Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

Percival truly hated mornings. The boy despised waking up early, and no matter what he tried he always seemed to be late for breakfast. It wasn't like he hadn't put any effort into trying to be on time. The boy would wake up earlier than normal to try and leave enough time for him to wrangle in his hair. Percival's naturally wavy hair was a pain to deal with in the mornings. Getting it to perfection, by Pureblood standards, was a time-consuming process. This fact was only part of the reason why Percival was waking up earlier than usual.
The boy wanted to try and see if he could catch Selim again. He wondered if the mysterious black-haired boy would be in the Courtyard again. Maybe he would be hanging upside down again. Percival threw off his covers with little to no grace. The chill of the dungeons made his skin prickle in discomfort. It was clear that the weather was turning, and the close proximity to the lake was not helping the dorm room stay warm. Percival's feet dangled over the side of the bed as he sat upwards. The boy rubbed at his eyes clearly not enjoying being up so early in the morning. He fumbled about for his slippers wishing he could cast Lumos. Though, Percival doubted his dormmates who were still sleeping would enjoy the bright light. So instead he felt around for the soft fabric of his blue slippers.
After locating his misplaced slippers, the boy slipped them on quickly. Eager to keep the chilly air away from his bare feet. In the darkness of the room, Percival could make out the black shape of Pom on his web above Percival's bed. The boy would make sure to grab his pet before he went to breakfast, but for now, he would let his companion relax. Percival stood up making his way towards the bathroom. Taking care of avoiding the lump on the floor. Hanako was less of a morning person than he was, and he doubted the other would appreciate waking up to a foot stepping on his stomach.
Percival entered the bathroom with a little thrill in his step. Though that was to be expected, he wouldn't be really awake till he got a cup of coffee at breakfast. The boy wished he had a way of getting coffee right when he woke up. The walk to breakfast was always a long and annoying one. Percival shook his head before going about his morning routine. The majority of his routine went by quickly, but as usual, his hair took the longest to deal with.
Once his hair was thoroughly groomed, the boy exited the bathroom. He felt much more awake now that he was refreshed. Even his walk seemed more alert. Percival made his way to his trunk, opening it up to grab his school uniform. While the uniform was rather bland it was a blessing in disguise. The boy had noted awhile ago, the lack of thinking he had to put into his outfits was wonderful in the mornings. Percival changed out of his pajamas and into his school clothes not putting much thought into it.
The boy sat down onto the edge of his bed to put on his shoes. The black shoes were one of his favorite pairs, and the ones he wore more often than not. The shoes were rather plain in design with a buckle wrapped around the collar of the shoe. There were no other design elements to the shoes, not even laces. Percival pulled the shoes on before holding his arm out for Pom to climb onto. The black spider had been slowly moving down towards Percival as if it sensed the boy was preparing to leave. The weight of the large spider suddenly on his hand made it dip slightly. Though Percival quickly recovered the small loss in elevation. He brought his hand to his right shoulder letting the spider transfer itself to his shoulder. With that Percival was finally ready to leave for the Courtyard.
Percival stood up and walked over to the sleeping lump that was Hanako. "Hey Hana wake up. I am heading out early to go find Selim. Do not fall back asleep." the boy muttered to the other loud enough for him to hear. As he spoke, Percival rocked Hanako's shoulder slightly in a jostling manner. With that, the boy stood up from his crouched position. It would be up to Hanako to make sure he stayed awake. If he fell back asleep he wouldn't be there to wake him up again. Percival grabbed his wand before going to exit the dorm room. Though he found himself stopped at the last second by a suddenly more alert Hanako.
" WAIIIITTT "
".....I have... "
"errands... 10 minutes. wait .. "
The boy would let out a small sigh as he gave into Hanako's request to wait for him. He didn't understand why Hanako would want to come along with him. Especially this early in the morning. Though Percival wouldn't turn away the other's willingness to accompany him. Company always made the walk in the morning easier. So Percival parked himself on his bed, lightly petting Pom as he waited for Hanako to get ready.
Once the other was ready to go, Percival would stand up and make his way out of the dorm. The two would make their way out of the dorm and out into the corridor. Percival's shoes clicked into the stone flooring as he walked down the corridors. The sound seemed to reverberate off the walls slightly. Crisp and cold. It reminded Percival of how his Mother would walk. She had a knack for exuding power into every sharp clip of her heels. Percival wondered if he would be just like her when he was older. Sure he looked like his father, but he surely didn't want to carry the aloof nature his Father carried. Boring and rarely apart of anything of grand stature. It brought a sour taste to his mouth at the thought of being that insignificant.
Percival entered the Courtyard looking about as inconspicuously as possible. Though it seemed all for not, as it appeared Selim was not here this morning. A small frown played on his face as he debated what to do. He knew he should have expected that Selim might not be in the Courtyard, but he was still annoyed to have woken up early for nothing.
Percival huffed before walking back through the archway and into the corridors once more. The boy would ignore any looks Hanako possibly may have given him. Percival stopped suddenly as he noted a figure leaning against the wall. There sitting inconspicuously was a boy he vaguely recognized writing in a journal of sorts. A smirk pressed into his face as he decided on the perfect way to increase his mood.
The boy would elbow Hanako slightly a smirk replacing his earlier frown. Percival would part away from Hanako without bothering to discuss his plan with him. He took long strides towards the other boy. His shoes would clip harshly into the stone floor due to his slightly quickened pace. The blond-haired boy would stop right in front of Nick.
"What do we have-" the boy would start before being interrupted by a certain furry creature. Pom had decided right now would be a great time to transfer himself to another human being. The Black Webber would jump from Percival's right shoulder onto the head of Nick.

Wrong Place at the Wrong Time
Nick woke up in a cold sweat, his breaths long and hard. He couldn't calm down, after another night of terrors, all too real for his liking. Night after night he's had to endure it with no end in sight. In his First Year, Nick would've said find the root of the issue, that'll solve it, but finding that didn't seem to work. Now Nick supposed he'd just have to tolerate disturbing dreams, mild morning panic attacks, and waking up early from now on.
As Nick scooched his way out of bed, he noticed the dim light of the dawn sun creeping onto the chilled stone walls and floors. That was one of the perks of being in the dorm closest to the Great Lake, he could tell what the time of day was in the dreary dungeon the Slytherins inhabit. There weren't many others, as being this close to the Great Lake meant this dorm got a lot colder than the others. Today was no exception, as Nick quickly threw his robe on.
That light also meant that trying to get back to bed would be a futile effort, since as soon as he found the ability to sleep again, Nick would surely be woken up by his roommates. So, doing some light writing would be good for now. He reached by his bedside to grab his notebook, which was leaning against Chance's pen, who was still fast asleep.
The dorms were much too dark for writing at the moment, and Nick didn't feel like holding his wand and casting Lumos in one hand and writing in the other one, so he decided to venture to the lighter parts of the castle. Stepping out of the dorms, and out of the common room, the dungeons were even colder than them, so Nick quickly tried to make his way out of the damp halls, gripping his cloak tighter.
As he approached the Courtyard, Nick thought it better than to go outside. Normally, the dawn cold wouldn't bother him too much, but there was something about today that just made him want to seek warmth. So, he found a spot on in the Corridors and slid down the wall, quickly opening his notebook to begin writing. They would soon be filled with other students, but the surreal quiet would be good for now.
A positive that came from the nightly terrors was a lack of writer's block as Nick started the day. He flipped to a blank page and started writing a story of last night's escapades. This time Nick found himself in darkness, he could see shadows and hear things, but they were foggy and muffled. He tried to call out for help, but that's when he realized he couldn't breathe, and any attempt to move his limbs to escape the darkness was impossible.
Many of these terrors seemed too much like the occasional vision Nick would have, which concerned the boy deeply. He knew that these visions could be metaphors and all, but would he or anyone close to him have to look forward to the fate he was writing about? The visions he has during the day, like the girl who got mauled by some kind of canine, seemed to be true, so what about the night ones?
Trying to distract himself from his ever darker thoughts, Nick tried to switch over to writing something lighter. Writing something about Chance could be fun, but then he remembered the embarrassing story he wrote before and completely scratched it. As he continued to think, a voice broke up the thoughts. He didn't even realize there was one at first before quickly looking up to see a boy who looked to be around his age.
Just as Nick looked up to respond to the voice above him, a small object on the boy's shoulder jumped off him and towards Nick. As it came over and landed on his head, he realized that it was a spider and fear set in. He yelped and threw up his hands, his notebook flying out of them, which caused Nick to panic even more. The tarantula was lucky Nick's flight sense had kicked in rather than his fight, otherwise, there'd be a dead tarantula in his hair rather than a live one.
Nick attempted to swat the tarantula off of his head, hoping it would find another place to call its home. He didn't want to kill the creature with these swats, he wasn't cripplingly afraid of arachnids, just very standoffish. He turned to the boy in front of him, glaring heavily. "Keep yer pest in check, ye knob." Nick said viciously towards the boy in front of him. He wouldn't be nearly as catty and confident if Nick realized his notebook was open and vulnerable.

Wrong Place at the Wrong Time
[font=PT Sans]He liked to call it the undeniably inevitable impulses of a friend. Would you like your friend to hang out with creepy people that are obviously too wrapped up in their own world to have the ability nor the energy to make someone else happy? Unless you were an asshole, Hanako assumed you wouldn’t like that. Well, that’s exactly what he did. Just being a normal non-problematic protective friend Percival deserved. What else was he supposed to do? Let Percival continue the path of ultimate heartache? Hanako might’ve let him suffer at the hands of Opeila, which- as he predicted had both of them ( mostly Percival ) emotionally burned to crisp. Never again, Hanako thought. Not if he was there to stop it. Even at the expense of his sleep.
Just the thought of Percival talking to Selim had jumped him awake, grudgingly tagging along despite numerous protests his hazy brain and droopy eyes made. He guessed Percival wasn’t in the best mood as well but who the hell cares? As long as he was there next to him, there was no way he and Selim could have a conversation. And that’s enough for him. Hanako had almost succumbed to the comfort of sleep multiple times just trailing along the blonde, and was about to make it the 5th time if not for Percival’s sudden shift in attitude that made the drowsy Japanese, raise an eyebrow. What was that playful look for?
He watched curiously as the blonde made confident strides to a familiar stranger. At first, he was like ‘ huh?’, but then Percival said the overly used line bullies made before starting their fun that made Hanako's face shift from puzzled to an ‘uh oh’. It looked like he had forgotten a crucial detail to his whole goal to be a decent person for Percival. And that was that Percival himself wasn’t what most consider a ' decent' person.
As if someone had heard his inner pleas, Pom had taken Nick’s head as another brach to walk on and had forced Nick to display a reasonably shocked reaction. While Hana’s wishes of the spider getting swatted away were not met, he let out a tired laugh, amused at the stranger’s glorious reaction. This certainly was a better scene than a secret underground fight club.
“ Don’t mind Pom “ he assured in a tired tone laced with a hint of playfulness. “ He likes to play just as much as I and Rainwood do~” he regretted saying the 1st thing that came to his mind. God knows, he had to watch his words when he’s trying not to get on people’s nerves. But it was different this time. After seeing Percival eyeing the untouched book Nick had flung, his current dilemma set in. Gripping on the faint hope Percival had only wanted to give it back, he reached out for the book’s spine, making sure the contexts were closed and hidden from his sight. Maybe Percival just wanted to compliment Nick’s choice of notebooks? “ Well...this is a nice book you have “ while he intended to genuinely compliment Nick, it was hard to tell if Hanako was sarcastic or not just because he had used the tone people used when learning a new language. Compliments, to him, were basically a new language.
Without thinking further, he gently handed the book to Percival, secretly pleading the boy also had something nice to say about the book.

Percival watched the boy freak out as Pom made its home in his hair. A smirk edged on the boy's face. Finding it funny that the other was reacting so strongly to his pet. Though, his facial expression dropped into a glare as he realized what Caelan was trying to do. "Stop you might hurt him!" he snapped before stooping over the shorter boy. Percival smacked the boy's hands away from the Black Webber. Before he quickly scooped the spider back up to the safety of his shoulder.| Outfit |
Black eyes glared holes into the boy who sat below him. "He isn't a pest he was just curious." he snapped at the boy. Percival would be lying if he said he hadn't gotten overtly attached to his newfound companion. Even though he had owned the spider only for a few months, he found himself enjoying Pom's presence. Along with his attachment came a sense of protectiveness to those who disliked his spider. In his mind, the other boy had attempted to harm his pet only adding to his dislike of the other.
Percival's gaze flicked away from the boy down to the book that Hanako held out to him. The notebook had completely slipped his mind. That was until his friend physically reminded him of its presence. The boy took the book from Hanak's hands his curiosity peeking at its closed-off nature. Taking a cursory look at it he studied the front and back of the book in quick succession. Percival could practically feel the secrets held within oozing out of the pages. He wondered what secrets it held, and he wondered if the boy had any he didn't want to share. "Is this your diary?" he said in a condescending tone.
He snickered as he opened up the notebook in a rush. The boy backed off away from Hanako and Caelan as he flipped through the pages aggressively. A tear could be heard audibly as the boy slightly ripped a page after flipping too hard. Percival began to read out one of the latest entries. "The flowers kept whispering into the pink pygmy puff's ear!" he started his voice growing louder as he spoke. The boy couldn't contain his snickers as he looked at the next couple of words. "We believe in you!" he said chuckling to himself. Percival's gaze looked back up towards Caelan to see his reaction.
