(Serena Towers & Eris Elcan)

Serena made her way down the third floor corridor, glad that her Prefect Patrolling duties were almost over. It had been a long day, she had patrolled a few floors already and was getting to the end. It would be nice to finish this round with something uneventful happening. Something always seemed to happen during patrols. It was getting quite annoying. There were too many students trying to break their curfew or messing around. She had come across countless things that required action. Some a lot worse than others. Sighing softly, as she thought back to a particularly bad incident and cringed internally. Why was she thinking about that? About him? No. Just no, this wasn't okay. The Hufflepuff mentally scolded herself for even letting him enter her thoughts.

Shaking her head, she realised that patrols would be a lot easier if she was not doing them alone. Other houses seemed to do them together. Or at least, she knew Bloom and Ben did their rounds together. Though, she had heard the rumour that Ben stepped down as Prefect, making her frown. She wasn't sure why that happened. But she had heard that there was a few new students joining the Prefect ranks - though she didn't know any names. Perhaps if she was patrolling with someone else, she wouldn't get hurt so much during these rounds. No one would kiss her. There would be no crying. There would have been no pain. The girl sighed, perhaps she ought to try to do rounds with another prefect. Perhaps the male prefect of her house would be able to join her sometime. That ought to be safer... But boys were stupid. She didn't want to hang out with boys anymore. All of them seemed to constantly hurt her.

Well that's not true. She had a few male friends. It did, however, seem like she was getting a lot more hurt when she was around them than her female friends. Who knew why? Serena clutched her fist tightly as she continued to walk down the empty corridor. Her own thoughts were annoying her. All of the stupid boys who were hurting her annoyed her. Perhaps it was all of the cooties they had!

Crash!

Gasping, the Hufflepuff stopped abruptly and tried to find out where the noise was from. The Trophy Room. Without a second's hesitation, Serena quickly dashed into the Trophy Room, pushing the door open quickly and looking around to see what the noise was. Perhaps someone was hurt. Perhaps they were doing something mischievous. Who knew?

Looking around, her eyes fell onto a trophy lying on the floor and a few knocked over ones on the table that it had probably fallen from. Her eyes instantly narrowed as she stared at it. It didn't look like anyone was here but there was clearly signs of something happening. Serena approached the table cautiously, wondering what was going on. Before she got there, her eyes widened as she saw another trophy start to fall before she heard it hit the sound.

CRASH!

Eris had almost finished her patrolling, and was still full of energy. Already she had patrolled the seventh floor by the common room, and had worked her way down. She had ignored the fifth floor completely, just staying there long enough to look around than hurry down the stairs to the next floor. She understood that her fellow prefect, and gross cootie carrying boy, Siege was patrolling the fifth floor currently. Eris hadn't approached the boy to ask if they wanted to patrol together yet. She was too scared of the potential cooties, and of starting a conversation with somebody who seemed willing to beat the crap out of anybody, and everybody. The safer option was to wait for him to start a conversation with her.

Eris walked down the moving stairway, unsure of what floor she was on. Reminding herself that the Gryffindor prefects had to patrol the seventh, sixth, fifth, and fourth floors, Eris figured she was on the fourth floor. Looking around, Siege didn't seem to be anywhere nearby. Maybe he was just on the fifth floor. Eris decided to just patrol the floor for Siege, and then go to bed. She was still full of energy, and figured that in the time it took to patrol another floor, she might calm down a little bit and be able to sleep when she returned to the common room.

Patrolling had been uneventful so far, which was a shock to the tiny red-head. Most nights, there were always groups of students attempting to sneak out after dark and discover hidden passages in the school, or get into trouble. Eris had taken to calling them "Harry Potter frauds" in her mind. It wasn't clever or anything, but Eris had an inkling that most of the children that snuck out just wanted to have adventures like Harry Potter had as a boy , before he had turned into a criminal.

There weren't any of those children wandering the halls tonight, and Eris was dreadfully bored. If only she could have a friend to patrol with. She had met the ravenclaw prefect, Reed, in passing and he seemed fine. But he had far different floors to watch over, and so far, Eris really didn't want to talk to Siege. She hadn't met any other prefects, so there was nobody to talk to as she wandered the halls.

The Gryffindor girl was so desperate for something to do that she started to day-dream about catching a student in the hallways, and telling them off. Eris wasn't a fan of telling people off, but it was better than doing nothing. Lost in her thoughts, the girl traversed down another set of stairs, only to hear a long crashing noise coming from the end of the new floor's hallway. Without stopping to remind herself that she was on a floor that she wasn't supposed to be patrolling, Eris took off dashing towards the noise.

She stopped in front of the trophy room, in time to hear another loud crash. She winced at the noise, even louder than before, now that she was closer to the room. As Eris looked around the room for the source of the noise, she frowned. There was another girl in the room. A girl with brown hair, who's back was turned to Eris. She was taller than Eris though, but seemed to be intently studying the fallen trophies. Enough so that she didn't notice Eris come into the room. There was no way the girl could be the culprit. If she was the culprit, she would of ran off or tried to set back up the trophies.

Eris opened her mouth to speak, as another trophy fell, with a loud thud. Eris winced once more. "Is there someone invisible in the room?" She wondered out loud, forgetting whatever words she was going to say to the other girl.

Frowning, she stared at the second trophy that had fallen before quickly looking over to the table. She couldn't see how it fell. But she had seen it fall without anyone around... Or perhaps there was someone. What she didn't expect, however, was the person that had entered the room earlier. Serena jumped slightly as she heard the voice behind her. Quickly straightening and swivelling around, she looked over to a red head girl, donning Gryffindor clothing. There was a Prefect badge pinned onto her robe but she didn't recognise the girl. Perhaps she was one of the new ones.

"Perhaps..." She replied as she narrowed her eyes and tried to see if she could spot anything unusual around the room. There was not much noise though. No footsteps or anything. If someone was around, they were either very light on their feet or had stopped moving, "Can you close the door please?" She asked the girl, her voice dropping to a quieter tone. If there was someone in the room, she did not want them to run out without finding out who it was and what they were doing. It was past curfew for normal students so there should not have been anyone around in the first place. If someone was here - and they were purposefully invisible for it - they were definitely up to something.

Her eyes quickly shot towards one of the nearby tables. A few of the trophies moved slightly, making a light scraping sound as it scraped against the wood. Perhaps there was someone with an invisibility clock around. The infamous Harry Potter was rumoured to have one of those, wasn't he? Of course, she wasn't sure if it was just a rumour or a fact. It would not surprise her if such as thing existed and if people had one. There were probably spells that she didn't know that could also make you invisible.

Looking back at the Gryffindor Prefect, she flicked her gaze towards the table to indicate which one she thought the noise was coming from now. It was a little further away from her, deeper into the room. Serena wondered if they could trap the person, if there was someone around, in the corner so they couldn't get past without one of them being able to try and catch them.

Eris studied the other girl, eyes focusing on the yellow prefect badge fastened on her robes. Selena, right? Something along the lines of Selena. Serena, Sabina, Selena? Eris mused over names in her head, trying to figure out the name of the other girl. Eris had heard of the hufflepuff prefect. She had been a prefect from the start of the year, and Eris had heard about her in passing from older Gryffindors, furious that she had busted them when they tried to sneak out at night.

When the hufflepuff prefect whispered to close the door, Eris nodded. She understood they needed to be quiet so that the invisible culprit wouldn't have a chance guess their plans and attempt to escape. They were going to catch him or her! Feeling an excited rush, Eris turned around. She tried not to make a noise, as she closed the doors, as quickly and silently as she could. The doors were not oiled, so the doors didn't close soundlessly. The doors caught on the hinge and let out a squeaking noise, as they slammed shut, leaving the two girl prefects alone in the room with an invisible person or ghost of some sort.

There wasn't a lot of light in the large trophy room, now that the door was closed and the bright light of the hallway was diminished and only shining in through the bottom of the door, exposing only the shadows of robes in the dim light. Of course the torches weren't on in the Trophy Room. That would just be too easy, wouldn't it? Cursing her bad luck, Eris squinted into the darkness of the vast room and tried to locate the hufflepuff prefect.

There was no way she could spot the other girl, but that also meant that the invisible person had no way to see them either. If any of them lit up their wands, the others in the room would be able to tell. If Eris didn't use a spell to light up her wand, and the person tried to sneak to the door, she would be there and catch them.

"Do you see anything?" She called into the darkness to the other girl, after a moment of silence. The darkness in the room was overpowering, and even though Eris wasn't afraid of the dark, she was starting to feel nervous.

The light in the room suddenly dropped as the door creaked closed behind her. She frowned slightly as her gaze flickered to the light sources around the room. There was not much. Where are the torches? She thought to herself as she continued to frown in the darkness. Serena hadn't notice that they were off because the light from the well lit corridors must have flooded through earlier. There was a little light from the bottom of the door now and from a small window. But it was dark outside and the moon was mostly covered by the clouds tonight. The window didn't provide enough light either.

She blinked a little, waiting for her eyes to adjust to this new lighting. Serena could see a little better than the average person in the dark. She had no idea why - perhaps her mother feeding her carrots and saying it was good for her vision was actually the truth. However, this room was still very dark and even she could barely see things. Perhaps if someone was under an invisibility cloak, they would have to remove it now. Could people see at all under the cloak if it was that dark? The limited light might not even get through.

Serena heard the girl's voice in the darkness. She could just about sense where she was. Looking down towards the bottom of the door, she could see her feet at the very least. The light was disturbed by her legs and that was the only bit where the light was hidden away. She knew it was her by the fact that the voice came from that direction. Stepping towards Eris, "A little, yeah," She whispered, "Here, I got you," She said softly, warning her before she reached out and placed her hand on her shoulder. She was trying to find her arm but she misjudged the girl's height and tapped her shoulder instead, "This way..." Serena continued, leading her a bit further into the room so that if there was someone hidden and they wanted to get to the door, they would be able to open it - immediately giving off their whereabouts.

The Hufflepuff looked back towards the corner that she had heard the noise from. It had fallen quiet again. She frowned, wondering what was going on. Was someone actually there or did she just imagine it? Things were definitely falling, weren't they? Could it have been a ghost? But you could see the ghosts... And she couldn't see anyone here...

Eris squinted into the darkness once more, trying to determine where on earth the hufflepuff prefect was, when she heard the girl's voice. A second later, she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was an effort not to yank the foreign girl's hand away, but Eris kept unnaturally still, still squinting into the darkness as the hufflepuff prefect lead her into the darkness of the room. Truth be told, Eris was almost grateful for the girl's hand on her shoulder. It might of been intrusive and little frightening to have somebody grab her, but at least it meant that there was somebody else in the room with her.

The darkness was terrifying the little red-head, and she couldn't see as well in the dark as the hufflepuff prefect. Making a mental note to eat a lot more carrots once they got out of this blasted Trophy Room and caught the invisible trophy knocker-over, Eris squinted, again, at the hufflepuff then around the room.

Perhaps the person with the invisibility clock had taken it off. They wouldn't need it in the darkness anyways, and Eris imagined it would be even more difficult to see in the darkness with a clock over your face.

Eris was practically blind in the darkness, so she closed her eyes. Maybe if she closed her eyes, and only used her other senses she could hear better, or smell the culprit. Isn't that what they did in movies? Eyes closed, Eris turned her face away from the corner the first noise had been heard in, and looked around the room. She had no idea where she was looking, of course, and thought she was looking at the corner.

"You okay?" Serena's whisper spoke out in the quiet room. She had not heard the Gryffindor girl say anything in a while and was hoping she was not afraid of the dark or something. Perhaps they should just use lumos and light it up now... The girl frowned, wondering if they should as she released her shoulder and reached out to find the edge of the table and followed down the path a little. Suddenly lunging out into thin air, she reached into the corner to see if she could grab something or someone but her hand just waved around a little in the air. There was nothing there. Maybe this was all a figment of their imagination... Or perhaps the person had moved.

She gasped softly as she heard the noise again. It sounded like the scampering of light feet... coming from... the table? "Ahh!" She called out as she suddenly felt something brush against her ankle, jumping backwards a little. Serena couldn't see anything but it didn't feel like a person. Pulling out her wand from the pocket of her robe quickly, she held it out in front of her. Narrowing her eyes, she tried to see what the creature was - if it was a person or perhaps something else. "... I uhh- Lumos!" She said as she held out her wand.

The tip of her wand suddenly started to glow, producing a light at the end of it. Successfully introducing a new light source into the room, Serena blinked a little to allow her eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness. It took her a few seconds to get used to it that when she could finally see the ground, she couldn't see where the creature or what it was. Serena stood there, staring at the ground by her ankle and quickly allowing her gaze to flicker across the floor. "You okay? I uhh don't think there's a person here..." She explained her earlier reaction and the reason for the light with this simple sentence, glancing over to the other Prefect. Hopefully Gryffindor whose name she still did not know was not afraid of animals because... Serena had absolutely no idea what was there. It felt... a little odd. Fast, perhaps quite small... maybe furry? It was too fast to know.

"I'm okay." Eris whispered back into the darkness, opening her eyes as the hufflepuff took her arm off of Eris's shoulder. Reaching out a hand in the hope of finding a wall to lean on, the little red-head swayed, and found herself reaching into thin air. Cursing her stupidity, Eris squinted into the darkness once more.

Eris jumped when the other girl called out, piercing the quiet darkness. Had the person attacked her? A second later the girl muttered lumos, and Eris did the same. It was easier to see into the darkness now, but Eris still had to squint. She stared at the other girl, once again able to see her face and brown hair. She seemed to be looking at the ground, like the person was extremely short or a house elf. Frowning, Eris looked down at the ground too.

When the girl spoke, it took Eris a moment to understand what she meant. "Yeah I'm okay." She said, not in a whisper anymore. She implicitly believed what the hufflepuff had said. If she thought there was no human in the room, and that there was a creature, than that was most likely the truth. It would make more sense anyways, as there hadn't been any noise or human-like breathing since the second trophy had fallen.

The only question was what kind of creature was lurking around in the Trophy Room? "What do you think is in the room?" She asked cautiously, frown deepening.

Serena frowned, staring down towards the ground and looking around. "I'm... not sure, to be honest. I just- I felt something." She explained, not looking up, "Something brushed my ankle. But- I don't see anything?" The girl continued. She hated this feeling... knowing that there was something there but not knowing what it was exactly... Perhaps it was just a mouse. But what if it was one of Professor Lear's creatures that had gotten loose? Or worse, what if it was something from the Forbidden Forest that was potentially dangerous?

It actually made her a little scared and very nervous just thinking about this... What if it was something that had poison on its skin? Perhaps she was poisoned already now. It could literally be anything. Ahh, was it not bad that she already had cooties now? Did she need anything else?!

There was no way to know what it was without finding it. She wasn't that good at reading animals signs. Sighing, Serena bent down to look under the trophy case, pointing her wand under it. It did not appear to be there anymore. Perhaps it had hidden behind another one or ran into a hole somewhere. Maybe it was invisible? Frowning, Serena reached over to one of the fallen trophies and picked it up.  With her wand now close to the trophy, she examined it a little more closely, "At least it doesn't look broken..." She replied, worried it would have chipped or something in the fall. Some of these were very old, after all. They were made of expensive materials though and regularly cleaned, it seemed.

The Hufflepuff paused in thought for a moment. Should they open the door and just let the light in again? Or would it be better to try and catch it before it made a huge mess everywhere? Thinking about it, she suddenly realised she had no idea who the other Prefect was, "I'm Serena, by the way." She introduced herself to the girl, as she stood up and replaced the fallen trophy back onto the table.

Eris resisted the urge to leap up ontop of one of the tables, and knock over all the trophies to be safely off the ground. Something had brushed the other girl's ankle. In a magical castle things lurking on the floor weren't going to be mice or another type of rodent. What if there was a ballislisk or something lurking on the floor, ready to kill the two prefects? Heart racing, Eris squinted even harder down at the floor. There wasn't any sign of a slithering tail. In fact, there wasn't a sign of anything. Whatever had pressed up against the hufflepuff girl was gone!

Or invisible. Wishing she was as good at identifying magical creatures as her friend Kaegen, Eris held the feeble light from the end of her wand, before slowly moving the light around the room. It was dim, but Eris could see the other girl bending down. Slowly, she took a step after the hufflepuff prefect and bent down by the fallen trophies as well. Peering over the girl's shoulder at the broken trophy, Eris came to the conclusion that the trophy would be fine. The damage wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed by a quick mending charm. Not that Eris knew how to use mending charms. They would have to get a professor to do that. Maybe in the morning the two girls could get a professor to fix the trophies. All the professors were most likely sleeping, and if Professor Mellowrose was to be used as an example, the professors really liked their sleep.

Before they could even do anything the two girls would need to catch whatever creature was lurking around in the shadows of the trophy room. "I'm Eris." Eris replied to the other girl's introduction, also pushing herself up to a standing position. It seemed absurd that they were in such a predicament together and had just learned each other's names.
