Margaret walked up the steps to the chilly owlery, wearing a heavy coat and gloves. She shook fiercely from the cold. Just send the letter, then you can get out of the cool she told herself, rushing up the steps. She quickly reached the top, spooking a few owls, by practically sprinting up the stairs. The cooed and flapped their wings ferociously then calmly tucked their wings back in and laid down.

She went over to a barn owl, that she knew nobody owned because she had secretly tied a small red ribbon to its foot. She always struggled to find an owl that wasn't owned and was a school owl so she tied a ribbon around it to mark this one, if someone owned it they'd probably take it off. She tied the scroll to its leg and whispered her address in its ear and went to the balcony to help the owl push off and fly.
"Sorry," she said, to the owl, knowing it was probably freezing too, but it was only the beginning of winter, it would only get worse from here, and she promised her family to send them a letter at least every month. The owl fell a little when she first pushed it off but it quickly sprung back up and was off.
She stood there watching it for a second, the owlery had been the first quiet place Margaret had been since she got here. She loved Hogwarts but sometimes she just wanted some time alone.

She sighed, breathing in the cool fresh air, and turned around to leave the owlery and get back to warmth, but as she exited she heard a patter of feet coming up the staircase and the owls fluttered again, so she moved out of the way to let whoever was coming into the owlery. She tucked her chin under her down-feather coat so warm her nose. She looked up to nod, as a gesture, as if to say hello at the person who was coming in as they entered the room....

A part from the time she had to spend time with his grandfathers at their house because her dad had an accident, and he was during almost a year at the hospital it was the first time she was far away from home and her parents. That's why she kept trying to send a letter at least one time per week.

It was time for dinner, so before going to the Great Hall and eat she wanted to go to the owlery as she thought there wasn't going to be anyone there, and she would have more time alone, as since she came to Hogwarts hasn't had a lot of time for herself.

She grabbed her coat and put it on as she knew that it was going to be so cold outside, and more at the large stairs she will have to go up till arrive to the owlery. Before she left she also grabbed the letter which she had written after arrive from class in her dorm.

As she walked to the owlery she saw most of the students go to the Great Hall to have dinner, but she kept her way to her destination.

She arrived to the large stairs which she goes up once a week. When she finally arrived upstairs, she stopped to catch some air. She kept her head down and hands in her pockets as she tried to cover most of her body.

Finally, she entered to the owlery, when she noticed, it wasn't just her in there, there was one more person. She raised her head to see a ginger girl in front of her trying as she was to cover most of her body with the coat. The girl nodded with his head and I showed her a shy smile worrying if I was bothering her.

Um... Hey, I thought everyone was at the Great Hall having dinner, if you want to be alone I can come later or tomorrow I said almost turning to go through the door and back down the stairs.

"Oh no, not at all, you're fine," she said with a small, kind smile. "I came up here too, assuming everyone would be heading to the Great Hall, as well. You probably came up here to be alone too hu?" Margaret knew this all too well. She didn't by any means hate people but it was tiring to have to be around them all the time. And of course, she couldn't send the girl back. If it was me I would say I'd come back later but I know I wouldn't. I'd be too afraid of the cold to go back. You're already here no need to go back anyway? Along with that she also knew that it would give Margaret anxiety to wait through all of super trying to remember to send the letter and then eventually forgetting when she went back and finally went to bed, finally about to fall asleep and then jutting awake. I knew I had forgotten something, just couldn't remember what, and then you'd be leaft feeling anxious for the next day, not wanting to forget again the next morning and feeling the need to have to get up and go do it or you wouldn't be able to go to sleep. Margaret couldn't do that to someone, she knew the scenario all too well.
She also knew how much the girl probably missed her family, Margaret did for sure. It was her first time away from home and it had been pretty hard the first week to be without her family. Margaret had other chances to be alone, she could go to her dorm before everyone else got there and sit there, alone, quietly, just sit, and stare, and think some other time. Usually, she'd just say hello and goodbye and have just a quick interaction but no interaction was just a quick hello and goodbye at Hogwarts. It wasn't a large school, on things considered, so she mine as well at least make good acquaintances with the people and she felt that they seemed to be very similar and would make good friends, she could tell the girl was very introverted and kind and didn't want to be any kind of bother at all.

Kind of She smiled. When she noticed that it sounded as if she didn't want to be talking to her, she quickly corrected herself I mean, you don't bother me and there's not a problem as long as you don't have it either.

It is true that Andrea went during the dinner time searching for some time alone, but it didn't bother her being with another person. She was tired of always being surrounded by a lot of people, even if she didn't know who they were some of them. It was difficult to find a quiet place at Hogwarts, so she always tried to take advantage of these times to go to the owlery to find this silence.

With her there it was still a quiet place. The silence was just interrupted by the sound of their voices, the wind coming from the cold outside and the sound the owls made with their wings.

Andrea thanked the fact that she didn't let her go back, when as a disaster that she is sometimes she would have probably forgotten about the letter, and she would have to do the same walk the next day. Right, the letter! She remembered why she was here.

So... what about you? She said walking toward the owl of her family and giving it the piece of paper You were looking for some time alone? I know exactly that feeling, sometimes it's difficult to find a hushed place here and, you also need time to dedicate to yourself.

"Yeah, I suppose I was. I've been thinking that I'd need some time alone I guess I was subconsciously thinking that if I went while everyone else was in the great hall that I would get some alone time. It was nice to be alone for a while," Margaret said. She wasn't one of those edgy emos who hated people, she enjoyed the company of others but it definitely got tiring. Sometimes she would go into the woods to be alone, on nice days and it was nice to be out in the woods, just walking, on a warm day but she could no longer do so. It was too cold to go on walks outside. She had even considered skipping one of her classes to be able to be in her dormitory alone. It wasn't a bad idea necessarily, okay maybe it was a bad idea but it felt worth it. Now she had gotten enough time alone so she thought she should tend this girl the same courtesy. "I hope you don't mind if I stay here, just for a bit longer. I'll be quiet as a mouse, you'll probably forget I'm here" she promised "I'll be gone in a few so you can be alone." She smiled and hoped that'd be fine.

Andrea let out a little laugh of nervousness. She probably thinks that she's bothering me or that I don't like to socialize. She turned around to look at her with a smile on her face. You don't disturb me, sorry if I made you think that way. You don't have to be in complete silence. I'm really enjoying your company, you seem nice.

It was true, she thought that they were similar. She was the kind of girl Andrea would like to be friends of. She also reminded her about one of her friends back in London. That's why it felt good being around her. It was like being back at home, with her friends, just talking and enjoying each other's company.

I just notice I don't even know your name or the house you're in Andrea knew she wasn't a Gryffindor, she didn't remember seeing her in the common room or in the girl's dormitories. Not that she knew every girl from her house, but she looked like a first year, as Andrea was, so if she was a Gryffindor, she would have seen her at any moment or place. Andrea doesn't have a problem to meet people from other houses, it was just curiosity what she had.

Margaret felt a sense of relief that she wasn't being a bother and smiled.

When the girl pointed it out Margaret realized she didn't know what the other girl's name or house was either. Margaret chuckled for a moment before replying. She thought that was hilarious that not only did she not know the girl's name (which she definitely should have by now) but that Margaret didn't even notice.

"My name's Margaret" she replied, with a cheeriness in her voice, from her laughing. "I'm in Ravenclaw, I guess I seem like quite the stereotype," she said. "What your name?" Margaret asked. After the girl, who she now knew the name was Andrea, replied she asked what house Andrea was in. Margaret was glad to hear that she was in Gryffindor. Margaret didn't have hardly any friends from Gryffindor, except maybe one (all her friends were either other Ravenclaws or Slytherins, not that she had many friends which was fine by her) but Margaret thought it'd be nice to have a few friends in different houses.

A little shiver ran up her spine as a cold breeze blew past. She thought about what to say next, not quite sure what to say.
