Ileen gasped in indignation. The news that Dee had left made her forget her little accident in their collision which she would probably have been ashamed of otherwise. Although, she had encountered Zykeal in worse situations… She stood on her toes to look out for her friend, as successfully as she had searched for Erik. Although Ileen was tall for her age, she was still way shorter than many of the other students around her who were blocking her view. Quietly snarling and somewhat resigned she turned back to the Gryffindor. "Do you mean ‘ran off’ in the sense that she left the ball?" How dared Dee leave her alone with all these chaotes? Had she followed the ghost rider?
Ileen was far too busy with her own misery to be sensitive to Zykeal's words. Although this was usually her strength, in this case she couldn't tell if he was angry, sad or hurt, because she didn’t pay attention. Her brown eyes still glided over the crowd searching for the brunette hair, but no Dee anywhere around.
So, she turned to Zykeal with a smile after she reluctantly accepted that she would probably have to handle the situation without Dee. “Sorry about that. Good you fixed it.” She pointed at his sleeve and tilted her head to mirror his gesture as he had done it with her a few days ago. Then, she waved away his words about the time limit of his companionship. “Nonsense. There are many people around here. I lost my company as well, so…” She shrugged and gave him another smile. “And to be honest, loneliness is definitely preferable to the company of some people. And sure, why not. I’d love to dance, but I have to warn you: I’m only slightly better than Dee, so I hope you know what you are doing, because I only know the little my father taught me.” She spread her arms and got into dance position tilting her head backwards in an exaggerated manner to ease the situation and hide her nervousness. But dancing sounded good. And afterwards she would probably stop by the costume party.

Selim nodded shortly as Vladimir refused his offer for ice, then cocked a brow at the upperclassmen's next comment.
"You're less... twitchy, then I recall."
The comment made the raven laugh, it lacked humor, "Perhaps I've just learned how to better hide it." His chilling blue eyes flicked away as he watched the half-giant leave after Athanatos harshly hissed at him to leave his dancing partner alone. That causes him to shoot Vlad a mildly curious, but otherwise impassive look. Seems the Ravenclaw could be quite possessive.
"You yourself seem uneasy. Perhaps trying to keep an eye on your unreasonable enemies in school?" It was less of a question than a statement of fact. Selim could relate well with that. "Truly troublesome, does no one know that this dance is meant to build friendships, not end them?" He muttered more to himself as he scowled at the nearby brawl.
The girl spoke up, and he looked over, cocking his head one way as she asked a Valid question. He didn't dare answer though, as she was likely asking Athanatos, not him. Besides, this was a rather good chance to gauge Vladimir's relationship with their peers.
His gaze flicked back to where he saw Jack enter, and he watched the redhead carefully, idly letting his chopsticks dance between his fingers as he silently wished he had some sushi on him to use the utensils on. He often used the chopsticks more for his meals than actual weapons, not necessarily a bad thing.
Besides, it was harder to check utensils for poison rather than food.
Yes, Selim was that paranoid, shouldn't really be a surprise to most. Luckily he was slowly beginning to try and build up immunity to poison, perhaps he would reach that level in his third year.
"If you'd allow me, Athanatos, I'd rather take care of my dormmates if any come after you. I'd rather not allow them to act deplorable without me myself punishing them." He sighed. "Perhaps it would focus some of their ire on me instead of you, but that may just be the wishful thinking of a child."
He almost wished the school balls could be normal for once, and he scanned the room for anything suspicious while keeping one ear on the conversation he was partially participating in.
Tiresome indeed, he was glad Kioshi was safe in their dorm room.

Deciding she had waited quite long enough for her date to take an honest interest in: her or anything about her, dancing/the ball in general, or anything asides from chatting with his friends, Roberta marched off towards the doors, her face chock full of disappointment. Perhaps it was how her date managed to easily strike up a conversation with his classmates while not even bothering to introduce or invite her into the discussion. Perhaps it was how even after asking him to dance and pleading with him to show her off he had seemed uninterested in her idea of fun. The real reason she finally chose to ditch him was determined when he began talking about other girls in front of her. As if he hadn't even considered how she might take such slights. If he wasn't going to give her chance to impress him then she wouldn't be pleased with him either.
As she approached the doors to the corridors outside, Roberta thought for a moment that she could turn back around and scan the crowd for someone who looked lonely, or maybe just someone who had nobody to dance with. It was after all a masquerade ball, any number of people might have wanted to dance with her. For all she knew, she might even have her pick of partner on the dance floor with little to no repercussions. After all, she would depart from Hogwarts after a short while and if she chose not to share who she was during their dance together then she was completely within her rights to do so. None would be any wiser for her coming or going. Still it was a foreign lobby of children mingling and she felt out of place. For all of her etiquette and friendliness she was still just another single person, a third wheel.
"Alas," she said as she confidently grabbed for the handle to make her exit. Nothing but lost hope to console her now, it was too soon to think about letting go of her feelings. It was too soon after her dramatic heartbreak to dance again. Unless, of course, someone who was just as alone as she was came along and wanted to dance with her.
As she opened the door to leave, a boy who was not prince charming but handsome all the same stood just opposite of her as if he were contemplating even entering the ball. His casual ball attire actually matched the dress she had worn better than her own date's getup. The dress she wore was picked by out by her friends, as the young "Abeille" had more sense for swords than fashion. She laughed fiercely for a moment, and she laughed as a lion would laugh witnessing a mouse stealing a bit of cheese from under its nose, but just as quickly remembered her manners and cut the laugh short.
"Pardon me," she said hoping to excuse her outburst of laughter, "it's just that, I stood opposite of the door convinced it was time for me to leave the party and you seem.... Well I suppose what you seem like doesn't matter much at all." She shrugged, the way a warrior does when they are confused by an obstacle to their triumph. She did not see a girl or boy attached to his arm, so she thought it keen of herself to ask. "Did you come without a date or are you waiting for someone?" Her confident smile returning and still partly visible behind her mask. "Either way, come in out of the hallway before someone else sees you and thinks you are a dork."

Lamik took a few moments to look around at the other attendees of the ball. After ensuring that none of them were demonic creatures or murderous lunatics he turned back to Iris. Suddenly, Lamik realized that her hand was still in his, and he quickly let it go with a bit of a startled gasp. "Uh- sorry." He muttered. It was a redundant apology, especially considering the dance that they were about to... well... dance. Trying to mask his inability to think of anything of importance to say the boy took a step towards her. It's now or never, I guess...
The Gryffindor tried his best to remember how he saw people doing it in the movies. Unfortunately, he couldn't remember for the life of him the fancy classical dances that old people liked. Something about holding hands to the side and stepping forwards and backward. There was another option though- but it seemed a bit more... intimate. Oh well. A date was a date, wasn't it? Standing as close as he could bring himself to stand to Iris, Lamik raised his hands and meekly placed them on her hips. "Is this ok...?" He asked hesitantly. It was definitely ok for him. The closeness was, for a lack of a better word, nice. Especially with someone who made him feel the way that Iris did.

Why did everyone seem to think that Hogwarts was dangerous. First, Lazarus Plott, who was barely ever serious at all, had warned them about the danger of Hogwarts. And, then, Jess told them to be careful! These people had more knowledge about Hogwarts but why was Hogwarts dangerous? It made Drew a little worried. But, if anything happened, he would protect Akari and everything would be okay.
The Masquerade Ball was much spookier than the costume party had been. And there were more people here, too. Drew led Akari into the Ballroom, stopping to marvel at the decorations of the room. It was truly a great effort on the students who had prepared it.
He looked around for Greg and Elisabeth. They didn't seem to be here, as far as he could tell, but then again, Drew wasn't super observant. Maybe they were out having fun some other place? Maybe... maybe there was some romance between the two that Drew hadn't picked up on?
Either way, Drew had come here to dance with Akari. If she didn't want to, that was fine, too, but he turned to her and said, "I don't see Greg or Elisabeth, so maybe we can catch up with them later. Do you wanna dance?"

Oh no. Oh no, no, no. Xailahs spell was weak. Why did Meenauh have to be so good at everything she did? Xailah should have known that trying to intervene with a spell, would only result in failure. She was no good at spells- especially if Meenauhs casting was part of the equation, and she new that! Yet she still tried to use them. And at the worst times too. The black-clad cat, watched in horror as her maskless friend successfully summoned her target for a second time. There was something different about what she had summoned though- it looked to be holding something now. Good god- was that a knife? Damn it. Her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. She scrambled towards Meenauh, and what she could now recognize as a hag doll. Oh- but she was too slow. She skidded across the ballroom floor, with a hand outstretched. But she was too late. Stab, Stab, STAB; Went the doll. Xailahs heart stopped.
There should have been blood. Everywhere. But there was none. Not a drop. She saw the blade of the dagger- that the doll was wielding- disappear into its sheath, as it repeatedly made contact with Meenauhs chest. It was fake. Thank god it was fake. The fates were watching over her friends tonight. A small laugh echoed in Xailahs head. If only the Gryffindors knew just how lucky they had been. There had been a total of six weapons brought to the party. Two of the six were fake. Not that either lioness knew, or even thought about it. Meenauh looked to be much angrier than she was, moments ago. And understandably so. She thrust her wand forward and at the doll. She was going to try to get it to stop squirming.
Regardless of the success of Meenauhs spell, Xailah would attempt an approach that was different than her usual ones, when dealing with threats. It was like she heard the tiny voice that rang in Meenauhs head. Calm it. That was what she would try to do. Meenauh could restrain its physical attacks- but could she calm that little fire that flickered inside it? Doubtful. Not while she was angry anyways. It was time Xailah tried to do something helpful. "Stop-" The lioness bellowed. Her usual soft tone, was now sharp. "Please." Her voice quivered, as if trying to cover the malicious tone. "Please stop trying to kill my friends. I do not appreciate it."
She took a step forward, holding her breath. The doll was obviously intelligent- in the sense that it could walk, and run, and had a decent idea of how to kill things. It clearly knew that a knife blow to the heart was fatal. So it should have been able to listen and understand her- or even her tone at the very least. "Maybe we can talk about this?" Yes. Deep down, under all that lace and expensive fabric, Xailah still wanted to talk with that rag. Even though she didn't quite know that it was the rag. It didn't really matter. She wanted to talk. "If you don't calm down, I'm afraid I'll have to let Meenauh kill you. I don't want to do that, but if thats what it takes to put an end to this, so be it." She was trying her best to remain calm, since she knew that she only had one shot at subduing the antagonizer, before Meenauh took things into her own hands (no pun intended).
Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
action: being an awkward mess and accepting roberta's ( @Sylvain Indarys ) suggestion (?) to enter the ballroom.
It wasn’t worth it, best go back, waste of time, no actual benefit, loads of things ran through Noah’s head, each convincing him further that “missing” out wouldn’t be nearly as bad having to go to that ball, what was he going to do there anyway? Sit and look at others having fun wishing he had a friend to be with too? No, he had better things to be doing... well, not really but that sounded like the opposite of fun so he’d rather be doing nothing.
But before he could turn back, he was dragged out of his thoughts by the sound of someone laughing. He was dazed for a second but realized soon that there was a person standing in front of him. He blinked, what was she laughing at? It didn’t really occur to him that she could be laughing at him till she asked him to excuse her, was that for the sudden outburst or because she thought he’d think she was laughing at him? Either way, he wasn’t sure what to think of her at all. On one hand, he wanted to walk away but a part of him also realized this could be an opportunity to not go back to his dorm, like any other day and do something different.
He raised an eyebrow when she almost said something about his condition. He genuinely wasn’t sure what she meant to say by that, was something off about him? He was a bit nervous to enter but that wasn’t exactly that bad now, was it? Was it his clothes? They were slightly unusual, maybe, but not that much, were they? He wasn’t an expert on fashion but it didn’t look like her clothes were that formal either. Well whatever, as if he could read some normal persons mind like that, who knows what they think. And what was that thing she called him anyway? Dork? What the hell did that mean? He was slowly starting to wonder if he really should’ve gone back instead.
“Well... I just... forgot to ask.” It didn’t really matter if he was good at lying or not because that lie was simply too bad to be accepted, even if he was an incredible liar. He simply didn’t even think he would be showing up here so he didn’t bother asking anyone. Although that implies that anyone would have wanted to go with him to begin with. Not that he cared, who wanted to go to a stupid ball with someone? What was the point in that?? He’d never understand.
Why did he even come up with a lie that bad anyway? He replied too quickly, he should’ve spent more time to think but it was as if his brain was functioning incorrectly. Maybe it was his anxiety from before, maybe it was just him being socially inept... Or maybe it was how self-conscious he was feeling all of a sudden. What was that all about? He also realised he wasn’t even looking at the girl he was supposed to be talking to, was he embarrassed? That couldn’t be, he had talked to girls before... a few times? She was kinda pretty, he admitted, but it wasn’t even that hard considering she was wearing a mask, was it? Or maybe it was because it meant this was sort of like her becoming his date? For now, all he knew was that he wasn’t thinking straight and he also couldn’t look at her, he simply pretended like he was deep in thought instead.
“Well, anyway, let’s go I guess.” he said, deciding he shouldn’t be wasting his time if he had already made the decision, waiting for her to start walking so he could follow.

Aeron produced a wand from a hidden pocket on the inside of their coat. The wand was easy to hide their and the boy probably didn't feel it. That was perfect. Quinn thought they didn't bring their wand. However, in a moment of brief distraction Aeron took control long enough to hide it away. It was just short enough for the boy not to realize what had happened, not like it matter at this moment since Aeron was in full control.[font=Monotype Corsiva]Open To Interactions

She could feel the tugging of another. She knew who it was and his childish tantrum's truly got on her nerves. That wasn't to say that Harlin didn't have his uses or that he wasn't deadly in his own right. Harlin just knew, he couldn't outright beat her. She used this mercilessly to her advantage. Aeron's eyes went back blearily to Kyle, who she was having trouble clearly seeing because of the smoke. They were getting ready to cast a spell when something small and pale ran to their...defense? But who in their ri-
That last thought didn't get a chance to complete, because Aeron was genuinely surprised to see Quinn's..."Grá" The voice growled out in begrudging reluctance and apprehension. Aeron knew how much this Dhampir meant to Quinn, she could feel it at times when she was dormant or on the rare occasion see it. That was usually when she decided to silently and cautiously watch through his eyes, seeing what he saw. Nico in her eyes was an enigma. She hated enigma's. They were unpredictable and could be deadly if things turned wrong.
However, the fact remained that the tall child, her Quinn loved her with the ferocity nearing what a mother feels for their precious baby. In Quinn's case as close to that as he could at least. Eyes going wide Nico's threats and outrage honestly garnered some brownie points with the wrathful protector. Aeron had to begrudgingly admit that Nico was ever so slowly winning her over, but if she ever did anything to hurt her son...well then Aeron would gladly use that as an excuse to tear her apart piece by piece. Till then the little spitfire was okayish in her book, but just barely.
The entire time that these thoughts were going through Aeron's mind, she was staring surprised and cautious at Nico. Finally snapping back to rage bellowed up again as she looked between Erin and Kyle. Those two would get their punishments later. For now Quinn was in bad shape and his wounds hurt like hell. His protection was her number one priority and right now Nico presented a golden opportunity.
"A ligean ar dul. Gheobhaidh an dá leathcheann seo a bpionóis níos déanaí. Tá Quinn gortaithe agus níor mhaith liom a bheith leis na greannú seo níos mó." Once again Quinn spoke with an uncharacteristically high-pitch feminine tone. It was his voice but at the same time it wasn't most importantly it spoke in Irish which Quinn rarely did himself. From the mannerism's to the menacing presence he gave off, to the near indescribable wrath raging behind his now sharp, and hardened eyes. This clearly wasn't Quinn. Regardless by their clearly injured state and the fact they deliberately pointed to the exit wand held tightly in the other hand. The message was clear. Let's leave.
For a brief moment a hand was placed on Nico's shoulder squeezing harder then normal to the point of slight pain but no more. As this act was done an extremely unsettling look was shot to Erin if she could see and to Kyle as the Half-Giant made a slow attempt to bring himself up right. If Nico managed to heed what Aeron was implying then she would take Nico's hand and try to make way for the exit. Moving slow with a small limp on shaky legs wincing at almost every step...gods it hurt.

Jay looked around even more, they started to feel an odd sense of sadness. Perhaps Miss Monet didn't want to dance with them, and that was okay. Maybe they should of stood and watched the chaos unfold with whatever that half giant was involved with. A lot of people seemed either busy with their little groups, fighting, or happily dancing away with their partners. They stood around and fiddled with a strand of green hair as they got deep into their thoughts.
They felt quite unlucky, were they too weird for peoples taste? Jay took their rapier and started to examine it, they had never looked at it quite closely, the hilt was very fancy. This gave Jay the idea to hang it by their dorm bed, the hilt was definitely more fancy than the original Zorro's. They still found it very odd that they had conveniently found it laying around Hogwarts. Jay walked to an empty table near the ballroom entrance and placed it there, they hoped no-one would take it, I mean... Who needs a rapier at a dance, amirite? They thought as they walked away from the table.
Now it was a time to look for a dance partner or find some sort of trouble to stick their noses in. The whole Quinn-and-mysterious-girl-whos-boyfriend-might-be-Rook situation wasn't of interest to them anymore. Last masquerade was quite entertaining at least, there was fire, and to Jay that was fun.
Jay Victoria continued to hang around by the dance floor, hopefully someone would interact with them. Though they were perhaps fated to be alone for the night.

Wasn’t that the fun thing about someone not knowing what you know? All they could assume was that it was a sheer coincidence and not some pointed insinuation. That was also the good thing about someone not knowing a single thing about the person that stood in front of them. Illowy would have no way of knowing any intention behind Santario’s words, and Santario would give her none as she dodged the older girl’s spell. Hell, Illowy could hardly say she knew anything about Santario besides the girl's name.Roleplaying| Santario Martin
Interacting| @Illowy Magnard

Though for now, it would seem like the older student was more talk and less action where it mattered, but still, she respected Illowy’s call to protect her family. That was the only reason Santario had bothered to show up to the ball in the first place. As Illowy approached closer, Santario would not flinch merely look unamused. Her eyes flitting towards Quinn, trying to get up and leave. “They aren’t my people. I just wasn’t willing to tolerate the injustice of someone being harmed for no good reason.” She knew if Nico could get away with Quinn, then they would be fine; the dhampir would take care of the half-giant, and all would be well. Well, until the prefect probably reported the situation to their and Gryffindor’s head of house. She doubted Nico would just let this slide without bringing the professors into it. Besides, it would seem the young wolf was making far more enemies than friends. Illowy couldn’t fight them all for him, and she wouldn’t always be around either.
She looked back at Illowy and shrugged as the situation seemed to dissolve itself before leaving the group. Nico’s strange feelings were not going to help her in a fight, and neither was the fact that Nuts&Bolts was decently distracting, at least not at the same time. It was not acceptable to continue where you could do more harm than good. So instead, she looked for her cousin and the blonde boy she had been with. Only to note that she did not see them anywhere. Perhaps they had been smart enough and left.
