The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Maybe she wasn’t as ready as she thought she was. Bravery could only be a front for so long before the panic that crept from your very bones started to ebb its way into control. Seeing Vladimir reminded her of summer, and those three names she knew would haunt her to the grave regardless of how early that grave might be. Her heart started to race just a little to fast, her hands became shaky after that kid had bumped into her, and she knew that it was time to go. Holding it all together was more challenging this time of year.Roleplaying| Santario Martin
Santario slipped her wand away into its pocket in her dress as she moved around people avoiding all the major players of the somewhat minor conflicts. Her breath grew more rapid as it felt like the ballroom was getting smaller, or somehow just more crowded. She needed to get outside to be able to take gulps of fresh air. It didn’t matter to her if it was storming out or not. She needed just needed to be free. Continuing to slide her way through the people to the exit, a hand on a shoulder here a lower back there. Muttered excuse me’s as she went.
Her cousin had seen some danger and left, and that has been the only reason Santario had shown up in the first place. Maybe She was finally starting to get some brains. Now there was nothing and no one to keep her here. Her presence would not be missed as she slipped out of the ballroom.

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Waiting for an answer from the dramatic Headmaster Plott, Maya was still looking around the ballroom. She was busy in a fantasy world with Lazarus that she forgot the real reason why she was there: supervision of students. Maya saw a few students casting spells to each other. She let go of the headmaster with a sexy smile. "Save me the last dance," she said, she she walked away from the man, looking back only once before continuing.
Maya was heading towards the students when, from the corner of her eye, she saw something move from a distance. Her eyes quickly focused on the movement and it became clear: it was a creature of some sort. She could relate it to a doll, but Maya was unsure. It moved fast. She looked back at the students casting spells and shrugged them off. There were other staff in the ballroom that could attend to them. This creature, however, was her first priority.
Maya followed it towards the direction it was moving. As she followed, she saw that the doll had been captured by a couple of students. It was in possession of @Xailah Alptraum, a fourth year Gryffindor student. Maya, not showing her presence just yet, wanted to get a handle on what situation was happening. Did the doll, in fact, belong to her, or was it possessing her? With everything they had been through so far as staff of Hogwarts, possession of someone's body was a thing.
It seemed that no one was happy with the doll. Some were casting immature spells at the doll, but there was one student who had fast the fire burning spell. NOT THIS FUCKING TIME, Maya thought to herself. The last thing she needed was the ballroom having, yet, another makeover. And even more-so, fire was a blast and it would not just hit the doll but Xailah as well. No matter how creepy the doll was, she had to protect the students.
Maya came out from the shadows and cast a water spell against the incendio attack. Although she could use wandless magic, this specific water spell had a series of notches dependent on her strength that would come out of the tip of her wand. She cast the water spell, Aqua Eructo.
"Aqua Eructo!" she shouted, pointing towards the direction of the blast of fire that was heading towards Xailah and the doll. It was coming from a second year Slytherin, @Selim Faust. It was always the younger generations that cause the worst fires at Hogwarts.
ACTION: Cast Aqua Eructo towards the Incendio blast from Selim Faust to protect Xailah Alptraum from getting burned as well as the ballroom from burning down

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
-Interacting with @Jackson Valentine -"Nice to meet you Valentine," Lydia said with a smile, even if she wasn't sure if he could see it with his chin resting over her head. Her heart was still beating fast, the awkwardness she felt did not go away yet; even though she had already danced with August that night, this dance with Valentine felt different.
As they kept dancing around the ballroom, she let her eyes wander around the room, taking in the spooky vibes that the music and the decorations gave: a small shiver ran down her spine, and she wondered why she felt slightly cold. Her thoughts got interrupted by Valentine speaking again, and when she registered his words, she couldn't answer back immediately.
What was she supposed to say to something like that?
It wasn't like what he said wasn't true; life wasn't always easy, it reserved twists and turns for everyone at every corner, she knew that well, and she also knew that for some people it was more difficult than others. But at the same time, living filled people with energy and joy as well.
"You know," she said, her eyes fixed on the boy's scarf "you might be right about that. But life is... it can be unexpected, in the most beautiful ways. There will always be bad things happening, but if they didn't exist we wouldn't be able to appreciate the good ones, and treasure them,"
Once she was done talking, she moved away from Valentine to give him a smile; in that moment however, she noticed that Valentine's expression looked weird, even from behind the mask. "Are you alright Valentine?" she asked him, her voice sounding slightly worried. Or course she didn't know the boy, since they had only just met, but there was something between what he said and his expression, that made the young Hufflepuff worry.

"Are you alright Valentine?"
His eyes opened suddenly, wide in shock at the words she'd just spoken. Not that he was too terribly surprised that someone could see through his fragile shell of a man, but he was a bit embarrassed by this point at his behavior.
"All personal circumstances considered, I suppose I am alright," his eyes seemed to warm up a bit as a smirk graced his lips, the sincerity of his feelings and words could be seen as he spoke. Euphoria crept to take claim of his cerebellum, his skin continuing to grow cooler with each passing moment.
". . . As alright as one can be in this world which now makes no sense to me."
Valentine hardly noticed as it certainly wasn't his first time, though as inevitably occurred when ingesting Fizzing Whizzbees, in his case at least, his body slowly began to rise from the floor beneath them. To Lydia, as she looked up at his face, it would feel as if he was suddenly getting taller until her feet left the ground as well. Coming to float a mere inch or two off of the ground, he continued to sway her without pause or show of concern. If she wasn't held close enough against him before, she certainly couldn't get any closer now.

-Interacting with @Jackson Valentine -The worry that she had felt when seeing the boy's expression seemed to go away when he reassured her that he was alright. Even though he didn't sound too sure with his words, the smile that followed them made Lydia relax; he seemed honest, so she had no reason not to trust him. The young Hufflepuff smiled back at the first year, her eyes friendly and warm, that then lit up in curiosity at his next words.
What did he mean with that?
"Why is that?" she asked, unable to stop herself. "I'm sorry. You- don't feel forced to talk about it just because I asked," the half-veela quickly added, as she felt herself slightly blush. She really needed to stop being so nosy curious.
At first she didn't notice that Valentine was getting taller, but once Lydia felt him holding her tighter, she realised that they were floating a couple of inches above the floor. She tightened her grip on him, her hand squeezing his tight as the other one gripped his shoulder. Of course even if she would have "fallen", she wouldn't have hurt herself from that height, but since she was wearing heels she didn't want to risk spraining her ankle.
"I never thought I would have ever flew without a broom," she chuckled, her lips turned up in a genuine smile. She was really having fun that night, she had made new friends, and now she was dancing in the air. She kept dancing and swaying with Valentine, following his lead, and a couple of minutes passed before she spoke again. "So, are you form Hogwarts? Or maybe from Durmstrang?" she asked, genuinely curious to know more about the boy.

"I'm from House Gryffindor," he replied. A grim pursing of his lips would suggest to her that he'd rather not discuss his state of being. It was a dance after all, and Valentine had intended for this heated act of passion to tear his mind away from the problems that bothered him. At the final twirl in a series, he allowed his arm to dip just enough to cause Lydia's balance to be off, inducing a backward lean to her figure as he dipped her in turn; About the end of her words. For a moment he just held her there, allowing a bit of the blood to begin rushing to her head as his ephemeral, steely-eyed gaze met her own. She was quite the dancer, and a looker for sure; Smart as a whip.
"I didn't think you would recognize me. Hardly anyone does. It's one of the benefits of being one of the most forgettable faces in the crowd."
He remarked before finally, slowly recoiling and hoisting her upright once more. Though he had seemed to be beyond the sways and twirls of their beauty, it appeared that he was still clutching her close to himself, still suspended a couple of inches or so off of the ground. As he awaited her response, it began to dawn on him once more, that despite not having any clue who this girl was, she seemed so familiar to him.

[font=PT Sans]“ GAHHHHHH!!! “ Hanako knew he was an easy target when it was clear he lost to Crappy Cookie girl when it came to high ground. How nice it was to be one of the many people taller than him. Either way, he was obviously not at all prepared for what’s to come. As a flash of forgotten views accompanied with lights and clear figures of other students around them, he shrieked out a squeaky cry as his first instinct before his hand attempting to pull something from his pocket to wave over his face. Anything to block out the sudden light.
There he stood in an odd pose of closing his eyes, hunching like a vampire at the sight of bright sun with his hand awkwardly over his face as if there was supposed to be something in his grip. Realizing he was holding nothing but thin air, he straightened his posture, puzzled at his empty hand.
“ Oh shit what a minute that B R A T STOLE MY FAN!” @Martyna Romero he groaned angrily, remembering the horrid memories of being that Moon’s date. She had insulted him, called him creepy, used him to make her other bratty friend @Starlee Kennedy jealous, left him to be heartbroken for a stupid hunt and stole his ducking fan. As if he was holding in his urge to pounce on her and swack her with the nearest pillows, he dug his hand in his hair, lightly tugging his hair frustratingly. His night was not going well at all.
“Ummmmm..no?????” that didn't sound confident at all but he skeptically answered anyway, slowly realizing his mask was still on. But that didn’t make him confident in his oh so secret identity. The mask he wore was more of an eye ornament than a mask. It was not originally his intention to cover his existence but that was before poopoohead pei @Opeila Winters stole his date-ish @Percival Rainwood and getting dumped by a dramatic loony 1st year.
“ OKAY FINE ITS ME, HAPPY? Now give me back paper bag chan. I’m trying to follow the customs of the party y o u planned. “ he huffed, trying to reach out to Ileen’s grip on his Paper Bag Chan.“ cmonnnn crapppycookiie girllll Im really not in the mood to jest I honestly just want to steal someones cloak and hiiiidddddeeee . I have other places to be now that you’ve ruined my chances of getting a date here“ he whined.

Lydia didn't know why, but it made a lot of sense that the young boy she was dancing with was from the house of the daring. Over her first year and beginning of her second one at Hogwarts, she had the chance to witness how the lions were indeed quite brave, each of the ones she met in their own peculiar way.
Valentine clearly didn't seem like he wanted to talk about his feelings or what was going on through his head; the young Hufflepuff girl couldn't blame him, a dance was made to have fun and free one's mind from their worries, even if just for a little bit. Deciding not to push the topic, she smiled again at him, her lips turned upwards as they kept dancing. Then, her mouth formed an O in surprise when she felt Valentine making her dip.
She really wasn't expecting it, she had never had the chance to dance like that, so all she could do was tighten her grip on the boy's shoulder and hand just to make sure that she would not accidentally fall. Her eyes met Valentine's, and she felt her cheeks become slightly brighter; she listened to his words, but waited to answer them until she was back on her feet once more.
"I don't think you have a forgettable face," she said as she adjusted her hair behind her ear "I haven't been around much this year, beside classes and the duelling practice, so that's probably why I didn't recognize you. Also... sometimes it's better to have a forgettable face and not being noticed, rather than having people's eyes on you all the time," she slightly shrugged, and readjusted her hand over the boy's shoulder, making sure that she would not go back on the ground. Her face had gotten a little bit more serious as she talked, but before she could let it get to her too much, she put on another smile, before she continued talking.
"I do think however, that I haven't seen you around the castle last year. Are you a first year?" she asked as she tried to recall if she had seen Valentine in one of her classes during her first year or this one.

Illowy couldn't help but pass her cousin a raised brow as he attempted to brush off Erin's actions towards her. Honestly? Had Erin turned the rest of his brain completely to mush? Only part of her was totally surprised by the blonde's behavior; it seemed like just about everyone her cousin got involved with, at some point or another she could expect to get into an altercation with them. However, this was the only time any of them dared to try to put a hand on her. Something in her gut told her this wasn't going to be the last altercation with Erin either. After all, they were in the same house.
As the lad shrugged and started inching towards the action, hesitating, also giving her a pleading look then his trademark smile, "Don't do something stupid." she warned before he starting scurrying off for Erin, calling back at her, "Love ya, ya thick headed dolt." she muttered with a roll of her eyes before looking back around her. Things were starting to get a bit heated. Spells were being cast, punches thrown... honestly, couldn't they have one night of class?
Slipping her mask back on, her pale eyes surveyed the Ballroom before starting back the way she had come, trying to find Ruby once more. She hoped her date hadn't left the party all together, and she had a sudden sink of guilt in her gut for having abandoned the Prefect to clean up her cousin's mess. She made a mental note to herself to try to come up with a way to make it up to her later. But for now, she needed to at least make sure she was okay. After all, she'd made a promise to herself to keep Ruby safe, and with tensions in the ball rising, now was the best time to make good on that promise.

Vladimir was quite frankly, one of the last people anyone would ever want help from. Given his current track record. And having knowledge- thanks to personal experience, and certain Slytherin boy- of how he had..."helped" other students in the past; the lions weren't too keen on having his assistance. In fact- Vladimir really had no business in trying to help either "damsel". Why had he been so quick to engage in a search? It wasn't something to make a big deal of. Had it been a normal student playing seeker, not much would have been thought of the action. But this was Vladimir- and he was quite far from being a "normal student". In fact, he was quite far from being a student, really.
After being hit a few times... thrown accross a ballroom, stabbed by your roommate- you eventually lose sense for the little things that once hurt. Punching. Kicking. A few quick, repeated hits, evoked pain, sure. But one firm touch on the upper arm? That was enough to evoke mild confusion, at most- even from one so physically sensitive as the metamorph. While the hit itself- the one from the short, dark-haired boy- provoked little reaction, Xailah knew that the bruise that would accompany the attack, was going to result in some griping for a few days. At most. The same however, could not be said for Xailahs friend, Meenauh. Meenauh was a tough girl, though the metamorph was certain the Gryffindor had never actually been attacked physically. Up until now. Xailah stooped to grab for her target- the doll- only to straighten just in time to see the ever-elusive Ravenclaw, clocking her fellow lion cub. He really hit her. Meenauh was probably going to wake up with more than just a bruise in the morning. Meenauh didn't deserve to get slapped around by some kid that the metamorph had provoked.
Minutes prior to his engagement, Vladimir was merely a nuisance- someone that the Gryffindors (and most of the student body) wanted gone. But as soon as his fist made contact with Meenauhs person, he became an enemy. All his attacks upon friends, had been indirect up until this point in time. The direct attack, would be his first mistake tonight. His mistaking the lions for sheep would be his other. Sheep didn't fight. Walking away would have been the easy thing to do- the simple thing. He should have just walked away. But now he had himself cornered. There was no way he could cover up a physical attack, and maniacal shouting. Not when a professor was now approaching. A cast spell however? Easy cover up. I meant to cast near you, not at you. Oops. Nerves you know? How was Vladimir going to explain knowing so much about the doll running about?
Maya Galim wasn't exactly the most reassuring face to see, coming to the defense. Considering what had happened the last time she had rushed to help a student (I'm sorry Maya). Maya was quick to arrive, and even faster to the draw. She was determined to make sure the ballroom didn't go up in flames. Again. She was determined postpone tradition. She probably wasn't going to have to do much to prevent it- especially since the aggressor appeared to be the target of a certain blondes wrath. Xailah looked down at the doll she had snatched up. It was limp in her hand- rendered still by Meenauhs Immobulus. It pleaded, its little mouth moved with each word. And what was that? A twinkle. Its dark eyes glistened with a strange sort of wetness. Was it really alive? Was it crying? Only living things could cry, could they not? The metamorph was once again conflicted.
Did she step out of the way and let the Incendio hit the thing? Did she drop it and try to avenge Meenauh? Did she try to save it- no- she couldn't save it. It would come back to kill her friends. She couldn't take that risk anymore. They were too important now. She had given the doll several chances- and well, seeing the current situation, chances didn't go over well. Killing was woven into its... fibers. Nothing would change that- not even all the care that the metamorph had provided for it. "I'm sorry." It was nothing more than a whisper. Something only the doll would be able to here. If that doll was going to be destroyed, she was going to be the one to do it. She was the one who brought it into this strange world, therefore she had every right to be the one to take it out.
