Flash couldn't help but feel a bit bad when his bitter words caused the younger boy to recoil and flush. It was a far cry from how he would have acted before, he used to be meticulous about how he came off to other people. He was slipping. Still, it somehow felt good, though he couldn't put his finger on why.

Henry wrote it off anyway, assuring him that no one cared about his writing. Good. Flash almost wanted to snipe back, say something catty and petty. He wasn't sure what had gotten into him, though it wasn't too different to how he acted when people interrupted his train of concentration.

"Sure." Flash responded to Henry's words about 'hanging out' further. He could barely restrain himself from saying 'I doubt it', but he managed.

To the first year, he cared even less what he thought. He almost felt sorry for him being sorted into Slytherin, it seemed they were always a target for tragedy and misfortune. Certainly even if he held onto his blissful ignorance for now, he would have to face the trials Hogwarts would dole out eventually.

"Looks like I ended up being the rude one. Forgive my bad mood." His words might have come off as cold, but he had only ever originally intended to get Henry to mind his manners and offer some advice.

If it had been a different day, or a different situation, perhaps he would have been his normal self. Well, who knew what was normal for him any more. Seeing as the two had dropped the subject of his writing and moved on, Flash was happy to go back to his own world.

Even through the boy felt like he was going to explode or at the least walk away, be hid these and his emotions as he put his needs second and the others first. Henry acknowledged Flash with a slight head nod and smile before turning to Michael and saying " Hogwarts a history is a good book, leaves some stuff out but overall a very good book," he was trying to be a peace maker and create small talk however Henry wasn't the best at it and had little practice so he was struggling to come up with something to say and was hoping that someone else would join them or maybe one of them would say something.

Luckily he heard Michael mention liking books in creatures and currently reading a book on werewolves,
subject that Henry knew a lot about being one himself information hidden from the other to, Henry nodded to Michael as he kept on a friendly smile before speaking himself " I love creature books to, I think I read that book on werewolves- uh lycanthropy," Henry came to a awkward pause, he washed ashamed of being a werewolf but he didn't like telling others whom he wasn't particularly close to either as he continued " it's nice to read a book on lycanthropy that isn't all wrong or biased for once, it's nice to see different points," another awkward pause this time he stop speaking in general as he ran a hand through his hand and lightly drummed his fingers on his legs to clear his leg and help with his anxiety

After Michael and Henry started talking about the books things seem to get calmer, well atleast to Michael. He like it now, the calm was so much easier to handle than all the other stuff.

"Sure." Flash responded to Henry's earlier statement about 'hanging out' together. "Looks like I ended up being the rude one. Forgive my bad mood." His words were apologetic but he seemed distant and cold, confusing Michael but not enough to comment on it.

Henry acknowledged Flash "sure" with a slight head nod and smile before looking to Michael and saying " Hogwarts a history is a good book, leaves some stuff out but overall a very good book," The boy seemed to pipe up after he heard Michael mention liking books about creatures and currently reading a book on werewolves. Maybe he liked creatures too? Michael hoped so considering that was his favorite subject.

Michael observant him quietly. Henry nodded to Michael as he kept on a friendly smile before speaking himself " I love creature books to, I think I read that book on werewolves- uh lycanthropy," Henry then took awkward pause, then he continued " it's nice to read a book on lycanthropy that isn't all wrong or biased for once, it's nice to see different points," another awkward pause this time he stop speaking in general as he ran a hand through his hand and lightly drummed his fingers on his legs to clear his mind from something, that made Michael feel bad for him.

Michael first addressed Flash, "It's fine, seems slytherins have horrible communication skills to go with our ambitions." He tried to joke. He felt stupid right after he said it so he quickly tried to change the conversation. He turned to Henry, "Oh you read about lycanthropy too?" He asked, generally curious. Maybe they could read about them and stuff together. He wondered if their was a group where everyone could just talk about how awesome creatures were. Maybe. .

Everything was fine. He was jotting down the bits of information that he had gathered so far, had woken up at the crack of dawn to keep watch on Madame Jensen's every move, and was scratching out possible connections and patterns as they came to him-- not only that, but there were new Professors this year he didn't know at all, not to mention a new head nurse. They would all need to be investigated. Any of them could be dangerous. The stress of fear itched at the back of his brain.

Then... there it was again. That nimrod was still talking to him. Flash gripped his quill so tightly that it snapped. Looking at the pieces in his hand, he sighed heavily. He imagined throwing the journal at the kid's head, screaming at him about how wrong he was. Another deep breath, and another slow sigh. His summer might have uprooted everything he thought he understood about life and death, but he was still civilized. He still could just jump off the deep end.

"On the contrary, I have no trouble at all communicating." Flash's eyes narrowed as he slammed his journal shut and stood up abruptly. His icy, strict demeanor suddenly vanished, replaced by a simple smile. The juxtaposition made it jarring. "Here's some free advice... to both of you. Don't talk to people who don't want to be talked to."

With that, he re-grabbed the apple he had been showing off before and left. Flash had almost forgotten how much he hated children. Still, he didn't think he would be feeling the same way about someone only one year younger than himself. It was going to be a long year.

Hearing Michael's comment on communication and a look toward Flash told the boy only bad things will happen now, his attempt to act as peacekeeper was failing and also his attempt to be friendly like others was also failing. How do others do this? Strike up casual conversations? You think after a year I would be better and not still be the anxious boy that came here as a first year... Henry heard Flash's comment before hearing his next remark allowing Henry to reply to himself in his head, trust me I will never be doing this again.

With Flash gone, Henry felt awkward and didn't know what to say. He thought maybe he should leave to on the other hand Michael spoke to him again and about lycanthropy. Henry wasn't really in the mood to discuss it since when he did he tended to think about his life with the condition and the night he got it which was far from a happy experience one could say. Henry however would smiled a bit as he spoke " yeah, I read it about and would quite a lot about it to," ending there as he didn't want to openly say he was a werewolf.

After Flash left, Henry seem to clam up. Henry however smiled a bit as he spoke " yeah, I read it about and would quite a lot about it to," he said ending almost abruptly.

Michael bite his lip. "Sorry, for being horrible at this, umm conversating. I'm not really used to talking with people especially new people so I kinda suck at it." He said, looking down and picking at his nails.

He looked up, "you can leave if you want, you don't have to sit with me or talk to me, it's fine." He hated how weak he felt but he knew putting up a front or plainly being mean wasn't going to help either of them. He wad curious about Henry, but he could ask others if need be.

He started back looking at his book, not reading but not wanting others to see him in his thoughts. He had only been in hogwarts for an hour and already he overthought an innocent conversation, pissed someone off, and made somewho who was just trying to talk to him and problary be friends seem unable to talk to him. God why was he so bad at this conversation thing.

He moved his hands back into his lab twisting his pinky, something he did when he was nervous. For some reason he felt like he belonged with Henry like. . like one of the packs in his book. He didn't want to lose the opportunity to be friends with Henry, so he hoped he would stay and say it was alright.

Henry still couldn't believe another person enjoy reading about creatures and more specifically werewolves as he smiled at Michael a bit and listened to him speak before thinking himself and finally saying " that's so bloody cool, maybe we could read about them in the library together sometime?" Granted Henry didn't actually need to read about them given the circumstances that he was one but he wasn't about to tell Michael that and he still enjoyed reading about them and getting a perspective from another.

Henry couldn't help but look down the table, everyone seemed to be so happy as he watched others chat and smile among themselves. He has never been good at socializing really so even through they seemed at ease, Henry felt anxious when he looked at the scene but of course that was probably just his anxiety to. He then looked back toward Michael when his words hit his ears and he smiled at the boy before saying " no worries mate, I'm not good with this either but your not to do bad so don't worry."

Henry smiled at Michael but then frown a bit at his words before Henry spoke " why would I want move? Compared to some other Slytherin's your more fascinating and intelligent to talk to than some of our other housemates Michael," Henry smiled before he would he say " would you mind if I called you mike?"
