Masterpiece
Spencer walked into the rehearsal room, all of her songs in one hand. In the other, she held the note that she had written with the time to meet up. Earlier, she had sent one to Paige, but wanted to arrive early so she didn't make Paige wait.
'Oh jeezums, I hope she got it. I hope she comes. Maybe she doesn't want to hang out. Oh sweet lord.'
She sat down with her guitar, which had been swung around her, and age old memories started climbing their way to the surface.
"I wonder if I still know the music. God, a couple years will change so much. I know you guys can hear me," she told the portraits.
"So, while I wait, I'll try and play you guys a song that I wrote. I haven't played it in a while, but I can try. Here goes nothing. This is called 'See You Again' and I really hope you all enjoy hearing it."
She moved to play the first chord, but cringed away when the discordant notes rang out. Spencer repositioned, and started again, getting it right this time. After strumming for a few beats, she started to sing.
"I'm sitting here,
Wishing that you were still around.
I never knew
You would be the one that I let down."
She played the rest, only stopping the couple of times she made an error.
" That was 'See You Again.' Thanks.
She took in the applause, then smiled to herself.
"Could use some piano. Maybe I'll ask Paige when she gets here."
With that, she smiled again, strumming absent-mindedly as she waited for her friend to arrive.
