She had done it. Elena had finally given in and decided that to put it to rest, she had to give it a go. It was the only way she was going to put this matter to rest and so she had spent the day normally until the time for dinner came. After leaving the Great Hall, she would slip away from the normal rabble of students longing for the comforts of their dorms and on a beeline to the library. Any normal, logical person would have tried to question the wisdom and logic of what she was doing, surely there was a better alternative to this but Elena true to her house was far too stubborn for whatever reason to accept help on a matter for a variety of reasons. This time however, she wasn't putting her neck out there for someone else, this was a personal milestone and one that had to be crossed. After all, it couldn't be too hard, could it? How much harm could a bunch of books do? Sure, she knew they weren't like your ordinary novels but they were in the end just books.

This late in the evening, she was sure the libarian was probably off kicking out the remainder of the students or wrapping up to close, you could always find a few stragglers. Days of just watching had at least drawn out in her head how to go about this as the Gryffindor entered the libary instantly darting to slink behind one of the shelves. She had scoured this place up and down and had found nothing. There was one thing that pointed her towards the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects but that had been a dead-end. Elena had come to the conclusion that she would have to dig deeper and that meant pushing the rules a bit even against Adlai's persistence though this time, it wasn't anything related to what her Hufflepuff friend had told her. It would be quick, in and out, or so she hoped. After all, how hard could it be to find a book full of content of Dark objects, surely not that much.

The fenced entryway greeted her soon enougn and she eyed the gap which served as the way in. A couple more steps and she would be in forbidden territory. Various thoughts ran through her head, the consequences, what if she didn't find anything, was it even worth it? "It can't be that bad." Elena reassured herself and taking a deep breath forced herself forward until both of her feet were planted solidly within the area of the Restricted Section. The first con that she noted was how dimly lit it was, probably to add to the foreboding gloominess. "Lumos." She whispered watching as her wand illuminated the shelves as she walked forward frowning at the barriers that seperated her from the books. This was going to be harder than she thought.

It was late, well, not quite late. It was just past curfew and she was wrapping up the last of the students that had accidentally overstayed their welcome by getting too involved in studying or writing. She sent them off with an assistant librarian to be escorted back to their dorms. Even a minute after curfew was not a risk she wanted to take in sending them off alone. Her first two months at the school was full of a few instances of chaos that showed her that she really did have to be worried, and it wasn't all dramatics. It kept her extra vigilant, her late night desk naps had long since ended ever since Caradoc caught her sleeping that one evening.

She had just finished all of her rounds and had made her way back to her own desk, she had a bit of work to do to finish up the night before heading out back home. She ran her hands over her face to wipe the tiredness of the day away. It probably wouldn't take her more than an hour to finish up. Most of the assistant librarians were gone for the day, sans the one that did the overnight watch of the library since it technically never locked. The restricted section was almost directly in the view of the desk, for practical reasons. It made it easy to catch anyone attempting to sneak in. Like tonight.

A light caught the attention of the librarian, wondering if there was a stray Professor or assistant wandering into the back section. They should've checked in with her, since she liked to keep track of who was going in there. With her own wand tucked into her cardigan, she approached the back section. When she noticed it was a student, she sighed. This was going to be an interesting night. It wasn't a student she recognized really, but then again she was still learning the student population. She leaned against a nearby bookshelf, crossing her arms and gazing at the girl for a couple moments. Trying to see what she was looking for. Until she remembered that she was supposed to be an adult that stopped students from pursuing. "I can assure you what you're looking for cannot be found, and shouldn't be found in this section. If you'd kindly make your way out." Her voice was soft, but assertive. This was not a matter to be argued with.
Robyn has caught Elena in the Restricted Section, which will result in detention.

For a lot of reasons, Elena could see why this portion of the library was so guarded. Some of the books did not look friendly at all and the various locks and chains keeping them in place only added to the intimdation factor. Her wand light scanned the titles, disatisfaction growing with every passing minute. Perhaps the thing she was looking for was not here at all, still it was a very primitive basic concept Elena refused to believe a school of magic did not have any content on it. Maybe she had just overlooked it, maybe she was going about this the wrong way but the Gryffindor knew she couldn't spend the entire night here. "Has to be here somewhere, come on now." The girl muttered to herself raising an eyebrow at a rather aggresive-looking textbook that had some very strong restraints keeping it shut. A part of her wondered if some of these novels were really as scary as Hogwarts made them out to be.

She didn't have long to dwell on the thought, the feminine voice sounding behind as her glance snapped to see who was, the wand light providing some visibility. Oh, Godric, no. Elena blinked a few times as she stared at the libararian as if trying to affirm what was happening was indeed happening. "I..uh." She started as if trying to come up with a reasonable excuse why a third year would find it necessary to break into the Restricted Section at this time of the night. Any way you looked at it, one thought was ever present in the girl's mind. This was going to take a lot of explaining and none of which had a positive out come. Granted, it had been a risk she knew going into this but not so soon. One thing was for certain however, her exploration misson had come to an abrupt end.

"I..I..got lost. Was just trying to find the way out, place is like a maze." As soon as she said it, she wished she hadn't. Still, it was that small part of her that was hoping that maybe, just maybe, she would be let off just a reprimand. Still, after everything that had transpired in this castle, she wasn't too concerned but as long as she didn't wind up incurring the wrath of her house-mates for losing them points or something, she reckoned she would be fine. Hopefully, it did not come to that. Hopefully. "Quiet night?" A bit of small talk never hurt anyone, as Elena awaited to see what sentence would be passed down upon her.

Robyn made no move to push herself off of the shelves, instead keeping her gaze locked onto the girl, although squinting a bit as Lumos was shone in her face. "Please, Ms. Jangleton get rid of Lumos. We haven't even put out the candles for the night. There's no need. It also doesn't exactly help you be any kind of sneaky." Robyn truthfully would've had a much harder time catching Elena if it weren't for her brightly shining wand in the Restricted Section. There was rarely a time when the library wasn't illuminated, although they kept that section dimmed so students had a harder time peering in to see that volumes that filled the forbidden shelves.

It wasn't even the sneaking in that was the worst part, it was the fact that Elena was attempting... emphasis on attempting to lie out of it, which she was apparently quite horrid at. Her eye couldn't help but twitch in irritation as she tried to keep her face calm and serene. She might've let the girl off with a warning, but with her feet firmly planted in the section and not owning up to the mistake there was no doubt in her mind that this girl would be leaving with detention. "Oh, did the sign at the front saying Restricted Section slip past you? Or maybe the locked up books that didn't give you the sign that you shouldn't be here?" With a sigh, she pushed herself up. "You're not a first year. If you're going to lie, at least do it well. I'm quite disappointed in you." She walked into the section herself to try and herd Elena out since she wasn't moving.

"It was a quiet night, yes." She called over one of the assistant librarians that was lingering for any last minute assignments from Robyn. "See that Ms. Jangleton gets back to her dorm safely." Her gaze returned to the young lion beside her, "I'll see you tomorrow after dinner for your detention. Have a good night Ms. Jangleton."

"Sorry." The girl replied meekly promptly extinguishing her wand-light. Blinding a teacher was not on he to-do list and at the current way things looked, she didn't exactly favor her chances as they currently looked. It was safe to say that yes, perhaps Elena had not exactly thought this all the way through which was clearly evident as she wondered how on Merlin she was going to explain this one to her dad. Well, that is if he found out, she had never really been in trouble before and she did not need to start making it a habit. At worst, she would most probably get a Howler rambling on how about she was a stain to the family and whatnot, the whole speal she had before and as the head libarian made it very clear, the Gryffindor had a whole lot of work cut out for her when it came to the art of sneaking about. Maybe she would leave that for others, this whole buisness really wasn't as satisfactory as she intially thought.

Each syallable that left Robyn's mouth made her feel smaller and smaller as if she wanted to curl up into a ball and just hide somewhere. "It..might have..escaped my attention." She said weakly trying to hang onto her excuse knowing it was futile. Why did she do this? Regardless, she knew it would make little difference now as the girl was escorted out of the area she ought not to be in. Truth be told, she briefly entertained the thought of debating with the woman a bit more but seeing how easily she had picked apart her intial excuse, Elena decided not to escalate the situation further than what it already was. It was just unforunate timing really but perhaps luck was not on her side today. Not that it ever was or so that was what she thought.

That was when the magic word was spoken. Detention. She blinked a few times as if comprhending before nodding her eyes staring very hard at the ground refusing to make contact with Robyn. "You too, Miss." Well, perhaps she should be thankful that they hadn't got any points docked or something, still the idea of spending an evening with someone who probably did not have a very high opinion of her was not how she planned to spend tommorow. Maybe it would be something nice, like sorting through letters or something, she wouldn't mind that and perhaps she could use it as a means to apologize. Yes, Elena decided that would be her plan of attack. She could use it to dispell any false perceptions the woman might have about her. It was at least worth a shot, Elena thought to herself.
