A gloomy saturday | 16:10 | Eating at the great hall
As they passed the entrance hall to the great hall Rosie wondered where Eva would prefer to sit. It wasn't around dinner time so a lot of places were available. Rationally thinking about it, it was more likely that ravens wouldn't mind seeing a slytherin there, so Rosie just walked to the edge of the Ravenclaw table. The folded blanket went next to her and the books and her backpack worked as some type of hurdle on the table, to kind of create this private ambience for her and Evergood.
She asked in her mind for some chamomile tea and vegetable sandwiches on fresh french bread, while waiting to see what the new friend would ask for she opened her notebook and grabbed a pen to the other side of her. _Let's work on our brand. So you are good with magical creatures which I'm not. I'm turning out to be great at transfiguration and charms, and you? I also can't fly, make me tense, I'm a floo powder person._She wrote two columns in her paper.

Eva followed Rosie into the great hall, and then to the Ravenclaw table, and sat across from her. Then she set her bag next to her on the bench. In her mind she asked for some rose tea and some vegetable and ham sandwiches. Her and Rosie's food and tea appeared in front of them. She watched Rosie pull out and open her notebook and write something.
"I'm good with charms too. I seem to be doing good with flying so far. It's not super comfortable, but I'm gettin' used to it. I traveled by floo powder a lot when I was little, whenever we needed to go to london, so I got used to that, but I like flying on broomsticks so far." Eva took a break from talking to take a sip of her tea. "I'm also doing good in herbology."
Eva ate one of her sandwiches, and brushed her hair out of her face. Her hair still felt quite frizzy. Humid air always made her hair frizz up, not that Eva minded to much. Her hair always frizzed up when she took it out of a braid. She took another sip of tea and looked at Rosies notebook. "What are you writing all this stuff for?"

_Oh that's right I can also be fine at herbology. So I'm also doing fine at History of Magic, how are you in Defense against the dark arts? I'm not loving it._ Rosie kept adding things to the list while also sideways devouring her sandwiches. _Oh this, this is a map. It can map our strong and weak suits now at the beginning. We can see how we evolve, keeping statistics of us as study buddies. Plus, helps to keep a profile of our differences._ And on the verge of almost coughing because she was eating quite fast Rosie stopped to drink some tea. She wished for some cream and added a couple of drops to it. _My family is on potion making and baking. Yours?_ She got back to writing. _This is to prove we are not ghosts of each other. Or something like separated relatives. Thankfully we are very different. Well, not thankfully-thankfully, I would love red hair. You get it. _Rosie then wrote a list of similar strong suits and another of different strong suits. They were the same with charms, astrology, herbology. That can be healthy competition. In potions Rosie simply wrote a question mark, she didn't know if she was good at it, she definitely procrastinated a lot in anything concerning potions. Also in class it was hard to focus.A gloomy saturday | 16:10 | Eating at the great hall

Eva thought about her Defence against the dark arts class. "I'm alright at Defence against the dark arts." Eva took a bite of one of her sandwitches. She thought it was a good idea. The map Rosie was making. They wanted to find differences between themselves. She took another sip of tea. "My father is a wandmaker, and my mum.. well, she didn't have a job before I left for Hogwarts. She said she was going to look for a job in the Ministry, but I haven't heard if she got one yet."
Eva took another glance at the notebook. They had some classes in common, but they also had classes where they were different. That was good. When Rosie complemented her hair, Eva reached her hand up to touch her hair. "Thanks." She took another bite of her sandwich, and continued to silently watch Rosie scribble things down on her notebook. She glanced up at the ceiling of the Great Hall, which had the same rainy look as the windows, where you could see the rain continuing to poor down. Taking another sip of tea, Eva listened to the pouring of rain outside, and thought how lucky they where to be in the dry building, and not out in the rain.

_A wand maker! That is definitely interesting. What did he say about our cherry wood unicorn hair wands?_It would be nice if her father had a professional opinion to give on it. She would never ask if that was Eva's area of interest, to follow in her father footsteps on wand making, for herself Rosie would avoid at all cost think if she would be good enough to fill in the gaps as a potion maker in her family. As Rosie finished her notes for the reasonable amount of information she collected that day she also finished her sandwich. _Oh, hope she gets the job. I could never work at the ministry but people that do always seem so important._Rosie tried to picture herself as an adult, she couldn't, neither as a ministry person. Divination might not be it.A gloomy saturday | 16:10 | Eating at the great hall
_Everything is done. For now. I'll keep this in my journal so I don't lose it._And she fold the piece of paper two times so it would fit between the pages of her notebook. _That was a fun afternoon. Seriously, thank you. We should start exchanging owls!_And Rosie wished for a cupcake, that appeared in front of her. _Hmmm, cinnamon cupcake. Try it._

"Well, when I first got my wand, he was telling me all about it. He said that unicorn tail core wands bond strongly with their first users, and that cherry wood wands can be quite powerful." When Eva's father had told her about this, she had found it quite interesting. She had always been interested in her fathers wand making, but she didn't think it was something she would like to do herself.
"Yes, I hope she gets the job too. She said she would owl me as soon as she got it. Before I left for school she said she was planing to look into something to do with the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, or maye becoming an editor for the Daily Prophet. If the first one doesn't work out." Eva didn't know how she would feel, working in the Ministry of Magic. She guessed if she had to work there she would want to work in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, but she wanted a job that wouldn't be like an office job, but still involved creatures. Like owlet trainer, or something to do with dragons.
"Ok." Eva watched as Rosie folded up her paper. "That was fun. Yeah, we should totally start exchanging owls!" Eva also wished for a cinnamon cupcake after Rosie's had appeared. "Mmmm, cinnamon."

_Is not that fascinating? I heard that these wands are good for amplifying magic too._ Cherry wands are also well-known to choose witches and wizards who need stability, intuition, insight, and focus in spellcasting, as well as difficulties in dealing compassionately with others. If Rosie had a talent was to overthink significance in everything. Specially when it comes to magical matters. I mean If her hat and her wand were so obviously aware of how lost she was how come she did not feel any despair? She wondered if Eva's dad would be keeping more secrets, some details about the wand he would not even tell her, because she was to eventually find that out. Was there more to find out about a wand and you, personally, as a wizard? _I sure hope my wand likes me. I heard unicorn hair can be burned out sometimes, if not respected. And need replacement. Can you imagine?_A gloomy saturday | 16:10 | Eating at the great hall
Then she kept eating her cinnamon cupcake while Eva told her about her mom. She had a feelin the woman was full of energy and smiled a lot. _Daily prophet would be a lot cooler. Journalism is something I could do, better than office. Bored and sitting down everyday. Just like school but even more lame and gray._ So the friend also liked cinnamon. Good point to be added between the two. _I'm full but I'm taking two to my dorm. Maybe three. Yes three because someone might ask for one._And so she did, wished for more 3 of those pretty small cakes.

"It is fascinating, isn't it." Her father had told her all sorts of things related to cherry wood wands and unicorn hair cores, some of which she couldn't remember at the moment, but Eva had a small feeling there was at least one or two things that he knew that he hadn't told her. If he had kept anything from her, it was probably because he wanted her to find it out for herself though. He did that with lots of things. He would tell her a few details about something to get her interested, and then leave her to learn the rest on her own.
"Yeah. I don't know how I would do with an office job. It just sounds so boring. I want to do something where I get to move around more. Do more things."
She watched as three more cupcakes appeared in front of Rosie. Maybe she would get some more as well. They were pretty good cupcakes. "I think I'll get a couple to bring to my dorm too." Eva wished for another cinnamon cupcake. She also wished for a chocolate cupcake, and the two small cakes appeared on the table in front of her.

_So I guess we really are friends now._Rosie smiled as she tried keeping the little cakes together enough to balance the backpack, now completely full behind her, the big history book that did not fit on her hand and then the cupcakes on top of it. _I'll send an owl as soon as I can if you don't mind! Then we can arrange time to study. You know that table on the west wing next to a window? I like to sit there now, there is no competition there. We can plan a time to meet up, okay?_And she got up, successfully not knocking over her deserts. _Oof. That was close._And with her head she tried to convey what a handshake or a hug could, a short bow. As to say, see you in a bit. _Oh! Maybe I can even invite some other colleagues too. A study group would be the only club I am able to get in the moment. You will be a remarkable slytherin, I can tell, you might be like my grandma._ And as Rosie sat in her room that night, and ate the little cakes she spent a time looking at the pen that started it all. It was all good and sooner than expected the pen could be a joke or a symbol of a silly time on their history. She also liked feeling like Eva understood her, because they had such similar interests, it was clear that at least Eva would not think Rosie was annoying. In her heart the expectations of friendship and lightness bloomed, it is a surprising feeling every time a friend can cheer you up in ways you did not think you needed. Maybe to focus on people more like Eva would be best than wasting it on others.... like Jo Morgan. Rosie almost made a mistake with Evergood for letting Morgan get in her way of seeing the good in things. Confusion, self-doubt and all that introspection of suspecting others would only sabotage Rosie, she now saw it all. Eva was an easy mistake to fix, but with her heart reflorished the Willew girl would not allow herself to fall into that withering. No. Not again.A gloomy saturday | 16:30 | Eating at the great hall

"Yeah, I guess we are." Eva smiled. She had pulled her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her cupcakes. one in each hand. "Ok. Yeah I don't mind, and yeah I know what table your talking about. I await your owl for study times!" She stood up as well, trying not to laugh as Rosie balanced her things. "Good save."
Eva copied the small bow Rosie had made. With both of their hands full it was kind of hard for anything else. "Oh, that would be fun!" It would be nice to get to know other students, and what better way of meeting new people then by being introduced by a friend.
She smiled at the complement. She didn't know Rosie's grandmother, but she seemed interesting. She thanked Rosie and headed off for the Slytherin common room.
Later that evening, as Eva sat in her bed, eating one of her cupcakes, she thought of how nice it was to have Rosie as a friend. It was definitely better then 'the girl who thought Eva stole her pen'. It was cool, that she was able to find someone with such similar interests as herself. She felt that Rosie might understand her and the things she did more then others might.
Eva finished her cupcake and reached for a book on her nightstand. She always liked to read a bit before going to bed. It calmed her down. After reading for a little while, she put her book back on the nightstand, and fell asleep. Her dreams filled with pouring rain, study groups, and cupcakes.
