Robyn took a moment to study the boy in front of her, still quite young and unsure of himself. At least, that's how he was coming off to her. He was at least mildly confident in his assumptions about others, if him actively running away and demanding proof of her wizard-hood showed anything. A true Ravenclaw, when presented with the proof, he accepted it rather than continuing to deny what was in front of him. But there was still an anxiety that existed in the nervous energy as he could never seem to get comfortable in his chair, an innocent sleeve becoming a thing to chew to release some of that energy. He was still learning, growing, developing. In a sense of himself and how to exist in this world. It was a feeling that Robyn remembered quite vividly, one that never quite seemed to go away. She wondered if it ever did. It seemed like growth was never truly finished, and those who felt like it was were truly fools.

While her house was known to be bold and brash, she was one that was quite patient. It came in handy when students struggled to find the words that work best for them. In this case, Syl seeming to choose his words carefully about her suggestion to answer questions for others someday. She admired his honesty about how much that idea affected him. "There is also something to admire in making sure that you're answering the questions that you have for yourself. Instead of just ignoring them as some may do. I hope no one, especially at your young age of knowledge, is relying on you for answers. The best students should always be seeking the answers themselves." She didn't see the point in attempting to learn if the way the person was learning was just by getting the answers from other people. There was a process to searching that could bring students to new answers in conclusions that they didn't think that they would be able to find beforehand. While a helping hand for knowledge could be handy, relying on it was dangerous.

What came next was not something that Robyn expected in the first meeting with the boy. A strong confession of a possible secret, though he might've been telling the whole world he was adopted and she wouldn't know. Especially with how new she still was to the school and learning what was going on. An eyebrow couldn't help but quirk up as he handed over a book about wizard genealogy. There were many questions that immediately cropped for his search. She flipped through the pages, not necessarily paying attention to what was written within the antique. "And you're sure that you were adopted from a wizard family? I'm assuming that you have the last name that they had? Or did your adoptive parents change it?" Sadly the prying questions would have to be asked if there was any information to truly be gathered.

He didn't have much information to go on. This was what made him so unsettled to begin with. There was no indication his last name wasn't his own until his mothers sent him the bracelet. No documents that he had found to provide the brave Miss Finley with useful information. Not even a statement from his mothers to conjecture on beyond "This is what we found when we found you." Just the knowledge that they had adopted him under mysterious circumstances and some sort of hospital bracelet with his real name etched into it.

He was just thankful to know that at least the metal wouldn't forget his name.

"I have my name," he said pulling his sleeve back to reveal the plain bit of silver metal with only a few words on it. It was his true name. Sylvain Wyllt. The two adoptive figures had never intentionally taken his name away from him so it was something he'd accepted with grace once they returned it to him. Regardless of their intention, the damage of omission had already caused him considerable pain. "My mothers, uh, Rose and Gracie, gave it back to me in September."

He fidgeted with the bit of silver as he struggled to part with the only thing that filled him with the hope of remembering his past as tears welled at the corners of his eyes, threatening to pour out. He managed to hold them back with the level-head he was starting to mature into. After a few nervously gentle attempts, he got fixed the tiny mechanism to release and unfastened it before handing it over to her. She was not a hag so, he trusted her with this.

"I know that it's not much to go on, but it's all I have now."

Robyn seemed to sit at more attention, to listen a little more with the information that she couldn't imagine was easy to part with. As he pulled back his sleeve, she couldn't help a curious glance. A further lean to pluck the information for herself. "It's funny how much there can be in a name once you really give it thought. What can seem small for so long, can suddenly feel bigger than life." Her was relaxed for once. There was a warm softness within her eyes, a smile that was barely there but was lined in understanding.

For a student that she had just met, and not with either of their best feet forward it seemed to have turned into something quite unexpected. It showed that with Hogwarts no one every knew what could come of a conversation or even just walking into the library to get some studying done. An eyebrow quirked as he held the bracelet out to her. It was not her place to question his decision, there might've been more to it that she wasn't aware of. "Don't worry, I won't let any harm come to this. I promise." She tucked it into the front pocket of her pants securely. "Well, Sylvain Wyllt, it has been a pleasure proving that I am not a hag. I will owl you the bracelet and any information I find, if and when I find some." She stood up and nodded to him briefly.

She was the Head Librarian after all, and there was still work to be done elsewhere.

After tucking his bracelet into the front pocket of her checkered pants, Sylvain felt certain she would sort the matter out in due time. Even since her arrival to the library, what was an unruly mess of books had become more orderly. Fewer kids managed to linger in the farthest sections of the library in secret, and the elves seemed busier than usual as if being directed how to do their jobs was a necessary position. Robyn was an amazing coordinator and librarian. Even with the nature of their awkward introduction left out in the open, it wasn't much of a leap for Sylvain's mind to make.

Feeling ashamed for his accusations as she mentioned being called a hag again, Sylvain looked to the ground as she stood, his own two feet picking him up once more to match her rising. Looking up from the floor, he sought her eyes to find some sort of approval, or perhaps even dismissal. If she was busy, he would leave her be so she could focus. Instead of finding what he was looking for, he saw seriousness. A seriousness he would no doubt come to rely on if she were going to be sticking around for his higher education. To him, she seemed the sort driven enough to make someone of herself and if she thought he could do the same, then he had made a horrible assumption about her when they first met.

"Thanks Miss Finley," the boy said regretfully leaning in as if to wrap his arms around her waste in apologetic embrace. "I'm sorry I called you a hag," he continued his apology even if she rejected his hug. "I hope you know you made my day." It was true, despite the accusation, she had more than proven she could be trusted. Those kinds of adults were in short supply in the world and Hogwarts was no exception to the rule. "I better get back to class. Thank you for all that you do. Ever since you took the place over, the library has become just a bit more wonderful." With a slight smile, he would leave her to her business, trusting he had something to return to at the end of class.
