The Last Goodbye
A flick of his wand had Artemis allowing the magic to finish packing up his belongings. He had to admit that he would miss this place. Miss teaching his students. Miss teasing his colleagues. But he knew that it was time to go. He knew that he could no longer leave the raising of his children to his sister. She was finally moving on with her own life and it wasn't fair that she was raising his children nine months of the year while he was in Scotland teaching and damn near dying to the one place he used to call a secondary home. After this last summer, he wasn't sure if he even wanted to send Yuya to Hogwarts when he was of age. It was dangerous...hell it was dangerous when he has started school. But he wanted to make sure that his son would never have to experiance the same traumas that Artemis himself had to go through as a student and even as an adult.
The empty quarters where he had resided for the last year and a half echoed as he walked around the room, making sure that everything was clean and clear of his items. He knew that his more troubled students would be alright. @Alan Vanes would eventually master that spell and subsequently all spells that come after it. He could only hope that he would behave for the new teacher, as he was a stubborn lad when he wanted to be.
@Nico Shymane would eventually learn to have more confidence in herself and her prefect duties and start putting her foot up the behinds of the more ruder students who think that she is a pushover. A little bit of tough love is what that child needed, but Artemis knew that she had it in her.
@Ileen Knight would one day become the best Healer St. Mungos or any other hospital has ever known. Artemis was sure of it. Even if healing wasn't in her calling, he knew that she would succeed and learn to not compare herself to her parents. That will come with time, as doubt will always creep in. But he knew that his words from earlier that year stuck with the child.
@Alexx Séverin He could only hope that this young lady didn't give the new Charms professor the same third degree that she attempted to give him. He hoped that she would give them a chance to prove themselves worthy of being her teacher. Sure, it's hard having a new professor take the place of your favored one, but they deserve the chance to try to be great.
@George Henry He hoped that the lad would one day gain the confidence in himself to forgive himself and ignore those that failed to forgive him. He had to learn that he only did what he had to do, otherwise risk the rest of his housemates to suffer the same fate as the ones that fell into that gaping hole in their common room. George will one day become a brave man, Artemis knew this. The lad had to be. Possibly even the Minister of Magic himself. He had faith in the young second year.
Finally, he hoped that the new professor, whoever they may be, was strong willed and had the mindset to tackle these students and the work that comes with them. They all needed help in their own individual ways and they all had their own quirks and darkness. They not only needed a mentor and teacher, but they needed a friend; someone to listen to them and help them through their woes.
Sighing, Artemis looked around the room one last time. He placed his shrunked trunk and bags in his robes pockets before moving over to the fireplace in his office. He took one last look at the desk and the room around him. He would miss this place, but he wanted to move on with his own life. Grabbing some powder, the man tossed them into the grate, watching the green flame roar to life. Stepping into the fire, he called out his destination and allowed the soot and fire to swirl around him and take him to his destination.
The sight that greeted him as he stepped into his sister's living room brought tears to his eyes as he knealt down to embrace his ten-year-old son and his one-year-old daughter as they both called out his name and held onto him tightly.
He was home. And he wasn't going anywhere ever again.
