Another day another quaffle grab. Or maybe three. Deciding to stick with the two-headed dragon that they had wound up with, Alan and Pierre did their best to stop Slytherin from inching their score even higher. They were mostly successful, grabbing the quaffle twice in a row. Unfortunately for them, this only happened after Slytherins star chaser of the game, Nico Shymane, managed to grab onto it once.

It's not very often that one spectates a game where the keepers rather consistently decide to forgo their traditional duties, yet this was one of those cases. While Pierre was, of course, flying Alan towards the hoops, Koko was off doing god knows what. With both sides left unguarded Alan managed to score both times while Nico managed to score once.

Slytherin really seemed to have decided to go on the offensive. Unfortunately for them, Gryffindor decided to pool their players into defense just in time. Kyle swooped in just in time to stop two bludgers from hitting Anastasia and Evelynn head-on. He wasn't able to completely mitigate their harm, however, as both made impact with him instead, dropping the beater from his broom. His captain was prepared for something like this though, and Kyle found himself caught by Rafa instead of by the dirt. Not only that, but the leader of the Gryffindor team somehow managed to dodge Koko as she threw herself at the two, putting his reaction time to the test. Another attack came in the form of Alexx, blatching for the third time that game. She aimed herself at Anastasia, and only just missed. Finally, Tyranni tried knocking Pierre and Alan from their shared broom, but as luck would have it, the co-captain also failed.

Dan doesn't find the snitch!

Snitch catch DC is 29
Evelynn/Anastasia try to catch the snitch: 1d20+11+2=14

Evelynn/Anastasia don't catch the snitch!

A game of above-average length seemed to want to continue on. Dan Palmer, a seeker who up until that point had a pretty good track record, still couldn't even spot the snitch. Either he needed glasses, the snitch liked sitting behind his head, or there were some very bored luck gods somewhere up high. Not all hope was lost, however, as try as she might, Evelynn just couldn't seem to get her fingers wrapped around the little golden ball.

Ana felt mildly guilty about how focused on winning she was when she felt how shaky the girl behind her was. It was cold, but given that Evelynn was clinging to her for dear life, Ana could feel her shaking like a leaf probably a bit more than was fully explained by the chill. Getting hit by one bludger or blatch was disorentiing, Ana could imagine taking so many attacks in such a short space of time. Still, they had a game to win.

The pair remained motionless for a few seconds as Ana waited for a direction. It wouldn't do either of them any good for Ana to launch one way and then have to go the other. The Chaser's dark eyes darted about as she turned her head slightly to see how her passenger was doing. A motion of the hand pointing at the elusive golden target and Ana practically flattened herself on her broom as she set off towards it.

As the pair wove through the air, Ana caught sight of not one but two bludgers flying towards them. In an act that went against every fiber of her distrustful nature, she left it up to her teammates and accelerated even more. The sounds of impact told her someone was hit, but she didn't yet know who.

It was fortunate that her focus was completely on the occupants of her own broom and their goal since had that not been the case, she would have noticed the attack speeding towards her seconds too late. In yet another rather precise bit of flying, Ana adjusted her course ever so slightly, and the Headliner Editor in Chief went whizzing past. As she continued forward, a quick glance about the pitch informed her that Rafa and DeRook now shared a broom, most likely the result of the sounds she had earlier ignored. As she continued her flight, a nagging concern sprung up that Rafa had been the one defending her and Evelynn and she had ignored it. She was able to assuage it slightly as a squint through the rain gave her at least the hope that he had been the one to catch Kyle, based on the placement of the two Gryffindors as well as the fact that it looked like they were on Rafa's broom rather than Kyle's. With her focus redoubled, she continued after the Snitch.

While Ana condoned some forms of cheating, specifically blatching, catching the Snitch herself didn't even cross her mind. She had a job to do and she was going to continue kicking ass at said job, in turn allowing her teammates to kick ass at their respective jobs. Despite Ana's efforts, the Snitch seemed to be enjoying its freedom and not in any mind to allow itself to be caught. Ana's focus was solely on her flying and keeping herself and Evelynn in the air, so whatever caused this attempt at capturing the ball to come up short would remain a mystery to her.

Long story short, I survived

Fall Games Quidditch: Gryffindor v Slytherin
Erin had the two of them in her sights - @Anastasia Beckett and @Evelynn Decipio. Two for one deal so to say. They would be easy to eliminate, a single bludger between them and they would meet the pitch. When she saw the bludger zip her direction, she took aim with her bat. Slytherin would finally get the lead they deserved, up until this moment they had dedicated themselves wholly to their Seeker. A mistake she thought as the field was thinning as some of the brooms were occupied with two players on Team Gryffindor.

A mighty crack, her bat hit the iron ball. Her aim was true and she looked on expecting the two of them to go down. That her single shot would turn the tides of this match, then @Kyle DeRook would dart in the way. "Dammit Rook!" She cried and then cringed, the iron hit him hard in the side (or wherever he roleplays it hitting). Erin was strong enough to one shot almost everyone on the team, Kyle was not an exception. He would be rocked. his grip lost, he would fall from his broom and plummet towards the ground. Thankfully Erin does not write her own moves because she would have caught him. Also, her move was already done. She would just have to live with the guilt. Well, 'guilt' was a strong word, 'regret' was more fitting the truth be told.

A wave of relief would wash over her as one of the team pretty-boys would swoop in just in time and prevent Kyle from going splat on the grass. The opposing team was now limited: six Quidditch players on three brooms. Their action economy was severely limited, they were in a tight spot but they had a good chance to win this game. @Dan Palmer was still looking for the snitch whereas Eve had a golden glint in her eye from early on. It was pretty obvious that they were going to protect their Seeker yet again, but they were running out of brooms. If Eve was taken out again, there were only two that could catch her. Their rings were unguarded. They could risk it all and simply protect their Seeker, banking on this being the play that she gets the snitch. If not, there is a chance that Slytherin will easily score thirty more points. Soon, even with the snitch Slytherin will win the game.

This was one of those moment where Gyrffindor was going to have to consider luck against playing it safe and if 'safety' was an option any longer. "Don't get in my way again Rook!" She warned, they were the only blockers left. They were either going to try to take her out (the preferred option in her opinion) or they were going to get in the way of her next bludger. She was at the moment a crisis for them and she knew it, she was also using it. Erin was a threat to the team, with @Rafael D'Spacito and Kyle united on a single broom, this was their best chance to take her down. An attractive option for the long-game, otherwise she would take them down one by one until none remained. However, they were also Eve's greatest defenders. The front lines.

Fall Games Quidditch: Gryffindor v Slytherin
This game was going on for a long time, and his return to Quidditch was not the triumphant affair he was hoping for. Second string brought in upon losing someone else, and since his joining the game he had yet to really do anything other than almost get hit a couple of times. He needed to do something, anything. He was letting his team down.

then, he saw his chance. His attention was caught by a certain girl on the other team and he saw her winding up for another devastating attack towards one of his team mates. Going on the offensive was important for Beaters, but being able to defend your team was just as important. So, it was time to change tactics. He zoomed over as quickly as he good, pulling back his bat in an effort to catch the metal ball @Erin Ryan sent flying towards his teammate, but it moved faster than he exptected. Mid windup the bludger knocked him hard in his ribs, knocking the wind out of his lungs and sending him toppling off of his beloved broom.

as he tumbled through the air he was expecting the familiar feel of crashing into the grass, but to his surprise he was caught by the new captain of the team. With a Grimace he grabbed his ribs and tightened his grip on his bat with the other hand. He looked for Erin again before calling out"Can't Get rid of me that easy!" between his tone, and his determined grin it was probably clear no hard feelings were felt on the hit

speaking quieter now, as he attempted to get properly seated on the broom he spoke to his pilot "whats the plan?"

Okay, okay! This was actually really fun! Alan seemed to be a nice enough guy, and despite himself, Piérre tightened his grip around the Chaser's midriff, soaking in as much of his fellow's warmth as he could. There was only so much a thin uniform and a Keeper's heavy armor could do to keep out the rain and cold, and even with his boundless energy, Piérre had to realize when he was beaten. At this point, it was just going with the flow, admiring the ride from upon the quicksilver broom that his upperclassman possessed. It certainly handled well, but there was a flightiness that Piérre rather missed that he had found in Luciana. This broom didn't really have the same... sentience? Was that a good word for it?

The first Quaffle he and Alan were late for, falling into the hands of the deathly pale girl who emanated a cruel, chilly aura. One score later, and Piérre pinched Alan lightly. "Readyreadyready?" He whispered excitedly bouncing slightly. The second the scarlet ball was hoisted into the air, Piérre's green eyes widened, glittering and prepared to strike like lightning. "GO! Get it, get it, get it!"

In a heartbeat, the Quaffle was theirs, and with quick score, for Koko was nowhere near the hoops, Piérre was jiving and singing a jovial tune. Score score score! "Let's get another one, Alan! Never satisfied!"

This time, when the ball bounced between hands, Piérre was the one who clasped the ball close to his chest. "Got it! Go Alan!"

Passing the hoops, Piérre casually tossed it in, imagining a basketball doing the same thing on a ring. Swoosh! EZ.

What a great team they were! And how was Eevee doing? So close, and yet so far away! Just a little longer, one or two more seconds, and this could be all over!

Scarlett had no idea to what was really going on, but she could grasp that they weren't winning. Gryffindor seemed to be defending their players more, which was good, but since Scarlett was meant to be following the team's strategy, she didn't really do anything much this round. The Gryffindors had noticed that Slytherin was taking the lead with the points so far. Nico had been used to the last few rounds where things were for her, basicly, free for all. Scoring points left and right. The return of the red Chasers pulled her out of that mindset. After she had scored again, keeping the victory in sight for the snakes, the duo of lions got the Quaffle from out of her pale fingered reach.

Frick.

Keep your head in the game, Nico. Things wouldn't come that easy. Don't let them get to you.

Lovely Creature

Effect: You are very distracting to look at. This increases the Control DC of spells in duels and adventures by +2 as well as the DC for finding things in adventures or the DC for finding the snitch in a game of Quidditch. This ability does not stack.

Unsetteling Aura

A Dhampir's Unsettling Aura becomes noticeable. This is created by their presence. It is that uncanny feeling one gets where the small hairs on the back of their neck stand on end and the flesh on their arms turn to gooseflesh. It is as if the room itself was turned down by several degrees and one's heart was filled with a foreboding sense.

Effect: This represented as a 10% auto-fail rate for anyone besides the Dhampir (or other Dhampirs) to perform an action or cast a spell. Unfortunately, this prevents a dhampir from being hidden (entering stealth) when in use. As such any attempts to be hidden in a topic while this is on would automatically fail. However, a dhampir can turn off their aura at the cost of an action (unlike those that have the ability terrible presence) and as an action turn back on their aura. This ability does not stack in intensity when multiple Dhampirs have it activated.
Broom : Tinderblast

In the role of Chaser, as a free action if the user of this broom is successful in the quafflegrab they can as a free action pass the Quaffle to another user in an attempt to score. There is a chance of the quaffle being intercepted, however due to the fact that the user is "so fast" with the quaffle this would be considered "surprising" and the attempt to score would be done at +3 accuracy by the player it was passed to in an attempt to score.

Note: The attempt to score would be an automatic attempt by the user that catches the passed quaffle.

You're gonna need a bigger boat

Both keepers had left their posts now, an observation quickly made and taken advantage of by both houses. The good news? Nico still had no problem sinking the Quaffle through the hoops, pulling Slytherin's score up to 80. The bad news? Well, the same could be said for a scarlet-clad duo, who began closing the gap in points with two scores for Gryffindor. Biting her bottom lip, Thora lifted a now-sopping sleeve to her even-wetter face, smearing rain across icy cheeks. Slytherin was clearly leading, but the fact that Dan hadn't seemed to be able to locate the Snitch yet - well, he wasn't in hot pursuit, at any rate - and that Gryffindor could potentially catch up in points with Koko away from the goals was a bit concerning.

A Gryffindor beater was set on defending Evelynn, an admittedly smart move given the number of attacks which came flying at the seeker. Of course, there were the blatches - though it was technically considered a foul, Thora was almost certain blatching no longer triggered any surprise in the players or audience. Every team had done it at one point or another, even though whether or not they'd admit it was a different story. It was a risky move, a fact tried and true as three Slytherins attempted to blatch, coming away with nothing but a penalty lap. Three penalty laps. Things were slipping for the Slytherins, no doubt, but Thora tried to stay optimistic.

After all, the battle was still far from over.

A million possibilities had surged through Koko's mind, but after she realised she needed to act immediately, she went with her instinct. Kyle had never been her favourite person, so she felt herself steering her broom towards him before she even noticed what she was doing.

She was Koko - she wasn't the type to go on the offensive. She was a Keeper. She was meant to guard, meant to defend - not meant to do this!

Despite her internal conflict, though, Koko found she couldn't turn away from the Kyle/Rafael duo any less than she could halt her path. She wanted the terrifying Beater and cheating Chaser out - and yes, she was a hypocrite, but what did it matter? She was doing something for her team, and as far as she knew, the others were doing similar things as well.

Reaching out, she readied herself to push Kyle or Rafael off the broom - maybe both, if she were lucky - but her hands met only raindrops. She blinked, partially to get the water out of her eyes and partially in disbelief. What?

No, no, no... She'd messed up! And... now she had to do a penalty lap! The goals would be... No. Koko wouldn't let herself think about that. Grumbling under her breath, Koko swerved to begin her penalty lap, her lips curved into a bitter sneer.
