I'm Pawsitive you're the One Pet Finished

The brisk and chilly air did not faze the little 11 year one bit. Absolutely nothing could change how happy Akari had felt for she was getting an actual pet. One that she could call her own and she could not believe it. Her parents had surprised her greatly by agreeing to her purchasing a pet so she had gone as soon as she could almost to make sure they couldn't change their minds.

She stood outside of the one and only Magical Menagerie and stared up at its sign for a couple of seconds with a bubbly smile before turning back and glancing up at her mother. "Go on, I'll wait out here" Her mother told her with a reassuring smile. Nodding and stepping forward Akari leaned into the door as she pushed it open then entered the shop. Her expression was quite similar to the one of a five year old in a candy shop as her eyes started to scan the quaint store. Wow, the bounty of animals that were chirping, squeaking and meowing. How ever was she going to choose from all the options?

"Hello dear may I help you?" A kind voice called out all of a sudden slightly startling Akari.
She stretched her neck out to the side so she could get a better look at the back of the store to see who had attempted to get her attention when she saw an older lady standing behind the counter with a big friendly smile.

"Good Afternoon Ma'am, I'd like to buy a pet please." Akari responded and as she approached the counter.
"Alrighty, let's see what I can do for you sweetie. Oh and do just call me Anita" The lady started to say.
"You can go and take a look around and if you find something just call me ok?". Akari nodded with a smile and then turned on her heel and went towards all the animals.

Akari went towards a few cages that seemed to have things scurrying around in them. She peered into them. In some she found rats and then toads, in others she found lizards and spiders. The vibrant colours of the pygmy puffs certainly caught her attention.
She inspected each and every one of the creatures carefully but since none of them were really catching her eye and there were still other animals to see...

So onwards.

Next she came to the owls. She had considered having an owl as a pet before so perhaps this would be where she would find a suitable companion. Her eyes curiously skimmed over all of them as she got closer. Once she was right next to one she stupidly stuck her figure out to one to try and touch it but it nipped her back and rightfully so. Who likes being poked at? All the other owls started squawking and hooting at her for disturbing their friend so she backed away awkwardly feeling bad she intruded into its space so rudely. Well, now she couldn't chose an owl for they all seemed to dislike her.

Then she stumbled upon the cats. Oh cats, such temperamental creatures. Some hissed a little bit at her or meowed like they were on repeat, while others slept soundly or just looked plain bored. The other slightly lower maintenance animals were still at the back of Akari's mind and she was about to turn back to get another look at them when she noticed a small grey cat huddled in a corner. Her eyes met its and then her brows furrowed slightly. She continued looking at it and it continued looking at her. Was she having a staring contest with a cat? How odd was that? You would think that a small cat like that would be shy and cower at others, but this little one seemed cool and collected and unbothered by her stares. Quite like herself, that cat seemed like it could not be judged by its size, and Akari liked that about it.

"Excuse me, Ms. Anita?"
"Yes? Have you found something?"
"I'm not sure... but can you tell me a bit about this grey cat over here?"
Anita nodded then came out from behind the counter and started walking over to the cage then once she got there she looked over to the small cat and then spoke up.
"Ah, him. Well, he is nearly 3 months old now and was the runt of his litter hence the reason he happens to be a bit on the smaller side. His temperament is rather calm but he can be a little standoff-ish at times. Would you like to get a closer look?"
Akari looked back at the little thing and then nodded. "Yes please". After given the okay Anita reached out and scooped the kitten up and gently placed it in Akari's arms. He squirmed a tiny bit at first but after only a few moments his eyes began to droop and he relaxed as Akari stroked his head gently. She thought that she might have even heard him purr.

"He seems to like you"
Akari smiled faintly. She knew this was the pet she wanted.
"You want him don't you?" Anita asked, probably noticing Akari's expression as she held the cat tightly.
Akari nodded and then looked up to the elder for instructions on what to do next.
"Come and we'll get you all sorted out" Anita said and walked back to the counter.

"He is 10 galleons, alright?"
Akari removed a hand from the kitten and reached into her pocket and pulled out a small pouch then emptied its contents onto the countertop and in front of the lady then counted it before saying "That should be exactly 10 galleons".
"Perfect. Thank you. Oh and here, take a cookie love" Anita replied then took out a delicate china plate filled with warm delicious looking cookies and offered them to her.
Akari gratefully took one and stuffed it in her mouth happily then once finished placed her hand back under her new companion.
"Do you have a name for him yet?" The lady inquired. Akari looked down at the kitten deep in thought for a few minutes then nodded and spoke up confidently "Kenji, his name will be Kenji"
"Awww such a sweet name. Take care of him okay?"
"Of course. Thank you so very much Ms. Anita! Goodbye!" She called out happily and after Anita waved back in response Akari turned and slowly trotted out of the shop back to her mother, ready to start her journey with Kenji.
