The Ravenclaw Table 2020 -2021
@Paz Briggs
Willow listened to Paz tell her about the whole pumpkin thing, and then she listened to her telling her not to be nervous. Next, she watched her put food on her plate, and she felt relieved.
“Well yeah I know that they’re important in the wizarding world, I just don’t like the taste of them. And back in my hometown we always carved turnips instead of pumpkins at Halloween.” she laughed at the memory of all her fun halloweens. “I was meant to grow up in the muggle world and wizarding world too, but that didn’t really happen.” she continued as Paz started to eat.
After watching her friend take a bite (and clearly enjoy it), she decided to take one herself and she smiled with delight after the first bite. She had never eaten anything like it. Obviously she knew they were in a magical school, but this was heavenly. Even more so than she could even possible imagine and soon she has no trouble scoffing
it all down.
Willow never really thought before she acted when she was comfortable with someone, which is what caused her to quickly shove all of her food in her mouth and then take a long swig of orange juice, finishing it off.

Paz shakes her head in amusement to her friend enjoying her breakfast. Deciding to eat her breakfast rather slowly she watched as her friend just gobbled it down. After watching her eat for a while and eating herself. Paz was surprised when the next time she looked over her friend was finishing her last bite of food on her plate before swallowing her juice. Deciding not to comment on it she went back to eating.
Knowing that her friend must have been hungry she pushed the food dishes closer to her friend gesturing for her to have some more food. While moving to take her glass to give her some more juice.
Paz asks "What class are you looking forward to the most?" Paz was wondering if the classes she was looking forwards to was also what her friend was. Thinking that if they were looking forward to the same classes they could also be able to have some more conversations about them then trying to find something that they both had in common. Though being in Ravenclaw they had to have some class besides books in the library. Though that really isn't a class but oh well. Paz also figured this would be a way to closer connect with her new friend and leave all the embarrassing stuff that happened earlier today. Knowing that this was better than those even if they worked out some of their differences then.

After finishing all her food, Willow didn’t really want to eat anymore. Since she ate so fast, she felt a little sick. So when Paz pushed more food towards her, she pushed it away.
"What class are you looking forward to the most?" Paz asked, and Willow immediately knew the answer to that question. ”History of magic!” she exclaimed excitedly, practically jumping up. Then she blushed and awkwardly took her hair out from behind her ears so it covered her face once again. ”sorry,” she began, “I just like history an awful lot.” she chuckled slightly.
Growing up, Willow had always loved history. Before she knew she was going
to Hogwarts, she had wanted to be a history teacher. She was very passionate about it and despite being the quiet one, when she was at muggle school she was top of her class. Although she was failing a lot of her other classes, she prospered in History and her teacher was very fond of her. Unfortunately, when she got taken out of muggle school and was homeschool she didn’t really get taught it an awful lot, so she was very dependent on books and she enjoyed reading.

The Ravenclaw Table 2020 -2021
Open for interaction.
Joyce didn't know what a Ravenclaw was, and was just as confused as she was wonderous at the great hall! Slowly, she made her way over at the Ravenclaw table and sat down, looking down at her plate. Her empty plate. Ever since she had been confirmed as a witch, or indeed ever since she had recieved that mysterious letter or even further than that, her first magical instance, she had nervous to the point of complete total panic. It didn't help that this world was so new to her. She liked her routines, and this new world pretty much destroyed all of them. She would have to develop new routines, new stuff. And new stuff scared her. She hadn't even touched the books she brought from that place. It was akin to an alien abjucting you and sending you to outer space and just expecting you to treat everything as normal.
She hardly listened as the Headmaster did his announcements, but jumped back as food suddenly appeared at the table. It was so incredlous that for once her friend was silent in the back of her mind. She just couldn't believe what she was seeing! And disbelief turned to terror as the ghosts. Transparent ghosts.
It's alright Joyce, just think of it like an amusement park, that's it! A really hyperactive hyperrealistic amusement park.
She found herself checking the ghosts for strings or wires, anything that could keep them subspended in midair like that. But no, they were too transparent, to floaty, too real.
She gulped down vile, and shrinked in on herself.
Then slowly started to eat.

"Hi!" squealed Gabriella, planting herself down next to a girl on what appeared to be the 'Ravenclaw' table. Whatever Ravenclaw even meant... No. Too enthusiastic. Too enthusiastic. She paused for a moment, hoping the girl hadn't heard her, before trying again.
"Um - hi - my name's Gabriella..." She trailed off, as she realised the enormous plate of food that had just appeared in front of her. "What the... heck... just happened?" she said, under her breath. The food hadn't been there before - or had it? Maybe she was just too immersed in the experience that she wasn't able to tell. "Do you think that was magic?" she asked the girl, trying again to interact with her.
More and more through the day, Gabriella had found herself wishing she had read up more. All those books she had bought when she got her letter had, if she was honest with herself, looked fascinating, but she had been too embarrassed to read them. She knew her brother would tease her, and anyway, she wasn't the kind of girl who read books. All she wanted to do was write them - whatever they said. No, she thought to herself, what I did was right. I bet this girl hasn't read any of her school books either.

Joyce was busy thinking to herself when suddenly a rather rambunctious girl came sliding next to her, asking her a few questions, like if the food that appeared in front of them was magic or not. At that, Joyce shrugged.
"I don't know. Seems like magic. I think everything here is magic."
She was still reeling at the fact that magic even exits to fully appreciate what was going on - she still had theories about this place, one of which that she had finally gone bonkers and sent to the madhouse. Other theories were still pending.
Aren't you going to introduce yourself to your new friend? Poppy, her imaginary friend whispered in her mind.
I supposed I must.
She turned toward Gabriella Haworth and gave her what she hoped was a genuine smile, she wasn't used to this whole social interaction business.
At least she isn't bullying me yet.
"Hi, my name is Joyce!" She said, keeping a subdued tone. She felt very uncomfortable. "I'm going to assume you're from ...." here she whispered so no one else can hear, "the normal world?"
She must be, to ask a question of either or not her food was magic. She didn't even know if it was magic.

"Yeah, the normal world, that's right," sighed Gabriella. "Kind of boring, I know, but oh well. How about you?" She looked at Joyce for a few moments, studying her physical features. "You look pretty magical to me," she said, hoping that didn't sound off-putting or weird. "I don't know... your eyes are sort of sparkly..." She laughed. "Probably just my imagination going wild again."
She looked at the array of food in front of her. So much of it - meat, vegetables... a random bowl of mint humbugs lying astray on the table... She picked up a chicken drumstick and put it on her plate, and began to eat it, before stopping herself. She turned to Joyce. "If it really is magical food... what if it's poisonous?" she asked, panicking for what seemed like the thirtieth time that day. She was suddenly incredibly paranoid, and suspicious of everyone in the room. Any of them could throw a spell at her, at any point...
She glanced nervously over at the Slytherin table - she had heard strange rumours about that house on the Hogwarts Express, and some of those Slytherins did seem to look a little bit shifty. She would have to be wary of them around here.

"Umm, thanks!" Joyce said, blushing a little - sure she wasn't a boy, but she rarely got any compliments from well, anyone. They always thought she was a weirdo.
Then the girl started saying that her food might be poisoned. Joyce almost, almost, scoffed but held it in, "relax, I highly doubt that this school is going to be poisoning their students," she looked down at her own food, which lay untouched, and took a scoop of some vegetables and meat before eating it. You could pretend to be poisoned, you know, scare her a little. \
"Seems good to me!" She said after gulping it down, smiling reassuredly at Grabellie. Then she noticed her anxious glances at the .... snake table. She heard rumors about that house and the table itself seemed almost omnious. Maybe it's all the green, she thought - green was always a sinister color in her mind, maybe she just couldn't get over the Wicked Witch of the West - or maybe it was the smug expressions on some of their proud haughty faces. Nevertheless there was clearly something about them that warranted such a haughty, proud demeanor. Something she just wasn't getting.
"I don't like the... snake table... they seem... evil. Heard some rumors about a House that produced some sort of Dark Lord way back when. I think that one's it."
She continued, more talking to herself than the girl beside her as she glared at the snake table.
"Terrorized the magical folk for over seventy years before dying in this very school to some chosen one bloke - I forgot what his name was - Barry Ottor I think or was it Garry? - some kids were talking about it on my ride to ... this place...."
Joyce shivered, a sudden cold erupting up her spine as if something sinister was glaring at her as she spoke. Considering all the ghosts around, it was probably one of them.
Speaking of ghosts ...
"The ghosts here are kind of lame.... " She said, starting to get comfortable with the girl and changing the topic, "kind of like something you would see in the Haunted Manison!"

Gabriella stopped, her food on her fork half way to her mouth. At least it's not poisonous, she thought, trying to bring a joke to the grave situation - despite only bringing it to herself. "A Dark Lord?" she gasped. "Wow, that's... that's extreme. And in this school?" She was astonished. "Who would want to terrorise kids in a school? I mean -" she paused, checking whether what she was about to say was stupid or not. She decided it was, but chose to say it anyway. "I mean - it is a school, right? Not some weird criminal meeting-place...?"
Gabriella glanced around to see if she could find any of the ghosts Joyce spoke of. She hadn't seen any yet, but then sometimes she could be incredibly unobservant - comically so, sometimes. She shuddered, as she spotted around twenty pearlescent figures standing around the edges of the room. They had been watching her the entire time? Still shaken, she continued to shovel food into her mouth. She was really going to have to get used to this place, she could tell - but she was sure that what awaited her in a few days - at least, once she had got over the initial shock - would be the best experience of her life.

Joyce nods at Gabrelle, "yep, yep. They are kind of creepy if you think about it - I still can't get over this place! The fact that this place even exists!"
And the fact that I don't have internet here is kind of refreshing. Kind of.
She didn't think she could survive a year without internet, and also unable to even speak about it without looking like a freaking weirdo to the magical folk.
"Is it just me or is this place a bit old-fashioned? I don't know, kind of archiac? I mean we are in a castle. I wouldn't be surprised if they had ink wells instead of pens."
She was flicking in and out inbetween liking the place and being wholly unimpressed.
On one side, this place was magical, actual legitimate full blown magic! Real magic too. None of that fake movie and amusement park stuff.
On the other side, everything looked so.... silly and just fake. Like she was on a movie set. Maybe her mind was off today. Maybe it's just the shock. She had no doubt that once it passed, she will actually begin to throughly enjoy her time here.
Or you will live to regret it.
