"It's not quite ready for viewing eyes I'm afraid. I'll show you another time." He mumbled. In truth, he didn't feel like digging his sketchbook back out of his bag. It was pretty difficult to fit inside the bag due to the extra books he had packed in there. Cade always made sure he had some sort of reading material on him at all times. It did make walking around the castle a pain. But he just picked up a few more copies from the library. Including Standard Book of Spells Grade 2, of which he was dying to read. Cade looked around squinting from the bright sunlight. Now free of sketching, Cade finally had the time to take in his surroundings without the artist's eye. He was so used to looking for lines and contrasts he forgot how to see the overall picture! The late afternoon sun was bright in the sky. And the lake's surface rippled from the Giant Squid's dancing tentacles.

He looked over at Arissa surprised at her next question. It wasn't often that girls asked him such direct questions. Cade smiled at her and considered her question gently.

"I am quite the easygoing boy. I'll do whatever makes you feel most comfortable." He swept a hand through his hair, getting his bangs out of his eyes. "However, I do see a tree that might be worthy of a climb. Have you ever climbed a tree before?" He asked Arissa. He didn't know what to expect of this girl. She did mention she didn't like to run around but never said anything about climbing. Arissa seemed capable of doing at least something a little adventurous.

Wait. What did I heard just now?

It didn't took long for Arissa to react, as she turned her head in a frightening speed to fully face the Ravenclaw, as she repeated his previous word. "Climbing?" Her grey eyes widened, and she stared at him incredulously for a moment. A part of her still can't believe that the boy would suggest climbing as an activity. It's been a while since she was rendered speechless.

In usual case, she would deny it. After all, Arissa was the perfect lady that was born from the daughter of Rothchester family. Reading, gossips, polite talk and observing, that's what she's good at. In usual case, of course. The perfect lady that she was, should not in other way, shape or form entertained herself in such an activity. Her grandmother already made sure of that. And that would be an excellent excuse.

A lie regardless, but a beautiful excuse.

It would be the truth if she didn't have Adrian for a partner in crime. Adrian Rothchester who often visited Weasley Wizard Wheezes and owned quite an amazing stash of collection from the shop, despite the fact that he was the heir of a respectable Pureblood family. Adrian who had no qualms in sneaking them out for a more 'fun activity' than sitting around for lessons. She vividly recalled her first time watching him climbing a tree, at her grandmother's garden. And of course, as a girl who was brimming in curiosity at that time, Arissa followed his footsteps and for the first time, found herself giggling happily while watching the scene from the branch she's sitting on. That marked the first time she broke her grandmother's unspoken rule as a proper Rothchester lady, and they continued this activity once a month after their lessons, to avoid any suspicions. It's been a long time since she last participate in such an activity.

Arissa chuckled."You drive quite a hard bargain for a friendly boy such as yourself." Amusement was evident in her striking grey eyes. "As a matter of fact, I do have some...experience. But I won't say that I'm good at it."

Should she agree to that suggestion? Or should she just reject it? It took a while before Arissa make her decision. " Fine then." As she turn to glance at the tree she added, "However, if we did this, I need to be assured that there's no one else in this area, especially the Slytherins."

After all, Arissa Wright has a reputation to uphold.

Cade rose an eyebrow. So the great Arissa Wright did have some pulls of adventure within her. Cade was pleasantly surprised. "We are quite alone. And if there are any Slytherins we can count on seeing them first. We will have the high ground." He gave her a wink. Jumping to his feet, he grabbed his bag and led them to the tree in question. It was a very old elm. Winding branches hung low over the grass. The leaves were only just starting to fall from the twigs off the branches. Cade dropped his bag at the foot of the trunk.

"I'll go first and help you up." With a quick examination of various footholds and good grips, he started up the tree effortlessly. He had a lot of practice since his first time with Quinn Lee. Back then he'd nearly killed himself falling from such a height. Cade was glad he didn't give up on climbing trees. There was something about it that made Cade feel pretty good about himself. Usually Cade wasn't the most active type, preferring to strengthen the mind rather than the body. But climbing was different for him. He didn't know if it was the risk behind it or the rewarding views. It activated a part of his brain that wasn't exercised. Body coordination and strategy were key to this activity. Never in a million years would Cade give a second thought to being active. But it became a newer obsession with him. Perhaps this was the beginning of a new era for Cade. Maybe he would look into being more active and work to level out his mind and body.

Lifting himself into a sitting position on the lowest branch he looked down at Arissa."Your turn then, need any help?" He called down. The climb wasn't too difficult. There were very reasonably spaced out handholds. Cade then frowned. Perhaps it was because he was taller that made it easy. Either which way, Cade would help Arissa should she need it.

As Arissa watched Cade climbed the tree rather easily, she couldn't help but remarked, "You know Cade, it's quite rare for someone to bring a lovely lady such as myself to do this kind of sport."

She glanced at the tree warily, hoping that she wouldn't see any undesirable insect lurking on the tree. While the tree didn't seem to be that tall, Arissa was petite. This was one of the time when Arissa was displeased with her height. She didn't exactly wish to be tall, but as far as she see, most of her peers was a bit taller than her.

When Cade offered her his help, Arissa merely said, "Usually, my pride won't let me accept help from others. I'll try to accomplish it with my own effort." When she placed her bag down, she looked up to him once more.

"However, I'm not going to let this stupid pride of mine to dictate my action. I would advise you to better be on your guard though."

She started by raising her hand to the lowest branch of the tree, trying to calculate how much distance that she needed to cover. Cade made it seem easy, but he was tall. She, on the other hand, was a little shorter. Arissa took a deep breath before saying, "Scratch that. Your hand, Cade. I need you to pull me up after I started climbing this." She shot the boy a suspicious glance. "You're strong, aren't you? Enough to carry my weight? "

Despite her saying that, Arissa actually started her climb, while muttering why is it that the school did not allow personal elf to come with the students. After all, the everytime Arissa climb the tree, her house elf was the one who supported her, with its magic and strength.

Cade chuckled when Arissa mentioned her pride. It was true, Cade never knew another girl who held herself so regally as Arissa did. Perhaps older women. His mother, Peggy, held the same aristocratic air when hosting parties, but she wasn't like that most of the time. Cade wondered if Arissa was the same. Did she ever let her guard down? Cade had gotten her this far. He was still impressed that she even allowed this to happen. Cade half expected her to disagree with it and suggest they just take a walk instead. Now thinking of it that was probably the better option.

Cade watched her in silence as she considered the tree and the best way to climb it. She seemed wary about making a fool of herself in front of him or another potential passerby. If it were to happen, Cade might smile, but just as quickly be there to help her and nurse potential wounds. He wasn't even sure where the hospital wing was in the castle. He never had to go there himself. But Cade was sure they wouldn't have that issue. Not on his watch. If she were to fall he could easily pull out his wand and try out the levitation spell. That was if he were quick enough to foresee it happening. Cade doubted his fast reflexes. It would be best to try to catch her with his hands.

Coming out of his thoughts, Cade realized Arissa was now looking at him with a questioning glint in her eye. She was asking about how strong he was. Cade had a sudden image of him flexing his muscles in the mirror. His body type wasn't anything impressive, just some underdeveloped lean muscle stretched from his tendency to grow an inch every week.

"I'll be able to pull you up." Truthfully, Cade never tried to carry someone his age with just his own strength. He assumed it would be easy. Arissa had a petite frame. Surely she'd be lightweight? She was trusting him with her pride. He would be careful not to break that trust. Cade adjusted himself on the branch. Instead of riding side saddle, he had one leg on either side of the tree. Cade then reached his right hand down as far as he could so Arissa could reach him. He took her outstretched hand and supporting her, pulled her up gently.

"Now brace your foot there. Yep... Excellent, you got it!" The girl was just as light as he had expected. Cade didn't have any trouble pulling her up to the sturdy ledge. Realizing how close together they were, Cade scooted out of the way so Arissa could sit in a more comfortable position against the trunk. It was a safer place to sit on a tree. If Cade were to sit any farther away the branch would snap and he'd go falling with it. "You okay? That wasn't so bad now was it?"

Arissa really felt like this would be the last time she'll climbing any sort of trees without her elf's support. Only a few minutes of climbing and it felt like she has run a marathon. The torture, fortunately only lasted for a few seconds, before she felt herself being pulled up by the dark haired boy. Rather easily, she might add.

"Thank you, Cade." A part of her truly envied the boy, who seemed very normal and relaxed; a far cry from her who was running out of breath. Challenging herself, was it? Not a smart move. She's lucky that it's just Cade, and not anyone she needed to be wary of. There's a limit to everything, she guess.

'I may need a little training during the holiday. It won't do to show others this weakness of mine after all.'

After a few minutes did she felt comfortable enough to start talking. "Frankly, I don't think I'll be climbing anything this year. Perhaps this kind of activity didn't suit someone like me. Only a minute of climbing and I already felt exhausted." To salvage her pride, she promptly added, "It's not like I'm bad at this, Cade. It's best for you to not be mistaken. It's just that I'm more suitable for something a bit elegant, you know? Such as tea parties as I'm used to that sort of things."

Cade may be her friend, but Arissa is a stubborn girl. She won't admit the fact that she's truly pathetic in this sort of activities. Not a bit, but a lot. The tree was not even that tall. And speaking of tree...

Arissa raised her head, her eyes glancing at the view before her, which she has yet to properly enjoy. It's been a long time since she sat on a tree, so she can't help but a bit amazed by the wonderful scenery. Observing something from a high location surely brought a newfound confidence in her. She can just hex anyone from behind and they wouldn't even notice. Not that she has that kind of hobby, of course. It's a little barbaric for someone as sophisticated as her.

The view actually remind her of something; a sport that her father often spoken so fondly of. Arissa would not ever participate in that sport, but she can't help but feel like playing Quidditch would bring some sort of exhilaration for a person.

She turned her head towards the boy sitting next to her."Say, Cade. Do you ever thought of joining your house Quidditch Team? from what I see, you did have a bit of talent in that."

Truthfully, while Cade didn't seem like someone who would run around and play every sport, he sure was athletic, that it makes her wonder whether or not he actually interested in Wizarding World's most popular sport.

Cade was admiring the beautiful view of the castle towers. He could make out the astronomy tower and the clock tower. The sunlight hit the castle walls just perfectly. Cade watched as flocks of owls flew to and from the owlery. Looking down the tree to see where his bag lay containing his sketchbook, Cade noted that he would eventually draw the owlery as well.

Cade glanced at Arissa, it seemed that she too was enjoying the miraculous view of the grounds. Now that she was up in the tree Cade had a feeling that Arissa did enjoy sitting up high. Sure she wasn't particularly good at climbing, but with a little more effort, Cade could see her climbing without being so out of breath.

"Frankly, I don't think I'll be climbing anything this year," She told him. Cade deflated, so much for that thought. "It's just that I'm more suitable for something a bit elegant, you know? Such as tea parties as I'm used to that sort of thing." Cade nodded silently at her. Perhaps he was getting ahead of himself. Arissa was not that type of girl. And that was perfectly fine, Arissa had other talents that Cade was sure to explore at a later date. Arissa asked him if he wanted to join his house quidditch team.

Talent? Cade was puzzled he never considered himself to be athletic. Sure he tried his hand in the muggle sport of Rugby. But after being tackled, thrown around in the mud, and returned home with a broken wrist, Peggy didn't approve of such mundane brutality. She had him learn how to ride a broom instead. And had Charles take him out to watch a few quidditch games including the 2018 Quidditch World Cup. Cade enjoyed those events but he never considered joining a quidditch team. The sport seemed even more dangerous than Rugby. Played hundreds of feet in the air, almost every game had instances of foul play. Cade could imagine plummeting off of his broom from a stray bludger.

"I dunno, It seems a little dangerous for the likes of me. I never actually thought about it before. I mean what position would I even play? What do you think?" He wondered what position he would best play. He was far too tall to be a seeker, they needed to be small and quick. Chasers looked like a fun time they got all the attention. The beaters had to have great accuracy and strength enough to divert the bludger away. Cade wasn't sure he was that strong. Then what about a keeper? They had to have extra length to better protect the goal hoops.

"I'm might think about it more next year, I mean I would want to get my own broom. First years aren't allowed brooms and the school brooms are pretty awful."

Privately, Cade had always considered joining the dueling club. He had such a fascination for spells and the way they worked. But he was a little shy about joining. He hadn't even been at Hogwarts that long much less know a bunch of defensive spells. But the thrill and risk behind quidditch were pretty alluring. And Cade did just decide to work more on leveling his body and mind. Quidditch would allow him to train and get to know his house better. Perhaps even lead Ravenclaw to the glory of the house cup. His house has been lacking in points this year. Cade would have to give this idea more consideration.

Her lips quirked up into a smirk when she heard his words. However, she definitely agree with him.

Truthfully, Cade was not wrong. Quidditch was a dangerous and extreme sport. She heard that broken bones was a usual occasion, but she has yet to watch a game with her own eyes. So she can't exactly confirm or deny that statement. Cade himself also didn't seem to be interested in that idea.

Arissa can't blame him, really. Only the bravest would dare to participate in such a game, falling off the sky was definitely a no for someone like her. She didn't mind riding a broom itself however.

But only for mere amusement and a way to relax. Nothing barbaric definitely.

"I would say that the safest position in a Quidditch Team would be the beater, as they're the only one that had a weapon in their hand. However, a beater must have enough strength on their arms." They can freely hit any stray bludger, and the only one with a weapon. The safest option, for sure.

"For seeker, it is the most dangerous position, as they tend to get hit by a bludger a number of times." She grimaced at the thought. How someone was willing to go through all that was beyond her comprehension. But usually, Seeker was the most popular member in a Quidditch Team. Well, perhaps that's the reason. And the fact that all they need was catching a snitch and dodging of course.

"Keeper on their hand directly work with the bludger. It's normal for a few bruises after every Quidditch game. And you need to master controlling your broom." Arissa frowned thoughtfully before adding, "All those flipping, showing off, waving, and the ability to annoy your opponents is a must I would say. I imagine the keeper would be the the most frivolous and flashiest of them all, especially when they managed to defend their goal. "

All different position, and need of different talent and strength. Quidditch was not exactly her priority, however if Slytherin did win, well or course she'll be happy.

"I don't really mind Quidditch that much, as I'm not truly a fan. However, I would surely be there if Slytherin enters the Finals, wearing green and silver. Supporting my fellow snakes is important as well." Mischief flickered in her eyes as she said that. From the corner of her eyes, she could see two Hufflepuffs walking in the area. Thankfully, none of them noticed the presence of a girl and a boy sitting on the tree.

"I do believe that we also have Duelling competition if you prefer that. Personally, I do enjoy watching duelling more; but I'm still unsure whether that interest of mine is limited to mere entertainment or something much deeper."

"Yes, I was considering joining the dueling club. But I don't know too many dueling spells. What if I get paired with someone who knows loads more than I do? I suppose none of the spells could kill me but it's still quite intense." Cade's knuckles grew white as he grasped the branch below him tightly. The truth was he was nervous about signing up. He wasn't very confident with his wand yet. And performing spells in front of an audience made the whole ordeal even more unpleasant.

"I've never told anyone this... but my father was a duelist for Slytherin. It's mostly because of him that I want to try it." Cade said quietly. He met Arissa's eyes then looked away a little embarrassed. He never before mentioned that his father was his real inspiration. Being a very respectable man in the ministry and traveling abroad for work he never had much time to watch Cade grow up. Cade wanted to make his old man proud and perhaps notice him more often.

"Hang on, you mentioned dueling was 'something much deeper'. What is that supposed to mean?" Cade snapped his head back towards Arissa. His eyes narrowing and a slight sneer showed on his face. He didn't think that Arissa would have a backstory for dueling. She seemed very straight-laced. Or was there something else to this elusive girl? Cade could understand watching the duelists as a source of entertainment. It was sometimes funny to see what effects the spells made. And how they sometimes backfired the caster himself.

Cade tried to picture Arissa and himself dueling as opposing captains one day. He could already see her cold calculating eyes glowing with mischievous intent glare up at him as she cast a final spell upon him. She would probably be a fierce competitor that would rarely give mercy not even for one of her friends.

Arissa shot the Ravenclaw and unimpressed look, while crossing her arms. "That means, Cade, I'll probably apply as a Slytherin duellist, as well." Her eyes darted towards the boy's face, while shaking her head. "It's a 50-50 chance actually. As someone who would become the head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement, having that skill is a must, no matter whether I like it or not. I'm not going to be a perfect princess who only know to stay pretty."

Perfect Princess.

Arissa scoffed at that. She's not even a Pureblood, despite her upbringing that was no different from any Pureblood lady. Her manners, her appearance, her skills, all of them were impeccable.

Her grandmother made sure of it. Thankfully, Arissa only allowed her only until she finished Hogwarts. After that, it's Arissa's own choice. No one else.

"Why are you so shocked, Cade?" Arissa had notice his initial expression, and she can't exactly say she was pleased with it. However, her tone was still playful. "Are you scared that you might face me in the future?"

That's a possibility, one that Arissa can't deny. That is, if she truly go through with the plan. Personally, Arissa didn't wanted herself to be humiliated in public, so she might ignore the plan altogether.

She prefers personal security than taking risk, and she has been living like that for years. This was her biggest problem, and she's aware of it. However, she didn't have enough guts to choose the one she knew would open up a new path for her.

"It's highly likely that I wouldn't go through with the plan, as performing in public with a risk of humiliation for myself is far beyond my capabilities." She tucked a strand of her blond hair, her grey eyes wandered to the people below, ignoring the mocking voice inside her head.

"However, I wouldn't say no to a private battle, away from prying eyes. " After that remark, she turned her head, while looking straight at the Ravenclaw boy.

"So, what about it, Cade? Fancy having a duel with me?"

That challenge was a bit of a shock, even for Arissa herself. But that's the only way for her to improve. Among all people, Cade knew her the longest, and he wouldn't blabbed anything. He was the best choice.

The duel itself might not be now, as they barely learnt any spells at this time. But in the future, they have more spells in their arsenal - enough for a simple mock duel.
