Medea was starting to really enjoy herself at the party, chatting with the charming suited up boy. He presented himself as Caelan, but strangely enough, asked her to call him Nick. Was it a nickname? Maybe he didn’t like his actual name? She wasn’t sure, and she was for sure not going to ask.
He was quite nice to talk too, as the music, the food and drink, the ambient, it all made the situation look quite magical and fun… until it started to become definitely too magical, in all the wrong ways. As she was talking, she started to feel something strange… definitely strange. A pressure on her hair made her raise her hand, putting it on top of her head. Shocked, she looked at Nick. “Uh... Medea? I-I think something's up with yer hair.” Said the boy, looking at her with her eyes wide open. As Medea looked up, she saw her hair standing completely straight, so straight that they had pushed away her fake cat ears, that fell on the ground.
Automatically, she went down to grab them, and as she turned up to look at Nick… she saw something even stranger happening at him. His skin was starting to turn orange and… puffy. His face was becoming round and quite hilarious until…. His head became a pumpkin! The scene was so absurd that Medea almost dropped her ears again, looking at him with her mouth wide open. He had a pumpkin head! A pumpkin head!

"Wh-what's happen' tae me?" probably more to himself than to her. “Nick! Does it hurt? What is happening to us?” she cried to him. But as she started to look around, she noticed that many other people were… changing. What kind of party was that? “Do you think that it was something in the food? Maybe… maybe in a bit, it will go away you know? And then you’ll return back to normal!” she said, trying to sound reassuring.
“I think I don’t particularly mind my hair, if they stay up like this, I don’t have to brush them” she added, trying to sound funny.

The panic continued to seep into Nick as he couldn't feel the skin on his face. It was such a weird feeling, his senses weren't hindered, nor was it painful. It was just very apparent that his head wasn't a human's head anymore. Medea's voice brought him back to reality which was a relief. He tried to keep just looking at the girl, taking deep breaths and hyper-focusing. It was probably pretty uncomfortable for her, but Nick didn't quite realize the possibility of that at the moment.

Nick's facial expression couldn't externally be changed, it was stuck in a generic shocked Jack-o-Lantern position. If it could, though, he would have the same distressed look the girl in front of him did. "I mean, I had a Cauldron Cake, 'd guess that 'd have this effect with the Pumpkin Pastries." Nick said, knocking on his pumpkin head, "But 'd have to assume they were spiked. Damn, I went tae this specific party, so this stuff wouldn' happen." It would be quite amusing, if he wasn't still in a state of panic.

The potion finally started to wear off after the two of them kind of just panicked for a bit. He could start moving his head better as it shrunk, he could feel his mouth moving again, his eyes blinking, then his nose came back, and he could feel it twitching. Eventually, his face turned back to its original hue, and there was no trace of him being a pumpkin just as Medea's hair fell back down. "Well, that wis an... experience." Nick said as he was still re-familiarizing his face with the ability to move.

Nick went back down to pick his mask up, not having to worry about having a top-heavy pumpkin on his head. The mask's ribbon had broken, but that wasn't anything he would have to worry about. He went to reach for his wand in his sleeve but was stopped by seeing a ghostly apparition by the door of the Rehearsal Room. Upon closer observation, it appeared to be some sort of feline.

The feline was being tailed by a group of students, Nick spotting Cash, Henry, and Alina among them. The cat seemed to be bored with this party already and quickly moved out of the room, along with the band of kids behind him. He turned back to Medea, curiosity already getting the better of him despite it turning his head into a pumpkin tonight already. "There was just like a, uh, ghostly version o' yer animal counterpart," Nick said, trying to land a bad joke, "Seems like a lot o' kids are interested in it, wanna take a gander?" He waited for Medea's response and then walked out of the Rehearsal Room, Medea tagging along was up to her.

Angles plucked, Quinn's thought process is a syncopated sound, all soft syllables that sound like humming string-instruments--their Pumpkin mask slides up in bare-eyed wonder--and that same sound warms with a lop-sided smile. Defeat.

'Okay, okay. You win. You are kinda right, I do want to know.'

And they could always come back, right?

With the tacky Pumpkin mask grinning benignly from atop their hair, they greet the newcomer, the boy that just about came from nowhere; like someone washed ashore from a storm. 'Hi!' says Quinn brightly. It's half a wonder they've still the courage without the garish orange face to hide behind.

'You should come with us, Charles.' Us meaning Robert, Calista and them--poor Peri was in the midst of his duties. But come what may, you can be sure he'd hear a full recounting of their adventure later in the Ravenclaw common room. 'We're going to follow the cat.'

Spurred on by Roberts pep talk and a toe-bouncing eagerness to explore, they crow, 'Come on,' to encourage their friends, hemming into the Hunt's crowd with an enthused. 'Let's split!'

You can also be sure there's no shortage of questions as (or before) they tail after the phantasmal cat and students: 'Are you from one of the other schools Charles?' Quinn peppers in. 'Do you think the cat is a ghost or maybe a Patronus? I read patronuses are like ghosts--oh, maybe it's...'

Exit.

"Sure, sounds good."

Drew started talking, about nothing, really. Just talking. And talking. Still talking. His mouth was abandoning him! Since when had anyone had a chance to-

Oh, the butterbeer. It had been delicious, but now he was babbling about nothing. Akari's hair shooted out, growing at a rapid pace toward the floor, and, whether it was because of the charms put on them, or if she had one on herself, Jess burst out laughing. Drew pulled them over to where someone was waiting to take the charms off them. "Excuse me, hi, sorry to bother you, but I think something we each ate was enchanted and so could you maybe take off the charms please? I know you must be very talented in the ways of magic, I don't know why, you just look like it, and I can't seem to stop talking, so maybe the butterbeer I drank- Butterbeer is really good by the way, have you had any-"

He was cut off by Pericles' third-year helper, who casted Reparifors on him. Drew grinned. "Thanks, man." Akari's hair was still growing rapidly, and Jess was still laughing, which, unless this was just how Jess was, Drew was sure she had eaten something that had affected her like that.

@Jack Burnett @Ruka Burnett-Tân

Jake gave a small smile back at Jack when he got corrected that he wasn't Jack Burnett - not tonight - tonight he was Peter Pan. That was how it worked on Halloween...Candy was nice, but the most fun and best part of Halloween was getting to be somebody else, even if just for pretend. Like how Jack was Peter, and Ruka was Tinkerbell, and Jake had THOUGHT he was a frog but maybe he wasn't. Maybe he was a Lost Boy instead.

At home he had never really been lost, since his Mum and Dad had never let him out of their sight. At Hogwarts it was different - at Hogwarts he sometimes felt lost even when he wasn't. Here in a sea of people it was hard not to feel like that, even though he knew he had left his friends in the crowd. Some of his friends he still hadn't found. He was beginning to wish he had never wandered, or that he'd never come at all.

PeterJack ruffled his hair and told him something strange. He said that the better he knew him the more likely he was to torment him. Jake squinted. Why'd he say that for? He had never seen Jack torment anybody...The first time they'd met it was Jack who had been hiding from being tormented - when Jake had found the Slytherin boy's book fort and they had talked about bullies. That had been a really long time ago, but Jake would never forget it. But then the Slytherin's merry laughter let Jake know it was just a joke. He didn't really get it, but he was used to not getting what the other boys joked about. Most of the time he didn't.

When Jake admitted to Ruka that he felt scared, the Gryffindor reached out and placed a calming hand upon his head and told him he was brave. Jake slowly looked up into his eyes. Brave...? It was alright to be scared, Ruka said. It made him alert. That was how he felt now...how he had felt all night. Like danger could come at any minute. Like any second the laughter that filled the room would turn to screams. But those thoughts were driven away as Ruka reached forward. A small peal of a giggle sounded as Ruka poked the ticklish boy's ribs and said he'd tell Jake what happened when he was scared. 'What?' the small badger's eyes asked.

Ruka told him all about how his blood and oxygen pumped, how his adrenaline went up. That was probably why his heart was always beating so fast. Why he sometimes started shaking. But a superhero...? Jake blushed. He had never heard of a superhero that was afraid.

He didn't dare to believe, because he wanted to so badly. After all, Ruka was a bit of a hero too. Ruka was almost the same size as Jake but as brave as any big kid Jake had ever met. And he thought Jake was brave. How...?

With eyes still questioning, his hand was taken in Ruka's, and with the older boy's help, the small frog found himself pulled up onto something he couldn't see. Peter told a confused Jake that they'd be searching for happy thoughts. Then, without warning, he began to lift. Jake wobbled, clutching tight instinctively to the shaft. Jake knew the sensation of being on a broom from flying class, and suddenly realized how the mystery of Tinkerbell's flight was working. He was flying now too - sitting on thin air. The sensation of looking down and seeing yourself balancing on nothing at all was dizzying, and Jake felt a pit in his stomach.

I'm a superhero...I'm a superhero... Jake wiggled back until he felt Ruka safely behind him. Only when Ruka's arm wrapped around him to keep him steady did Jake's nerves settle as he kept an uneasy silence, still holding tight as Ruka cheerily suggested a spin around to make sure everything was ok. Jake nodded his head shakily.

Flying was scary but being trapped in a crowd of taller students towering over him, unable to find his friends was worse. He wasn't alone now, he was with Jack and Ruka. He'd be safe with them, and if there WAS any danger, maybe they'd see it from the air. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell never got afraid of danger, but Jake was. Maybe that was what Ruka was talking about...the superpower that Jake had. The same thing that kept Jake up at night. His friends down below weren't thinking about danger, they were just thinking about having a good time. But maybe they wouldn't see the danger in time.

Jake swallowed. From the air they could see it. They'd take a loop around the room - look for George and his friends - and make sure nothing was coming to get them. The boys moved slowly around the room, as Jake clung for his life, looking down tensely. What was down below looked like a messy party, but nothing dangerous. There were no mosps, no fire, no giants, and no pirates either.

Suddenly, Jake felt the broom turn towards the exit.

Now that Mik was there, there was nothing that could possibly stop the night from being amazing. Even if they got into trouble, or wound up in the hospital wing, it didn't matter. They would be having fun doing it. He could feel it in his stomach, or they way Niffler jumped on his back when he was jumping around, he had found his people, and they were right besides him. That sense of belonging is so rare and sometimes fleeting, but Yefim didn't consider that. He figured it was his godly presence, or fate. If he had any shred of insecurity, he might be wondering how long this tough guy act would last, and how he might be leading them both down an undesirable path. But he didn't.

Instead, his lips wrapped tightly around his teeth as the prefect approached. He might have looked like a hungry dog, anticipating the carnage he planned to unleash. He patiently waited for the nerdling to get through his spiel, even though he wasn't really paying any attention. He recognized the body language, it was someone telling them to stop being so rowdy, no doubt. No amount of logic or punishment was ever going to be enough. He would have had to point a wand at Mik's head and said 'drop the pumpkin guts or your pal here gets it', as he had sen in another movie. He didn't though, so he clearly had no idea who he was dealing with. None of these WartHogs understood the real threat he posed. Likely because he seemed to only ever lose the fights he was in, but even then he still managed to always make things worse!

Yefim briefly looked over to Niffler, his incredibly epic hair making him look like an anime badass. Both he and Mik were staring the guy down, trying to get him to back off with intimidation. A good idea, and not something the three of them lacked... technically. Niffler wasn't scary-looking in the slightest, but next to Yefim and Mik one might draw the conclusion that he was a wild card, and capable of destruction far beyond what his bird boned appearance might have suggested. Yefim considered doing the same, forming a front of stoic evilness that would make the Noid consider leaving them alone, but his mind wandered to something more entertaining.

Picking up one of the animated chocolate frogs passing by on their path of harmless destruction, Yefim figured he could help the non-sentient creature cause a lot more harm. Perhaps his pals would be a decent enough distraction as he yanked open the collar of the geek's costume and tossed the jumping confection inside. If it worked, they would finally get some dancing going!

Quinn [Smith]'s thinking got to Callista, and she felt herself hesitating, momentarily distracted from her wand. At Robert [Toukmond]'s words, she was kind of surprised, one because he wasn't laughing anymore, and two because he was convincing Quinn to go. Callista smiled. I've missed this, she thought. Not in a creepy way of course. His speech seemed to dispel any uncertainty in both Quinn and Callista.

Another boy joined them, and Callista was caught on his blue eyes. Those eyes... They looked familiar for some reason. She kind of tuned out, so she startled when Robert said her name. "Er, hi," she said with an uncertain smile. Seeing as both of her companions had asked the new boy - Charles Alluring, he said? - if he was from Hogwarts, Callista saw no need to repeat the question.

Instead, she went with a weirder question. Classic. "Do you by any chance know Henry Knight? Henry, uh..." she trailed off as she remembered that she didn't know his name. "I'm sorry, I don't know his last name. Do you know anyone named Henry?" This is awkward.

"Ah, sorry, we're heading with the others. You're welcome to come as well," she offered. Callista smiled and went after Quinn and Robert, listening to Quinn's chatter with a smile. The previously hesitant Ravenclaw student seemed to have been completely energized by Robert's words.

It turns out for Charles the ghost cat yet again took his company away as he nodded to each of them, now that he knew their names and a lot more banana jokes from the boy in the banana costume known as Robert. Unfortunately he wouldn't be joining the group as he spoke " I don't think I would be joining you three but it was nice meeting you and I wish you luck on your adventure," before answering their next to questions, " I'm from Dumstrang and no I know no one with that name," a small lie since his cousin was Henry Knight but he only met the kid once and rather not bring it up.

Charles then wander off on his own again as he lean his head on a wall to watch the others. He envoy those with friends, something the boy didn't really have and thought didn't needed. Granted he was invited to that hunt thing a few times but decided against going since he probably wasn't that much help anyway, he wasn't that smart and riddles or puzzles wasn't his strong suit anyway. So he stayed at the party, the party where he didn't belong nor knew how to act.

Eventually Charles saw three boys, three somewhat familiar boy's that was. All three Charles recognized as Dumstrang and two of them he remembered seeing from the broom racing team, he rolled his eyes at the there's attempted of causing trouble. He never understood why Dumstrang was the place where all the unruly and troublemakers went not like he could talk since he was just like them except he chose to mess with fellow Dumstrangs more than anyway else.

Charles never seen the three except maybe in passing at Dumstrang but he didn't care as he watched a blonde haired boy who Charles figured was one of the Hogwarts prefects that his cousin; Colin told him about approach the three and try to prevent their mischief. Charles couldn't help a chuckle at his failure as one of them stuffed a chocolate frog down his costume and to Charles he thought it was a pretty good prank.

Although something else was brewing in the boy, something he didn't know of or what. He usually was all for pranks and messing with people but after talking to Cassie, after revealing his true self and throwing away his 'mask' something about the prank felt wrong to him. He felt sympathetic to the blonde haired boy and looked to see if he was going to fight back or anything. Charles glanced somewhere else at first and decided it wasn't his business and he won't get involved with it or anything but then that feeling came to him again. Guilt? Sympathy? Whatever it was, it was something that Charles couldn't avoid the situation as he tied his mask back around his face before approaching the fellow Dumstrangs and Hogwarts prefect.

Charles approached the boy whom stuffed the chocolate frog down the prefect costume, Yefim, as he threw his right hand clenched tight in a fist back before throwing it forward and sucker punching Yefim in the nose. Charles looked at the boy after as he spoke in Russian " if you want to mess with someone than mess with me," Charles puffed his chest out to the Dumstrang boy he just sucker punched before rounding on the other two and saying again in Russian" same goes for you two if you try anything," Charles looked the blonde haired boy over for a minute but didn't say anything to him as he turned his attention back to the real action of the night; the Dumstrangs.

Akari was so certain that something was about to happen to Jess that she hadn't thought for even a second that perhaps the butterbeer would also contain a little surprise.

Surprise was an understatement when Akari felt an extremely weird sensation coming from her head. She glanced around only to see what her hair was shooting out and growing at an extremely quick pace. A small gasp out of shock could be heard from the girl as she stared down at her hair that was already now sweeping the floor. A burst of laughter then snapped her out of her thoughts and she looked up to see Jess cracking up uncontrollably. She was slightly puzzled and watched her for a couple of moments before breaking into a small smile herself. What finally got her to give in and start actually laughing was when she heard Drew chattering on without stop. What a mess they had got themselves into. They had got into this only for innocently wanting to try some butterbeer! Nevertheless, Akari found it hilarious and the fact that Jess was continuously laughing uncontrollably made her want to laugh more.

While still giggling, Akari stumbled after Drew as he led the three of them over to an upperclassman. There were a couple close calls where Akari almost tripped from the unfortunate mixture of hair and her new shoes, but thankfully she managed.

"Could you possibly help me as well?" Akari asked right after Drew. As comical as having that her hair that length, she wanted her normal hair back. Once the elder student cast the spell to fix it, she watched it shrink back to normal and smiled as she looked back up. "Appreciate it, thank you".

Alright, now that the spell was no longer and her drink was finished, she decided that it was time to try and initiate the switch to the other room. She wasn't really sure what Jess was planning to do next and hoped that she would be okay with them changing, but she really wanted to go and check it out.
So, she then turned to look over at Drew and asked.
"Ready to go?"

Those silver eyes stared steadily at Yefim until a new figure swept between them.
"And who might you be?" Mikhael lumbered in dripping disdain as if Pericles was the party's disruption. The boy blinked up at him, arched eyebrows unseen beneath his bird-like mask. "If you're looking for a fight I'd be glad to provide that for you, but I'll have to ask you to leave my friends alone." The Durmstrang student slung icy tones while trying to display his size and strength. But as formidable as the older boy might be, his show of growling and swelling up like an angry animal didn't factor into Pericles' problems. He wasn't here to duke it out with temperamental visitors. He was here to keep peace, and by Merlin, he was desperate to establish a safe space for the students. One singular sanctuary in the history of Hogwarts balls. Although Mik's Terrible Presence washed over him, that stare beneath his mask remained stubbornly steely. He had faced true peril, in the forest, in the school, in his own home. He had literally one job to do, and wasn't about to be cowed by some boy in a mask.

"Oh, I'm not looking for a fight." Factual. Composed. Steady on, kid. "I'd prefer the opposite, really: I am the host of this room, so it's my task to keep it peaceful. I wouldn't have bothered your friend if he hadn't already disrupted and drove off one of my guests." Peri had made a point not to look directly at Bridget until she was out of pumpkin guts range, holding their attention as she slipped away from her aggressor. Naturally, the nice way wasn't working easily, and now the boys were bristling at the idea of a lad their age (no, younger) trying to enforce order against them. "If you're set on putting up a fight, we'll simply spend some time together in detention. I can promise you that is equally unappetizing to me as it probably is to you. Unlike your friend, I don't enjoy making others miserable, I enjoy getting along. D'you spose we can give that a try?" The twelve-year-old was doing a bang up job of saving face though the odds were stacked against him. Not only were they larger than him, but numbered three. It was hardly sporting, though he couldn't anticipate fairness from a gaggle of would-be party crashers. On seeing the silver-haired boy starting to swell as well, Pericles carefully considered the two goons vying to frighten him away, wondering aloud with a not so subtle suggestion of cowardice: "In fact, does he really require the both of you to talk with me, or do you think he couldn't manage a conversation on his own?"

The headmaster, in his silly old man antics, elected to ignore those trying to talk with him in favor of flinging a frog at the preoccupied prefect. It slapped into a feathery shoulder, did a fantastic flip in the air, leaving a streak of chocolate in its wake before flopping on the floor. Regrettably, Pericles had been hit with one leaping frog on his way over, and so assumed it to be nothing more than another edible amphibian clumsily jumping into him. Yet Yefim would make sure it was noticed. He grabbed it while Peri had a gab-off with Mik and was abruptly upon the pale boy. For a moment, when he was siezed, Peri's patience flickered in favor of something far less eloquent. He didn't like being manhandled on the best of days. Then he processed what was happening, and rather than fight or shove or shout, he simply allowed it. Yefim deposited the frog. Pericles stood still, frown sagging to one side as if this was tiresome yet inconsequential. The thing squirmed beneath the fabric as he locked attention on the prankster.

The matter-of-fact tone turned to something of an unamused drawl, trying to emphasize his contempt at the other's immaturity. "Maybe you don't get enough attention at home," Peri pried with a sly squint, "so you've decided to try and get it here. It's time for you to l-" The word stuck to his tongue. The sentance went unfinished. Pericles might not have allowed himself to be terrorized by the boys, yet at the sight of a fist sending one for the floor, his eyes snapped wide. He could only watch in horror as Yefim- seemingly in slow motion- fell to the floor. Peri's stomach fell with him. Oh, those tender hopes of enforcing a safe space, of being able to claim the achievement that he had prevented anyone from being punched at a Hogwarts function. Dashed, like Yefim's face, or the chocolate frog melting between his shirt and duelist's doublet. It was hubris to think that he could prevent it. Violence was evidently a staple of school life. His methodology of conflict resolution placed violence low on the list: a little psychological string pluck here and there might do just the trick, as well as not giving the boys the volatile reaction they so craved. Or maybe, with Durmstrang lads, that simply wasn't the case. Maybe Charles Alluring was onto something, and only brute strength would stop the hooligans. Still, the prefect had a difficult time feeling grateful.

"If you want to mess with someone then mess with me."
Pericles swiftly swung his wand down, dispelling the translucent umbrella, only to flick it up again. It was not pointed at the skull-masked loomer, or the silver-haired leerer, nor even the frog-weaponizer on the floor. Pericles' empty palm sprung up towards the trio as if to stave them away, though his wand was aimed at his attempted aid. That expression of dreary diligence was banished by an outright glower. It started at Charles then flicked between all four. As adrenaline sent his heart pitter-pattering, the Ravenclaw's mild voice became cold and cutting, sharpened by a spike of stress. "No one is messing with anyone. If you louts can retrieve your brains from your fists, we can settle this like students instead of trolls. Another twitch from any of you and I send for your professors. I'm sure they'll be tickled to hear how shamefully you've represented your school."
