A Courtyard Re-acquaintance
Private RPG w/ @Harmony Ruth
Eliza walked out of potions, having returned her homework much earlier than the professor asked. As her orange curls bobbed, she was moving at a steady pace towards the stairs. She watched as they transitioned from on side of the room to the other, noticing that they almost went in a rhythm. The loud, large paintings hummed, waving to each other and gibbering away. As she moved up to the grounds floor, the great hall was filled with gobs and groups of students laughing away. She had intended to go sit down, but all of the Gryffindor table spots were filled up and taken. She decided to head outside, leaving the blasting room behind her.
As she looked up into the foggy sky, she wondered what she would do for the hour and thirty, make that now twenty nine minutes she had left. She remembered so, that in just the previous days, she had owled a fellow first year, though in Ravenclaw, and had planned to meet in the courtyard after her Potions class. The frost and snow covering the vast mountains and trees, she walked outside, mittens on and scarf wrapped around tight. It was cold out, considering that Christmas was only 15 days away.
As she sat down, she looked around for the girl, forgetting what she had looked like. Eliza had been quite tired on the train. It's not every day that her and her parents had to drive 50 miles non-stop to a train station in a complete other city. And two younger brothers along with a cat and an owl sure didn't help the situation. As the snow fell onto her eyelashes and nose, she shivered slightly, watching students of all years, running about. A small group of 4th years were having a snowball fight, and one 6th year had built a Snow-Hippogriff. Laughing at the sight of these hilarious activities, Eliza smiled, and set her scroll and book filled satchel down.
When Eliza was bored, she would name the different types of animals that had and do roam Hogwarts, but in alphabetical order. "Acromantuli, Basilisk, Centaurians, Dementors," She whispered, continuing on. She had stopped at N, not thinking of any that she could remember. Eventually giving up, she opened her bag, grabbing out a golden homemade biscuit. She took a bite, opening her copy of Fantastic beasts and where to find them, her fvorite text book to read for fun. As she flipped through pages, landing slowly on F and G creatures, she instantle spiked. 'Mmm. Nargles.' She thought, remembering that was an option. Though she had ended the game, she sat in the cool weather, reading through.

Harmony made her way through the hallways and to the grounds. She had already eaten earlier, so she didn't slow when she came across the Great Hall. Harmony pulled her scarf and mittens tighter around her as she stepped out of the castle. It felt like the temperature had dropped 10 degrees!
Looking around the grounds, Harmony saw older students having snowball fights and one kid had made what looked like a Snow-Hippogriff. Harmony saw a girl with orange curls and round glasses sitting against a tree. If Harmony remembered correctly, that was Eliza. Eliza had owled Harmony asking if they could get to know each other. Harmony walked up to her quietly, not wanting to interrupt her reading. As she got closer to the girl, Harmony looked over her shoulder and saw that she was reading about an animal called Nargles. She was very surprised that the girl hadn't looked up and noticed Harmony squatting next to her. "Nargles? What are Nargles?" The girl jumped and Harmony quickly said, "Oh, sorry. I'm Harmony Ruth. You owled me a few days ago wanting to hang out. Also, how are you not cold? You're sitting on snow!"

Eliza had been reading patiently, when a voice behind her said ""Nargles? What are Nargles?" She gasped, almost falling over. As she saw the girl, she instantly recognized her as Harmony. She was very nice on the train, and expected her to be nice now, but a person can never be too sure, and she expected the worst, while also, expecting the best."O-oh! Harmony! Hehe, Hey!" She stood up, brushing the snow off her robe and sitting down again. "It's good to see you,"She smiled, opening her book up to the page about Nargles. "A err, Nargle is a creature that makes a person's brain all fuzzy. They feel delirious," She said, doing a hand motion of a spiral above her head. She chuckled, closing the book again. She smiled, as Harmony mentioned the cold.
"Well, outside of hogwarts me and my family live in a pretty distant, cold climate. I'm pretty used to cold, since most of the time when I had noting to do, I would hang outside for hours. " She smiled, setting the book down. "I'm glad you came! It's good to meet other people and get acquainted when you go somewhere new."

Eliza opened her book back to the page about a Nargle. When Harmony had startled her, she had almost fallen over and dropped her book. "A err, Nargle is a creature that makes a person's brain all fuzzy. They feel delirious." Eliza did a sort of spiral hand motion above her head then chuckled. She smiled as she closed the book. When Harmony asked if she was cold, Eliza had said that she lived in a chilly place and was used to being cold. Eliza put the book down and, looking at Harmony, she said, "I'm glad you came! It's good to meet other people and get acquainted when you go somewhere new."
On the inside, Harmony felt her smile fade away, but on the outside she simply nodded before muttering, "Or anywhere." Harmony snapped her mouth shut. She hadn't meant to say that. It wouldn't feel right to talk about not having any friends, besides her best friend Paige, when she was making a friend at that moment. Harmony caught Eliza looking confused so Harmony looked around for something to change the topic with. "Yeah, I'm glad I could come too. So...what's your favorite class so far?" She asked Eliza.

Eliza smiled as she felt concerned for her. Though, not being the most public person, she did make sure people weren't troubled or hurt. Since she had been alone for most of her childhood, she decided she'd try to cheer her up. "Hmm, favorite class.... Though never been, I'm excited to go to Herbology! Out of the one's I've been to, definitely Potions. How bout you?She asked curiously, cocking her head.
Not only did she want to know more about Harmony, she wanted to befriend her. She was quite lonely herself, and thought it would be best for the both of them. Trying to spice up the conversation, she mentioned "So, you collected anymore Choco frogs?" She fished around in her satchel, taking out a small handful of only five, then finding the sixth in a secondary pocket. "I've got a minor handful, and my luckiest out of here's outta be.. Orsino Thruston! You know, plays for the Weird Sisters? She smiled, setting them in her lap. Though not having that big of a group of cards, nor any rares, she still enjoyed having the amount she did. Learning about them and playing with her brothers was something she enjoyed to do.

Harmony was worried when Eliza gave her a look after she had said that it would be nice to might someone anywhere, basically saying that she wanted a(nother) friend. Harmony really wanted to be Eliza's friend, and she wasn't sure how Eliza would take it, but she didn't seem to be hurt or upset. She went on to go along with Harmony's topic change and answered with her favorite subject, Potions. She then asked Harmony what her favorite class was, to which she responded with,
"I think my favorite class is Astronomy. I've always been a night owl, so to speak, but I'm never allowed to stay up! I also think that the stars and planets are pretty interesting." When Eliza asked if Harmony collected chocolate frog cards, Harmony's face contorted in confusion.
Eliza pulled a handful of cards out of her bag and said. "I've got a minor handful, and my luckiest out of here's outta be.. Orsino Thruston! You know, plays for the Weird Sisters?" "Oh! Are the chocolate frog cards the things that you were talking about on the train?" Eliza nodded. "And what are the Weird Sisters? Some kind of club? Keep in mind, I'm muggle born, also."

Eliza smiled as Harmony answered Astronomy. She had never heard anyone answer that. It's usually transfiguration, charms, and Eliza liked that Harmony was different. When she asked who the weird sisters were, she gasped, and remembering she was a Muggle-born, she decided to explain."Well, the Weird Sisters are a Wizarding band. They're really good, too!" As she told her, she smiled, and without notice, her eyes turned a little more yellow. She continued, and smiled, pushing up her glasses.
Not telling Harmony she was a Metamorphmagus, she thought it would freak her out. So she decided that it would be best to one, not tell her ever, two, keep it a secret for a while until they get to know each other, or three, tell her now. She considered these, deciding to ask her another question. "What exactly is a, Video game? I met someone in the library drawing a character, and I was confused. Do you know anything?" She shuddered, as snow fell into her scarf. Having heared much from Karkat, she still didn't understand the point, or how such things were done. She wanted to try one, and she what it was like to "play a video game" like the muggles did.

Eliza gasped when Harmony said that she didn't know what The Weird Sisters were. "Well, the Weird Sisters are a Wizard band. They're really good, too!" Did Eliza's eyes just change color? No. That's not possible. But they did!
"What is a video game? I met someone in the library drawing a character, and I was confused. Do you know anything?" Eliza shook Harmony out of her internal battle. Harmony looked up. "Huh? Oh video game. Well I don't play many, but it's kind of like a movie...no wait you're a pure blood. There isn't anything wrong with that, it's just that you probably don't know what that is. So you know how the pictures move, right? Well a video is kind of like that, except the people stay in one screen as they act out a story. A video game is like a movie, but you can interact with the screen instead of watching it. Here let me show you."Harmony pulled out her phone and opened it. "I do not have a signal."Harmony said in a bit of a sing-song voice that more to herself than Eliza. She put her phone back in her bag as she said, "Anyway, it's something that you can interact with on a screen like an interactive movie. Does that make sense? Cause I kind of lost myself."

Eliza looked at the small device, eyes aglow, as it set a spark off in her mind. She was racing, wanting to know more. "Huh? O-oh yeah, that makes sense!"She laughed as Harmony complained in a sing song voice. She wondered about it, how they would be able to fit so much intelligence inside a square."It's fine, I'm not hurt when people tell me I'm a Pureblood."She smiled, asking "What's your favorite... color. or activity, either one!"She laughed, looking at Harmony with a kind expression on her face.
She liked talking to Harmony. She noticed it made her feel good about herself. They'd definitely have to meet up again. Though being a Pureblood, she wasn't the most connected with what other witches and wizards did. Yes, her family had magic ALL over their house, they still didn't communicate with many others except for her family. She loved people, just, interacting and spending time with them, including conversations, was a skill she lacked at. Despite lacking public skills, she was great at many things, and those many things were often her hobbies. She smiled, shiverring a small bit at the breeze of cold air that flushed past them, and off through the wind.
