A Face to the Name
Interacting with @Arissa WrightCade was pleasantly surprised at Arissa's suggestion. He didn't think she would challenge him of all people. It would be a fair match. Arissa seemed to hold a high level of knowledge. Cade was intrigued to see exactly how she would fair while dueling. Cade had never been in a wizards duel himself, but he heard about them from his father. But those duels were usually between enemies or teams. Arissa was suggesting a friendly challenge just for the two of them. Cade knew Arissa wouldn't suggest this without some forethought or at least consideration of who her opponent would be. The fact that she even trusted him created a warm fuzzy feeling in Cade's heart.
"A duel... with you?" Cade pondered aloud. In truth, he was a little nervous. He wasn't even that confident with his wand yet. Sure it performed well during classes, but it was nerve-wracking when there was added pressure of the heat of the duel. On the other hand, he thought this would be a good chance to practice and make mistakes. He knew he could trust Arissa. And on the off chance that he did win, he would never let her forget about it! It was perfect either way.
"That sounds brilliant!" Cade grinned at Arissa. "When would you want to do it? I only know so many spells." It was true! It was nearing the end of the second month of their time at Hogwarts. Cade had only taken a few charms and defense against the dark arts classes. And even then he hadn't completely mastered them.
Cade wanted the duel to be a well-paced and well-matched one. It wouldn't be very entertaining if he had to repeat the same spell over and over. Arissa would easily take him down. So many thoughts were swirling around his head at the prospect of having a private duel. Cade was pretty excited now that he had something to look forward to. Perhaps this is just what he needed to have that extra incentive during class. Now that there was a duel to look forward to, he wanted to learn more spells even more proficiently.
"Better watch out, Arissa. I'll train hard for this." The excitement was bubbling up inside him, he couldn't help but tease her.

"Yes, Cade. A duel with me." Arissa repeated slowly, her grey eyes scrutinising his reaction. A part of her wonder whether that boy has any misgivings about having a duel with her, but that didn't seem to be the case.
She could see his eyes flickered with a hesitation before he grinned at her. The girl couldn't help but felt amused at the boy's clear expression. It didn't take that much time for his eyes to light up in excitement after a few seconds of her declaration.
Arissa shot the boy her haughty look as she scoffed. "Well, Cade. I sure hope do. And it's best for you to prepare yourself for your impending doom, as I will make sure to completely destroy you. But don't worry, I'll play fair." Her eyes flickered with a hint of hidden craftiness, as her mind had already making its plan for her duel.
She'll play fair, of course. Cade was her friend after all, it didn't cost her anything to do that. But it had become her habits to have more than one plan, and she could say that at least one of those additional plans involved dirty tricks, despite the fact that she was adamant to not use it on the unsuspecting boy. Arissa knew, that if she truly decided on playing fair, she must improve her skills. She ought to train herself in an empty class, where no one would come across her.
Her eyes gazed upon the darkening sky, as she remarked, "I think it's time for us to part ways, Cade. It's getting dark right now." She turned her head towards the boy, and shot him a mischievous smile. "We'll discuss our duel in our missives, and perhaps, our next meeting. The duel didn't have to be on that day, however. I'd say its better for us to wait a few months, so we can properly mastered our spells."
Arissa paused for a while, before adding, "However, I must say this. I'm planing on winning, so be prepared to lose."
Clapping both her hands, Arissa looked below, before turning towards the boy. "Now, would you be a dear and go down? I need someone to act as an emergency landing cushion if something goes awry. "
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

Interacting with @Arissa WrightCade's stomach was starting to quietly rumble. He was happy that Arissa wanted to leave. He didn't want to suggest it first in case she was having a pleasant time. The sky was becoming darker as the sun crept further down the western horizon.
"Right okay," Cade nodded once when Arissa told him to climb down before her. He looked down trying to calculate how far down the jump was. It would be incredibly embarrassing to land on his legs wrong. He would twist his ankle. Then he'd have to limp to the hospital wing. Kicking his legs back into a side-saddle position, Cade swung himself down so he was hanging off the branch with his palms. The drop was less concerning now that he was underneath it. The branch swayed a little from his shifting weight. Cade let go and fell bending his knees so he could handle the shock. He landed on his feet but stumbled forward until he regained his footing.
"You don't need me to catch you, do you?" Cade gave Arissa a playful smirk. He dusted off his hands to get rid of small specks of bark. He was too eager because he suddenly felt a splinter snag his ring finger. "Ow!" His eyes scanned his finger for the cause of his anguish. "Careful for splinters, Arissa. They're mad!" He called up a warning. He shook out his hand and looked up at her wondering how she planned to get down. She could have been quite literal in her wording and aim at Cade while falling. Or perhaps she'd rather slide down the trunk of the tree?

'That, doesn't seem safe. Scratch that, it is dangerous.' Arissa mused inwardly, as she watched Cade hanging on the branch before he jumped.
Another reason why she asked Cade to go down first was because she wanted to gauge the distance to make sure it was safe enough for her, and she wanted to hide the fact that she didn't know how to do it.
Arissa admittedly was a bit afraid. The last time she climbed, her house elf was with her, so she was easily levitated from the branch to the ground. That was easy. But this time, there's no one with her. Even for someone like Cade, who climbed the tree easily before, have problems when it comes to going down.
"Funny saying that, Cade." She responded. Her lips then quirked up into a small smirk. "Well, thank you for that kind warning. What a gentleman you are. I might just jumped at you to save myself from such a horrid incident."
She was partly joking, but mostly serious about that. If she have to choose between embarrassing herself with a boy and a chance of having her bones broken, she would choose the former. She had rarely get herself a simple scratch, so her fear of inflicting a major injury onto herself was reasonable.
Should she just use the move he did just now? Hanging on the branch like monkeys and jump. It was less risky compared to jumping at this height, but hanging onto the branch was quite a challenge itself. Did she even dare to slide down from the branch?
The answer was, a definite no.
The trunk on the other hand was safer. But there might be a few splinters here and there. But if she jumped at Cade, her rate of survival was higher. And she won't get a scratch on her if he managed to catch her.
He on the other hand, might get his bones broken. That's the worst case scenario, of course.
It took a while for her to make her decision. "Well, Cade. I suggest you moved to the trunk of the tree. Just to be safe." If she showed up with him to the Hospital Wing, she might get asked about what happened, and would try her best to cover her lack of ability to climb with something else. Carelessness, perhaps.
It's rather troublesome, and as Cade was her friend, she decided to use the trunk.
Arissa felt her hand trembling, as she touch the familiar wood, before looking down. Who on earth suggest climbing on the tree again? And what possessed her to join this activity again?
She grabbed the branch on one hand, and her other hand wrapping itself around the trunk. Then she slides down, just like what she did in the Muggle playground her paternal grandparents bought for her in their backyard.
That was fun. This one however, was an experience she rather not repeat again. When she felt her feet touched the ground, she turned towards the boy.
"We ought to stay away from this kind of activity next time, Darkbound. As for the duel, I guess we should find a proper place and time for it in our missives." There's a brief silence before she continued, "I rather avoid being caught and sent to detention, so we may have to plan it thoroughly."
After brushing off her robes with her hand, she shot the boy an amused stare. "It's time for us to part, Cade. You wouldn't want to go hungry now, wouldn't you?"
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

Interacting with @Arissa WrightCade did as he was told and moved towards the trunk of the tree, watching closely as Arissa made for the same position a few feet above him. He didn't much feel like being a crash pad for the snake. But since this whole ordeal was his idea, it was best that if anyone were to get hurt it should be him. Cade obliged and lifted his arms just in case she fell. "Be careful." He warned again for what seemed to be the tenth time.
Cade was impressed with Arissa's slow-paced agility. He knew she had some semblance of a tree climber. The Ravenclaw took up his bag and offered a simpering smile towards Arissa. "This was fun... At least for me. I'm glad to finally have a face to the name, Arissa Wright." He met her eyes one last time before sprinting towards the castle. "The last one to the great hall is a rotten dragon egg!" He called over his shoulder. It didn't matter to the boy if Arissa took up the challenge or not, for he was hungry. The quicker to food the better. Cade could already taste the Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Arissa merely glanced at the fading back of the Ravenclaw boy, clearly unimpressed with the challenge that he declared moments ago. She has no intent whatsoever to take the challenge, as she hate running the most - not to mention that she originally planned on making a detour towards her dormitory in the first place. The boy himself has now gone, leaving her in the company of the breeze and rustling trees. It felt pleasant and calming, despite the daunting figure of the Great Squid in the lake, and the indication that night will soon come.
Arissa was not that hungry, so it's fine even if she took her time - walking slowly while enjoying the beauty of nature. Rotten egg or not, she definitely wouldn't want to be caught running like a buffoon for food at the Great Hall. An amusing sight it would be anyone else did so, but for Arissa herself, that scene would be humiliating. Definitely won't happen.
She was quite confident that even if she took her time to get there, there would be enough food for her, considering the fact that most in Slytherin table have proper manners and their house was the least likely to be suspected of harboring a glutton. If they did, well, it would be an amazing gossip for her to chew on.
