Percival's days of sharing a tent with Dealla had done nothing but grate on his nerves. His dislike for the girl was centered around one incident alone. The destruction of his precious guitar had been a bad start to their meeting. Many people would see it as an accident or a possible one-time incident. It wasn't like Dealla had done much to him after she aided in the smashing of his guitar. Though Percival could not shake the animosity he felt for her. It stuck fast to him his anger clouding his better judgment. Just being in the same room as her made his chest tighten.

That was the main reason why he was walking alone towards the camp's courtyard. The need to take a break from the not very homey tent was rather strong. Though he would be lying to himself if he said Dealla was the only one making him feel this way. He and Hanako seemed so distant in a way where he was the only one who felt it. All Hanako seemed to talk about was this kid named Slava. If Percival counted all the questions the shorter boy had asked, he swore he would be over fifty at this point. The questions did nothing but add the growing annoyance that burned away in his chest. If this Slava kid was so great Hanako should just shut up and marry him. Then at least he'd shut up. Even at that thought, Percival could not help but feel his annoyance turn brighter. The boy shook his head pinching the bridge of his nose with his right hand. 'I'm not jealous' he denied profusely.

Percival's guitar hung strapped to his back as he walked. The object had been his convenient excuse to get away from Hanako. His lie had been fairly simple, he was gonna go practice his guitar alone. Something that he did fairly often during their first year at Hogwarts. Though he doubted if the other believed his small lie. Percival was notoriously bad at lying, but he hoped luck would be on his side. There wasn't much he could do now though. The past was the past all he could hope was that Hana bought it.

The boy walked in the camp's courtyard to see that it was fairly busy. It came to no surprise though, unlike the lake, the courtyard was close by to be suitable for a hang out spot. Small groups of students were dotted around the grass field. Some were sitting on benches while others lounged in the grass. It hit Percival that he was all alone, and he strangely wished Hana was with him. Though it wasn't like he could change that now. So instead, the boy pushed his feelings down and went to a free spot on the grass. He made sure it was a good distance from the other groups and that the grass wasn't wet. Percival took off his guitar before sitting down putting the instrument in his lap.

It was a beautiful day to be wandering. No activities were planned for the day and it left him with the freedom to do whatever he wanted. Perhaps he could play a prank, perhaps he would drag his friends around with him to play a game, perhaps he would have mercy and give his tentmates a much-needed break from him. A smile seemed to be a permanent fixture among the childish features of his face and was currently visible now. He hopped through the camp, entertaining himself as he bounced from foot to foot, ignoring anyone who was around.

Before long, he reached the courtyard, idly humming a little tune and walking with a bounce in his step. Gleeful brown eyes surveyed the land in front of him and he viewed the students in the vicinity as being full of rich experiences and opportunities, people with whom he could have fun relationships. There was a boy sitting alone on the grass with an instrument on his lap, apart from everyone else. That wouldn't do! Slava made his way over and joyfully flopped down beside the stranger, curly hair bouncing slightly from the sudden movement. “Why are you alone?” he asked curiously, head tilted slightly to one side.

He expected the boy to react poorly to him and lash out, but he would not be daunted by it. He was used to people finding him irritating, what with his seemingly endless energy, stubbornness, and penchant for pranks. His playful teasing and the fact that he didn't get intimidated by people bigger than him led him to get involved in many a fight over the years. He had learned to defend himself, working with his brother on his strength and making friends who could help him in the event that he bit off more than he could chew. Despite this, he didn't really have a particular strategy. There was no rhyme or reason to what he did, he just went with whatever he felt like doing and hoped for the best, reckoning that Max or Arjan would appear out of nowhere and help him if needed.

Perhaps his way of thinking was problematic, but that had never bothered him too much. The way he saw it, if something had been true in his past experiences, it was perfectly logical to assume that it would be true in the future. Maksim and Arjan had rescued him in the past, so why wouldn't they now? And if something made him happy—such as being around people or lightly teasing them—why wouldn't it make others happy too? The little Russian boy sat by the stranger, invading the other kid's space and smiling eagerly at him as he waited for a response of some kind, regardless of whether it would be a positive, negative, or neutral reaction.

Percival's fingers had just rested on the strings of the guitar. With the intent to force out a few notes from the wooden instrument. His pointer finger curled slightly around one of the steel strings. The metal was worn from use, and a string change would be needed soon. The boy made a mental note to bring it up to his Uncle Terrence after he got home. Percival plucked out a note and allowing it to vibrate around him. It centered the boy and he began to feel better. No longer was his mind solely focused on Hanako and his new friend. The boy would have continued systematically plucking each string, but a sudden movement caused him to pause.

He looked to his side to witness a random boy flop down onto the ground with him. The boy had wild hair that seemed to have a mind of its own as it bounced and moved with the boy. In truth, the strange boy reminded him of the puppies he would see at the pet store. Overtly eager with an underlying mischievousness.

Percival frowned as the other asked him why he was alone. It seemed as if the other was trying to be nice to him, but Percival doubted that was the case. If he had seen a kid alone he would have made fun of that kid without hesitation. It only made sense for the boy to think the same. Percival was sure the other would laugh at him soon.

With a haughty look on his face, Percival leaned away from the ever enclosing boy. "That's none of your business." he would snap at the stranger. It occured to him that he didn't recgonize the boy. He looked to be the same age, but he heavily doubted the boy was apart of Slytherin. Not only in the way that he acted, but in the fact that Percival didn't at least somewhat recgonize the boy. "Are you a Hufflepuff?" he sneered. The question was extremely stereotypical, but he couldn't find it within himself to care. It seemed right to be rude to the other for little reason. The boy seemed nice, but Percival doubted the other would remain nice for long. Maybe if he was mean enough the other would leave him alone. then he could at least go back to wallowing in the taste of rejection and music notes.
