It was early in the morning when the Gryffindor had woken up, barely past six and by the time he had showered and gotten ready a clock in his common room would show just turned past seven and that meant that the curfew was officially lifted. He still wished for the previous curfew to return, when he had been able to go out at six when most of the castle still slept. With his broom in his grasp he would sneak around the castle, the corridors only lit by the few torches along the passages. As soon as he had left his common room the boy would murmur a quick Lumos so that he could see his surroundings a bit better. He had to catch a little bit of flying training so he had been planning to race around the pitch a little bit. And possibly he could run a couple of laps on foot as it had been a while since he had really time to jog ever since he had started with Quidditch and he kinda missed it, even though he had grown to really enjoy flying. He would not get all too far however as he passed by the great hall and made his way towards the castle doors.

Quidditch generally had been changing a lot of his routine. It had been a lot to get used to but he kind of enjoyed it in a way. He was still unsure whether he enjoyed the sport that much but he certainly enjoyed the feeling of being part of something bigger. The feeling to be part of a team and helping his team to victory or at least it would be victory if they did well enough. This was not always easy as he believed but it was alright. Losing was part of it, because always winning would make victory feel less special and earned in a way. He chuckled slightly to himself as he walked through the sleeping castle.

"Mister Vanes."

The Irish voice would echo through the abandoned hallway, escaping with a gentle breeze gushing from an open window. A figure in the shadow would slowly close and lock it before emerging in front of him, as he stepped into the light. He wore his typical brown suit and his easily recognisable blond hair was combed backwards, still wet from a morning shower. A playful smirk would be plastered to his face as his bright blue eyes inspected the young Gryffindor from head to toe. "Out so soon again?" The professor posed his question as he moved over to the door, resting his hand on an iron latch.

His smile left the reaches of his face for a few seconds as he stared down to Alan. "You are aware that there's danger outside these halls, right? Mister Vanes?" A gentle smile formed on his lips, there was only good intent in the father of badgers. While lions may not be his direct jurisdiction or responsibility, he was sure to pass on the sentiment that he cared what the boy was up to. For his own sake. For now, the passage was blocked. Caradoc lingered to strike a conversation. The doors had not yet been opened.

The fourth year's head would snap into the direction of the professors, eyes wide and his body was frozen in startled shock for a moment, before relaxing once he took in the familiar face. The breath he wasn't aware he had been holding would escape him as he tried to straighten his back and look confidence. But the way his hand clasped around the Silver Arrows broom stick would betray his attempt to seem calm and collected; the lashes that framed his eyes had flashed in a bright blue and his canines and nails had sharpened to fangs and claws, ready to defend himself or at least look like he could. He felt a little silly with how jumpy he had reacted and covered his mouth in an attempt to hide his mess up. "Sir?", his voice would sound a little muffled until he finally wished his look away.

"I thought the danger was taken care off? The curfew is over too," he asked with nervous curiosity. He had even checked the clock in their common room to make sure he would not be breaking any rules. "What dangers are you talking about, Mister Browne?", he would ask the man just to be sure.

The Head of House's stare extended towards the boy before fading past his shoulders and lingering down the hall. "Nothing we won't handle... in time." Caradoc's eyes fell upon the broom. "Out for a spin? I believe I've seen you pass a few more times come morning." He didn't really need an answer. It was already given. There was body language at work here. The boy frightened by the unexpected confrontation. Yet Doc's own worries cast a shadow over all of Hogwarts. The dangers posed against Hogwarts was nothing to be toyed with. And still, there was nothing to tell the boy about it. Did he feel he would be lying to the kid? Was there guilt involved in a matter of pure principle and precaution.

Caradoc tugged the iron handle and pulled the door open. The morning light hit his bright blue eyes and golden hair. A faint breeze caressed Doc's cheek, as if it were pleased to enter. The Hufflepuff smiled in response. "It's a beautiful morning, Mr. Vanes." He turned his head back to the boy. "Best hurry up to enjoy it a little longer." The Head of Hufflepuff winked as his hand rose to pat the lion on his shoulder. "Keep an eye out for me, will you?" His voice spoke in a lowered tone. Without explaining anything more, the badger nodded and picked up a pace. Seemingly heading for the great hall, likely to fetch himself some breakfast.

"I like to practice in the morning, its energizing and refreshing," he responded basically affirming the head of house's thoughts. Alan however was still confused and somewhat would like a few answers. "Sir, what has been going on at this school? What am I supposed to keep an eye out for? What dangers are there," he would wonder, asking a string of questions that were plaguing his mind. Alan had been somewhat wondering about all that for a while, it couldn't be that the students were left in the shadows right? There were obviously bigger issues at hand, if a professor would stop him on his way to a normal morning practice. Was it not safe? He was really hoping that he would get some sort of answers but so far not much had reached the students ears. Alan understood that it was probably to keep the students safe from investigating themselves or possibly because the professors didn't even have all the answers yet but Alan knew that there were students who were looking for answers anyway. Not giving any information was also posing a danger because many students would be careless since they weren't as aware of any dangers. This was especially risky for younger students. So Alan stood there, hoping that Professor Browne would have some sort of response to his questions.
