Magical creature talk with @Paz Briggs

"Panther. Interesting choice. I don't think I've ever seen a real panther before," but he supposed they were magnificent creatures. "We went to the London Zoo once for a field trip in school. They had meerkats and zebras, camels and lions...and they had this really odd animal called the okapi that was like a combination of a giraffe and a zebra. Crazy what animals we have in just the muggle world. I can't imagine what we'll learn about when we get to Care of Magical Creatures come Third Year."

They were going to find out all sorts of crazy animals existed. Ones that weren't in their wildest dreams. "I wonder if it'll focus on things like that, things you'd find out in the wild or maybe even our own Forbidden Forest or if like, that's where we learn about things like werewolves and vampires and trolls and goblins and such."

Papers were now being distributed throughout the classroom of what they needed to be working on. Proper enunciation of spells. Clear and precise. Focus on what needed to be emphasized. Say every part. Easy enough. Apparently some of the students in the class must have been having difficulty in this area or else there wouldn't be this part of the class focusing on it. It was a good thing, he could have more time to talk to Paz if she wanted because he was pretty sure a smart girl like her already had this part of spellcasting down and understood its importance.

Paz nods her head, thinking about all the times she's been to the zoo and has seen the panthers in question. Knowing it was quite a few times she kept quiet noticing that Simon was staring to talk about a class and what we may learn in it.

After listening to Simons reasonings about Care of Magical Creatures, Paz put more thought into the class itself. Wondering if she was going to take it or not later down the road. While thinking she noticed that the papers were being spread around the room. Looking down at the assignment Paz say that it was all about pronunciation, intent, etcetera.

Looking back up she says "I really don't need this though I suppose it will be nice to have". Paz starts to shake her head in annoyance letting out a defeating sigh, before turning to Simon.

"Please tell me you have no trouble with what he's given us. It is rather simple, I mean they teach us this in our other classes as well. We even hear the older kids talk about this every once in a while, if your observant enough". Paz says this in a frustrated and pleading voice looking at Simon. Her eyes glistening in knowledge and hope. Hoping for him to understand her desire to not want to focus on it. Keeping her face blank she stares at him for a little bit more before turning back to the paper and re reading it. Just to make sure she read it right the first time around.

(OOC) Ps- Sorry about the delay I got a bit busy during the holidays.

Simon took the paper in his hand and began to look it over as the girl spoke. What she was saying caught his attention and a smile pulled at his lips as he glanced up to her.

Was she hoping that he knew the content well because he was her partner and she didn't want to walk him through it? Maybe she was frustrated because they had gone over this now for the past three classes and apparently there were many students still not understanding. Still, it sounded a bit like a Ravenclaw to be asking him to tell her that he had no trouble with it at all because it was rather simple.

"I think we're good,"
he said, not wanting to assume the girl's intentions behind her words. Simon didn't know her well enough to know what she was actually trying to say so there was no use judging and making something up.

"I think its like anywhere really. Some just don't want to put the effort into it."
They wanted to get sloppy and still get good results. It was the same whether one was doing schoolwork, out in the work force, or even at a sports game. You had to put effort in to see results - even if it wasn't difficult.

"I wonder who can make up a spell," he said. "I mean, I hardly doubt anyone can just think of something they want to achieve by magic, throw some latin words around with a swish and a flick and voila...there it is!"

Paz smiles at Simons reply, pleased that he didn't need to go over the assignment. Though she hopes she wasn't to expressive when it came to asking if he needed to do it or not. She knows it was kind of a Ravenclaw thing to say, but she is in the house after all. Although she is glad that he mentioned the effort thing. It was true she thought. People really don't want to put the effort in and it was disgraceful in her opinion.

What Simon said next surprised her into thinking about it. While holding a calculating expression on her face Paz turns to Simon saying "I agree that someone can't put some random words together then call that a spell, that's to easy. Anyone could do it then, but then where would we be if that happened. I think there are some kinds of formulas involved but I'm not sure what yet. If I were to guess I would say we would learn about it later here. Maybe in our third year". She gestures with her hands with her face changing expressions as she spoke with a far off distance to her eyes.

Paz was surprised to think that it might be taught about later. She really didn't mean to say that and more. She turns her head away blushing a little turning back to be a little shy. She wasn't used to saying so many words in one sitting but Simon made it happen. Maybe it was his aura or presence. He reminds her of someone she just met but a male Hufflepuff version of her.

"And sometimes I wonder if there isn't a charm for everything, a saying and a wand movement to achieve just about anything." Were there limitations on it? Could one control making something out of nothing or did the essential elements have to be present? Could one easily transport themselves around the world in a moment's time? Could one control the ocean? The weather? It got his mind thinking of all sorts of possibilities.

Simon smiled though and brought himself back to Charms class, located on the Third Floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Those were all questions for another day and the Ravenclaw he was partnered with didn't need him to go off on some long thinking tangent.

Simon brought out his wand because with the professor beginning to walk around the room, he wanted to show he was focused on the lesson at hand, even if it was review and he already knew it. He began to practice some of the basic wand movements without any words at all.

"Sometimes this all still feels crazy. I know we've been in school for nearly half a year now but it still feels like I'm reading some sort of fantasy book. Magic wands, wizards, the like. ...Hard to believe I'm actually standing here."
