A Slytherin and a.... RAVENCLAW?! PV Paige Clo

It was a great day out. Paige walked over to the lake. She saw a girl sitting there. She couldn't be too sure but she thought she recognized her from the Leaky Cauldron. After slamming into a second year and falling from a tree onto a boy, she thought she couldn't go any worse than that. She walked up slowly. I wonder what house she's in? She could hear the girl humming her favorite song from Frozen 2. Yes. She still watched that stuff. Paige was glad she wasn't the only one. Paige loved to sing. She wasn't going to sing now, but the girl already got that song stuck in her head. She was probably going to sing it later if it got too annoying. The best way to get a song unstuck from your head is to sing it. Out loud. Paige didn't mind, she just did it when she was alone. Singing in front of people made her self conscious. Her feet padded in the soft grass making no sound. She looked down at her bracelet and took a breath. "Nice day, isn't it?" Her English accent hung in the air as the girl turned around. Paige chuckled to herself.

I jumped. A Ravenclaw was standing behind me, I instantly got defensive. ¨Wh-Who are you and what in Heavens name do you want?¨ I was scared, if this girl was anything like anyone else she was in for it, I kept my hand on my wand just incase, I didn't like attacking anyone, but I would if I had to. I stared the Ravenclaw girl up and down, eventually deciding she wasn't a threat, I relaxed. ¨Im Natalie, Natalie Mock, you may be familiar with my twin Natalia Mock. Shes real popular.¨ My voice had softened from the defensive tone I had had before. ¨Sorry if I scared you, my experiences have not been the best lately, The Great Lake is the only place I feel safe anymore, other than in my dorm I mean.¨ I made sure my voice was gentle and kind, so that I wouldn't scare her anymore than I ad, I adjusted my glasses, they caught the light slightly, I let down my brown hair and adjusted the red streak, I didn't have my red contact in today. ¨Wait, aren't you the girl from the Leaky Cauldron?Didn't I get you some cocoa?¨ My curiousness surprised me.

¨Wh-Who are you and what in Heaven's name do you want?¨ The girl placed her hand on her wand. Paige didn't react. She crossed her arms and kept a natural look on her face. Shes' been in situations like this before, except people had their fists up, and not their hand over wands. Sometimes her trick didn't work and she ended up having to fight. That was before she became shy, of course. Now she isn't shy anymore. She went from daredevil to shy, to semi daredevil. In any case, she was ready to fight if she needed to. The girl relaxed, deciding Paige wasn't a threat. Paige uncrossed her arms and smiled. "I knew you'd come around." She now was 100% percent positive this was the same girl from the Leaky cauldron. The girl's voice lost its defensive tone. ¨Im Natalie, Natalie Mock, you may be familiar with my twin Natalia Mock. She's real popular.¨ Paige shrugged. "maybe, but I don't think so. I'm Paige Chase, by the way." Natalie adjusted her glasses. ¨Wait, aren't you the girl from the Leaky Cauldron? Didn't I get you some cocoa?¨ Paige nodded. "For which I was very thankful." Paige held out her hand and put on a formal tone. "The names Paige Chase. I like it when people call me Chase, but I haven't told anyone yet. Muggle-born, first-year Ravenclaw. Nice to meet you" Paige laughed in spite of herself. Being formal was funny.

I smiled, I liked Paige. Er, Chase, she seemed nice enough. I studied her, she was a bit taller than me, but that was fine, it was ok. I looked at Chases eyes, they were pretty, like a secret was hidden there, I smiled realizing I had been silent for a bit. ¨Sorry for the silence, I'm not used to people talking to me...¨ I smiled a bit and messed with my Pride ribbon. I knew this conversation was going badly, I turned back to the lake watching a giant squid swim past, ¨I uh... Im a pure blood, dont hate me, my grand parents are, were, people who had decided Pure Bloods were superior, but I have never met them, so my head is not tainted. Meaning I would never call someone a mud-blood.¨ I touched the water bending down and staying on one knee, it was cool and refreshing, she kept her guard up incase Chase decided to push her, which I figured was unlikely, but one could never be to careful. At least that's my opinion, I have had it happen to me before, when I couldn't swim, I ran my hand across the surface. I liked the water, even though I almost died in it.

Natalie looked Paige up and down for a couple of minutes. ¨Sorry for the silence, I'm not used to people talking to me...¨ She messed with a button. Paige looked at it and realized it was a pride button. Back at home, Paige had a group of friends who were lgbtq+, but their school banned gatherings. They protested with signs and pins made by yours truly. The school refused to stand down so they took the case to court. They won the case. She snapped back to attention. "well, you better get used to it." Natalie turned to the lake. ¨I uh... Im a pure blood, dont hate me, my grand parents are, were, death eaters, but I have never met them, so my head is not tainted.¨ Natalie sat down and Paige sat with her. "why should I hate you? As long as you don't call me a mudblood, I'm fine." Natalie seemed tense as Paige sat down, as though she thought Paige was going to push her in. "I wonder if that squid is friendly. I am dieing to go for a swim." Paige took of her shoes and dipped her feet into the water. She told Natalie her story about fighting for lgbtq+ rights with her friends. "I don't know what I'm yet. I help make up the 'q', I guess." Paige shrugged. You never know what could happen in this world.

Natalie smiled, a Muggle-Born swimming with a magical creature? This was going to be funny. ¨We should just go inside? I hear the Care Of Magical Creatures teacher is letting 1st years pet his magical creatures. We should go check it out!¨ Natalie was watching Chase, hoping to God she wouldn't actually get in with the squid. ¨I hear he has BuckBeak out, the one Harry rode, though he is alot older.¨ She held onto her Pride ribbon, if Chase jumped in there and the squid pulled her under, she would have to go in after her, and Natalie didn't know many spells. Not one that would cause the squid enough pain to let Chase go, AKA a friggin nightmare! ¨You have to be, pardon my french, batshit crazy to go in there. Especially considering the fact that a giant squid is in the area. You could get killed, or worse, expelled!¨ Never had Natalie imagined a RAVENCLAW of all houses, would be the one over here tryin to swim with a giant squid. She honestly thought they were smarter than that, Ravenclaws were supposed to be wise. Not this one apparently. ¨Please don't jump in there... I cant swim and you could die...¨ She had started pleading.

¨We should just go inside? I hear Hagrid is letting 1st years pet his magical creatures. We should go check it out!¨ Paige laughed and looked at the lake. Natalie was worried. ¨I hear he has BuckBeak out, the one Harry rode, though he is alot older." Paige nodded. "Very funny, that was years ago." Natalie sounded annoyed. ¨You have to be, pardon my french, batshit crazy to go in there. Especially considering the fact that a giant squid is in the area. You could get killed, or worse, expelled!¨ Paige laughed again. "I've read that somewhere!" You could get killed, or worse, expelled! She took out a paper bag and tossed some food into the lake. She was annoyed when a tenticle didn't grab it.. She threw some more. Natalie was desperate now. ¨Please don't jump in there... I cant swim and you could die...¨ Paige stopped. This girl- this Slytherin, cared if she died? Paige tossed in some more food. "Look, Natalie, I've done many crazy things before. I really do want to swim with him, but I won't. Ravenclaws are smart." She looked at Natalie. "But we can be dumb sometimes. Sorry if I scared you." She tossed some more food as the squid came closer. "I have a way with animals, trust me. Besides I'm a great swimmer. And if it makes you feel better to say, I'll have my wand-" Paige didn't know much spells, but she smiled. "-to stab him in the eye with and say bad giant squid, bad!" She laughed. She could tell Natalie thought she was stupid. Paige sighed and got up. She slid her slides on and tossed the last bit of food into the lake. "So, are you staying at Hogwarts for the holidays?"

Natalie sighed in relief. Thank the heavens. ¨That could only make him mad...¨ .She caught a glimpse of a giant squid. ¨Not all Slytherins are heartless ya know, I am brave and cunning and sly, but I do care for others safety more than my own...¨ The tentacle disappeared under the water, Natalie seemed impressed with herself, her own words rang in her head. ´Not all Slytherins are heartless ya know, I am brave, cunning, and sly, but I do care for others safety more than my own...´ She smiled, those words were the same ones her mom had said before she and Natalia had left. And they had come back to her, Natalie looked at Chase, ¨Its cold, lets go inside.¨ Natalie started walking, the hill was steep, and hard to climb, but she had managed, at the top of the hill Natalie stopped and looked over the Great Lake and the mountains. ¨Come on!¨ She kept running, her own speed surprising her, it really was amazing. Running like this, the wind whipping her face, the cold nipping at her ears, her hair behind her. It was the most amazing feeling ever. Like she was bird. Free and no worries.

Natalie sighed in relief. Paige looked around for the squid. She hoped that Natalie knew that she wouldn't actually swim in there, it was against the rules. Paige wasn't much of a rule-breaker, but you never know. This world was crazy! She was getting kind of cold. Natalie replied to Paige saying she would stab the squid's eye. ¨That could only make him mad...¨ Paige chuckled. "He shouldn't try to drown me, then" Natalie looked at her. ¨Not all Slytherins are heartless ya know, I am brave and cunning and sly, but I do care for others safety more than my own...¨ Natalie's voice trailed off in a smile. Natalie started walking. ¨Its cold, lets go inside.¨ Paige grabbed her things and started following her. She tightened her scarf around her neck, winter is coming very very soon. Paige loved winter. Curling up by the fire, snowball fights, hot cocoa, it was just the best time of year. oh wow, Natalie is fast. Natalie was halfway up the hill before she turned to Paige. ¨Come on!¨ Paige shook her head and started running with a smile to Natalie. Paige stopped once she was at the top of the hill. It was a great view. She turned to Natalie and gave her a tiny shove. "Tag! your it!" With that Paige started running, her laugh carried in the wind.
