"There's a small group of them that I know of..." She said recalling the time she had summoned them all to the chamber so that they could all meet one another, perhaps for them to even all become friends. "I think they just have a new member though." She implied as she looked at Haley.

She was trying her best to drop hints though she wasn't sure if Haley was picking up on them just yet. If she didn't she may just leave it since she wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to rock Haley's world up, or give her an unwanted burden. But someone was bound to point it own sooner or later, right? So I might as well be her, right?

Adlai didn't know. In fact behind her smile she was somewhat internally panicking. Was this something people did on a daily basis? Was this some form of job to tell people that they're parselmouths? If so Adlai applauded those who did it, since it seemed to be rather stressful. Nonetheless she would try to push on, try to let Haley now what she thought she knew. But once she did, what would she do? Would she just leave the lavatory?
No? Maybe? Yes?

"Oh, you even know several? Wait..." Haley stopped and thought for a moment before continuing, "if you know some, are you one too?" Haley pondered the situation but that was the only logical thing for her at that moment, why else would anyone know some who are Parsel.

Haley noticed the look Adlai had on her when she mentioned the new member. Haley looked at her confused and drew her eyebrows together, "So who is it?" she now asked again, somewhat impatiently. But only a few seconds later she realized something. Was Adlai just trying to point out to her that she meant Haley? But that couldn't be. Haley would probably know if she could talk to snakes. She found herself laughing uncertainly "You don't mean me, do you?" She hesitated and looked lost in Adlai's face, "No, right? I should know if I can talk to snakes" Haley began to shake her head. She was sure she must have just misunderstood Adlai's behavior.

But also Haley began to grin as she imagined being a Parsel. She noticed at the same time how she felt some sadness, knowing very well that she didn't have such a talent, and at the same time she became a little jealous, being sure that Adlai had that talent. Absorbed in her imagination, she added softly in a whisper "It would be so cool to be one."

"Well...I know of several." It wasn't fully lying, it wasn't as though she could say that she personally knew every single one of the parselmouths here at hogwarts, though that would be something if she did. Not knowing how to swerve her way through Haley's question of whether or not Adlai herself was a parselmouth, she merely told Haley this, "From what I've seen many people do not know they are parselmouths know they are parselmouths until they meet other's like them..."

Perhaps this all was a bit too soon, perhaps it would have been better for Adlai to not stick her nose into another's business as she had done several times before. But what would have Haley done if a professor had heard her speaking parselmouth while she had still not known she was a parselmouth herself? What would have happened had a different students heard her? Adlai wasn't sure but she had heard other students speak poorly of the snake tongued peoples and she didn't want anyone to be harmed physically or emotionally through shallow prejudice and miseducation.

"Haley...all I can say for certain is that sometimes, throughout my interaction with you, when you speak it sounds as though you are not speaking english. Though, I can understand you."

Haley was now completely confused with the current situation and it was incredibly difficult for her to concentrate on Adlai's words. Everything in her head was about Parselmouth, other language, was Haley a Parselmouth and so it went on and on and in her head after a short time there was a complete confusion and her thoughts were still barely understandable. Her head began to hurt and she closed her eyes to regain her concentration.

"Makes sense." Replied Haley still absently. Haley could very well imagine that it is not obvious to know from birth that one is a Parselmouth and that it is not easy to find out. After all, that could be exactly what happened to her now. But was she really one? She still couldn't imagine.

"Then I guess that doesn't leave many other possibilities than that I am indeed a Parsel, does it? Or do you speak any other languages? I can tell you that I don't." She hesitated briefly "At least not consciously" She had to smile a bit, because after all, everything made it seem like she did speak another language. She considered again if this could be possible, but she decided to believe it. She just couldn't imagine that someone else would make it up and then make Haley believe that she was one, even though she wasn't.

She now looked up and faced Adlai. "Even though this is super compact for me right now, nothing else makes sense to me either." That was the truth and Haley didn't know how else to describe it. But suddenly an idea came to her about how the two of them could be sure. "Can't you just say something in Parsel? And if I understand it, then, well, then we'll know if our hunch is right or not."

She looked eagerly into Adlai's face and sher hoped she would. Haley wanted to be sure if there could be any truth to all this.

Adlai watched Haley as she tried to rap her head around the information she had just been given. She felt awful for Haley, she understood the confusion and fear she was feeling, that had been her a year ago when she had found herself in the Chamber of Secrets for the first time. At least then she had two friends with her, who stayed with her and supported her. And thus, that is what she would do for Haley. Adlai would stay and support her.

Nodding to Haley's request Adlai reached into her back of her throat for the foreign tongue that barely revealed it self before taking a breathe and allowing these words to fumble out of her mouth.
"If you understand me, clap once." Though the command was stupid she knew that if Haley understood she may just follow the action she was asked to do and then all doubt would be cleared.

Adlai then waited in silence for Haley to reply, to do something. She hoped that she even spoke parsel instead of some odd mix of Arabic and Icelandic that she could have spoke unconsciously. She hoped and hoped and hoped, for that was all she could do in this very moment.

Haley felt the excitement rising in her and watched Adlai anxiously. Haley did everything she could to keep her attention on her and waited anxiously to see if Adlai would say something in Parsel. With full concentration she looked at Adlai and she felt the warmth in her body and how her palms started to get sweaty. And just at that moment, still with full concentration on Adlai she hears her speak.

And now Haley could hear it too, a hissing coming from Adlai's mouth and just at that moment it felt like a pane of glass shattering, preventing the memories from coming into Haley's head but now she could remember. She had heard this before, this sound was not strange to her. She was sure she had never heard it from anyone else but from herself. Almost lost in her thoughts, Haley quickly came back to reality and noticed Adlai's eager gaze.

At first Haley was confused because she had almost forgotten what they were doing when she remembered. The right corner of her mouth turned up slightly as Haley raised her hands and clapped once. For Haley had not only heard the hissing, but also understood what Adlai had said to her.

Haley couldn't believe it, she was actually a Parsel. She looked at the walls in the Lavatory, somewhat lost in thought, and even though she didn't notice it, she was grinning from ear to ear.

As Haley clapped Adlai felt a sense of relief wash over her, as her assumption had proved to be correct. Still Haley did look rather shocked, and she worried that she may burst at the seems.
"You ok?" she asked, though it may be a rather odd question to ask right now as the young girl did just learn she could talk to snakes.
When Adlai had first found out she had begun to have a panic attack, and she vividly remembers the moment.

Nonetheless, her experience did not matter now, what mattered was how Haley was feeling, how the information she had just gained was sinking in. And thus, Adlai studied Haley's face for any changes or any inkling of fear, even though she was not particularly good at reading people's emotions. Most of the time someone had to tell her what they were feeling for her to put all the puzzle pieces together. Nonetheless, Adlai did not leave, she did not more. She would wait for Haley, she would wait for her to be the one to make the first move, since Adlai did not wish to spook her in any way shape or form.

And just at that moment, a wave of emotion came over Haley, now that she knew it was really true. Was this good now? Was it right to be happy about it in a bizarre way? How would she handle it? A thousand feelings and questions pelted Haley. Her big smile disappeared and her head started to hurt. She knew her next visit would be straight to the library to find out a little more. Adlai's words brought her back to reality and Haley shook her head, "um, yeah I guess." She smiled up briefly but she couldn't convince herself.

Haley had a thousand questions and was very grateful to be not alone at this moment. But now she had been sitting here quietly on the cold floor for a few minutes, lost in her thoughts. It took a few minutes for her to turn to Adlai and start thanking her, "I am incredibly grateful that you were here. For me. In this moment, while I'm getting to know about this." She stopped for a moment and looked down at her hands uncertainly "I think I need to be alone right now and do some thinking." She slumped her shoulders but quickly picked herself up and stood from the cold floor, reaching her hand out to Adlai to help her up.

She patted her legs briefly to remove any dirt and looked back at Adlai, "Would you meet with me again in the next few days? I'm sure I'll have some questions, and it would be great if someone who is also, um, well..." she looked at her sheepishly, "who is also a Parselmouth could help me with that?" She waited patiently for Adlai's answer, hoping very much that she would help Haley through this time with all the unanswered questions. As soon as Adlai would give her an answer, Haley would thank her again generously and head straight to the common room to process this new knowledge about herself.

I think we can end this thread, but I would like to make a new one, where Haley "annoys" Adlai with all her questions. But of course only if you want!

"Of course, it's not hard to find me so whenever you need me just look and I will most likely be there." She sad responding to Haley's question of whether or not Adlai would be able or willing to meet up over the course of the next couple of days. It was a given that Adlai would say yes, after all why would she say no? She had no reason to.

When Haley asked about other parselmouths Adlai began to fidget with her hands, "Well...it's not really my place to tell you who is and who isn't a parselmotuh since most of them don't even want others to know. Though I have been orchestrating meetings between us..." she rambled on in a mutter, recalling the rather rough first meeting they all had a few weeks ago. She didn't want a repeat of last time, and most importantly she wanted Haley to feel welcomed and safe.

"How about this, when the time is right I will introduce you to them all, but you have to keep the fact that I and them are parselmouths, ok?" Though Adlai didn't like secrets this was one she knew she had to keep.
