show off eligible sons and daughters, to remind the other purebloods that they were still relevant. Yet his mother had taught him that beneath that shiny layer lay the true purpose of attendance - politics.
A bit of research into the club had amused him even more. A club dedicated to celebrating the shiny veneer that hid the swamp beneath. How could he not attend? So he had sent his acceptance and now was standing before a mirror, studying his reflection with a critical eye.
The long black kimono that he had donned was of fine Japanese silk, embroidered in reds and golds, beautiful bursts of color in the shape of maple leaves. The obi he had chosen was a heavy brocade in gold with a deep red obijime running over top. The bow was simple, as befitting a man. He attached a finely carved fox shaped netsuke and beautifully lacquered inro. Though no longer commonly worn, they were traditional and gave Kazuo a place to store things if needed. Into the sleeve he slipped his wand, tucking it into a pocket sewn for just such an item. A fan was tucked into his obi and feet slid into a pair of black wooden geta. One last glance in the mirror and he was out the door, geta clattering across the stone floors of Hogwarts.
As he approached the ballroom, he spotted Henry with a boy he didn't recognize and slowed his steps, watching their interactions. Henry had dressed himself in a respectable looking white suit while the other boy truly emodied a puffed up peacock. His nose twitched as he grew closer, a miasma of rose perfume wafting about the peacock. He pressed his sleeve to his nose, supressing the urge to sneeze. As the boy finished berating Henry, Kazuo approached with an eyebrow arched.
"He seems like a sparkling ray of sunshine," Kazuo spoke with amusement in his voice. "I don't think a boy who looks like an extra from Game of Thrones should really be judging other peoples' outfits." He gave Henry a grin before continuing on through the doors.
Eyes darted around as he stepped into the ballroom, taking in the elaborate decor. They finally landed on Michael Miller, the host and Kazuo graced him with a bright smile and a respectful bow.
"Miller-san, thank you for the invitation. The ballroom looks lovely. You must have put a lot of effort into this event."

Michael was used the ballrooms and the ladies in fancy dresses and men in nice suits. He was used to the music and to the dances done, and the pretty decor. Michael was used to it all. it was normal.
But this one wasn't. It was more than just any ball, it was his own. As many greeted him, Enid, first with worries that he answered with, "No you are right on time", then Sarah, with greeting and compliments which he looked down with a smile, his cheeks flushing, "Thank you, you look beautiful." Then as another boy came up, "Thank you, glad you are here." He saw his friend, waiting on his date probably, then Eden, looking dressed far better than himself. Michael smiled and nodded towards Eden as he saw him, before deciding to get his violin and play a song himself.
The boy walked around the ballroom and up towards the stage, getting his instrument that was hidden behind curtains and beginning to play in the rhythm of the piano. tonight was going to be great, he thought.
The realization that he had asked Percy and Paige to the ball had not hit him, yet. But before the night was over, He'd have bruises that showed that he realized too late.

But little did she know she wasn't the only one Michael had invited.Paige had waited all month for this day. What she couldn't believe was that she had someone to go with. Michael Miller. The owner of the club. How great was that? When her mom found out, she sent her the dress all wrapped up and Paige did her own hair. She had silver eyeliner and red lipstick. That was about it. She heard girl chatting about in her dorm. She originally didn't want makeup. But they made her put it on when she told them she was going with a boy.
She slid on silver flats. She was ready. She walked down that stars, carefully. I'm nervous. Very nervous. She walked to the ballroom, and saw many people waiting outside. She saw Eden, and decided to look at one of the paintings on the wall in till he walked in. She waved to the friendly faces in the hall. A couple of minutes later, Paige walked in. She hugged her arms and looked around with awe. This was her first ball.
She saw Michael and walked up. "Hey" Her face was a bit pink. "I'm not too fancy, right?" She looked down. "This is my first ball. I usually never have any one to go with so, thanks."

Waiting at the top of the main staircase on the Fourth Floor for his date @Haley Rose so they can enter the ballroom and attend the P.U.R.E Ball

When he first got an invitation to the P.U.R.E. Ball, stating that he could bring someone along, there was one particular person who came to mind. He had befriended many students at Hogwarts within his First Year so far but there was one girl in particular that seemed to brighten his day whenever he caught a glimpse of her across The Great Hall or passed her in the corridors.
Arriving back from the holiday break, he took a chance, and while catching up he decided to take the risk and ask. It wasn't any fancy sort of way, and he did regret that as she deserved more, but he was grateful that his redheaded Gryffindor affection accepted.
From there, the two prepared. They practiced dancing in the corridors of the Third Floor, discussed attire, and just got to generally know one another more. With each day that passed, bringing them closer and closer to the P.U.R.E. club's ball, Simon was growing more excited.
He now stood where the two said they would meet, at the top of the main staircase on the Fourth Floor. Simon had gotten there ten minutes ago, a little bit overly eager to see her and enjoy this evening that was ahead of them.
For some, it was an event to officially spark a school club. For others, it was a reason to get to know their fellow clubmates. For Simon Kincaid, this was an excuse to spend the day before Valentine's Day with the girl that he fancied. He would await her arrival patiently, smiling and greeting those he knew as they passed by on their way to the Ballroom.
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)
