Backdated to before she left to The Hunt
From the moment he began speaking, Cassie Heather was certain that he was about to open up in a way he never had before - not to her, at least. Interesting. She also noticed that he was speaking in French; another thing to note. Although Cassie didn't speak Russian, which she guessed was Charles' native language, being from Durmstrang, she had noticed that he tended to speak French more than English when he was trying to talk quickly - just as she did, only the other way round. Was Charles nervous about what he was saying, or just being nice and trying to be quick as she had previously asked?

She listened carefully to his speech, and then he paused, giving the girl a chance to speak. Cassie spoke in French too. "Charlie, I'd never want you to be anything but yourself," the muggleborn said earnestly. She never pretended to be something or someone she was not, so she never expected others to. In fact, she didn't like it when people did; it made them far harder to properly know if there was a side of themselves that they were hiding. "And I wouldn't ever ignore or forget about you." Unless, of course, your name is Scarlett Aden and I think you've been a muggle for two years, so I have to force myself to ignore you 'for your own safety'. But that was all sorted out now. "Plus," she continued with a tiny laugh, "I already know you're an idiot, and I'm still here, aren't I?" Cassie gestured around them. "But you're not a failure, okay? Don't think that."

When Charles continued, it was in a low voice which instantly made Cassie curious. Stuff happened? What did he mean by- But then Cassie mentally shook her head, telling herself off for being nosy. It was a little ironic that Cassie didn't like people being nosy but had a tendency for it herself. Charles then took off his own, literal, mask, and continued.

Ok, now Cassie Heather was confused. Why did he keep apologising? Did he set someone on fire or something? He seemed to be hearing up to admit some sort of crime - but that was probably just Cassie being Cassie. She didn't think he was about to tell her something which wouldn't make her want to be friends with him any more.
And then Charles said I love you, and Cassie nearly gaped. "What the- Charlie!-" she spluttered, but Charles hadn't finished. More in a friend or sister way. "Oh, thank God," Cassie said with a relieved sigh, before letting Charles carry on. Anyone who knew Cassie would know that those two words meant a lot to her. As a Catholic, she only used the phrase thank God if she really was thanking God for something - and she was definitely thanking Him for this. For a moment, she'd thought Charles thought he had some kind of crush on her or something, and she was relieved to find out that wasn't the case. Not only would it have been high-end awkward, but Cassie knew that the reason Charles felt comfortable being himself around her was because they were friends. No-one was forcing anything, no-one was demanding anything, and Cassie seriously hated it when he went all formal, as he would have had to with other purebloods at fancy events.

"I... Thank you," Cassie said when Charles had finished. It meant a lot to her, and she was touched by the sudden onslaught of compliments. "Very much."

"Yeah, ok!" she said, then the two parted and Cassie made her way out of the door.

Time for another adventure.

It wasn't long before Kateri and Robyn made their way in arm and arm. The students truly had a fine eye for decorating to fit a theme, and she had a made a note to figure out who planned this to make sure to properly thank them. She had only been there a couple weeks and she really wanted to make a good impression. There was food and drinks, and a particularly intoxicating feeling of her favorite season spreading through the air and filling her with a light that took away the fear of attending something like this. Soon after they entered, Kateri leaned in and whispered something to Robyn. The already anxious again librarian gave her a tight smile and nodded, slowly unlinking their arms from each other. The area where her hand was resting already felt cold.

It was too late to walk out herself. She wanted to make an appearance, to show up for the students and the events they had worked so hard on. It wouldn't be fair to them to bail as soon as one tiny thing happened. It's not fair to her own growth within the school. Awkwardly she looked around for a moment, gazing on the table full of Tricky Treats. Her anxiety would not be able to take having to be embarrassed in front of an entire group of people, so she decided to hold off on it. Maybe she would sneak one to enjoy privately later.

This wasn't unlike how Robyn spent most of her childhood at Hogwarts, how she developed. It felt hilariously familiar. A wallflower on the edge of a ballroom, wanting to be involved but not too involved. Enough of a presence for a few people to remember her being there, but not enough for there to be attention on her. She had always been a people watcher, ever gazing like the owls on her cuff links. Eyes scanned the room, watching Pericles greet people, seeing students mingle and laugh as the tricky treats took effect. She couldn't help but stand up a little straighter when the Headmaster walked in. Everything seemed to be going well. As her eyes drifted she heard something drop, but she couldn't really see what was happening. Oh to be a student again, and redo everything. But now was a chance for some kind of story rewrite within the halls that raised her and made her, that gave her the freedom to isolate herself. How much longer would she do that to herself?

No matter, some situation caught her eye that involved pumpkin guts, some shouting, and a mention of a food fight. Robyn immediately jumped into a mode that was ready to jump in but she spotted Pericles addressing it first. Her eyes stayed pinned to the situation, while she was sure the prefect could handle himself she would be remiss to not keep an eye in case an adult was needed. Which didn't take long. After something happening between one boy and Peri's shirt, another boy approached out of nowhere and just took out the boy that was now heading to the ground. Pericles' arms were up in a weird... taming fashion. Before the boy's head could hit the ground she was on her way. It was currently a 4 v 1, students versus prefect and she wouldn't stand for that.

A gentle hand on Pericles' shoulder came first, a sign to gently lower his arms now that help was here. "Good evening to you all, although you all seem to have taken the mood of a carefully crafted event into your own hands. Mr. Dralt, mind informing me of what's going on?" With the flourish of the coat flowing out behind her with the swiftness of her movement, she moved to the one on the floor's side. While taking care of the boy, she listened carefully to the prefect. Drawing her wand she muttered "Episkey." To fix any broken nose situation or other related punch injuries. She helped him sit up, before standing back up. "Ah, the pumpkin smash is what I heard earlier." She nodded, looking over the motley crew of party interrupters. "Thank you for the report, Mr. Dralt."

Her kind eyes narrowed, "You are all here as guests of Hogwarts, remember. Privileges can be easily revoked and you all could come spend time with me in the library if you'd rather have some quiet cleaning time until it's time for you to return to your housing for the night." She tucked her wand back into her jacket and her hand brushed her hair back, agitated. "Tonight is for fun, but not anything that causes people harm. Emotional or physical. Certainly not anything that impedes on anyone's personal property, including shoving things in their clothes." Her eyes flickered to the boy that had been the one to shove a chocolate frog in Pericles' shirt. "Am I understood? If any of you feel the need for cool down time in the library, I will gladly oblige."

She idly smoothed out her coat, looking over to Pericles with a small smile of reassurance before her eyes swiveled back to the boys with an ice that belonged in the harshest of winters. "Names. Now." It was clear in her tone of voice that it wouldn't be an option to refuse, this wasn't a question. It was a demand.

Charles felt good after punching the Dumstrang boy and even through there were three of them against him and will probably beat his ass later, Charles still was glad he did what he did however some part of him felt guilty. Some part of him was remembering Cassie and her words, after telling Cassie the truth and letting his yourself out to her. He was touched as she almost gave concrete proof of their friendship and that even through they were different they were still friends. And yet Charles knew he shouldn't be starting fights and even started to change but here he was, back where he started, starting fights with Dumstrangs.

Charles noticed the blonde haired, chocolate covered prefect get in the middle of them. Almost holding back their scuffle and with a speech to go with it, Charles heard his words and almost agreed with them but again the boy was known for trouble at Dumstrang and would almost always get in fights with fellow students so this wasn't really uncharacteristic of him? Although he should just walk away? But something made him stay there, something unexplainable... Charles not bothering to speak in English, spoke in Russian again trying to push out his British natural as much as he could, " you fight as good as you broom race... or I should say play quidditch," Charles recognized the boy from the Dumstrang broom racing team actually two of them were on it however he didn't know their names still.

Charles then gave a half smile as he spoke in Russian again " maybe you should stick to what your good at? Or what you know at least, which is what again? Messing with toward enforcing the rules that you never bother to follow?" Granted he was probably getting more on their nerves but Charles didn't care at the moment, he was numb to the world.

" And you two, how brave you two are for hiding behind the quidditch quitter here? Maybe you two belong here actually since you both seem to hopeless for Dumstrang," Charles spoke in Russian with a taunting voice almost as he continued his taunts in Russian " three on one, you should win right? Then what are you afraid of? Afraid of losing to a British kid? Afraid of losing your pride... if you still got any." Charles shot over a half smile as he hid behind his mask before cracking his knuckles and saying again in Russian " so are we going to this or not?"

However Charles wasn't expecting a professor to walk over, he acted as he wasn't paying attention when in actuality he was. Charles folded his arms up as the professor gave her speech, fixed the Dumstrangs nose if he needed it, and got a report from the blonde haired prefect boy before rounding on him.and the other three.

Charles rolled his eyes a bit as she spoke, the typical things he heard before; revoking privileges, detention, guests, and everything else that everyone loved to remind the boy about when he got into trouble. Never stopped him then but this time something was different, someone was different. Charles thought of Cassie and remembered his changed, he wouldn't act like a child anymore, that part of him was gone, is gone.

However he couldn't just leave so he turned toward the three again and spoke in Russian " watch your backs, while there's authority here now it won't always be and I'll be there when it's not. Ready to finish what we started here, whenever you want to or not," Charles brushed past the prefect and shoving the Dumstrang boy he punched wiry his shoulder and was walking away.

"Names. Now." Charles stopped in his tracks and turned on his heels as he stepped a few feet back toward the situation as he contemplated in his head why professors at Hogwarts always result to names and detention. Charles folded his arms across his chest as he rolled his eyes before speaking English for the first time that entirely interaction except his english was perfect given he spoke the language at home, " names? Why would you need those?" Charles than shot a half smile as he spoke again in English " is that how Hogwarts students are so well behaved? Their afraid of being reported?"

After the arrival of a ghostly feline- with many excitable students in tow- a hefty portion of people departed from the Costume Party to join in on The Hunt. The room was relatively calm once more, save for several residual chocolate frogs still hopping about aimlessly. The (NPC) Third-Year Helper at the door was diligently removing the effects of Tricky Treats as asked, casting well and often. They reversed the effects of the Babbling Beverage on Andrew Lycan, and reversed Akari Kato's sudden hair-growth just after. There was a break in the loud pop of Wizard Crackers for the time being. An edge of ambiance was lost as the Weird Sisters album came to an end, but as Pericles was presently preoccupied with other hostly responsibilities, his Unnamed Helper saw to the task of playing something fresh. Soon Spellbound, an all-witch band, was rocking from the gramophone.

Keeping the young host from music duty was a kerfuffle in the pumpkin patch corner. Yefim, a Durmstrang lad, had smashed a student's pumpkin. When the prefect Pericles approached, the Smashing Pumpkins band grew, with Yefim's pals Mikhael and Valentin ready to back up their mischievous friend Tough Goon style. The host was trying to peacefully deescalate dialogue style, but hadn't taken into account the language barrier, nor the breadth of Yefim's craving for chaos. His warning about settling down or being barred from the event was answered with a chocolate frog down the doublet. Witnessing this, their schoolmate Charles Alluring approached, and abruptly applied assistance in the form of a fist to Yefim's face. The boy fell to the floor. Pericles leapt between them, trying to stave off Charles with a pointed wand while holding an open hand to Mikhael and Valentin. Before the prefect could by sandwiched by Durmstrang drama from both sides, the Hogwarts librarian herself, Robyn Finley, intervened. She lowered Peri's wand, applied healing to Yefim's busted schnozz with Episkey, and laid down a stern warning before asking for their names. With teacher intervention (and any merciful luck), it would be the last disruption to an attempted peaceful party.

Oh, who are we kidding. This is Hogwarts after all. "Peace" and "Parties" were near antonyms!
-This is a moderated event, please do not roll for yourself!

-Your character can pick up the Chocolate Frogs which Remi and Sylvain set loose :chocogrenouille:

-If your character tries a tricky treat, please note it as an action. I will be rolling to let you know how it effects them next mod post. The same goes for wizard crackers, which give gifts (one time- opening additional crackers will yield only candy).

-Tricky Treats contain small amounts of potion and will last for 3 moderation rounds (except Manegro) unless removed. You can move to the Hunt or Masquerade with these effects if you're into that sort of thing, or feel free to say "Pericles' third-year helper" (NPC) cast Reparifors on them to have it removed (just tag me).

-The Ballroom Masquerade and the Rehearsal Room Costume Party (you are here) are on the fourth floor of Hogwarts, so going between the two doesn't take much time, but if leaving/arriving mention it as an action.

-The next moderation post will come on the 19th.

Drew hadn't been expecting for the treats to be enchanted, but it was a wicked and cool twist to a normally boring dance. This was Hogwarts, after all. you couldn't just go to a dance at Hogwarts without being tricked and talking your face off about everything under the sun and yet nothing in particular. And so, Drew, Akari, and Jess, laughing at their states and with Drew rambling they had successfully made it over to the helper. Drew tensed every time Akari tripped over her mess of hair, ready to catch her if she fell, but she managed surprisingly well for someone in heels with very long and heavy hair.

Drew much rather preferred Akari with her shorter hair, instead of it stretching all the way to the floor. It was really straight when it was that long, which could have been pretty if it wasn't... brushing the floor. But Drew liked the little waves in her dark hair, and how natural they were. They were beautiful.

Akari then turned to him and asked him if he was ready to go, yanking him out of his thoughts. He nodded. "Yup. But if we're going to go to the masquerade, we're going to need-" Drew pulled his mask out of his back pocket, where he had stored it until they were ready to go to the fancier part of the ball. "To put our masks on."

Drew put his mask on, it fitting perfectly on his face period he secured it in place before turning to Akari. "Do you want help?" Akari was a very able girl, though Drew knew it would be hard to make it look good if you have longer hair like Akari. If she accepted, Drew would stand behind her and gingerly tie her mask onto her face, in a neat bow under her hair.

Then, masked up, and ready to go, Drew offered his elbow to Akari- they were each other's date to the ball after all- and set off toward the masquerade.

After Breana practically clawed her nails against the walls to get to the other party, she let out a sigh of relief as she saw lesser people compared to the Masquerade Ball. This might give her enough of a space to breathe... Hopefully. With her arms crossed, her entire body posture closed off, she sauntered over to the snack table, aka the Tricky Treats table. As she stared at the beautiful delicacies and refreshments in front of her, she realized how bare she looked without her cape. She hoped to find the bothersome juvenile that got her cape, and then probably throw in a few harmless (read: very harmful) spells their way.

For now, a drink. The little girl could use some, with the catastrophe that happened in the Masquerade Ball. Unfortunately for the Costume Party, it's not shy of that either. As Breana contemplated taking a swig of either pumpkin juice or butterbeer, her ears were itching as she heard a ruckus of a fight quickly being extinguished by a Hogwarts staff member. Was that the Potions Professor...? No, the Librarian. As Breana chose the butterbeer, she swirled the drink around within its cup, wondering how Hogwarts hasn't beefed up their security by now. Nevertheless, she was also reminded of the fight that was created in the Masquerade Ball. Might as well walk over there, hoping that the librarian can also settle down the fighting there.

As the freckled girl walked over to the source of the fighting, she saw a familiar face: Pericles. She couldn't help but pull a half-smile seeing the lad there. Even with the mask, she knew it was him from him being in the middle of the fight. He's probably there to be the mediator, which brought a sort of warm comfort to Breana as she saw him. It's unfortunate though, as Breana just saw him while he was fulfilling his prefect duties. Maybe she can sneak in a wave once the dust has cleared. She took a sip of her butterbeer, being a bit of a nosy Nelly as she watched from the sidelines as the librarian gave the boys a talking to.

Jumping off the dress of the convenient stranger, the Costume Party was a lot less crowded than the Masquerade. It would make it a lot harder to be subtle, but the pursuer did not have the brain capacity to worry about such things as obstacles. Really, only one thing mattered, and that was getting rid of its annoying doppelganger. Breana had evaded its clutches for long enough, always seeming to move at the right second or pull away right when she was exactly where it wanted her. What's the freaking deal, just stay put and accept your fate!

It still wanted to not get caught, however. Not now, at least. I mean, it and Breana basically looked like twins so it would definitely raise alarm bells if they were seen together. Not to mention it still wanted some more gear. There was an easy solution here somewhere. Time to pull her under the table and finish her off. Then, it could gather all the elements it wanted and start enjoying the party itself. Herself. Right, she was Breana. The annoying Ravenclaw in front of her was a sick copy. Disgusting. Lucky, there were places to hide nearby. She just hoped this copy's sounds of struggle were quiet.

Whether @Solomon Lear accepted Serena's hug or batted her away, she would say her piece about how she missed him and how good it was to see him simply as that was the truth. That was all there was to it. Around her, there appeared to be some raised voices. She honestly had no idea what was going on but this was Hogwarts. Raised voices, arguments and fights were just natural at this point. Did anyone even bother with dealing with them anymore? She sighed, wondering who was causing it this time.

Since she was not actually involved, she just continued to eat. Grabbing the first thing she could find, she just ate the food - munching on them as she observed the room, unsure of what she should really do. Was she meant to go stop the arguments? She was not exactly involved so that seemed like a ridiculous idea. Maybe she should go find some friends or someone she actually knew? That would probably be a much better idea.

But the part-goblin simply continued to drink her chai, munching on the food. Her observation skills were meant to be relatively good. At least, that was what people said when she had successfully caught the snitch a few times. Apparently being a good seeker made you good at spotting things but, in the mess of people everywhere, Serena was honestly just kind of lost. She looked around, hoping to spot something to do or someone to hang out with. She was pretty sure that she did not even know most of the people still in the room! Did they even go to Hogwarts? Maybe the majority of them were from other schools...? Man, she really ought to pay more attention... Focusing on the chaos around, she observed and tried to understand what was actually going on.

Akari threaded her fingers through her back to normal length hair as she waited for Drew to reply. "Ah right"
She murmured as she brought forth her mask. Her mouth opened in order to ask Drew to help secure it properly when he beat her to it.
She smiled at his gentlemanliness and then replied with a small nod, and handed him the lacey blue accessory.

She stayed still and her gaze was fixed on the floor as Drew moved behind her and carefully tied the mask. ”Thank you” She said gratefully and the smile still prominent as she turned her head and glanced back towards him after he had finished with the tying.

Now, the last thing that was left to do was to go to the other room. Akari assumed that Jess had heard her ask Drew about the move, but even if she hadn’t she would have seen them putting their masks on and put two and two together and realize what was happening.

”Alright Jess, we’re going to head on over to the Masquerade now, would you like to come?” Akari inquired with an expression of growing excitement. The more she mentioned it, the more she started to look forward to it.

Jess seemed to have something she wanted to say on the tip of her tongue, she even started to speak at one point but then quickly backtracked.
"I think I'm gonna hang around here for a bit more... if I switch I'll try to find you though!"
Jess eventually replied. Akari gave her best friend a warm smile and nodded while she spoke in response. ”Sounds good, I’ll see you later then okay?”.
Jess paused. She looked as if she possibly had something else she wanted to say, but once again was holding it back. It wasn't very noticeable, but one of Akari's brows raised ever so slightly, wondering what was going through Jess's head, but before she had the time to actually think about it she had responded.
"Just... stay safe, okay?"
“You too please... perhaps don't eat anymore of those” Akari gestured to the treats as she answered and had added the last part jokingly with a lighthearted chuckle. She then gave Jess a small wave and then turned and slipped her hand through Drew’s outstretched arm and walked over and out the door of the rehearsal room.

Having nearly keeled over in laughter from the onslaught of his chocolaty minions, Sylvain finally managed to regain control of his fabulous, wooly, cactus, body. Standing back upright, Sylvain looked over to @Remi Yao and wiped the tears of joy from his eyes so he could see his friend a little better. "Hold tight Remi, I promised Peri I'd keep an eye out for trouble. I'll get us some drinks real quick and be right back. You want anything?" Sure, he'd managed to cause a little ruckus of his own, but it was hardly as awful as smashing someone's beloved pumpkin carving or attempting to strangle a person.

To say that Syl wasn't tempted to shirk his likely already forgotten promise to Pericles so that he might try another tricky treat would have been a lie. For now he would show off his bountiful supply of strong-willed restraint and keep to his word. Syl had missed almost the entire fight between Yefim and the others, only coming to in time to watch Yefim's nose snap back into place after Robyn Episkey'ed it, but he was now watching the lecture Robyn was delivering to the Durmstank squad. Deciding that despite his growing comfort around the new librarian he should avoid her lecturing at all costs, as he knew what she could be like when cornered, Sylvain moved closer to the beverages to keep an eye on things from a better vantage point.

He would scan the crowd thoroughly for faces he recognized, keeping vigil while Peri and Robyn kept an eye on the more obvious troublemakers.
