If there was any object on Pericles' person which regularly required mending, it was his glasses. In recent months, the first-year had the thing knocked from his face in a duel, dropped from a great height whilst flying, and crushed beneath him when tumbling out of a tree. While he had heard of the spell, he was not quick to answer when Professor Masoud asked if any knew the incantation. He had never been one for the spotlight (not even the metaphorical sort one received when answering a class question). Oculus Reparo. His eyes shone in anticipation behind his own spectacles, presently intact though they may be.

The cheap sunglasses provided to them were unlike anything that the pampered pureblood wore. He regarded them with abstract intrigue, carefully bending a plastic temple, contrasting the fake tortoise shell material to the thin metal wires wrapped around his ears. Mindful of the cracked lens, he removed his eyewear to try it on. The sunglasses seemed to amuse him. He smiled to himself, stifling an airy snicker, and returned them to the surface of his desk before his focus could stray too far from the lesson. When the time came to practice, he did so diligently. "Ock-you-less ree-pair-oh." "Ock-you-liss," a nearby (NPC) girl muttered helpfully, and his brows bounced. "Oh. Thank you." After the short exchange, he resumed practicing, albeit at a whisper this time around.

Pericles was prepared when the time came to practice. Pronunciation perfected, this was a simple matter of reciting "Oculus Reparo" (OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh) and tapping the glass. He would begin by practicing upon the provided glasses, though curiosity would catch up with him. If successful, Pericles would kick things up a notch, placing his own glasses under the little hammer they were given. If he could fix them, it would save him a great deal of trouble in the future.... The tip of his aspen wand prodded the crackled lens. "Oculus Reparo!"

Professor Edit: Zahid had to stave off a chuckle as the (slightly overeager) boy made a move to attempt to destroy his own glasses, presumably to then repair them. “Mr. Dralt, maybe give it a few more tries with the sunglasses, before you move on to the glasses you actually need.” While it did not really show on his face, the amused smile was audible in Zahid's voice.

Callie had always had a soft spot for the history of magic even if it was one of the classes which tended to be a bit less hands on in comparison to others. As a muggle-born Callie was more than willing to delve into the history of a world she didn't even know existed as she felt she had more catching up to do than others. To Callie studying history was much like reading a story with incredible importance, largely a belief instilled into her by her father who was a connoisseur of history documentaries.

However in spite of her interest in the subject she remained rather surprised that it was the history of magic professor teaching a charm she so desperately needed in her life. You see Callie was very much cursed by clumsiness which often resulted in the poor girl consistently breaking her glasses. Once upon a time her parents replaced the glasses each time she broke them but this soon proved to be a waste of money considering how often she broke them. By this stage Callie's glasses were held together by a complicated mess of tape, glue and hope although she didn't seem to care all that much. That is until she learned of the existence of a charm that would lay her broken glasses woes to rest. Suddenly walking around with glasses held together by sheer willpower seemed ridiculous if they could be repaired by a simple charm which cemented Callie's urge to learn how to as soon as possible.

Upon entering the room Callie immediately scurried over to the closest available desk and took up residence on it's seat. Clearly this was a lesson the girl was more than ready to participate in judging by both her excitement and the current state of her glasses. Whilst the professor spoke Callie listened intently, clinging onto every word with immense interest. When the time came for Callie to practice the charm on her own her excitement suddenly turned to nerves. What if she wasn't good enough to successfully perform the spell? The girl spent a few moments in relative silence staring at the broken sunglasses with a worried look on her face before finally working up the courage to make an attempt. "Oculus Reparo, how hard could it be right?" She mumbled to herself and let out a nervous sigh. "Oc-u-las-reh-pah-roh! Wait thats not right.." Callie let out a huff of frustration before making a second attempt. "OCK-you-liss-reh-PAH-roh! That sounds right.." Callie trailed off before pulling out her wand and once again stared intently at the broken sunglasses. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh!" She repeated whilst tapping the glasses gently with the tip of her wand. Callie could barely bring herself to look at the glasses to see if she had failed entirely and instead opened one eye to take a peek. Upon noticing that her attempt was successful Callie's face lit up completely. The girl revelled in her success quietly for a couple of seconds before pulling her own glasses from her face and setting them down onto the desk. "Oculus Reparo." Callie repeated whilst tapping her own glasses gently and relishing in the sight of her slightly blurry looking glasses repairing itself.

Henry was definitely the odd one among his friends since he seemed to actually like history of magic and pay more attention then others would, Henry heard as the professor asked a question in the beginning of his lecture and his hand shot right up but unfortunately someone else was call upon which made the first year rather embarrassed as he lowered his hand. Henry however continued to take small and cramped notes as he listened to the professor speak, before hearing that they would have a chance to practice the eyeglass repair charm or Oculus Reparo.

Henry took his wand out from his robes as he scanned around the room, Henry watched as some got the hang of the charm while others didn't. Henry was seated in a desk in the first row and much to the dismay of the first year he didn't have a desk mate to practice the charm with. Henry however didn't think on the thought as he put his wand down and spoke quietly to himself "ock-you-liss reh-pah-roh," Henry listened to himself say the charm and decided to say it again without his wand to ensure that he got it as he spoke again softly "ock-you-liss reh-pah-roh," Henry smiled to himself as he thought he pronounce it correctly before picking up his wand and clearing his throat a bit.

Henry looked at the broken sunglasses in front of him and took a breath as he felt his anxiety about to take over, his hand begun to shake a bit as he lightly tapped the sunglasses with the tip of his wand and spoke ock-you-liss reh-pah-roh," and like magic the sunglasses quickly
repaired themselves. Henry smiled at to himself as he put his wand down and pick up the sunglasses to get a closer look at what he did, when he softly muttered to himself "wicked," Henry thought he'll like to use the charm on his brother but decided against it as he snapped the sunglasses in half and placed them back on his desk.

Henry then picked up his wand again and lighty tapped the rebroken sunglasses as he spoke "ock-you-liss reh-pah-roh," and again the sunglasses repaired theirselves in a instant. Henry smiled at what he did as he wonder if he should alert the professor but figure that he would make his way to Henry eventually, as he waited however Henry had a question brewing in his mind that he may ask the professor when he came by.

Whenever the professor does come by Henry, he would break the sunglasses in half again and pick up his wand before he tapped the tip on the sunglasses and say "ock-you-liss reh-pah-roh," as Henry watched the sunglasses repair themselves for the third time he would place his wand on the desk. Henry would then look up at the professor and ask " uh, p..professor
I had a question,"
Henry took a breath then asked " it's n..not about the c..charm. I was w..wondering if you know anything about t...the w..were...werewolf registry?" Henry then felt his face turn red and the back of his neck start to sweat as he continued " uh, when did the registry change t..to what it is n..now? Why is it in p..place? Who c..changed it f..from the old r..registry?" Henry looked around quickly and hoped that no one heard him because the last thing he wanted was everyone at Hogwarts to know he was a werewolf as he looked back at the professor and said again " you d..don't have t..to answer. If your t..to busy, just f..forget it.?

As you did not include the proper pronunciation of the spell, you did not learn it.
You can still learn the spell by making a new post writing how you try again - just make sure to include both the wandmovement and the pronunciation this time.

Remi was, if not the most, who didn't particularly fond of History of Magic but he was willing to do the work without talking too much, or even ask questions unless deemed very necessary to do so.

His heart was really out for spells like charms, hexes, and curses. They were more of his bread and butter but, of course, Wizarding education doesn't only focus on spells but most aspect of life for a wizard. Thankfully, one of the courses that offered the chance of learning a spell would be learning how to prevent any glasses in the care of the wizard from ever breaking again. From seeing how the professor and other students in this classroom performed the spell, it would fix the glasses by bending them back into proper shape, clearing up scratches on the lens and so on.

It was cool and, in theory, sounded simple to do. Sure, it wouldn't too useful for him as he didn't use glasses but maybe once he got older, he'll be prescribed one, just like his father and his uncle.

Eagerly, most likely too eagerly, he took out his wand and limply pointed his wand at the direction of the sunglasses with his best pronunciation,
"OCK-you-lass-reh-PAH-roh."
After releasing his error of needing to repeat the words first before committing to the spell, his wand obeyed sadly.

The sunglasses quite literally crumpled itself into a small, plastic ball of shards and disappointment. Remi looked faint, slowly putting his wand down onto the desk, and if anyone was looking at him, he'll give a weak smile of 'everything is under control'.
"Ock-you-lass - No, OCK-you-liss-reh-PAH-roh! Ock-you-liss-reh-Pah-roh..."
He muttered to himself before he finally got it right. As he got up to get another pair of sunglasses and sit back to his seat. With Remi's wand in the same spot where he put it, he picked it up before waving his wand a little before realizing,
"Oh, touch the glasses with the wand, duh."
As he did that, he declared,
"Oculus Reparo!"
The recent pair of sub-optimal glasses turned a better tint of UV-blocking darkness, the empty len in the left eye got filled in with a new lens. Looking new and fresh pair of sunglasses, he gave a shy thumbs up at the professor as he was hoping if he done it right.

Professor Edit: Zahid was a bit taken aback by the ball of plastic that adorned the Gryffindor's desk. That wasn't a result of a failed Oculus Reparo he'd come across before. But it seemed the boy hadn't let a little mistake deter him in practicing the spell as he was currently trying again on a new pair of glasses. "Well done, Mr. Yao.", he acknowledged upon the boy's success.

Henry took the professor's words to note and nodded a bit, as he slowly reach forward and snapped his sunglasses in snapped again before placing his wand right next to it and saying slowly with his anxiety looming over his head which made his stutter a bit more noticeable "O.. OCK-you-liss r..r..reh-PAH-roh," Henry gulped as he stutter through the pronouncing the incantation and so he tried again still sadly with his stutter "O..OCK-you-liss r..r..reh-PAH-roh," Henry quickly scanned around the room with hopes that no one was listening to him as he started to think and focus on the latin root of Oculus Reparo and also a brief history that he read about the charm a few years before, the boy was truly a total geek and know it all.

Henry then spoke quietly to himself without his wand "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh," and to his surprise he actually said the spell without a hint of a stutter which boosted his confidence a bit but added to his anxiety which made it difficult to breath so Henry took a few minutes to take slow, calming breaths to ensure that he didn't or wasn't about to have a panic attack before saying again without his wand "OCK-you-liss r..r..reh-PAH-roh," Henry frowned to himself as he stuttered again and silently gulped as he hoped no one was listening to him stuttering or would laugh at him late for the fact which also added to the boy's anxiety. Henry then silently started to mutter to himself the latin root and a short history of the eyeglass repair charm before saying again "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh."

After saying it a couple of times and twice without stuttering Henry was a bit confidence but mostly anxious and nervous that he might be able to cast the charm while part of him doubted it as he pick up his wand and lightly tapped the sunglasses as he spoke softly but a bit loud "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh," then in a instant the sunglasses repaired themselves in which Henry smiled at what he done before he placed his wand down on his desk and again snapped the sunglasses in half before picking his wand back up and lightly tapping the sunglasses with the tip of his wand while he spoke " OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh," and like before the glasses repaired themselves in a instant which made the nervous boy stutter " w..wicked, bloody wicked."

Henry watched as others also completed the charm and wonder if he should try the charm again so he placed his wand back on the desk then snapped the sunglasses in half for probably the last time before picking his wand back up and lightly tapping the tip to the sunglasses as he spoke with an unusual confidence that never happened before during the first year's time at Hogwarts " Oculus Reparo," and like before the sunglasses instantly repaired themselves which made the first year mutter to himself " this is why this is my favorite class, or least one of my favorites," Henry was a odd boy since he loved almost all of his classes and earn top marks in them all as well which made it seemed like he was a geek and an know it all which he was both actually.

As katherine entered the room for her second lesson she noticed broken glasses she guessed maybe it was a repairing charm who knew she waited till the teacher spoke and finally she guessed right it was and eyeglass repairing charm but why would she need it no one wore glasses in her family who knows maybe it could come of use one day.

The professor spoke and said it was OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh it wasn't hard to pronounce and the wand movements were really easy you just had to tap on the glasses with your wand ok simple katherine thought. That's something she could master in seconds she stood in front of a broken sunglasses god looks like the professor unleashed his anger on them because no one could break their sunglasses that bad unless they mean to.She took a deep breath she practised pronouncing the spell in her head "ok easy
OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh", simple.

All she had to do now was focus her energy she knew exactly her source of power she focused on it and breathed in deeply and got her wand and tapped it on the glasses and said confidently"OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh she watched as the glasses repaired themselves quickly well that was mesmerizing katherine thought and drew a small smile on her face .
Professor Edit: Moving on to check on the next student after correcting a – frankly appalling mispronunciation; whatever that had been had nothing in common with today's spell anymore – Zahid watched as the Gryffindor attempted to repair the glasses in front of her. “Well done, Miss Labrouder.” It was quite good for a first attempt.

Mars blinked at Professor Zahid in front of the room, sitting up from their rather slumped position. Wait. The professor had a pair of sunglasses in his hands, taped over in different areas. They were learning a spell today, and that was exciting. But... they were learning a spell—to fix glasses?

Mars could help but snicker. Oddly specific, wasn't it? You'd think wizards would make broader spells, ones to fix things beyond glasses frames, but then, maybe magic was finicky like that, did better in specific situations. It was just funny to consider which poor soul had broken their glasses enough times to come up with this spell. They would've though magic contacts or LASIK existed in the wizarding world.

Oculus Reparo, hmm? Well, the words themselves made sense. They were glad—the last thing they needed what yet another complicated incantation to remember. And the wand movement was simple too, just touching the tip of their wand to the broken frame. Okay, they could do this.

Scooting their chair out, Mars stood, picking up their wand in steady hands. They regarded the glasses on their desk for a moment. Were they meant to touch the wand to the cracks? That made the most sense.

Raising the cherry wood, they tapped the tip against the tape holding the frames together and spoke, "OCK-you-liss rah-PAH-roh." The tip flashed for just a moment before dissipating, and Mars grinned. Looks like they'd done it.

Setting the wand down on the desk, they picked up the sunglasses and unwound the tape. It should looked good as new now, hmm? However, when they unraveled it, something rather odd had happened. Half of the crack had sealed up, but there was still a seam in the top half. Huh. That wasn't supposed to happen.

Mars furrowed their brow. Okay, so they'd done something wrong. But what? It couldn't have been the wand movement, seeing as it was so simple. Then something about their incantation was wrong. OCK-you-liss rah-PAH-roh. OCK-you-liss rah-PAH-roh. OCK-you-liss—oh.

Shaking their head a little, Mars took either side of the glasses and snapped down. The frames broke with a satisfying crunch, and they smiled, rewinding the tape around the bridge. Okay, one more go.

Picking their wand up once more, they tapped the tip gently against the sunglasses and corrected, "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh." The flash went off again, and Mars eagerly discarded their wand to unravel the tape. No evidence of crack remained.

They grinned, placing the pair over their eyes. When Professor Zahid came over, they would ask, "How do I look, Professor?"
Professor Edit: Zahid shook his head in amusement. “They do seem to fit you. Well done, Mars T'ien. But you should break them again to practice some more.” He just hoped they would not use a book to break the glasses.

Sarah was having a particularly productive week. She’d managed to complete all of her assignments for the next few days already, trying her hardest to stay on top of her already building workload, and had been left with enough time to spend the previous afternoon in the library researching. Growing up in a Pure Blood household with a father who despised anyone with ‘lesser blood’ had meant she’d not had much experience with anything outside of the Wizarding World. The first and only times she’d even stepped into the muggle world were to visit Diagon Alley and to catch the Hogwarts Express from King’s Cross. It meant she knew very little about the culture or people and she was eager to learn more. So, she’d spent hours yesterday reading up on all things muggle and basking in the excitement which learning offered her. How Ravenclaw of you, Lightwood, she thought with a wry smile.

She’d been planning on doing the same thing this afternoon after her classes had all finished. That was until she walked into her History of Magic class and realised they’d be learning a new spell today. Spellwork was her favourite, always eager to learn a new charm of spell or hex. She didn’t care what, as long as it expanded her repertoire and allowed her to learn another piece of magic. That was why, even though she’d never worn glasses in her life, she was so excited to learn the eyeglasses repair charm – and likely spend the rest of the day trying to perfect it outside by the Great Lake in the spot she was quickly beginning to think of as ‘her place’.

The Slytherin watched closely as Professor Zahid explained the spell and demonstrated how to cast it. She listened to the incantation keenly and noted the movement of his wand perfectly. She could do this. Or she’d practise until she could, at least.

Taking a pair of the sunglasses, she moved over to the side to create a modicum of privacy in the loud and slightly crowded classroom. She was a people person, a talkative one at that, but when she was casting, she liked to focus. No distractions. So, just about managing to tune out the voices filling the room, she stared at the broken spectacles.

“OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh,” she said, getting a feel for the incantation and letting it sit on her tongue for a few seconds. “OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh,” she repeated, doing so until the words came naturally, and she deduced that she was using the proper rise and fall. She smiled to herself as she flipped her wand around in her fingers. Once. Twice. Three times. Before pointing it at the broken pair of sunglasses. “Oculus Reparo,” She said, speaking clearly as she let the tip of her wand touch the black rim of the sunglasses on her desk. It took less than a second for the glasses to shift and quickly repair themselves. Sarah practically beamed as she looked down at the now fixed pair of glasses, before picking them up to inspect them. They appeared fine, all back in one piece, and she felt satisfied that she’d completed the spell perfectly.

She broke the glasses once more, cringing slightly at the loud snap the action drew from the thick plastic rims. “Oculus Reparo,” she said once more, again tapping the sunglasses and watching them repair themselves before her eyes. She took a moment to consider how exciting this must be for those raised by muggles who’d only just found out of magic. If even she found the use of magic thrilling, as someone who had grown up surrounded by it, she could only imagine how they might feel. After repeating the breaking and repairing of the glasses a few more times – happy that she could cast the spell successfully – she picked the sunglasses up. With a small grin to herself, she placed them atop her head, slipping them into her hair as if they were a headband. She glanced at her reflection in the glass cabinet situated at the side of the classroom and smiled. “Perhaps I should invest in a pair,” She mused, smile still firmly in place.

Serena walked into the History of Magic classroom, ready to see what spell they would be learning today. She chose a seat towards the middle of the classroom and set her school bag down on the floor. The blonde girl picked up a piece of the broken object that was on top of it. Hmm, they must be learning some sort of repairing charm today. The item looked like it used to be a pair of sunglasses before someone decided to break it.

She gently set the sunglasses down as Professor Zahid started the lesson. Serena quickly pulled out her notebook and quill from her bag and began to take notes. So she was right; they were learning a repairing charm, one specifically meant for eyeglasses. Serena made sure to pay special attention to this one. Unlike some of the other charms, the pureblood hadn’t had the advantage of watching her family members perform this charm, seeing as none of them wore glasses. Thankfully, this charm seemed easy enough; just tap the glasses with your wand and make sure that you pronounce the incantation correctly.

So, after noting down the correct pronunciation and wand movement in her notebook, Serena took out her wand. Tapping the sunglasses, she clearly spoke the incantation. “OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh.”

The sunglasses then came back together, almost looking as if they had never been broken in the first place.
Professor Edit: Having cleaned up a slight mishap he (they were supposed to repair the glasses not explode them, how did that boy even...), Zahid went back to his rounds, checking on the progress of one of the Hufflepuffs next. “Well done, Miss Bowen.”

Opeila couldn't really say that there was a subject she disliked- well... okay, flying was not her favourite, but not too bad either. History, which she had feared could be boring, when she first came to Hogwarts, surprisingly was one of her favourite subjects now. They didn't learn as many spells as they did in Charms, Defense against the Dark Arts or Transfiguration, but it was simply so fascinating to hear what happened in the magical world parallel to what she learned about muggle history!

...That didn't mean that Opeila didn't get extra excited when they got a spell lesson, such as today. When Professor Zahid announced that they would learn a new spell today, her mood was lightened immediately. It was rare that they learned spells that were useful for fighting in History of Magic- The Sneezing Hex was a surprising exception- so Opeila didn't expect anything too spectacular. It would more likely be a useful little tool in everyday life.

Upon entering the classroom, Opeila had almost immediately noticed the damaged sunglasses. What was that about? They already knew the mending charm from Charms class...
Professor Zahid then told them they would learn the Eyeglass-Repair Charm. Opeila was truly confused. What was the point of an extra mending charm only for glasses? Why would someone invent such a thing? Were glasses an exception that they were not told about in charms?

A boy from her house had apparently heard of that spell before and could tell Professor Zahid its incantation: Oculus Reparo. Oculus Reparo. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. And only tapping the glasses with the wand. Well, that seemed easy enough, right?
The Professor asked them to practice saying the incantation first before actually trying the charm. "Oculus Repairo. No, wait. OCK-you-liss reh-PAI-roh. Huh?" That was definitely wrong. Opeila had the same problem with the mending charm back in one of her first Charms lessons. Not repairo. Reparo. Reh-PAH-ro. "Oculus Reparo. Oculus Reparo. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh." That was it.

Opeila now took the glasses of her table and tapped them with her wand. "Oculus Reparo!", she said firmly. Sometimes she felt like spells were similar to dogs or horses. They needed a firm hand and if they sensed fear, they went all over the place.
She smiled when her spell succeeded. Great!
