Michael didn't know why he thought this was going to be a good idea, knitting? He didn't even know how to knit, but he figured he could make Henrys Christmas gift like this. I mean who doesn't like a nice scarf?

Michael walked into the great hall and stopped. The Slytherin table has been covered with all kind of equipment, including a huge collection of yarn in nearly every color he could possibly think of. People were already there, some was a cat. Miss Jensen was already explaining how to knit, whether it was a scarf or socks you were trying for. Okay so a scarf, maybe green? For Slytherin of course. Yellow? For friendship. Michael smiled, even as his cheeks flushed with color. Green and Yellow were nice together they could make a nice looking scarf. He sighed as he sat down away from everyone else. He thought back on the instructions he was given before starting, green first.

I wonder what Henry is doing now. . . I wonder what all of the boys are doing now. I know Calvon's going to leave for home for Christmas, maybe Henry too. I hope Percy stays

The boy blushed at his thoughts. He couldn't help himself. For some reason, when he thought back to his 'hazing', he mostly thought of that boy. He thought about the encounter.

The flame was hot as it got closer to the my face. The older boy leaned down, so close that swore we were breathing the same air. Then he smirked as he moved the flame closer. I remember the heat i felt, on my cheeks. . from the flame of course.

He didn't know why the boy filled his mind so, but he did. Maybe he was just scared him that much. Yeah that was it. Just scared.

Totally not because his eyes were super pretty.

He returned his thoughts to the task at hand. It looked good so far but he still had a good ways to go. He stopped the green, and grabbed the yellow, beginning again.

He thought about the other boys in his dorm.

Henry.

Henry was the best by far. He was his first friend, and his best. He delt with the same stuff as him, he knows him.

Leo.

Leo was. . something. He was there when Perc was threatening him with the lighter, but for some reason he seemed like the bad guy. Michael didn't know how he felt about him.

Selim.

Selim was. . .complicated. He was terrifying and smart and, surprisingly short. Michael had been pushed off the couch a whopping seven times so far, each time the boy would just go back to his book or whatever he was doing.

Jack.

Jack was difficult to say anything about because he was the only one he had a bad memory with. He had sat on him. Sure Michael deserved it, but that was besides the point. Jack had sat in Selims lap, which was very gay of him, if Michael thought so himself. What boy just sat down in anothers lap. And then to say something about santa? How was he to respond? Michael never even knew kids sat in the mans lap, that was disgusting. Definitely a muggle thing.

Calvon:

The first first year he saw in the dorm, besides himself. Cal seemed strangely at home in the dorm, in a way Michael knew he never would. Calvon seemed to calculate his every move, heck he seemed to calculate everyone's every move. Michael wondered what he did with what he observed, why did he do it, too.

Wyatt.

Wyatt he never met, but he saw him with that Alec kid once. Wyatt's eye's lingered on Alec a little too much. Like Michael's did with Percy. . . maybe he was scared too.

Edward

The other first year. Never talked to him. Never really seen much of him besides when he was going in and out of the dorms. He wondered why the boy was so. . .slippery. He never seem to be alone with the other boy, and always in a rush.

Michael didn't really know what to say about his dorm, full of boys that made him think. Made him want to switch dorms, yet also stay. It was always entertaining in the dorm.

Michael got back to the task at hand, literally. It was looking good, long too. The yellow part was bigger than the green so he decided a green, yellow, green look was good. He hummed as he worked thinking about home.

His sisters grew up to the muggle tales of Santa, his father liked them, he found out, says they remind him of his school days, with muggleborns growing beside him. Telling him the stories Michael never heard. Michael smiled at the thought of his mother, wondering if his next sibling, a girl no doubt, was born yet.

He smiled at the finished scarf. It was nice, and hoped Henry thought the same. He stood, returned his things to their place and then walked out of the great hall, not before saying a quick Merry Christmas and Happy Yale.

It seems as Christmas approaching, Hogwarts filled with overflowing errand to attend to. Yesterday, Cash just finished doing their Christmas Secret Santa errand with Katherine Labrouder. Though with Katherine between the gift making for their respective Secret Santa person, there are quick banters back and forth from the green eyes and the hot-tempered girl.

Though there are quick bantered between the First year and the Second year, both of them managed to pull and made a productive gift to sent. And now another first year, Starlee Kennedy had told them about the Knitting errand that will be held in the Great Hall.

Cash at first wanted to declined Starlee suggestion for the knitting event but with how excited Starlee about the project that she and the green eyes will embarked on, Cash can not say no to her. And so now both are at the Great Hall. Upon approaching the Hall, Cash see numbered of people that already gathered in the Hall.

Embroider they can do it but Cash have no knowledge when it comes to knitting. To say the least for this year Christmas, the green eyes have less enthusiasm than the previous year before. With their father been gone and not a single word or news they know about whether he still alive or not. Cash's mother also will be busy over St. Mungo's.

Their mother once told them around Christmas, people tend to get a lot of accidents. Cash sighed at that. When both of the snakes arrived in the Great Hall, Starlee make a dashed toward the Slytherin table. She gathered some light purple, olive green, and royal red yarn. Cash smiled at Starlee enthusiasm.

The ball of sunshine that is Starlee characters trait always make the green eyes smile. That traits reminded them of puppy. A very cute one. Cash on the other hand, took their time to collected what they need. They look down on the array of colorful yarns on the table. Finally the green eyes decided to grabbed some orange yarns, indigos, gold and maroon ones.

The orange will be for Starlee since Starlee reminded them of sun, the indigos one for their mother, the gold one to blend with the other and maroon ones are for their two beloved pooches back at home. They will try to attempt to make sweaters from all the yarns. After all it gathered, Cash followed Starleee. Starlee right away making her project.

Cash standing near Professor Jensen, they listened to what Professor Jensen told to the group. Once finished, Cash sit next to Starlee. They put down all the yarns and the knitting equipments on the table. Starlee knitted so effortless like she done it so many times. "Uhh.."Cash looked at their own yarns then back to Starlee's. The purple-haired shake their head no.

"Professor Jensen explained it too fast and I think I need your expertise on this one,"They told Starlee. "Embroidered I can do and know how to do it but I never done knitting before"Cash added. "And sure! I would love to hear the rhyme. It would be lovely if you could help me out with this one"Cash expressed and smile but you still can see the confusion in their green eyes.

Loki
Christmas time was fast approaching and with it the feeling of joy and cheer that seemed to be like a contagious sickness. Everyone was getting it, well everyone but Henry Knight.

For a odd reason he really wasn't in the mood for the holiday or festivities. He was rather feeling down and maybe even depressed at the moment why well it was rather hard to say since the twelve year old didn't know either. He was dwelling on his thoughts a bit to much which always increased his ever looming anxiety and chances to have a panic attack but it wasn't just that. There was something else, something the boy couldn't put his finger on or figure out so instead he isolated himself with his thoughts and at points was kind of like a grinch during the month. Someone watching from afar wondering what was the point of Christmas. What was the point of the holidays. What was the point of any of it. While standing back and asking himself if he would always stay a outsider.

During time off, the boy was most likely found in the library or by the great lake hanging from the branches of a rather tall oak tree. However that day he was walking through the corridors of Hogwarts, hands in pockets with his mischievous feline friend who had trust issues; Loki.

Loki was a orange tabby with some white and almost bright amber eyes who had major trust issues with anyone and everyone. It was sort of a guessing game who he would like and all since Loki had his own rather random maybe way of deciding whom he liked or trusted and whom he didn't which meant Henry offended had to explain his cat's attitude to people especially ones that the cat didn't like.

Thankfully however Loki liked most of his friends, most was a key word since Henry was contemplating why the cat liked a certain boy: Selim and his cat: Kioshi.

Henry looked down at his cat as he remembered how he liked most of the boy's in the snape dorm to his reaction as Henry hoped his cat would hiss or something but instead he trusted them to the twelve year old bewilderment.

Henry still couldn't help to like his feline friend as a smile escaped from his lips when they duo stepped in the entrance of the great hall there was something there, a feeling or smell that Henry couldn't help but breath in and like almost like a homey feel or something like that.

As Henry looked around, he noticed that the hall seemed more packed than usual which was something the boy wasn't looking forward to since he thought he would pop in the great hall for a quick bite for both him and his cat before leaving to the library to find a few books then to the edge of the great lake where his favorite tree stood to read them all, the thought sounded like a perfect day to Henry one that could be ruined by someone casually and randomly starting a conversation with him.

The twelve year old usually didn't sit at his house table but he figured the slytherin table would he the least packed how wrong he was. When the boy with his cat approached the table he saw his head giving instructions on knitting before finding Alan Vanes the gryffindor perfect near by which was when he remembered the knitting errand that the boy set up and also remembered making a mental note to avoid the place during it one that he mustn't forgotten since now he was here.

Henry looked around the table from the students and the materials that wood be used for knitting and Henry felt something telling him to join them but he ignored it as he walked along the table with his feline by his toes.

Eventually he saw a few familiar faces; coming across the purple haired beater for his house; Cash and the first year; Starlee. Henry would waved to them both and give a smile before continuing down where he would find another rather close friend in his opinion and one of the few snape dorm mates he liked; Michael or Mike in which Henry would give him a smile to as he greeted him " hey mate."

Continuing down the table and noticing no one else he really knew, the twelve year old decided to walk back to someone he did know and seeing as Cash and Starlee were already in a conversation. Henry decided to sit by Michael as he waved toward the fellow slytherin when he approached but got sidetracked and so couldn't see what the boy was knitting since his cat decided to run the other way making Henry chase after it and down the slytherin table.

" Loki!" Henry called after his rather stubborn cat and to no hope as the feline hopped on the table and started batting balls of yarn off making Henry rather quickly rush to pick them up so no one notices but before he couldn't get his orange kitten.

Loki spotted another feline and rather jogged over to them as he sat in front of the cat who definitely seemed a bit older than him and gave it a short meow before sniffing the fellow feline. Loki then must have decided that he rather liked the cat as he sat perfectly still and looked into there eyes before batting a ball of yarn off.

Henry rush to his cat where he now noticed that the cat belonged to Anastasia Beckett a girl whom he heard about and talk to once but didn't know much about really as Henry reached over to grab his cat whom squirmed from his arms and went to stand next to her own cat again. Henry eyed his cat as he spoke " sorry about Loki, he can be quite mischievous," before bending down and picking up the items that his feline dropped while Loki sat there next to the gryffindor's cat.

Starlee was looking around the hall when she saw another familiar face enter: Henry Knight. He waved and smiled at Starlee, and she happily returned the gesture, dropping one of her knitting needles accidentally in her excitement. "Hey Henry! ... Oops..." She quickly snatched back up her needle and continued on knitting her scarf.

By the time Professor Jensen was done, Starlee already had a quite nice little scarf end formed. Cash said they were still struggling after the Professors explanation, so Starlee held out her needles close to Cash and said the rhyme her mother had taught her.
"In through the rabbit hole
Round the back of the big tree
Up through the rabbit hole
And pull it free!"

She said the poem slowly as she did it, and then she said the poem again, explaining after each line. "So here you take your needle through the hole, like that!" she moved her needle through the loop that was on the other needle swiftly. "Now, you take your yarn, I typically hold it loosely with my dominant hand, and you loop it around, just like the needle is the tree!" She holds up the way she is holding her yarn so that Cash could see, and again swiftly motions the yarn around the needle. "Okay... so now you take your needle back up through that hole you just created..." Another swift movement and Starlee sent the needle back up through the hole in the yarn. "And then, you pull it all through, and the yarn will pop off onto the other needle, just like this!" She gestured widely as she separated the new loop from the other needle, and it was placed onto the second needle. "And... You just continue like that until the end of the row. Then you flip it, and start again! Easy Peasy!" She smiled up at Cash, hoping that they managed to pick all that up. Cash is smart, Starlee had no doubt they would catch on quickly.

"It seems like a lot, but it's not that bad! The little rhyme always helps me remember what to do next..." She began to mumble it as she continued knitting the purple scarf. After a few more rows of concentrated knitting, she asked, "Oh so you embroider? That's so cool! I tried doing that as a kid... but I never quite got the hang of it like I did knitting or sewing..." She looked back down at her scarf rather proudly. She seemed to be one of few people there who knew how to knit, and it was definitely something she enjoyed.

Cash listened intently to the rhyme Starlee had told them. When Starlee do it, it seems so easy and effortless. Cash took a breath and picked up the needles and the orange yarn. "Here we go"Cash mumbled. They make a mental note of saying the rhyme Starlee said before. They a bit struggling to make the first row.

Starlee waved at someone and accidentally dropped one of her needle. Cash smiled at Starlee's little mishaps. Cash looked up from their yarn and wave back to Henry. "Hey mate"They greet their fellow second year and close friend. Cash then looked down on their yarn again. Their forehead knitted as they still struggling with it.

After a few minutes or so, finally they got the hang of it and found the rhythm for it. Cash smiled to themselves when the process of knitting become a bit easier for them. They never done knitting before and holding both needles with their hand while imagining how they want, can be a bit challenging for the green eyes.

"Oh yeah"Cash answered what Starlee asked from them. "My abuela (grandma) teach me once upon a time"Cash said between looping the yarn on their needles. "It is one of the most unuseful thing she taught me but now when I think back again, I am grateful that she taught me"They explained. Starlee also told them she also can do sewing.

"Is it basically the same thing? Sewing and embroidered?"Cash inquired the first year. They paused a moment to shake out the pain from holding both of the knitting needles. They hold it in front of them and it seem they managed to make a wrong movement on it since the yarn got tangled one from another. Cash let out a frustrated groan.

"You make this so easy"Cash chuckled as they redone the row that got tangled. After they untangled the yarn, Cash speak in low tone and repeat of the rhyme that Starlee explained to them. "In through the rabbit hole, round the back of the big tree. Up through the rabbit hole and pull it free!"Cash followed the instruction of the rhyme.

They repeated over and over again. They chuckled to themselves when they realize like it was some kind of matra. After a few trials and error here and there, Cash managed to make a decent set of rows. Cash hold it in front of their face and the shape of sweater begin to form. Cash took a glance at Starlee, they make a mental calculation it will fit for Starlee's body.

A few hours has passed, Cash then added the golden yarn into the orange one. When they reached the middle section, Cash make a round shape. Trying their best to shape it up like a bludger. They then switched back to the orange yarn. They continue to make some rows then switched back again to the gold one.

Under the bludger shape, Cash added an embroider saying 'Quidditch Fan' with the gold yarn. Cash hope that Starlee will be please with the addition. After the first pullover had just finished, they set it aside and restart the process. This time with the indigo yarn. Thankfully for the pullover that Cash intended to make for their mother, the process swimmingly effortless.

Once it done, they make the third and fourth one. This time the size smaller than the other two. They took the maroon one and make two medium size pullovers for their pooches back home. They stuck their tongue out. You can see the concentration on their face. They shook their hands again to lessen the pain. A few hours later, the four sweaters they created was done.

Cash took one the orange one and hold it against Starlee's back. Thanks Merlin from what they see, it fit just right with Starlee's body. They mulled it for a minute. They contemplated whether to give it to Starlee right here or make it as a surprise Christmas present for her. Cash then decided they just give Starlee at this moment.

They tapped Starlee on her shoulder. "Here,"They said to the first year as they handed the orange sweater to Starlee. "I hope it fit with you just alright and you like orange color"They added. "The orange color reminded me of you. Seeing you always so excited over things, also the sun. Because you always managed to make me smile which it came rarely this day"They explained.

"Thank you for teaching me"The purple hair expressed their gratitude. Once Starlee accepted the green eyes gift for her, they gathered all the knitting equipment and wait for Starlee to finished hers. Cash examined the indigo sweater and the medium size maroon ones. Cash smiled to themselves.

Proud of what they accomplished, the new knowledge and skill that they learn today.

Sarah had been trying to come up with an idea of what to buy her friend for days. She had money – or rather her father did – so the idea of sneaking out to Hogsmeade to buy her something one weekend had crossed her mind more than a few times. But something about that had felt off. Not only did she not enjoy spending her father’s money, mostly because it proved to the man that she didn’t need him, but also because she had no idea what to buy. Books had been her first thought, she’d met the Gryffindor in the library after all and knew she enjoyed reading, but knowing which book to buy was the issue. She’d then considered sweets, knowing how much she loved it when her aunt gave her a box of lemon sherbets and rhubarb and custards every Christmas Eve, but wasn’t certain how to make that personal enough. She’d never seen the girl eat sweets after all and had no way of secretly finding out her favourite.

It had been earlier that day that she’d first heard of the knitting night which was to take place. She’d been wandering the corridors with Nova and overheard a few first years talking about it and had immediately been excited. Her mother had taught her how to knit. Or perhaps more accurately, attempted to teach her how to knit. It’d been a disaster at first, all dropped stitches and balls of knotted wool. She’d spent years trying to teach her the craft and Sarah had never quite picked it up. When she’d lost her, Sarah had been determined to finally learn how to do it, in a sort of memory of the woman who’d tried to teach her so many times. It’s taken almost an entire summer and at least sixteen failed, seasonally inappropriate scarves for her to finally feel as though she was at least sufficient at it.

The young Slytherin enjoyed knitting, had made scarves and hats and woollen mittens for her aunt for years, and thought that she could perhaps make her friend the perfect gift for Christmas too. Seemingly sensing her happiness at the thought, Nova had leapt up into her arms and proceeded to purr contentedly as Sarah ran fingers through her soft fur. She’d spent the rest of the day busying herself with the work she knew she had to finish so she could make it to the knitting night.

When she arrived – Nova walking beside her, tail flicking against her ankles every few steps as she let it casually swig side-to-side – Sarah’s eyes immediately caught sight of the vast number of knitting supplies lay out across the Slytherin table. The bright colours seemed fitting of the atmosphere, loud yet comforting as laughter and chattering could be heard from every angle. She was slightly late, so everyone already seemed to be at least partly through whatever project they had started. Sarah smiled, absently letting her fingers run across the balls of wool and twine covering the table which just a few hours ago had been laden with food. She glanced around to see whether there was someone she was supposed to ask before she took anything. Seeing no one, she grabbed a burgundy and gold ball of wool and pair of knitting needles. Gryffindor colours, her subconscious mind had decided.

She hesitated for a second as she went to move away. “Too obvious,” She muttered, putting the balls of wool back down and instead deciding on a deep navy ball of wool which reminded her of the dress Paisley had worn to the Fall Ball when they’d accidentally matched outfits. The corners of her lips quirked as she realised how perfect the colour was. She stepped away from the table and made her way further into the hall, settling a small distance away from a group of students. She often lost herself when she started to knit and knew that conversations would be hard to keep so stayed away from most people she knew in case they found her silence rude. She was close enough to a group who were muttering about the Christmas holidays and she let the dull mummer of chatter fill her mind as she started on the scarf, Nova curled up on her lap.

After a short while, Sarah absently humming to herself a theme tune which she’d picked up from one of her muggle-born friends from a television show she’d never seen or heard of, she assessed the scarf. She was about a third of the way done and, if she did say so herself, the scarf was looking pretty good. She’d decided to sew thin pieces of silver thread throughout the blue wool to resemble to stars which had adorned both of their dresses at the ball, and the effect it had was rather charming. “Perhaps I’ll make myself one too,” She muttered towards Nova who purred in what Sarah took as a sign of approval.

Calypso walked into the Great Hall, wondering if she could offer assistance putting up the last of the decorations, and was surprised at what she found upon glancing over at the Slytherin table. It appeared that some type of yarn monster had crawled onto its surface and proceeded to explode. Were they...knitting? Now, most people might find this funny, a bunch of Slytherins doing handwork, but Cal had always been one to scoff at stereotypes. Cool, she thought to herself, and walked over to check it out.

When she was seven, Calypso's father had taught her to knit. It was one of the young Gryffindor's favorite pastimes, and she often relied on her skill for birthday and holiday gifts.

Arriving at the Slytherin table, Calypso surveyed the scene. Upon further inspection, there were not just those in the house of the cunning here. She spotted students from all houses, all talking and helping each other. Oh, Calypso thought, wondering why it hadn't occurred to her before. This must be that Knitting Night thing I saw a flyer for in the Common Room.

Feeling briefly uncomfortable about sitting down at another house's table, Cal took a seat and picked up a skein of royal blue yarn. She found a pair of needles in a Mason jar on the tabletop, and cast on thirty stitches. When she was on her eighth row, after sitting in silence for a few minutes, Cal felt a tap on her shoulder.

She turned to see a boy in Hufflepuff robes standing beside her. Calypso smiled. "Yes?"
"I don't know how to knit," the Hufflepuff said. "It seems like you do, and I was wondering...could you show me how?" The girl scooted over on the bench. "Of course! Sit down here and I'll get you started."

Twenty minutes later the boy had the startings of a nice scarf and he thanked Calypso and went off to sit with his friends. Calypso's own scarf, which she figured she'd give to her dad, was about a third of the way finished.

The Gryffindor helped a few other students, and settled back into her knitting.

After finishing the blue scarf for her father, Calypso started another one, for her mother this time.
It was maroon with honey yellow stripes, similar to the Gryffindor pattern, but slightly different. Her mom had been a Ravenclaw back in her school days.

A while into this second project, Cal checked her stitch work to find she had dropped a stitch. Now, to a non-knitter, this wouldn't sound like much. But anyone familiar with the craft knows that a single dropped stitch can lead to the unraveling of one's entire design.

Normally, it would be relatively easy, if not a pain, for Cal to go back and pick up the stitch. But this particular yarn she was using was tricky, and she thought she'd need a yarn needle. Looking around the table, the eleven-year-old didn't spot one.

Hmm, she thought. They must have a yarn needle. I mean look at this place. Every color wool, cotton, and acrylic you could imagine, needles of all types and sizes.

She asked both students to either side of her, but they had not seen one either. So, she got up and walked around the table, scouting among the many skeins of yarn and inquiring about the needle to her schoolmates. Finally, Cal went up to a taller kid with a prefect badge on her robes and asked, "Have you by any chance seen a yarn needle?" The girl paused, then shook her head. "No. Weird we wouldn't have any. You could always check a supply closet."

Yes, Calypso decided. A supply closet. "Thanks," she said to the prefect, and wandered off to find the one supply closet she knew the location of.

__________________________

Arriving, Calypso opened the closet's door. Looking inside, she moved around boxes, trying not to spoil the organization. Then, behind a box labeled 'Candle-making,' she found one with a tag that said, "Handwork."
In the box there was a small jar filled with ten or so little metal yarn needles. Eureka! Grabbing three (she figured other students might want to use one back at Knitting Night), Calypso headed back through the corridors toward the Great Hall.

On the way, she spotted someone's cat running into a classroom, apparently escaped. She was about to go retrieve the creature to give to a teacher, when a girl ran after it, yelling its name. All good here, then, she figured.

Back at the Slytherin table, the Gryffindor finally finished the scarf for her mom. Figuring she could do the rest of her knitting in the Common Room, Calypso took her two scarfs and went over to a group of older kids finishing up decorating, to see if she could help.

Rose knew vaguely how to knit. Her grandmother on her mother’s side knew how to crochet and knit and sew, and had made several things for all her grandchildren, children, and pretty much everyone else she knew my hand. Well, sometimes, she used magic to knit several things all at the same time, which was certainly a sight to behold. But she had taught Rose how to knit and crochet. Rose had been more of a crochet person as you are able to take it anywhere and just start crocheting, while knitting had been more of a thing you had to do some preparing to start and to do, and to unravel everything and pay attention to what you were doing and all. So, personally, she hadn’t knitted in a while. So, as she was walking to the Great Hall, she was reminiscing about those stolen little moments between her and her grandma. Just her and her grandma, which was rarer than Rose cared to admit. Maybe it was because she didn't really see her grandma that often, especially now that she was at Hogwarts, since her grandmother lived across the Atlantic Ocean. Probably also because whenever she was with her grandmother, her grandmother had nine other grandchildren, and didn't have the kind of time to give attention to all of them equally. Because she loved all of them equally.

So it was on that particular day that Rose was thinking of her grandmother. She would be able to see her fairly soon, on the Holiday Break she would go over to America with all her extended family. She was thinking of, mostly, how grateful she was for her grandmother. And for the love she gave her. And that maybe she should give something back to her, for all she did for Rose. She never, not once, forgot about Rose.

Rose had been sent a letter that morning about how excited her grandma was to see her, along with some of her favorite candies. She had saved the candies for later, even though Chaska had made her opinion clear that they should have had them right then. Chaska's long silky fur was growing in full-steam, which meant she was starting to not only be absolutely adorable, but also gorgeous. She sure looked like the princess she thought she was.

Rose entered the Great Hall to find a knitting errand was happening. Oh, she would love to knit something. Chaska had followed her to the Great Hall, hovering behind her legs as she paused in the entrance. She looked up at Rose, as if wondering why they were stopping. Rose leaned down to scoop up her fluff of a cat, holding her to her chest as she went over to the Slytherin Table. Chaska seemed confused about why they were going to a different place than normal. Usually they would go to the Gryffindor Table, a common place for Chaska to get treats, even if they were undeserved. But Rose had something different in mind today, apparently.

A way to give back to her grandmother. Her grandma had made her so many sweaters, scarves, mittens, and socks, Rose couldn't even count. So maybe she would appreciate and give back to her in the exact same way. Rose took in a deep breath, trying to picture in her mind's eye what she was going to make. A scarf would obviously be the easiest to do. And maybe she could make it with her grandma's favorite color- blue. So Rose got to work. She found a good, royal blue yarn. She ran it by Chaska first, and the cat seemed to approve. She found needles that seemed to be the right size for the yarn, and started with her slip knot, making a row of her first stitches, hoping it was the right length, that the width of her scarf wasn't too wide or too skinny. As she started adding more rows, she realized that it was a perfect width. Chaska was still unsure about everything that was happening, sitting in Rose's lap and watching the needles click together. As she kept knitting, she found her rhythm and was able to go faster and faster every row. She was a little absorbed in her work and hadn't noticed how her Silver Siberian had gotten bored with chasing yarn balls around and fiddling with the excess yarn and had now decided to cuddle up in the scarf that Rose had already made, snuggling around it and making herself extremely comfortable. Rose finished up the scarf. It had indeed taken her a long time, longer than she probably realized she had been there. Finnally, she finished the scarf. She added some extra things, extra details, little things. Like the tassels on the end. She would then untangle her cat from the scarf, letting her sit on top of the Slytherin Table while she folded the scarf.

"Thanks for your help, silly kitty," she would tell Chaska, rubbing her in between her ears. Then, she would tuck the scarf under her arm and pick her poof back up again. She was glad she had run into this on this day. Her grandmother was going to get a very thoughtful Christmas present.

This kind of work was definitely not her forte. Arissa Wright, knitting? Even her parents would be in disbelief, much less that troublesome cousin of hers. From her experience, redoing it again because of a few holes were what she hate to do the most. Arissa was not exactly a patient person in the first place, so it was not a surprise to see her thinning patience when she continued to knitting again. During the entire process, as to avoid any distraction, she tend to tune out all other noises in the Great Hall, but the presence of other person started to sit next to her was not exactly what she could easily ignore.

Her grey eyes briefly glanced at said person - a Gryffindor with a bunch of yarns in front of her. Arissa 's brows rose slightly at the huge amount, but nevertheless, kept her silent. It won't do to bother others when your own yarns was like a scene from a battlefield. So she merely murmured a quick "Hello" before turned back to her work. She was not exactly a friendly person, but that didn't mean she can't be polite, despite most of her interaction started with her being arrogant.

Despite all that thoughts, Arissa actually managed to finish her first scarf. Personally, it's a bit uglier than what she expected, but well, seeing as that's for Adrian, the sentiment itself was enough.

A normal people may have given themselves the scarf, but Arissa wanted the better scarf, so yes, she didn't mind giving him her first work, which had a few mistakes here and there.

Her eyes then focused on the red yarn she's currently knitting- after her first 'lousy at best' attempt, her second one was better, and she managed to get a grasp on the techniques after that - not perfectly, but enough to make an adequate scarf compared to the first two.

After a while, Arissa had all four of her scarves in front of her. Green, green, blue, red. The latter two might seemed prettier than the former, but at least she managed to fulfill her goals. The girl might not be entirely content at the results, but it was expected from a beginner so she refused to dwell on it any further. At least, she had learnt a new skill that was not part of the Hogwarts academic curriculum.
