Astronomy tower | 2 PM | Studying_Isn't life an AO3? I'm just passing time. Don't worry. Character archetypes are just so fun, you start looking at people and matching them with patterns, you end up doing this accidentally._ She suddenly remembered what he could be waiting for. Oh, the special reward. She reached for her backpack and started turning her objects around looking for the gift she prepared. _There you go. Is a thank you letter._ She handed him a folded and sealed paper. Inside there was a thank you note, a proclamation of you as the nation hero for finding the pins and a Free Soda Bread Ticket supply, two weeks worth. It was the best she could come up with in a day. _If you weren't raised as a wizard you probably missed on a lot of things. There you go, now you can get enchanted soda bread for two weeks. Hope you like it._ Games, smartphones, technology. Lady Aithne wasn't a fan of those. Also, Rosie couldn't see much of the appeal, at least the time she tried video games her head hurted from all the lights and flashes. For someone born with that, he might miss it a lot. _Yikes. Did you get the time to actually explore and do what wizard kids do? With no tech in this case. Like gobstones._
Well a good thing about living as a muggle has to be the fact you usually don't have a weight on your shoulders about any specific house tradition. Nowadays families were nicer about it, but with pure blood you never know. _What do you mean! Badgers are so cute. They dont look like it but they are carnivores. They can be cool. Hufflepuff is winning all games, earning the most house points, also you guys are getting the best grades. Maybe I should have been a badger._She tried to picture it, but now that a couple of days had passed after the sorting ceremony she couldn't bring herself to even believe she at some point wouldn't mind any house. Well, almost any. _I have a bias towards Ravenclaw but I wouldn't mind being a snake, maybe they are too classy for me._She shrugged and started packing her things, a while had passed and she should get some food, maybe even some tea before finishing her homework. Some planning would also be a good idea.

He nodded in agreement to her statement, he didn't really scrutinize people that much. He'd almost forgotten about the special reward, he took he paper gingerly and unfolded it as if it were a treasure.
This declares you, the carrot pin finder, as a national hero. good on you for that
he supposed it felt rather nice to help people, included in the letter was a coupon for... soda bread? he didn't quite want to know what soda bread was. indeed i did, I guess ill have to try this soda bread sometime", he chuckled in a way that hopefully didn't show his confusion. "I've done a tad bit of reading, a lot of backyard type games, I haven't played gobstones yet", he found himself again twiddling his thumbs, feeling it wasn't socially acceptable to get another candy. "having no prior knowledge, I suppose badgers arent too bad", he once again shrugged, forever indifferent. "I've yet to run into any Slytherins, they seem like a relatively nice crowd" As she began putting her things back in her bag he did the same, continuity. "it was nice meeting you", he held out his hand for a shake hoping that wasn't too formal. it was nice to have a conversation for once.

_Oh but you must. They will deliver for you in Owls, but if you ever go to Dublin go to Willew Bread's stores and tell them you're a Hogwarts friend. Bet they'll feed you a lot for free. My grandma simply loves irish people and has her reserves against english. Go figure._ She joke, because her grandma was so loud about irish values and irish history, yet since Rosie was basically grown as a english person, she could barely pretend to agree, or at least imagine how it would be to agree. Best of both worlds. Perhaps she was both at once. Irish-ish.
_I have a friend- fellow Raven, he loves gobstones, I'm terrible at it because honestly I don't have fun at it. But I bet he would love if we all played. He would teach us. We can have a contest even._ It was a real proposal, after all Rosie wouldn't waste her time with fake chit-chats. She just expected Karkat to know it was a real invitation. She was glad he accepted the thank you and didn't got mad. Well, if he was annoyed by the reward he didn't show. Perhaps he couldn't complain, not knowing if he would enjoy or not the soda breads. _Slytherins are the ones I meet the most. Maybe I'm drawn to them. You're the first hufflepuff I've met, honestly._She stood up and got the bag of candies, still half full from the desk and placed in Karkat's hand as he offered a hand-shake. _Here, this too. It was nice meeting you too comrade!_And with a not at all serious salutation, hand to the forehead type of gesture she left. Gotta go and gossip about the hufflepuff mystery hero who saved missing carrots.

Karkat stood with a goofy smile on his face after she left. just hours ago he had himself thinking he wouldn't have a single friend here, now he's got at least one. of course, he missed his old friends dearly but new beginnings are always good. he kept that thought in mind as he buckled his satchel and left for the door. he was still learning about this place but now in a way, he felt less alone. so our protagonist left the astronomy tower that day with a spring in his step, he thought about how wrong his father was and wanted to laugh at him just for the idea. this was the feeling of playing trucks with someone on the playground for the first time, or whatever the wizard equivalent is. he would find out the equivalent that was for sure, maybe gobstones would be fun, (once he actually figured out what it was) and he could be the best player you ever did see. if that even is an accomplishment. never the less he found himself walking a little straighter that day. nonchalant with leisure, and that was an amazing way to feel I'll tell you that.
