The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
While some students socialized, taking advantage of the costume party's peaceful ambiance, others- such as Jess Malters, scanning for signs of trouble- seemed to sense that this tranquility wasn't destined to last. Serena and Sylvain had been given immediate cause for concern when they witnessed Breana disappearing beneath the beverage table. Serena, spurred by her helpful nature, was quick to take a peek beneath the tablecloth. Sylvain opted for a more cautious approach, calling for his friends Remi and Willow before outright levitating the table itself. With a raise of his wand, everyone would soon see the terrifying sight which Serena was witnessing: a grotesque burlap doll, gripping a pretty piece of fabric and trying to wrap it around Breana's face. It was something straight from a nightmare. Breana was holding the horrible thing at bay, but just barely (strength roll: 6>4).Moderation Post(Guidelines)Reducio-This is a moderated event, please do not roll for yourself!

Mikael didn't really know how to react to the situation slowly getting more out of hand by the second. First of all the short white-haired boy appeared to not be intimidated. Normally this would not be a problem for him, but the boy was soon backed up by what looked to be a Professor. Mikael grit his teeth as he weighed the odds that were slowly stacking against him and his comrades. The boy did his best to reign in his thoughts. Mikael held his breath until his chest slowly tightened. As if someone was pressing down onto his sternum. He slowly let his breath out feeling calmer than he had felt before. Though the growing mess, outside his head, came to a head when some shrimp decided to punch Mikael.
Simply, Mikael felt pissed as he watched Charles waltz over and punch Yefim. The boy had little reason to punch the boy so suddenly. Sure Yefim smashed a few pumpkins, but that seemed too small of an action to warrant the other's reaction. Mikael wondered what the boy's end goal was. It appeared as if the other was just simply bored and decided to jump straight into the fire without a plan. He swore that Charles would not be bored for long. Mikael was personally going to pulverize the boy into a pulp for even daring to attack his friend.
Mikael turned to round in on the boy but was beat to it by a now chocolate-covered perfect. The boy didn't remember how or why the boy was now covered in chocolate. Though, he doubted this would help their chances of getting away scot-free. Mikael weighed his options before taking a step back to signal he wasn't going to do anything for now. "I hope that was worth it, because I'm gonna invert your rib-cage later." he said in a cold, but calm, tone.
The boy glowered at Charles even though the other could not see his face. He wasn't ashamed of the fact that he had willingly quit the Durmstrang's Quidditch team. It had seemed like the most logical thing to do. Mikael didn't want to work with anyone else but Yefim. Broom racing allowed for that. The boy didn't really know Yefim's reasons for quitting the team. Though it wasn't like he had ever bothered to ask. While he cared for Yefim his dislike for feelings often outweighed that fact. Mikael cocked his head to the side slightly as Charles tried to instigate a fight. "Do we really look that stupid to you? he sneered.
Mikael grit his teeth as the lady asked for their names. It was to be expected though. Things had gone too far for them to be let off with a warning. "I don't see how any of this is my fault." He said his voice brimming with indignation. It rubbed him the wrong way that he had only been here for less than ten minutes and he was already getting in trouble. Sure he had tried to intimidate a few shrimps. What's the big deal? Mikael didn't exactly have a plan to get them out of this. Though it appeared that Yefim was one step ahead as he blurted out a few random names. Mikael wasn't about to ruin the other's plan. Deciding to play along for now. "Seriously?" he dryly muttered at Yefim.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)

It was going well, Breana was not going to last long like this. The cloak muffled the sounds of her struggle, and she couldn't escape. The burlap sack would have grinned evilly if it could, feeling the sweet excitement of getting everything she ever wanted. Breana's friends, Breana's school, Breana's whole life. Wildly shaking Breana's wrapped up head impatiently, it needed to keep her panic high, or she might accidentally figure out how to survive the attack. She would be the one treated like a ragdoll here!
The feeling of sweet success was short lived however, as a floating head appeared through a created gap in the tablecloth. Weird, but whatever. The deed was nearly done... just a few more seconds... but then, light poured in from all sides as the table started to levitate into the air. With the sound of crashing plates and spilled, sticky sugar drinks getting dumped all over, she swore she could hear some gasps and squeaks as well. Yeah... this certainly didn't look good for her. Of course, she knew that she was the real Breana, but her 'fit wasn't complete yet! What if they thought she was... gasp... ugly? What if they made fun of her for strangling someone? It was more than her fragile teenage heart could bear ignore the part where she doesn't have a heart. This wouldn't do, she needed to bolt.
Action: Take the cloak and run away/ attempt to evade the scrutiny of her classmates

It didn't take very long at all for the hauntingly vivid memory of last spring to come flooding back. The smell of smoke and blood drenched his senses as the image of those creepy dolls dragging Bre's poor unconscious form off into the woods hurt his heart all over again. Professors Equinox and Browne had come charging to their rescue then, but were nowhere in sight now. He'd read all about these little mimics and how they operated in hopes of stopping them should he see one again. Sylvain had been prepared to face the worst, and now the worst lay in front of him tormenting his housemate in the form of stabbing her with needles, strangling her with her cloak and pulling out her hair. It wasn't fair that she had to suffer like this. Hadn't she been through enough already? It was time to put a stop to this doll's bad behavior.
The table was still held aloft by his magic thankfully, albeit it was held aloft unsteadily and constantly under threat of falling back to earth if he lost his concentration. Which could happen at any moment. Sylvain could only watch as the creepy lookalike stood up and began to speed off in another direction without so much as goodbye. Where would it go now with all these eyes to witness it? Where had it even come from to begin withH? If it ran in his direction, the lad would have gladly kicked it as one would a football, but the creature was shifty and evasive. Since he had some experience fighting them from before, and had read up on them, Syl knew well enough that something within the doll needed to be crushed in order to kill it.
Looking to Serena, whose face he began to recognize from the summer quidditch match but hardly had the time to think about why, Sylvain commanded her help. "Do anything you can to catch The Dark Misfit," he said pointing at the grotesque mannequin with his unoccupied hand. "The forsaken thing has Breana's hair inside it. Kill it quick or it'll come back to haunt her again." He would then step forward and try to help Breana to her feet. He wasn't going to be able to levitate the table forever.
and where were his friends!?!

She had been pondering all week whether or not she ought to attend the costume party, an internal debate that was still going on as she slipped inside the Rehearsal Room, dressed in a pale blue hanfu and holding a delicate paper parasol. If she was being honest, she felt a little silly for wearing it, but other people would be wearing costumes too... right? Right? Ugh, who knew? This was Hogwarts. Nothing was ever how she thought it would be.
Her nerves were only worsened by the sea of unfamiliar faces that greeted her as she walked in, twirling the parasol nervously. It also didn't help that she had decided to come in at the exact moment the table lifted and the grotesque scene occuring underneath it was revealed. Juniper couldn't see what was happening very well from where she was standing, but what she had seen already was enough to make her want to run away and hide in her dormitory for the rest of her life. She let out a yelp of fear and shrank away, pressing her back against the wall and shutting her eyes instinctively, willing her dinner to stay where it was in her stomach. What is that thing? Why is it strangling that girl? How is it doing that? Why is it alive in the first place? Why the hell is Hogwarts so weird? Maybe it was all a trick, a prank pulled by the other students to scare everyone. Juniper edged along sideways, determinedly facing away from whatever the hell was happening over there and scanning the crowd for a familiar face.
Come on, anyone... just anyone... Juniper's eyes finally landed on one Arissa Wright, and she hurried over immediately. She wasn't exactly sure where she and Arissa stood at the moment - the blonde's wit and craftiness was something to admired, for sure, but at the same time she scared Juniper a little... just a little. Were they friends? Allies? Mere acquaintances? It was always so complicated these days. "Hey," muttered Juniper as a greeting, voice shaking slightly from the fright she had received on her way in. She stared at her shoes, feeling a little self conscious about her outfit. To be honest, she was a little nervous to meet Arissa's piercing grey gaze, unsure of whether she would find scorn or joy. "What the hell just happened? Care to fill me in on," here she waved at the floating table, "that?"Free Action | Talking to Arissa.

Arissa's OutfitInteractions - @Juniper Yu
Mentions: @Sylvain Indarys @Flash Holmwood @Breana Oliveire
When she said chaotic, she only meant some pranks here and there. Never had she expected it to involved a fight. No, make that two fight. One involved a group of boys, which honestly didn't surprise her at all, and the other, was more...unique. Arissa was observing everyone in the room, so the scene of someone being pulled under the table was hard to miss. She merely thought it was some sort of mischievous pranks, but it seemed that the people closer to that scene have a different idea - and they were absolutely right. As the boy levitated the table, a rather horrifying scene appeared beneath it.
But Arissa didn't scream. Nor did she move. She just stared.
The table was not exactly close to where she stood, but the distance was enough for her eyes to discern what's going on. A doll, one that Arissa had never seen, was choking another girl, a scene that shocked the blond girl, causing her to unconsciously took out her wand in her pocket.
A doll. A girl. A fight.
That's the only thing Arissa knew. She had no idea whether this was merely acting as a means to liven up the Costume Party or not. Biting her lips, she merely observed the scene until she heard the sound of footsteps approaching her. In a rather bizarre costume Arissa had ever seen.
It was so shocking that Arissa couldn't help but blinking her eyes rapidly and stared at the other girl blatantly for a moment. Of course she knew that as this was a Costume Party, it's a given that the occupants would wear something different from their normal clothes. However, it's far from what she expected.
After all, Arissa herself adorned what can be seen as normal. Black dress, black lace gloves, black socks, black headband, and black blazer hanging on her shoulder like a cape. Yes, she was fairly normal.
Despite her slight confusion, she still answered the question.
"I'm afraid that I can't give you a proper answer, as I was merely watching the scene. However, I do know that there's a fight going on under the table, and I suspected that the girl was being pulled under it before that happened." There's a slight pause in her words, before she continued, "To be honest, I'm not even sure whether this was merely acting or their part or not."
Her eyes turned towards the unknown girl once more. Her brain was trying to match the girl with the students she had been interacting with but unfortunately, she found none. While Arissa had prided herself as a proper lady who was known for her intelligence , her memory regarding people was not that much. She could recognize them in their normal school robes, but not when they dressed themselves so lavishly.
"So," she started. Her eyes were glancing warily at the other girl. "Do I know you?"
Perhaps it's because she was too dumbfounded, as Arissa had disregard whatever polite interaction she was trained in. No, this time, she was straight to point in her question. There's two questions that's been on her mind right now.
'What happened between the doll and the girl?' That's the first question.
'Who is this girl?' That's the second one.
Her wand was still on her hand, despite the fact that she was answering the question, and her grey eyes trained on the other girl's face. Arissa had glimpsed the sight of the doll bolting from the table, so she couldn't take any chances. The probability was low, but well, it's better safe than sorry.Action:

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
Of the great many things Solomon expected to deal with here at the Costume Ball, a... Dark Misfit.
The doll would scurry off, the rough burlap form and the dark tuff of hair, it was a crude representation of its intended. A monstrosity to which the Headmaster had only one answer for "burn it". What was an event at Hogwarts without fire? The words left his thin lips lacked volume, it was not a demand. His hand would reach for his waistband, for the holster that held his wand. A length of familiar aspen wood that felt both rough and smooth underhand. He would maintain a firm hold on the shaft and a cold chill would run through his body.
The fleeing misfit. His eyes narrowed. Was it the child or the dark creation? There was a twisting knot in his stomach, had the girl undergone the change? That was the part that the books failed to mention, how the doll would progressively take on the features of the girl. When they have taken enough, eyes just as... brown was it? A smile just as wide. Their stature would elongate and resemble that of the girl's. Their rough cloth more like flesh... They just lacked a beating heart.
"Get away from it!" He would shout but honestly he did not hear the words escape his own mouth. It was like he was underwater. Muted. Muffled. Half-forgotten. He pointed his wand and waited for a gap. A moment where there were no students near. The Costume Party was not nearly as densely populated as the ball, but the Rehearsal Room was a smaller space. As if he was looking through the scope of a rife, he followed the departure of the the doll and upon the most opportune moment he would fire.
"Bombarda Maxima" he announced, his wand aimed at the doll. Their intention simple, destroy it. Destroy it before she... it escapes. A fifty-fifty chance was not particularly in the old man's favor, but it was small. The girl, whoever it represented could not be that far gone could she? Anxiety gripped him, regret as that magic surged from the tip of his wand and released with explosive force --

The literature only mentions what the homunculus is, not how to destroy it or even if it could be destroyed. For some, there was the consideration of the ethical ramifications of killing a sentient, albeit evil "entity." They were as they were made, they had a drive to survive and to be. Did that make them bad or did that make them 'human'. What makes one human is not always humane.Dark Misfit
A doll made of rags and string, the innards are filled with sawdust and a bit of hair. Three full pieces of hair, including the root. The first from the maker, the second from the child whom the doll is intended to take the likeness of and a third from a unicorn. The duality of the pure unicorn hair and the dark marker's hair is a powerful catalyst for magic. The doll is sentient, but not entirely alive. However, this doll has ambitions and its greatest want is to become the person whose hair they possess.
Dangerous magical constructs, these dolls appear inanimate and indistinguishable from normal dolls. While they are usually featureless, these dolls do make efforts to make themselves look like their intended victim slowly over the course of weeks or even months. Mobile, they are rarely seen moving. These dolls prefer to move at night. Incapable of casting magic spells and not particularly strong, these dolls are incredibly mischievous and their 'pranks' often prove deadly for their intended if they remain unchecked.

Balls, they could never go quite right at Hogwarts could they? There always had to be something, and Willow always had to get herself involved. Even if she didn't want to be, even if she was trying her best not to be. She was here, with her boyfriend, talking to friends, eating some weird pastries, it was a good time. Until it wasn't.
She idly noted the fight happening in the corner that Pericles eventually was trouble shooting, followed by the new librarian driving home whatever message they were trying to send with two people confront the Durmstrang boys. There was conversation happening around her, but she wasn't quite tuned in. Rather, she was very distracted by the wide array of candies and treats set in front of her for most of it. Even Jack had faded to the background in her mind, she was young after all and sweets ruled overall.
That was until one of her friends called out for her. It was a familiar call, one that she heard over summer when Sylvain released all of his chocolate frogs by accident and she had bravely come to the rescue. Her head snapped up, attempting to find the prickly cactus among the crowd. Eventually her eyes landed up him lifting a table, revealing Bre undergoing an attempted smuggling via terrifying doll. Her hands dropped whatever treats she was holding, and immediately went for her wand. Sylvain was keeping the table up, and helping Bre to her feet. There was a vague notice of even the Headmaster casting a spell, but she was already in motion. She stepped out from behind the few that she had been talking to, confidently pointed her wand and shouted, "Immobulus!" If they could get it to stop moving, they could capture it.Action ✿ Casting the Freezing Charm at the Creepy Doll

All the Durmstrang BoysRobyn could admit that she was not the most intimidating person ever, and it was obvious when it came to the Durmstrang boy's reactions that they were not at all seeing her as a person of respectable authority. There were certain students that she knew a single hard gaze from her would get them to stop what they were doing, but boys like this? It didn't matter who you were. They wanted to do what they wanted and would do just that no matter who got in there way. She only grew increasingly frustrated as they all spoke Russian right in front of her knowing she probably wouldn't be able to understand. This was not at all how this night was supposed to go. She expected to be a wallflower, someone that could coast through the night while making a respectable appearance enough for the students to recognize that she was there to support them. But no, people just had to cause some trouble.
Names were given, some jab at the Hogwarts students not being troublemakers was thrown, though if they knew the Hogwarts population that would not at all be the case. Nevertheless, they all began to walk away. As far as Robyn was concerned, if they ceased to continue the trouble making here it wasn't hers or Pericles' problem anymore. That wouldn't be the last problem of the night, however, and Robyn was really wishing to have been tucked away in the library rather than being here.
It wasn't an empty statement, when Caradoc told her she would develop a reputation at the school. And this seemed like the first night where some of that could be defined. With the commotion happening behind her she turned around to spot... so many things happening. A table was lifted, a young girl being suffocated, something running away under a cloak, spells being thrown. Robyn's mind whirled at what course of action she could take to assist, there seemed to be so many spells aimed at the doll already, might as well cut of it's one way of leaving the room. She withdrew her wand from the inside of her cloak, moved around Pericles to get as clear of a shot as she could and casted the Wind Jinx at the doors to shut them. The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
The entire party had been witness to a horrific scene: Sylvain, levitating the beverage table, exposed Breana being attacked by a burlap doll. With too many eyes upon it, the foul creature tried to flee. It darted for the door, freeing Sylvain to pull the evidently shell-shocked Breana to her feet, simultaneously leaving the dark doll exposed. The Headmaster was formerly a professional monster hunter. He recognized it for what it was, saw an opening in the group of students, and rose his seasoned wand to obliterate the intrusion. But there was something wrong. Lear had suffered horrifically at the hands of the hags. That doll was a reminder of the dark prison which had held him for so many months, a remnant of his personal hell, and it was here in his school. Hogwarts was not safe. They had been invaded. His haunted mind betrayed him, weakening his willpower, and the Bombarda Maxima backfired. What was enough force to tear down a brick wall was instead smashing into the old man, putting a dent in the weak aluminum armor he had chosen for his costume. Blessedly, Lear's fall was cushioned by the pretend pumpkin patch, leaving him clinging to consciousness atop a bale of straw.Moderation Post
Willow Anderson, heeding Sylvain's call to action, was quick to cast Immobulus as soon as she spotted his cause for concern. The wretched little monster had been bolting for the door, but it was stopped in its tracks by the spell. It couldn't move no matter how desperately it wished to escape the scrutiny of its "peers". Robyn would further prevent it from fleeing, additionally eliminating the risk of any students entering at that moment. Her wordless Wind Spell slammed the door shut with a resounding bang. The threat was trapped and immobilized, for now, though there was still the matter of trapping the thing and aiding the bombarded Headmaster.(Guidelines)
