Why on earth Martyna needed a permission slip to go to some random wizard town not that far from Hogwarts itself, the Hufflepuff didn't know.

Why on earth she needed to be a third year was a mystery also.

Really, there wasn't that big a difference between eleven year olds and thirteen year olds, at least in her opinion. It wasn't like when you became a teenager you were suddenly way more mature, way more capable and way more deserving of visiting some cute little village with a pretty little sweetshop and funny little joke shop and exciting little pub. In fact, it was that very sort of thing that led to superiority complexes forming in the minds of third years.

Never was this more obvious than when Tina's older sister Lucie came waltzing into the Great Hall that morning, dressed in Ravenclaw blue with a smirk across her face, a permission slip in hand. A real permission slip. She usually neglected to tell Tina about the sorts of things that you could do at Hogwarts, but apparently felt it necessary to go on and on about Hogsmeade, the magical village that third year and up students could visit if given expressed permission, and the one she'd be visiting this weekend. Neither of Tina's parents were going to deny their darling Lucie an opportunity like this, and so they'd signed without complaint, but young Tina would have to wait.

...Well, she didn't have to.

This wicked thought had occurred to her as soon as her eyes set their sights on the permission slip that morning. It was only a bit of paper; how hard could it be to fake her parents signature and whatever? And so, Tina had nipped out of her Common Room a short time before dinner would be being served in the Great Hall and headed towards an unused classroom, paper and quill in hand (why magical folk insisted on using such an old method of writing, she didn't know) with the intention of forging her way into Hogsmeade.

Squeeaaaaaak.

The door creaked open, and the tiny girl poked her head in, scoping the classroom out for any sign of unwanted loiterers with her dark, sneaking eyes. When she saw nobody, she scuttled inside and shut the door behind her, making her way over to an empty desk and taking out her quill. She had to be careful with how she worded this. How do adults speak?

"Dear... Sirs... and Ma'ams..." Tina muttered, tongue poking between her teeth as she scraped the feather across the paper, hoping speaking aloud might help engage her brain more in some way. That said, nothing could save her handwriting.

Paisley's heart was beating fast. Too fast. In her hand she clutched a Hogsmeade permissions slip. What was so special about that? Only 3rd years were allowed to go to Hogsmeade, and the young Gryffindor was most definitely not a 3rd year. She had walked past the village before on her way to the shrieking shack, and slowly her curiosity had grown. She had to go there. At least once. She had wanted to ask one of her close friends, Allie if she wanted to go with her, but her friend had left the school before she got the chance.

So she had to do this alone. She was alright with it, she had done many things alone. This thing just happened to be very, very dangerous. If she didn't do it correctly she would get weeks of detention-and it would all be for nothing.

She had come across the permission slip when a clumsy Gryffindor 3rd year was late for class. She had been sitting in the common room, watching them from afar. Their papers had fallen out of their bag and spilled everywhere. With a plan forming in her mind she had offered to help, which they had gratefully accepted. When the clumsy student wasn't looking she had picked up the permission slip, that hadn't been signed yet, and put it in her pocket.

With her legs shaking she stood up from her seat in the Gryffindor common room days later. She stuffed the paper in her bag before anyone could see it, and left to go find an empty classroom. It felt as if all eyes were on her as she walked through the halls, and she kept her head bowed.

At last she found a good room. At first she thought no one was inside, and she opened the door. It creaked and groaned with age. Another girl was muttering something to herself, and Paisley immediately stood up, erect.

"Oh! Um...Hello there!" she coughed awkwardly. "I was just...and you see there was a loud boy...and then it was full...and so then I had to run...but...uh...and so here I am!" she concluded, inwardly kicking herself. She sounded like a babbling idiot. "What do you have there? Homework, probably. That's what would make the most sense is having homework...since we're at school and all...and...and..." she fizzed out, glancing at the paper in front of the girl. From where she was standing she couldn't se what was on it. "What's your name? I'm Brown. Well, actually there's a Paisley before the Brown. Paisley Brown is my full name."
