Illowy never took her eyes from Martin as the relatively isolated chaos around them seemed to, for lack of a better word, calm and dissipate. Hearing Kyle's primitive use of the tongue in order to gloat made her want to roll her eyes, but she refrained in favor of keeping her focus on her chosen task at hand as San made her final statement. The fellow snake made herself seem disinterested, denouncing those she was fighting along side, but Illowy was hardly in the position to trust that. A common cause made them affiliates in the least, and that was all the same to her, "Justice isn't yours to carry out." Illowy warned as the girl walked away. Honestly, what had any of them thought was going to by solved by brawling it out in the middle of a school dance like a pack of Neanderthals? What actual justice would have been served or atonements made? That was what came of puerile judgment.

Finally turning her attention to her cousin, the girl stripped off her mask as she approached the pair, "What the hell, Ky?" she demanded of her cousin. For a moment, her ghostly gaze flickered to Erin, looking the girl over with little amusement given she split blame on the situation partially on her as well. The girl seemed to her to be a natural born instigator of trouble, and Illowy trusted her about as far as she could throw her.

Illowy's gaze returned to Kyle, "First of all, did it have to be the biggest bloody guy in the damn room? Secondly, a Prefect? Really? Have you lost yer mind?" granted, even she had to admit that she was pretty impressed that Kyle had managed to win that one so easily... but also it worried her, seeing how strong and damaging he could be. It also worried her that Erin's influence might feed the dark urges and feelings Illowy was trying to save him from.

Taking a breath and trying to regain some level of poise as she straightened her posture and returned her wand to the pocket in the folds of her gown, she then asked, "Are you at least alright? You didn't break you hand or anything on that, brick wall of a lad did ye?"

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

[font=PT Sans]Was it possible for time to speed up and slow down at the same time. He could feel his old English teacher screaming in protest at that sort of question. They’re adjectives that are meant to be opposing of the other! How could they happen at the same time? Well, that’s what he could describe the living hell he called the present of his life. It could be the overreacting racing thoughts. Maybe not. Who’s to say? Among his racing thoughts they were humiliation, betrayal, depleting self-esteem, loneliness- the usual, he’d like to joke. Unfortunately joking was a bit hard at the moment. He was so focused on finding what went wrong with his conversations with Percival he couldn’t even notice all his previous partners already making their way out, just as he was about to blame that goddamn moon.

It was a good job she @Martyna Romero was gone or else the target of his spiraling emotions would definitely be her. Now that he had no one to blame for his mishap, he felt even lost than before. Bless the paper bag concealed 95% of his view. He could feel his eyes starting to wander once again for the tall blonde. Why? Why would he watch him happily dance the night away with someone so undeserving of him? He felt himself scowling at the thought of Opeila Seilun. He felt better already just blaming her for this. That’s just her to take what was his. Thief. @Opeila Winters A devious one when she probably knew Percival had plans that Hanako made up in his own mind with Hanako. Using those wrenched girly charms to wrap him around her fingers again and ruining their night.

Dee..” he mumbled through his teeth. He frantically scanned the area through his tiny holes for the Ravenclaw/therapist. Who knows maybe when he tells her his plans for Opeila, she would understand w h y and let him do it. Throwing drinks and tripping wasn’t enough he literally needed to rip her slimy girly hands-off Percival- for Percival of course. Hanako hated broken promises.

With that in mind, he stomped away to find his therapist - even stomping for a drink. Planning your revenge on someone stealing your date is a tiring job. Despite almost splashing his paper bag with the said drink, he chugged down, his senses slowly returning to him. While he thought finding a single girl in a ball filled with students was futile, the idea of ruining Pei’s night as she did to his fueled his desire once again to find Dee. @Dealla Prince

Alas, it was not her that his eyes saw through his teeny tiny pep holes, but her close friend. Without a minute to spare, he walked to her. He didn't even care about why she was dancing with an invisible partner nor did he had any energy to think that he might have interrupted something between her and her friend @Zykeal Lane . With Paper Bag Chan covering his whole face, he rudely called her out. “ You “ he sneered, pointing a meek finger at her. “ I know you. You’re-” he paused, realizing he had never bothered to remember her name. The two had never interacted much before so it was expected but he had heard of some stuff about her from Dee so he knew exactly what to call her. “ Crappy cookie Lady. Eagled shaped cookie kinda lady @Ileen Knight een Not such a bad name when your mind is too filled with hatred. “ Where is she? Dee. I need to see her”.

As if the thought Dee was nearby, he felt his anger subsided slightly. Just enough to notice Dee’s friend was in fact, not a useless rock. His shoulders relaxed and took a good look at Crappy Cookie lady through his emotionless mask and said “ You’ll do ”. As if personal boundaries never crossed his mind, he took a step too close to Ileen. “ Be my date. I’ll get you macaroons. As many as you want. “

The boy was in no mood to placate the desire for answers to the girl's questions towards her best friend. Although he had come with the girl, he knew that the date wouldn't last long and had zero indication that they were any closer than before. So, he just shrugged when Ileen questioned him on such things and didn't bother to respond with any comments on the situation. It seemed that Ileen had a lot to say today though and she went on about something about loneliness, "Sure... sure," he just said, a slight twitch of a smile pulling at the edge of his features once more.

Surprisingly, she had agreed to dance with him and he let the smile take full form then. Allowing himself to ease the tension that rested within the boy's shoulders at the moment, "Ah, fun," and he watched as she got into an absurdly hilarious position as if some pure-blood had taught her mid-century ballroom dancing. Zykeal wasn't the greatest at this, he was more of a 'have fun while it lasts' type of person, but, he obliged her current dance stance and took his position accordingly. The dance they would have would be the most platonic and boring sight one could set their eyes upon. It was clear there was nothing there but to ease the boredom that the ball had brought to each of them.

After the quick dance was over, he'd disengage from Ileen and offer a slight nod to the girl as some boring looking individual in a paper-bag hat showed up. The kid, obviously rude, came demanding things of Ileen and completely ignoring Zykeal in his interaction with Ileen. This didn't bother Zyk, he didn't mind being neglected by useless individuals and just offered a slight nod towards Ileen, "I'll take my leave Ileen," and he smiled to his acquaintance, "Thanks for the dance, have fun," he offered, truly hoping she found the rest of the evening to be filled with excitement.

Turning away from the girl and the waste of space that stood next to her, he walked off towards the balls exit. Making his way through the crowd, he paid no more attention to others in the vicinity and figured he'd make his way towards his common room to think upon the duel he'd be having the next day. Clearly, plans would change in his future for the duel and he couldn't help but dawn a sly smirk that seemed all too mischievous upon his face.

Event The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Primary Interactions: @Maria Dee | @Marion Davenport
The ball’s formula was not one that would evolve with each occasion. Played out and predictable, these ball tropes would lead to the boy’s reluctance to engage. We know this story, don’t we? Heavy hearts and heavy hands do not need a starting pistol’s shot to initiate the haymakers. Tonight was merely a continuation for the bickering and impressionable student body to carry on their trivial trifles.

What was Maria Dee, then? Her purpose? Her role in Thomas’ evening was not clearly defined. Despite this healthy stage for a romantic interest, it was surely not the case. Not that there was an absence of appeal when the boy scanned her dark features. A tolerable face that managed to breach the surface of this sea of idiocy. Thomas was not readily equipped with an explanation for his choice. Could it be as simple as a breath of fresh air?

It appears Ryan’s ( @Erin Ryan ) taste has devolved from flimsy red-heads to brutish brunettes with a resting ***** face. Thomas knew of this former Gryffindor captain, supplanted by D’Spactio for reasons unknown. This unlikely power couple approached the walking freight train, fellow prefect and token giant at the ball this evening. At least that met the eye. The blonde did not waste time to throw the first blow, initiating a stir that drew in a handful of bystanders.

Among them, he identified one interventionist to be a friend ( @Santario Martin ) , the boy would take a step forward. His posture straightened, grip on his plastic cup tightened, the pumpkin juice rising to the rim from the pressure--a few drops slid down the cup’s side along his fingers. His intensity was subdued with the girl’s voice to his side, leading the boy to balance his attention. Burying the urge to approach the conflict, Santario could handle herself. Besides, to reveal his connection in front of Erin was a fool’s choice. If her sights did not hone in on him, they would swiftly find her.

So the boy bit his lip, tearing his blue eyes away from the group to find another familiar set of troublemakers. The boy’s ball date of yore (@Selim Faust ) appeared to be in cordial discussion with the bane of the ball. Faust’s position would spur curiosity as to how his connection with Vladimir has developed. Thomas would certainly take note of their position, marking them for future approach.

The encounter that preceded this “date” was not of your traditional storybook. Encouraged to take arms and fight fellow students, pitted against each other for the simple purpose of entertainment. Or was it suffering, was the house of Slytherin made to suffer that day? Not that asking makes a difference. At Hogwarts your questions are not answered, they are only multiplied with each disastrous event. The school has been infiltrated, and each attempt to squeeze out the venom has backfired.

Back to Thomas Lestrange, a boy that cynically cowered from this fixed, inevitable, inescapable… future. To be like dad. Now a boy cowering from his past, whether side to side or up and down--always on the move. Always running. An endless sprint, that only ever ends with himself emerging from the shadows, blocking his way out.

Maria addressed their pairing quite candidly, providing a road for Thomas to escape his head. “I can’t say.” Regardless of how Maria perceived it, Thomas’ comment did not denote concealment of his decision. It was an authentic statement, there was not a proper explanation for why he asked her. “A change of pace.” Perhaps it was his attempt at a normal evening. Where two people converse, enjoy one another’s company, share a laugh, an awkward dance. Was it so hard to believe the boy craved this simple evening? Unfortunately for Thomas, the answer was always yes. Truth overcomes intention.

“And why did you accept?” Though Thomas’ status was on the rise with his new positions, the same red flags hovered over his frame as an asterisk. Say no more than Auntie. Petunia. Maria’s eyes found the additional cup in the boy’s hand, showing an early inclination to speak her mind in a direct fashion, acquiring a few brownie points in the process. He motioned towards a blonde in the crowd. “Not a date.” Thomas nodded in Marion’s direction once more. “I think I’ll go offer my respects. Care to join?”

After Maria accepted the boy took careful strides through the crowd until he found Marion, paired with a boy Thomas knew due to his status as a quidditch player ( @Piérre Marchonné ) . Though Thomas did not acknowledge this boy, only having eyes for Marion. Surely she would have recognized the tint of his blue behind the mask, or his voice when he spoke. Thomas made no efforts to hide his identity.

With Maria at his side, Thomas stopped a few feet across Marion, issuing a gentle nod as he spoke. “Found a taller boy.” A reference to the half-goblin, Arlo Reynolds. A boy Thomas has not seen in some time, though only assumed was somewhere lower to the ground, shielded by tall folk. “For you.” Thomas offered Marion a cup of pumpkin juice(unspiked or is it)). If she declined, he would quirk a brow and offer it to her date. “My condolences.” Yes, that’s right---right to it. Thomas didn’t beat around the bush, he took a sword to the bush--damn bush.

Of note: Maria permitted godmodding. Closed to interactions unless mentioned.

How in all the possible realities could she have had her spell missed. Was the doll that wiggly to manage to avoid a spell being basically on the tip of the wand. The creature was something, yes. Just before the spell went into power, the creature managed to free itself from Meenauh's grip, causing the spell missing. Seconds later, it was lost on the ground again.

As Meenauh growled from another misfortune, her fury started to boil.

"You should have listened to us," the two more violent voiced screamed in unison.
"Yeah? And set the ballroom on fire or cut someone if missed?" the rational one parried.

First thought was to not let it go as another Summoning Charm was doing a great job. But actually, it was luck, not the spell. If not luck, the ballroom would be covered in blood. The intention was clear. And it must have been the same doll. The same doll that should have burned at the summer camp. Not only it survived, but it found its way to Hogwarts. From the freaking far away. How in the world?!

The next moment she heard Xailah basically shouting in the direction of the doll. Did it have ears? Could it hear? Would it listen? But Meenauh listened. The short monologue was heart-warming. Xailah was self-sacrificing. A true Gryffindor sparkled in the golden eyes of hers.

Meenauh stood there, paralysed for a while. Lots of different strategies were entering and leaving her mind. From what Pericles told them, the fire was the weapon. But... really? Did she want to be the source of the flame? Considering they were on another ball. She sighed. And readied her wand. The doll won't stop. Whatever would come her way this time, she had to prevent... dying.
Action: if Xailah succeeds in body-blocking, then cast Expelliarmus at the doll; if Xailah fails to body-block, then Dodge.

Lucille was fashionably late to her first ball as a second year, though of course it had been for good reason.

Lumi had ran run a muck in the Ravenclaw dorm when everyone was getting ready, leading her small tabby cat to exit Ravenclaw Tower and run a muck in corridors, the owlery, and study room alike.

Finally Lucille had led Lumi back to the Ravenclaw Dorm by having a very serious confrontation in the locked study room thanks to a quick Colloportus.

If she had made any plans with friends then it'd be much to late to see them, but thankfully she hadnt made any real plans so yay! no one to disappoint

Her outfit was based on the old "Wizard Of Oz" movie, and the Wicked Witch Of The West, with the floof-ish black dress, floppy pointed hat, and sparkly 'ruby' red shoes (tennis) shoes.

Of course the eagle hadnt gone so far as to paint herself green, but still, maybe the shoes would give fellow muggle-borns an idea of what she was.

Getting to the ball, she'd realize that most people were leaving anyway. However they had started to play a bit more spirited muggle music instead of the classical Lucille expected.

Tonight would not be a repeat of the Blossom Ball, which is why she'd go talk to someone now instead of when rabid mosps started attacking. Lucille knew a few people who were planning to go to the ball, like that prefect boy, @Pericles Dralt, or the nice first year, @Melissa Carson. But since there was hardly a way to notify them of her actually coming no harm could be done.

Strolling around the ballroom, moving her body to the beat, Lucille saw a very tall boy@Anastasia Beckett speaking to another girl@River Dewlight she didn't know. Not to say she knew the boy, so the assumption was they were from one of the foreign schools.

"Just say hi' Lucille tried to convince herself. They might not even speak English so what's the harm?"

Finally taking a deep breath the Ravenclaw would walk up to the pair.

Uhm- Hello, I'm Lucille, Lucile Williams. I-uh- don't think I've seen any of you around here so I'm guessing you're from a f-foreign school? Its er, very nice to meet you."

The room was clearing up relatively fast as students from the different schools continued to follow the spectral cat out of the ballroom and out into the large castle. Evanore herself had little idea of what it was about, though she felt no desire to follow along and figure it out. She had only one plan, and it was to go to the masquerade ball and hopefully have a better title than her previous attempt at attending a dance.
It was nice as much of the noise and chatting grew fainter the further away the herd of people got. Another sound caught her attention, the sound of footsteps approaching, as she turned back toward the dance floor her eyes landed on a tall boy with neat brown hair. Evanore looked up to meet his gaze as he approached, asking her if she would like to dance.
She took a quick moment to consider his invitation. She had come there to dance, so there wasn’t really any reason for her to say no.
«Why of course», she answered, giving him a polite smile and a nod. He looked quite familiar, though her mind struggled to place where she’d encountered him before. «Well it’s a pleasure to meet you Alexei», she replied as he’d introduced himself, «I’m Evanore Fairclay, Ilvermorny», she added for his question. «I can’t shake the feeling we’ve met before?», she said curiously, her eyes looking at the boy with a soft analyzing glimt. Her mind trying to make out where it was she’d seen him before, «Right», she lit up as she finally caught the memory in question. «The che- », something broke her off before she had time to finish her sentence. Glitter… glitter broke her off. And it was everywhere, and that included her eyes. Losing sight for a quick moment before her hands shot up to attempt to rub the glitter away from her eyes. Though everyone knows glitter doesn’t listen. It lives its own life. «Jeez, what in the actual..?». After wiping off as much of the glitter from her eyes as possible her head shot around trying to spot who brought the cloud in the first place. Though it seems they’d already made their way out of sight.
What did catch her attention was a girl stepping up to the two students as she introduced herself as Lucille. «Oh, hey Lucille, it’s nice to meet you too», she replied, «I’m Evanore, and yeah I’m from Ilvermorny», she added as she tried to wipe some glitter off her hands. «I take it you’re a Hogwarts student?», she asked in return. She wondered if Lucille had ever thought anything of the strange nature of Hogwarts’ previous happenings, or if it was all considered normal around here.

Alexei's brow furrowed as he saw what appeared to be a doll with a very large dagger trying to stab a girl who was definitely not dressed for the occasion. Should he go help? Perhaps. Was he going to? Not a chance. He wasn't someone who needlessly involved himself in other people's spats without all the information. He also wasn't generally someone who would involve himself in a physical fight if there were any alternatives.

Alexei smiled, pleased with himself and his charms when the girl said yes. He was really going to need to talk to his parents about letting him select his own date for the next event like this. "Oh, I can't imagine I would have forgotten our meeting before," he said smoothly. She was definitely familiar, but he couldn't much remember where from. He could say with a fair amount of confidence that they hadn't been formally introduced previously. He was about to lead Evanore to the dance floor and hopefully get a bit closer to her, in more ways than one, when another girl approached them.

"Lovely to meet you, Miss Lucielle," he said brightly. "I attend Durmstrang, and I am Alexei Petrov. I take it you are a Hogwarts student? May I ask if things like that ghost a few moments ago are commonplace here or?" Honestly, Alexei wouldn't be surprised no matter how she answered the question. He did find it slightly concerning that not a single adult had seen fit to chaperone the lot of students that had set off to frolic the castle, but that might be a cultural thing.

Florian had no doubt that his punch would connect with his target. Sure, Emile may be smaller than him... well... by quite a lot, but Florian was strong and had a fairly accurate arm. He watched as the small boy stumbled backward from his punch and leaned over in pain.

Serves him right.

The boy was gasping for air in front of him and Florian just stared at him, a big smirk on his face. Especially with his big mouth, it was quite visible to any passerby. He had won. He had successfully taken down his foe. Then the boy started sobbing, and then, he actually apologized to Florian. This was another thing he wasn't expecting from the boy; he figured he would run off to the bathroom or something. Perhaps back to that other boy he had seen him with when he and Rosa entered the ball. The boy barely tilted his head upward, and Florian put his hands on his hips in triumph.

"Well now, glad to see that knocked some sense into you... Emile." He smiled cockily at the boy and continued on. "Now... since it seems you are staying at this ball, how about you go and make yourself useful. The lovely lady Rosa has been waiting ever so long for some Champagne, think you could grab us those drinks?"

And with that, he turned on his heel and headed back toward his date. However, thoughts of her with someone else at the ball they were supposed to be at together kept rattling through his brain. His confidence and swagger after just successfully punching another small child in the gut began to subside again.

He really wouldn't be able to control himself if she was with someone else.

@Akari Kato
Drew grinned as he was dragged onto the dance floor. He lightly put his hand on Akari's waist. "Is this okay?" he checked with her, ready to take it off if she wasn't comfortable with it. Her eyes were trained on her own feet. He lifted his other hand, brushing one knuckle on her chin to guide her chin up and away from her feet. He said softly, "Don't look at your feet, Kari. You won't step on my toes, I promise. And, even if you do," With the other hand, he slipped it into her own, holding Akari's hand gently. "My shoes are rock-hard leather, so you won't hurt me. Just look at me, 'kay?" He had done this many times before, at his grandparents' dances. They had become more and more few now that there were less that respected their family any more, but Drew was more well versed in being cordial and fancy than Akari probably was. And that was okay with Drew, he was willing to give her slack. "Ready?" They started to sway, gliding around near the center of the dance floor. They got a hang on the rhythm, and then Drew stepped back, spinning her around with the hand that was already holding hers. They came back together, becoming more comfortable. "Not too shabby, Miss Kato."
