Anna was studying for her Potions class, because of the rumor of a pop quiz tomorrow. Of course, it was just a rumor, and she suspected it might have been started by someone from another house, just so that they could get members of their own house to study. Anna thought it might be for extra points for the House Cup. It was a very clever tactic, but that lie had leaked. Just to be extra careful, she was studying. Worst case, she got a better grade in Potions, and maybe gained a few points for the House Cup. Who knows? She wasn't discriminating against the other houses, because it could just as well be a rumor started by one of her own Hufflepuffs.
Anna was reading about different concoctions and brews that they had been learning about, going over every line once. Then, her mind trailed off to something new. She had met only a Gryffindor so far, not a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin. She had overheard conversations from her fellow Hufflepuffs, so she knew what they were all about. What about the Ravenclaws and Slytherins? Were the Slytherins as mean and cruel as everyone said? Were the Ravenclaws really that brilliant?
She also wondered what the other Gryffindors were like. The one she had met was very kind and welcoming. She seemed to be brave, just as all Gryffindors were said to be, Anna just wondered if all the stereotypes were true. She hadn't met everyone, so she couldn't judge. However, Hufflepuffs were said to be very kind and Anna thought that she was kind. No one knows, or at least she didn't. She just hoped that she would eventually meet at least one person from every house before her second year even began. Maybe, even become friends. As Anna thought about it, her playlist ended and she felt a tap on her shoulder.

Hate to burst your bubble, but electronics don't work at Hogwarts. I speak from experience, for I was notified during a thread earlier this year. Magic messes with it.

There were times when the library mystified Sapph. How could it be so hard to find a book, for gods' sake? It was apparently a near-impossible task. Perhaps it was checked out? No, probably not - it wasn't the kind of book most people would check out. That did seem to be something she did often - find the most obscure books and topics, which were normally actually things she liked.
The girl sighed, pushing a few run-away locks of hair out of her face. It was essentially just whisps on the edges of her hairline, but it was still quite annoying since they tickled her eyes and made them flutter. It didn't help that her vision was giving her a blurry effect - didn't help at all. She really needed glasses.
She sighed again, running fingers over the spines. She could have sworn she'd seen the book here yesterday! Deciding she wasn't going to get anywhere with that, she cast her gaze over the people sitting around. She didn't want to disturb the Ravenclaws she noticed, since they appeared deep in thought, and she didn't want to bother some of the conversing students from other houses would want to talk with her either. She finally noticed someone, a girl with red hair, that was sitting at a table alone. I swear to god, if I encounter another red-headed Ravenclaw I am going to believe it's a curse, she thought. Not that she had anything against red-headed Ravenclaws, but she'd met a lot of them.
She ignored her odd, irrational thoughts in favour of walking up to her. She seemed quite focused, almost making Sapph regret what she was about to do. She walked up to the girl, footsteps quiet as always, and tapped on her shoulder. "Er, you haven't happened to see a book on uncommon poisons, have you?" she questioned, wincing at her quiet and awkward-sounding voice.

At first, Anna was startled by the girl when she came up to her. She was pretty, but obviously a little uncomfortable asking the question. However, she seemed nice enough, and Anna just assumed that her interest for a book about uncommon poisons was for research or studying purposes only. Anna took a deep breath, looked at the shy girl, and responded, "It sounds very familiar, I think I saw it somewhere around here, but I'm not sure where. Sorry. I might could help you look for it?" The book was fairly rare, and it caught Anna's eye for a second when skimming the shelves earlier. The book sounded interesting, and Anna thought hard about where she had seen it.
The girl seemed a little nervous, and so Anna decided to introduce herself. Anna smiled warmly, and then said, "I'm Anna, by the way. It's actually my first year here at Hogwarts, and so I'm a little new to everything. I also got sorted into Hufflepuff! A lot of people say that Hufflepuff is the worst house, by actually happen to like it a lot. What's your house?" Anna finished, adding another comforting smile at the end of her question. She hoped that her efforts were enough to make the girl feel comfortable.

When the shy girl was about to respond, another voice greeted Anna. The girl had ginger hair, just like her's. She asked Anna about the pop quiz. "Yeah, haha. I'm ok at potions, but I thought I would study a bit more just in case the rumor about the pop quiz is true." She studied the girl who had come up to her. She had a knowing sense to her, and seemed quite smart. She also seemed to know the other girl, the one wondering about where the rare poisons book was. She tried to ignore the feeling, and instead introduced herself to the new girl. "Anyways, hi! My name is Anna. I'm a first year, and my house Hufflepuff. Umm, I like apple everything? Heh. That's about it. I'm not super interesting." Anna said, adding a little chuckle at the end. Then, she just couldn't shake the feeling away. The two girls had to of known each other. It wasn't any of Anna's business, but she just couldn't nod the feeling away. She took a deep breath. "Do you two know each other?" She asked, motioning from the new girl to the shy one. The shy one seemed a little startled, but Anna still awaited her answer.

Sorry for the late response. I got caught up in other activities yesterday.
Sapphire nodded in acknowledgement. "Right, sorry. I'm Sapphire. Sapph. Third-year Slytherin. If this is your first year, you may be stuck in some concerning situations so you should be prepared," she said. She winced much more, sounding more sinister with that than her intention. "Sorry, I just meant that things can be... hectic."
She heard Margaret approach but didn't recognize the person till she heard the voice. It wasn't a person she knew well, but it was someone that she knew. She turned her head towards the other girl, waving. Then she faced the Hufflepuff, who had revealed her name to be Anna.
"Yes, we met briefly. At the great lake. Had a little conversation," she said. It had been a pretty day if she recalled correctly. "Er, do you think you could direct me to where the book is?" she questioned, a bit awkwardly.
She rubbed her wrist, the feeling of awkwardness never leaving her. It felt too... open there. Like people were watching her, even when she knew that couldn't possibly have been true. It was nerve-wracking. It always was. It always felt like that, unless she was in a place where she knew no one would be. Crowded places were murderous to her soul.

"I'm sorry didn't mean to impose," said Margaret, realizing she was probably being a nuisance, and not meaning to interrupt the two girls. She felt a bit embarrassed, she knew she probably should have just stuck to her own business. Her face turned red, almost like when you've been outside, in the cold for too long and your face has a cold heat. She laughed at herself a bit "I'm Margaret, also a first-year, Ravenclaw, not much more to say about me either." Sapphire asked something about a book, that Margaret knew nothing about, she wasn't even sure what she meant, not that it mattered much, it wasn't her place to pry into other people's business. So she just smiled awkwardly and turned around to search for the book she came to get. Margaret was happy to literally be living in a book (in the way that she was almost living in a fiction story) but she did miss all the books she used to read about non-school related things, the fictional adventures of her favorite authors. She realized this as she looked at the books and shrugged it off, at least she had something to read, why would I want to read about and adventure anyway, I'm basically in one? She wondered to herself.
She turned grabbed her book and turned back around "Hufflepuffs a great house, much overlooked, but I feel like it's full of great people" she added, not really thinking about what she had said, just speaking honestly. Soon she realized how cheesy and weird that probably said, of course, she meant it as a sincere compliment, and a way to dismiss herself in a more original way than "goodbye" or "see ya" but now she suddenly felt awkward (as she usually did when giving others compliments, it always sound so cheesy or weird even if it was just meant to be kind and genuine). She smiled and shrugged a bit. Sometimes she wondered if other people ever felt just as awkward as she did. Margaret hoped not, she hoped the awkwardness was just how she felt and they didn't think she was weird or anything. She smiled kindly as if to say "see ya around I guess" without actually talking.
