Finally A Hiding Spot
Kyden watched her. He could tell she was struggling with something mentally but he kept quiet for awhile. He thumbed through his book. Finally he spoke very softly. "If I wasn't accepted into Hogwarts I would still be at the Wizarding Orphanage. I would be making it day by day, waiting to turn 18 and be let free into the world. Which is exactly why I am grateful I was accepted. I would rather stay here all the time if I could. I can't imagine after being here and having so much fun exploring it will be fun to go back to the orphanage this summer." He stopped talking and looked back to his books. He wasn't quite sure why he just started spouting of at the mouth like that he usually doesn't let people that much into his guarded life right away like that. However he felt extremely comfortable in her company and felt that he could trust her. He hoped his judgment was right. "So then tell me what is your family like? I love hearing about all the different families since I don't really have one. I love seeing how different things are from family to family."

Finally A Hiding Spot
Sophie would shrug. Her family? Well the Rose family tree ended quite shortly (As both of her mothers parents died from Lord Voldemort), and her fathers side wasn't too long either.
"Well, my mum's parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort, and her grandparents died from Dragon-Pox. My dad's parents died from Dragon-Pox too," She left out how she had blamed herself for their death, and why their death was why she was sitting in that very Library. "My mum had no siblings, but my dad has three brothers and a sister. Two of my uncles were killed in the battle of Hogwarts, when they were in school, and the uncle that lived, decided to move to America. My auntie lives here, and she sometimes visits, but most times she is just at her house bawling her eyes out over their deaths. I get grief, but honestly! It happened in 1998! 20 years ago!" She knew she couldn't really blame her aunt, after all, when her uncles had died, her own father grieved for a while. But he got back on his feet, met Sophie's mum, got married, and then had Sophie as a child. Her mother wanted more children, but Sophie and her father agreed that one was enough.
It hadn't been but years after Sophie was born, when she realized why her father only wanted one child. His parents had had more than one, and two of their children died.
"Yeah, but my family tree is pretty cut short anyway." Sophie ended her thought with the only words that made sense.

Finally A Hiding Spot
Kyden listens to her talk about her family and nods. He was pretty shocked to hear her story really. he couldn't imagine the things her family had been through. He thought his life story was sad but her's however was just utterly heartbreaking. "I guess all families aren't so wonderful as I have seemed to imagine. However I bet you love your family all the same. Am I right? I mean it may not be the best and it may be broken per say but your family is still your family right? At least that is how I am thinking of it. Forgive me if I am over stepping any boundaries I shouldn't be." He blushed and stopped talking immediately. He didn't want to anger her or embarrass her so he simply just stopped talking.
He went back to his book. He wasn't exactly ignoring the girl but he wanted to give her the choice if she wanted to further the conversation they had started having or if she were to choose she could change the subject. However Kyden found himself hoping that she didn't simply just get up and walk away from him. He enjoyed her company. She was a very interesting girl.

Sophie stared at him. Her family wasn't the most interesting thing, what was he so embarrassed about?
"No, No! You're fine. My family is just as boring as any other family. And besides, what family, is perfect anyway? Mine sure isn't. And besides, we're okay now." She'd seem to leave out something else.
'And if it weren't for Lord Voldemort, they would've been the most perfect and lovable family, I'm sure of it.' Anger, bubbled from her stomach. If it weren't for the darkest wizard, her family would be hers once more. Without thinking, she let out a growl of rage. Her own thoughts were intercepting her voice.
"Er- Sorry. Just thinking. If Lord Voldemort wasn't a dark wizard, do you think so many people would be dead? Do you think that Harry Potter would be who he his? Do you think all these famous people would be famous? Sometimes I wonder what would've happened to my family, what if- what if, they lived? I would be so much more happier!" A few tears hit her cheek, but refusing to be weak whatsoever, Sophie rubbed them away with the sleeve of her black robes. Her tie lain loosely against her robes, she quickly re-did it. She straightened herself up, if she wanted to complete everything she did in life, she had to be strong about it.

Finally A Hiding Spot
He sat quietly and let her express her feelings. He knew what she meant thought the whats if questions that things leave you with tend to eat at your soul. He learned that the hard way. He let the what ifs eat at him until that was all he ever thought about. What if he knew where his parents are? What if they never put him in the orphanage? What if, just what if?
"Well I speak from experience when I say don't let the what ifs eat at you. The way I look at it is this. If Voldemort wasn't a Dark Wizard somebody else would have been. Maybe Harry Potter wouldn't be who he is today but I am sure there would be somebody who was like Harry. I am positive that if it wasn't Voldemort and Harry it would be somebody else in both positions. To me that's just the way the world works you know. For all we know we could be living in a parallel universe where somewhere else maybe Voldemort is good and Harry is bad. It's weird I know to think of things that way but I think when you do it makes things a lot easier to understand. It makes you not hate life."
He looked at her and smiled hoping she got what he was saying. Sometimes he tended to ramble on and he always had trouble reeling himself in.

Finally A Hiding Spot
Sophie stared, most likely dumb-founded. Kyden was quite right. But then another thought came to her mind. Alternative Universes. She must've read about them somewhere, sometime, but at this time, she couldn't remember anything. Of course, alternative universes were the opposite of parallel universes, or so to speak the Universe they lived in. If Harry Potter wasn't the 'boy who lived' Someone else would be.
Everything was so confusing, or everything to the small scrawny girl, sitting in a Library, talking about something that nobody would know that probably existed. Nobody would know what it would be like to be somewhere else, as someone else, in a world, were everything is changed. Nobody would know, in this world, what its like to be in another world that to them, doesn't exist. And it won't ever exist. In fact, if it did exist, how the hell would anyone know it?
Her own thoughts were meant to be put into words, so she tried in her best of capability to put them into words.
"Well, think about it. Nobody here, knows what its like in another world. Nobody, ever, would know what it would be to be in a different world. A time-turner perhaps might work, or something like that, but nobody would ever be able to experience it, we just have to be happy with the world were in right now."

Finally A Hiding Spot
Kyden listened to her speak and thought for a few moments before speaking. Sure she had a point that nobody would be able to know both realities. But at that same time his motto was where there is a will there is a way. "I think that there has to be a way for people to see what both realities are like. However I also believe that it wouldn't be safe and could cause a whole lot of trouble in the space time continuum and what not. I mean it is probably something that would be to complex for kids like us to figure out of course. However I beg to differ on the time turner. Unless it was enhanced in some way I don't think that a time turner would give us the effect we are talking about. "
Kyden looked down at his book and closed it. This would certainly be something if one could figure out how to effectively make something like this happen. He could probably figure out the ma thematic side of things but at the same time if he tried to do to much he could probably get into a lot of trouble and that is not something he could do now. "Maybe one day after I graduate I will be the first to invent something of its kind."

Finally A Hiding Spot
Sophie grinned a bit. "Well if you are, I'll be cheering you on. However I'm planning to be either an Auror, or a muggle therapist." Sophie shrugged. 'I wish I could be a wand-maker. I'll never have enough skill to be one though. Maybe I should send an owl to Mr. Ollivander, he might help me with it. I'll need books, and a lot of them. Or perhaps I can ask a professor? No point I guess. They wouldn't have any experience in wandlore.' Her mind always raced with thoughts. It was just the way she was. She would always have ideas running crazy in her mind. Perhaps that was why she was to be in Ravenclaw. If her mind never got used to the idea of... well, Ideas, then she would've never been meant to be in Ravenclaw.
She knew the hat was right to put her in Gryffindor. The thought of being brave and daring, was just a thought that came true every time Sophie opened her eyes.
"Hey, is your dorm named after someone famous? Mine is named after Minerva McGonagall. You know, the Headmistress before Winslow." Sophie summed up swiftly. She knew the fact was useless, as most Slytherins didn't care about a Gryffindor headmistress. But, it was always worth a shot.

Kyden listened to her talk. He smiled when she asked if he knew who Minerva McGonagall was. Of course he did! Well of course she probably assumed he was just an ordinary Slytherin. "Well of course I know who she is. After all I didn't think I was going to be sorted into Slytherin I was whole heartedly expecting that I would be in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Umm no my dorm is just a number really. I don't think any of the Slytherin dorms are named after anybody. However I guess I could be wrong."
He looked at her. She was a strange one. They way she jumped from topic to topic was insane. However it kept him alert and his mind engaged. She was a neat girl. He was pretty shocked she wasn't a Ravenclaw though. She would fit in with them. "So are you participating in the Blossomfest this weekend? I am. I have a maze team with 2 fellow Slytherins. We kept trying to get people from other houses but nobody wanted to be on our team. I guess being Slytherins or maybe they just didn't want to. Who knows?"
He looked at her waiting for an answer to his questions.

Finally A Hiding Spot
The small Gryffindor girl shrugged. "People are prejudice against Slytherin's. Like how people are with werewolves, Muggle-borns all of that sort." Sophie said. The Blossomfest, it was one of the most oddest, normal things that was happening.
"Where I live, in Bristol, we have this cute little festival every year, at Winter. And when it snows its absolutely stunning! There are decorations for Christmas, and everyone gathers there, its just wonderful. My mum and I used to participate in the cute little activities. There were Muggles, and wizards alike! And there was this one thing, where the Animagi used to participate in, where they would turn into their animal, and whoever had the most beautiful one, would win a few galleons. It really was amazing. But now that I'm at Hogwarts, we um, can't really participate in it." Sophie would mutter the last part. She didn't have to confide Kyden into her problems.
"I want to be an Animagus." She had said. She realized how blunt she was, one of her worst traits she could have. But, how other way would she put it? She wanted to be an Animagi, but needed someone to help her learn how to be one. And of course, the only person she knew to be an Animagus, was Sergei Yornikovych, the Transfiguration professor. How the hell was she supposed to ask a professor how to become an Animagi, without rousing suspicion?
The reason why, was quite simple when you think about it. She wanted to be a Phoenix. If she became the fire-bird, then she would fly around the castle. It seemed perfect. She could fly around, without being on a broom! And she would be able to answer a lot more questions in her third year.
But what would the professors think? That was the only question bothering her.
