Waiting at the top of the Fourth Floor of the main staircase for @Ruby Red
He had agreed to meet her just at the top of the Fourth Floor because each would be able to get there from the main staircase and they would at least be well on their way towards finding the Rehearsal Room at Hogwarts. However, in between the time of first meeting Ruby Red in the Library, Simon had talked to some others and had been shown where the Rehearsal Room was. While there was no longer a need to investigate the location, he didn't get much time in the room itself.
In fact, all he had gotten was a quick peek in the doorway because some of the other students were using the space already and he didn't want to intrude. It was a glorious room even despite the large arched windows that welcomed in the sunlight. They appeared to be heavy decorative glass and most likely wouldn't cause him irritation. Still, a room like that would be worth the risk.
Simon waited patiently at the top of the staircase. He hadn't seen her since he randomly struck up a conversation in the Library about magical creatures, one of the many things that fascinated him about this new world that he was now part of. The girl was curious and he felt had the mind of a Ravenclaw even if she had been sorted into Slytherin. They shared a nice conversation but he was eager to share in something he actually knew about and it seemed they both had a fondness for the piano. Simon paused to listen, so far, it didn't seem as though anyone was there because he couldn't hear any music in the distance, but then again maybe the sound was muted from the heavy wooden doors of the Rehearsal Room.

Finding the Music
Ruby was excited to meet Simon again and see the Piano room, and she couldn't wait for the end of supper! Throughout the day, she found it getting more and more difficult to keep music from playing in her head, and often found herself absentmindedly playing songs on the empty air. Her family always teased her about that, but it was all in good fun. When supper finally ended Ruby quietly exited the Great Hall and headed towards the main staircase, pausing for a second before walking up the stairs.
As she walked, Ruby's mind wandered and she started humming quietly as she remembered past songs she had heard and played in her home on the family piano. Her hands automatically started playing the songs, a habit she got from practice and muscle memory. At least, that's what her mother said. Ruby remembered her mother saying that as she practiced more and more, her brain and muscles would remember what to do when reading the notes or hearing the song. She also said that music is the last thing someone forgets, and can be very beneficial to the brain. Ruby was grateful that her mother made her learn piano, otherwise she wouldn't be heading towards the fourth floor of the main staircase. As she neared the fourth floor, she saw Simon and gave a little wave, nervous and excited for what was to come.

Heading into the Rehearsal Room with @Ruby Red
"Ruby, hi!" he greeted his friend as she approached him. "Good to see you again."
Simon led the way since he knew where he was headed now, down the corridor and then a turn. One area led to the Ballroom and the other to the Rehearsal Room. The big wooden doors were shut, indicating most likely one of two scenarios - either no one would be in there or someone was in there already practicing. It wouldn't really matter if someone was already there, that just meant these two would patiently have to wait their turn.
"How's things been?" he asked, wondering if she had been making friends, liking classes, adjusting well to the Hogwarts life. He wasn't so sure of himself at first but now that more time had passed he thought he was doing just fine. Sure, he still missed his aunt and friends back in London, but he would get to see them enough.
Simon placed his hands on the doors and gave them a good shove and they opened, revealing the large wide open room. No one seemed inside and bright light filtered through the windows lining the one wall which caused him to squint a little. He didn't like THAT aspect of the Rehearsal Room.

"Hi Simon!" Ruby replied. "Same, it's nice to see you again!"
She followed him quietly, silently trying to remember the winding path to the Rehearsal room, trying to keep her mind from wandering and thinking about her music. When they reached the doors, she fidgeted a little before answering Simon's question.
"They have been good, it's all been new to me but I'm getting used to it! It's still a little hard to believe that I have a wand and can do magic, but I know that learning to harness it and learn about it will be better for me and my family, and it's kind of fun! I miss my family, but I know that I'll see them during summer and I can always owl them!" Ruby smiled a little.
She stepped back a little when Simon pushed the doors open, then gasped a little when she saw inside the large room. "Oh my goodness..." She hesitantly and quietly walked inside, smiling wide. "Oh my goodness, this is amazing! I can't believe Hogwarts has this, but then again, it's Hogwarts, a magic school! It's full of surprises!" She laughed a little, in awe of the large room. "This is amazing, I almost can't believe it!"

Talking with @Ruby Red
"Sometimes when I come here there's quite a few students inside." He said as he watched the girl look around the room. "I guess there's a club of dancers. More like..ballet." If it was other dancing, maybe he'd consider joining but he had no technical background to do something like ballet - just dancing for fun.
"But usually there's very few in here and even if there is, they respect that it's like a practice room so even if someone is already playing an instrument, they don't mind if you play as well. I've brought my guitar down from my dorm quite often."
Yes, this was one of his favorite rooms. There was a certain time of day when the sun shown in just right that it bothered him and he avoided it during those times.
Other than that, he loved it.
"I really wish that curfew just meant being indoors though. That we could still go anywhere we wanted int the castle. If we had late night studying that we could still go to the Library or if we wanted to play the piano at 4am we could make our way here to the Rehearsal Room." What harm would that be? It would especially be great for someone like him who slept so little. That was a lot of hours to fill week after week, month after month.
