In the library, soon to meet up with the familiar face of @Amber Jenkins

"There is no friend as loyal as a book." - Ernest Hemingway

Honestly, Simon could never understand why the library wasn't more occupied by the students and staff at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In a world full of magic, in a world where so much more existed than one could ever even imagine, why wouldn't you be there - leafing through the pages and pages of books to gain as much knowledge as you could? There was SO much to learn!

History of Magic
Spellcasting
Potions
Herbology
Divination
Magical Creatures
...and so much more!

Although, maybe not all had the same sort of mind that Simon did. Even back home in London he had attended a teen book club from one of the main London libraries. Reading had always been one of his favorite pasttimes. In fact, in his opinion, reading was one of the best hobbies.

Yes, it could help you relax. It could be done anywhere at anytime. It didn't cost a lot of money, it helped improve your vocabulary and your knowledge, and there were always plenty of books to choose from - especially in a library like this!

Simon hoped to find some favorite wizarding writers the way he had some favorites in the muggle world but so far he had only come across multiple books by some wizard name Gilderoy Lockhart and he just couldn't get passed the arrogance of the writing to focus on the content. No, there had to be others and he was sure he'd find one.

Simon remembered he had some books to return that he had checked out just before holiday break and he got into his bag, retrieved them, and then walked them towards the librarian's desk where there was a drop box for returned books. He wasn't really paying attention to the other few students in the library but on his way back towards the table he had been sitting at he paused to take notice of a girl.

Could it be?

She looked exactly like a girl back in his teen book club in London. Granted, he didn't know her very well but the two had shared a conversation or two. "...Amber?" he asked, knowing her name. Boy, was he going to look foolish in a moment when this girl looked up and it was someone else! IF it was someone else...

Since arriving at Hogwarts, Amber had been trying to journey through the various locations within the grounds. One of her favorite places was the Library. There were so many books that she could read and some that she couldn't. Eyeing the restricted section, Amber wondered what she had to do to be able to read those. Finding a table that appeared not to be fully occupied, Amber set her things down and sighed.

Hogwarts was so enormous that unless you actually had classes with someone that you knew, chances were you would not make friends outside of your house. It made her sad. The redhead wanted to know if the friend she had made, Simon was here. She thought she remembered him being sorted into Hufflepuff, but quite a few students looked the same. It was why she hoped that she would run into someone she knew from outside of the school.

Taking a seat, the young woman looked over what she had with her. Setting her books down on the table, she started to go through the mail that one of the school owls had brought her at breakfast. None of them were howlers, thankfully, so she could read them at her leisure. One was from her parents, explaining once again that they wanted her to ask for a resorting. Amber knew that it was impossible, and she had explained that to her parents. It was getting to the point that she might have to ask her Head of House to step in or go to the Headmaster for advice.

Hearing someone say her name, the young woman looked up and smiled. "Simon? If this was him, she was more than happy to see him. Her smile was huge as she hoped that she was reuniting with a friend.

Yes, the girl in the library IS @Amber Jenkins

"I thought it was you! When we were at the sorting ceremony I thought I heard your name," but then again Jenkins was a rather common surname so it could have been someone else. He remembered trying to look up but the Fat Friar kept weaving in and out, distracting the students in front of him so he hadn't gotten a good look.

He came closer and decided to welcome himself next to her. She was wearing her required school attire and so he could clearly remember she was sorted into Ravenclaw. "Congratulations on making Ravenclaw. I guess all that time at our teen book club back at the library in London paid off, huh?" He laughed.

It had been a relatively small group of people that came to the meetings. Some would get distracted by sports and drop out. Some would get distracted by hormones and drop out. Simon enjoyed it though. It was always a chance to get together with some people indoors, no matter the weather, and talk about the books that they were reading and the connections they made with them to their every day lives.

He hoped Hogwarts had been well to Amber so far in these months. It seemed as though the Ravenclaws he knew were doing well. They had that aptitude for learning that seemed to help drive success while there at school and with their studies. "It's so good to see you! How are things?"
