A waist-high stack of books to her right and a slightly higher one to her right, Cel was curled up in a chair, reading her umpteenth book of the day. She knew she'd probably be late for her next class if she kept reading, but then again, when was the girl ever on time?
Right now, she was re-reading one of her favorites: The series A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. The story was hooking, if a little morbid, but it kept her wide-eyed throughout the plot.
Cel wondered how Hogwarts had gotten such recent books without muggles noticing the possibility of magic, but soon concluded that it was, well, just magic. After all, it was called the school of "Witchcraft and Wizardry," and that witchcraft and wizardry could achieve a whole lot, if magic had been kept hidden for so long.
In any case, the book had elements of magic in it too-- very different from what was seen at Hogwarts, but amazing nonetheless. She withdrew her mind from the story for a couple of seconds to peer at the stack of books.
Oh, shoot. Cel was going to have to re-shelf all of those before she left the library. Well... better enjoy the moment now.
To be honest, she was just wishing for someone to talk to, but every time she approached a stranger, her mind seemed to make up reasons not to talk to them, and she would walk away.

There were plenty of books in the Hogwarts library. Invisible books, books that bit you if you didn't stroke the spine, and books about many ways to to curse your enemies. There was an almost infinite amount of books in the Hogwarts Library, but yet there weren't any of the books Eris had read at home. None of the muggle fantasy books that took Eris into a whole different world. At least, she hadn't found any of those books yet. She had gone to the library to search for a book or two about charms, as she really didn't understand her charms homework in the slightest, but Eris had ended up wandering around fruitlessly in the library, searching for a book that reminded her of home.

She hadn't expected to find one of her beloved muggle books, but had still continued the search anyways. Her search ended with a flourish, as she stepped into a part of the library condensed with tables and other students. Drained of energy, after walking around the library for such a long time, the little-head head started to take a seat at a table overlooking the window. Eris searched the library tables around her, wondering if there was a book lying on an empty table that she could read. One girl with black hair and ravenclaw robes caught Eris's eye.

She was sitting alone at a table pilled with books, reading A court of Thorns and Roses? Eris took a double take, looking at the familiar red title with black thorns. Some other person with a love of muggle books? Feeling a rush of impulsivity and excitement, Eris pushed up from her chair with a large screeching noise. Quickly, not giving herself enough time to doubt herself, Eris walked up to the girl and slid down into the extra seat at the ravenclaw girl's table. The book was one of Eris's favourites. There were cooties in it, but it was okay because they were adults. All adults had cooties. It wasn't dangerous to adults, just kids. Plus, the characters in the book were amazing, and even if they had cooties, they were really cool.

"I looove the book you're reading." Eris said as a way of greeting, staring at the other girl with a shy smile. Oh god, hopefully the other girl liked the book as much as Eris did. Or else this would be awkward.

Cel blinked, her mind buried so deeply inside the book that she hadn't realized the short girl making her way towards herself and hadn't recognized that the words were directed at her until five seconds after they had been spoken. What was it she had said? ...Oh, right. Perhaps this was another candidate to become a friend. Not that she could really judge, anyway.

That redhead... she was the Gryffindor prefect, wasn't she? Cel had seen her walking around in the corridors and just generally around the castle. But what was her name...? It started with an E, she knew, but what was it? Oh, right. Eris. And the other one is Siege.

"Really?" she responded, noticing that a long enough number of seconds had passed for the situation to seem rather awkward. How strange, that another in Hogwarts found books from the muggle world interesting! "Most people haven't ever even heard of the series, but it's an amazing book!" She was... surprised. Something that didn't happen much, but it wasn't a bad thing. And... perhaps she could drop her mask, just for a couple of hours? Just for today. Cel was pretty sure that was one thing keeping her from, well, friendship, and she didn't want to let this chance slip away: a chance without having to approach and make the first move.

"Of course! I wouldn't of told you I liked the book if i didn't actually like!" Eris responded, dismissing the girl's awkwardness with a laugh. Everyone in Hogwarts was awkward and shy. Eris was starting to believe that being awkward was a wizarding trait at this point. But on the topic of A Court of Thorns and Roses, the book was a bit over the 11 year old girl's head. She didn't understand some of the things in the book, but did like the fantasy world it was based in, and the insuring chaos in the medieval society. The romance was really gross, but it was worth it for the magic, warrior, elf-like entries known as the High-Fae.

Most of Eris's friendships at the castle so far had been based on mutual awe for the magical world, or some odd experience or two. Or three in the case of some of the people she had met on the Hogwarts Express. It would be nice to have a friendship based on a mutual love of books. Smiling at the other girl, Eris chimed in her agreement with the ravenclaw's comment. "It is an amazing series, and it's so underrated. Who's your favourite character?" She kept talking, not even pausing to breath, "My names Eris by the way." It occured to Eris that she didn't even know the other girl's name, and had already invited herself to her table. Smile turning more sheepish, Eris waited for the other girl to reply to her question with an answer to who was her favourite character and hopefully an introduction of her own.

"Oh! I'm Celynne Flores, from Ravenclaw," she smiled. "You're the Gryffindor prefect, right?" Eris. Right, that was her name. Not a common one, but then, her own name wasn't the most common either-- well, its spelling wasn't, anyway. Whenever she'd introduce herself through writing, when people met her face to face afterwards, they would always pronounce it wrong. Or vice versa, anyway. "You can call me Cel," she added, trying to avoid the situation as occasions of it reeled through her mind.

Upon hearing the question, Cel's grin fell, only to return in a laugh. "Mine? Oh, please. Don't make me decide! I'm divided between Amren, Nesta, and Rhys." They all seemed so... out of place, yet they just fit themselves into the world somehow, like tiny pieces missing from a puzzle getting slid into place. And their reasons for being oddballs were unique as well, but they managed to find joy in the macabre world they lived in. They were just so... different.

Same as me, it seems, she chuckled to herself in her mind. Books had always been her escape: She would read and reason to herself that if the characters of such stories could find joy, then so would she, because regardless of what happened, their world would always be worse than hers. And she'd always felt out of place, not as if she were supposed to be like everyone else, but perhaps that there was somewhere else she was meant to be, where others might be equally as confused as she was.

"Who's yours?" the girl asked curiously, nibbling on the edge of a celery stick. She was aware that she wasn't supposed to eat in the library, but Cel would never leave any of the trace behind.

Hmm... probably shouldn't have shown that in front of a prefect. Oh well.

Celynne Flores. Eris had no idea who she was and how to say her name, but the girl had asked a question about Eris being a prefect. "Yes, I'm the Gryffindor prefect." Eris was so grateful when Celynne added that she could call her Cel. At least then, Eris wouldn't have to attempt to say the girl's name out loud and butcher it completely. Feeling relieved at her small burst of luck, Eris's shy smile only grew to cover her whole face.

Eris had to agree with Cel's favorite character list. All of the characters in the book were amazing, although.." I love Rhys and Mor. Amren sort of scares me. I love Feyre, Elain, and Nesta the most." She loved the idea of sisters that were so different, and spend so long apart. Eris loved that in the end the three sisters came together, after years of neglect. She hoped that in the end, her and Belladonna would have a story like that. Of course, there was only two of them. Still though, Eris often felt like Belladonna was a Nesta-like figure in her life, while Eris was Feyre. The thought was a nerdy one, which Eris didn't really want to admit out loud, so when she started to speak the first thing she said was off the topic of books.

"Are you eating celery in the library?" Something about that was enough to make Eris giggle. "Cel eating celery . That's a tongue twister in it's self."

"Amren scares you? That's the best part about her," Cel chuckled. Truthfully, she just liked that Amren was so... strange. Scary, but she owned the scariness. If that was a word. "Lucien is pretty cool too, though there are points in A Court of Wings and Ruin in which I feel really sorry for him getting rejected by Elain. But Elain becoming a seer was the best plot twist ever." Oh, dear. She was going to start gushing. ...Well, Eris didn't seem to mind, so why not? It wasn't every day she met a fellow book nerd, especially one who was not in Ravenclaw, and even when they were in Ravenclaw, they usually hadn't even glanced at any muggle books.

As the short redhead commented on her name, Cel grinned sheepishly. "Uh... yeah, I swear I won't drop any. Hopefully the librarian won't notice." After a pause, she added, "Do you want one? I dip them in melted dark chocolate, and they taste really good." Though it wasn't exactly conventional to dip celery sticks in chocolate, the mildness of the vegetable seemed to augment the chocolate's unique taste. "Cel, Celery," she giggled, testing out the words side by side to her ear. "Maybe you should call me Celery instead. Easier to pronounce, not to mention remember!"
