It's Literally Just Fur Pet Finished

Time had passed since she had gotten out of the hospital after the tragic events in her life. She was all alone, and it was very saddening to be all alone, whether you like it or not. Kara's parents had suggested that she use the money she's saved up to by herself a pet. She remembered her past cat of her childhood, Milo, and she decided to get a cat, which brought her here.

"Cling!"

The bell rang as she stepped into the quaint shop, she looked around with chocolate eyes, glazed over with a slight glimmer of emotion. The smell of animals, and for some reason sugar, swelled around her in an intoxicating aroma. As soon as she had stepped in, a woman behind the front desk perked up.

"Oh hello deary!" She said in a singsong voice "Come here for a pet now?"

Well, wasn't that obvious? She thought to herself. As the woman walked up to her, she saw that the woman was a few inches shorter than her, was wearing a nice blue and white floral dress, and her white hair was flowy, down to her shoulders.

"So missy, what's your name? Mine is Anita Witticker!" Anita said.

"It's Kara Capricorn, ma'am, nice to meet you." Kara replied to the woman, who's hand she was now shaking, and it seemed as though Anita was shining through her cold soul.

So bright! Kara's inner thoughts exclaimed.

As Anita let go of her hand, she turned towards a door, most likely leading to a back room, as she called out someone.

"Ernest, come here, Miss Kara here has come for a new furry, or scaly, friend!"

It seemed as though the moment the man's name was uttered, he appeared through the door. He then stood next to the woman. At first glance, Kara thought he was actually Santa Claus, as he was very jolly looking, and also looked like he gave really good hugs, that of which Kara probably needed. He had on a red flannel shirt and blue jeans, as well as some small, wired glasses.

"Ernest Witticker at your service," He said, so the two were married...not as though Kara was surprised, as they reminded her of grandparents. He held out his hand, which Kara was now shaking.

"So ma'am, what are you looking for? Any certain type or species you lookin' for?"

"Well, I'm looking for a cat, one that's very loyal and cuddly." Kara said, running a hand through her short, brown hair.

"Oh really? Any reason you seem pretty specific on your choice for a little kitty?" Anita asked.

"Oh! I- um, well!" Kara's words were now being thrown everywhere as she looked for what to say. It was pretty personal, but she could tell that Anita wasn't trying to be rude, instead, just curious.

As she kept stuttering, her voice cracking from holding back tears more and more, the two storekeepers looked at each other with a look of both pity and understanding.

"Don't sweat it kid, it's alright if you don't want to answer." Ernest finally interjected.

Kara's eyes landed on his, and she took a deep breath. Anita looked at her sympathetically, then placed her wrinkly hand on Kara's shoulder.

"It's alright deary, follow me, I can show you where the cats are. I'm sure that you've been waiting for long enough." Anita said, her voice instead of being cheery, it was now laced with a comforting tone.

Anita lead her towards a section of the store which had cats lined in pens, and they all started to meow or purr at the sight of her and Anita. There were cats with long fur, short fur, some were speckled, and other were tabbies.

"Take your time dear, you can look through them, and don't worry, you can touch them! I'm gonna grab you some cookies, as I feel like you need a nice warm treat right about now."

"Thank you, ma'am," She muttered.

As Anita walked away, Kara looked over the array of cats, but all of them seemed to not be the right one, not the type she was looking for, until she landed on a cat that was almost pure white, with gray and silver undertones and splotches. It was also very fluffy.

It looks like it's literally just fur. She thought to herself

"Hey there kitty, how are you?" Kara whispered softly. She stuck her finger through the bars, to which the cat rubbed it's cheeks on, purring loudly. As the cat's fur made contact with her skin, she suddenly felt a rush of calm go through her.

The cat stopped rubbing against her, now opening it eyes and looking into her dark brown eyes to reveal beautiful, pale green eyes, gazing into her own.

"Ah, so, I see you've chosen her?" Ernest appeared behind her to say.

"Oh! Yeah, she's the one." Kara said, slightly startled by the sudden appearance of the man.

"What a wonderful choice my dear!" Anita said, also randomly appearing, but with a plate of sugar cookies, which smelled so good. Anita offered her one, which she took happily, stuffing it into her mouth, let's just say, Kara thinks that Anita is a great baker.

"So, what are you going to call her, Kara?" Ernest asked.

Kara took some time to think, munching on the cookie and looking into the cat's glimmering eyes.
