QUILL PALS
Writing to Quill Pal @Lucia Fox
Hi Lucia,
I'm Grace, a first year from Gryffindor. I have been paired as your Quill Pal. Since we don't know each other a lot, I will do a small introduction about me.
Before coming to Hogwarts, I attended a muggle primary school, and we just learned the usual stuff. However, my parents were also wizards, so I was lucky to have an idea of the Wizarding World before I became a part of it! The Hogwarts acceptance letter was no surprise to me, but it was hard to leave the muggle world, especially since I became very attached to it in my childhood.
Anyways, I'm glad that they have paired us for Quill Pals, it helps with making friends, especially for someone new like me! So Lucia, could you tell me about yourself? I like to say that everyone has a story. What is your story?
Lastly, I have some questions for you:
1. Do you have relatives who are also magical?
2. Were you surprised when your Hogwarts acceptance letter came?
3. What are your interests?
4. Where is your favorite place at Hogwarts?
Finally, I hope we will have a great time writing to each other.
Regards,
Grace.

QUILL PALS
2nd January 2021
(The letter was sent on the third.)Hello there,
Quill pall? I'm sorry, I never signed up for that, you must have got the wrong person! Maybe try-
So, apparently my sister signed me up over the holidays to get back at me for stealing her History of Magic book. It's not my fault I can't remember anything about the stupid Salem Witch Trials! Maybe if we'd been better back then we would've been able to put those idiots in their place. Witch Trials, for Merlin's sake!
In any case, History of Magic aside, hello. I'm Lucia Fox... though I guess you know that already. And I'm a second-year Hufflepuff... though you probably know that too. No idea what Briar put on that stupid form, ugh.
Questions...
1. Yup... my whole family, on both sides. You might have heard of us Foxes, we used to be are used to be pretty famous. Not many people've heard of the Baxters, but some ancestor of mine won an Order of Merlin a million years ago. Probably not the best description of my family history, but I'm tired okay? I still haven't done my Charms homework and it's nine o'clock at night or something stupid like that.
2. No
3. Singing, dancing, sewing, general creative stuff I guess
4. Astronomy tower?
Merlin, it's like an exam or something.
Yours sleepily,
Lucia Fox

QUILL PALS
Hi Lucia,
Wow. It was totally unexpected that your sister was actually the one who signed you up for Quill Pals. But I think your sister actually gave you a good chance to get to know other people in the school and write to them. Personally, I would consider that as a good "punishment".
Anyways, you are very lucky to have a sibling attend Hogwarts with you! I mean, siblings can be very annoying sometimes (mind you, I also have a younger brother), but then on your first days of the school year I think it really helps to have someone who you actually know around. So if I were you, I might actually like the fact that I am around my siblings a lot.
You said that you like creative stuff, which I find very interesting, because I also like hands-on stuff. I wouldn't say that I am any good at being creative or making stuff, but I enjoy the process. I'm the kind of person who doesn't care about the results of something, but more about the process and effort I put in. I guess this is what keeps me going even when I am facing difficult challenges.
And lastly, sorry if I am being a little pressing here about everything you wrote in your letter. My parents forced me to take debating classes when I was a kid, so I kinda picked up the habit of arguing with people and finding a way to disagree everything they say and convincing them to believe my opinions.
Yours happily,
Grace.

Well... Did I mention that I'm a second year? No offense or anything, but I already know people. Briar's a firstie like you, and she's as antisocial as Merlin's spare wand, so it should be her being forced to write writing to people. Ah well. Just so you know though, I sort of have a quill pall already (it's complicated) so my owls might be a little slow.
Siblings can be very annoying. I have two younger sisters - Briar, of course, and Willow, who's only six - and they're bad enough. They make up for it though, they're alright really. What is your brother like?
Ah. Personally, I like things to turn out well and prettily. You know Beauxbatons has a magical arts class? One of my friends transferred there over Christmas, and she was a brilliant painter so she's going to love it. Oh yes, I guess she's a quill pall of mine as well. We write letters to each other, anyhow. So that's a count of three quill-palls so far. I promise I'll try not to forget about this one.
Makes sense - you're from a pureblood family, correct?
In other news, I'm almost glad it's so cold here. I'm hoping against hope that the lake will freeze over enough for ice-skating, but you have to be careful not to go out to the middle. In Little Women (have you read it?), Amy almost drowns because she goes out too far. I've always been careful of skating on lakes since then.

Lucia Fox
