Michael Miller was not, well he wasn't social. So when he was up to be sorted he was okay with Slytherin. He was okay with the green and the quiet, and the dark.
He followed the group of first years to the great hall, waited till the others had gone in, he had to observe them without being in the way. It didnt take long to be sorted Slytherin of course.
He sat down, and sighed only about 300 days to go and he'll be back home, in his library. He moved into his bag, he couldn't believe that some people but everything in there trunks, what about their reading! He opened his second favorite book, Hogwarts: A history, and began to read.
It didn't take more than 20 mintues til the small chatter began to bug him, not used to the noise. He tried to tone them out, but nothing. He know there had to be a spell or something to hush their noise, but. . what if he did something wrong and the spell back fired? No he couldn't risk it. He just had to deal with it.
He couldn't do it, he sat his book down. 'Gods i thought slytherins were quiet' he thought, as he sulked. He watched everyone, from little kids talking about their rides, to older kids talking about their summers.
He couldn't possibly be any more bored.

Henry moved away from Cash and the other first year who spit in his food. He really did just want to be alone, to be with his thoughts and just think but apparently peace and quiet for the slytherin will be harder than he thought. Henry moved to the other end of the slytherin table where less students sat, one was a boy whom Henry swore he watched get sorted a few minutes ago but couldn't remember his name so he just smiled a hello at him before he let his mind wander and thoughts take over at least for a whole that is.
However that didn't last long as his thoughts kept being pushed away by the other quiet boy who sat by him, maybe he should say hi or maybe he shouldn't, Henry to keep from staring placed three chicken legs on his plate before adding some chips or frys as Americans called them. Henry again couldn't help himself but think about the boy and after a while of struggling of thinking of his new found hidden life and family, Henry smiled at the boy and he spoke " hey, I'm Henry," Henry turned his plated a bit before asking the boy " your a first year right? I think I remember you being sorting with the rest of the lot."

The boy whom sat by him smiled at Michael, confusing him at first. 'Please tell me you're not about to speak to me' he thought as the boy looked over again. Michael wondered if he could live, he didn't like this - the people - there were too many and they were loud and-. That boy just spit! Michael was positively grossed out. Then The boy spoke " hey, I'm Henry," Henry turned his plated a bit before asking " your a first year right? I think I remember you being sorting with the rest of the lot." Michael nodded, so he had to speak to him, that's what names promise, conversation. He didnt think this through at all. He didnt wana talk this this boy, heck he didnt want to talk to any boy
Michael wondered if it would be rude to put his book back up, and pretend he wasn't spoken to. He turned to the boy. The boy looked taller than him, problary older. He sighed. "Yeah, I'm Michael" He looked over the boy again before asking, "Are you in your second year? I dont remember you." Michael frowned, he sounded rude. He didn't mean to be rude. "Sorry if that came out rude" he said, but then felt like he was just calling attention to his rudeness. He had to stop himself for sighing again, merlin and now he's over thinking everything.

Flash spent most of his time in the Great Hall writing in his journal these days, there were too many things to keep track of not to. If he tried to keep everything in his head, his brain might collapse. The ball, the conspiracies, the thing that happened... he needed to compartmentalize it. He used to prefer silence, even isolation to gather his thoughts, but now silence haunted him. The lack of noise filled with the sounds of memories he was trying to erase.
Having the reputation for not liking to be disturbed when he was writing, none of his people were around him or talking to him, He was sitting with a straight back, only looking up to scan the room, as if expecting something to go wrong when he wasn't watching.
It was in one of these instances that he spotted Henry talking to a fresh first year over the edge of a sheltering book. An introduction, Henry always seemed so friendly. Perhaps too friendly.
"Henry, I don't believe the boy was interested in talking." Flash glanced only briefly at his dorm mate before letting his eyes land on the bookworm. "Not that Henry isn't pleasant company."
Flash's look was analytical, though the light in them only lasted until he determined the child wasn't a threat.
"You can take the food with you, you know." Flash held up an apple nearby, an excellent example of portable food. "My first year I rarely ever ate in the Great Hall."
It was less of an invitation to further conversation, and more a statement of fact. Flash went back to writing.

Just when things couldn't get worse another boy started talking to him or well Henry. "Henry, I don't believe the boy was interested in talking." The boy glanced at Henry before his eyes landed on Michael . "Not that Henry isn't pleasant company."
The boy's look was analytical, then they almost dimmed like he determined Michael wasn't a threat.
"You can take the food with you, you know." The boy held up an apple nearby, like he was giving him an example. "My first year I rarely ever ate in the Great Hall."
With that the boy went back to writing. "Umm. . Okay." He looked over the boy, another 2nd year problary. He looked over the boy. 'Hmm he might be worth knowing.' He thought. He looked between the boys, and concluded that while he'll not be friends with these boys, being acquaintances could work out.
The rustle of paper brought his back from his thoughts. "What are you writing?" He asked out of what one could only assume childish curiosity. After the question was out there he wished he could catch it and return it to only his mind. "Sorry for being nosey, you don't have to answer that." God could he be any more embaressing? 'really you just had to ask him that' he reprimanded himself. He bite his lip, expecting the boy to be mad, heck furious because of such a nosey question.

The boy introduced himself as Michael and that he was a first year like Henry thought, not that he was watching the sorting or anything since his thoughts were rather focused on others topics and worries. Hearing his question and apology Henry nodded ad he spoke " it's nice to meet you Michael and yeah I'm a second year but don't worry that didn't sound rude or anything," Henry smiled at the boy than begun to look around as he as he tried to get his thoughts back, as he tried to let his thoughts fill his head again and take over which would end up giving him a panic attack.
However he didn't get the chance as another joined them; Flash Holmwood a fellow slytherin in the snape dorm. Henry nodded to Flash's comment and looked down a bit awkwardly before replying " your probably right Flash, thanks for the welcoming interruption than," Henry then turned to back to Michael but before he could speak Flash did so he spoke after, agreeing " sorry about that mate but Flash is right if you prefer it then you should go to the common room to eat. It's definitely quieter there," Henry then heard Michael speak again this time referring to Flash's writing and he couldn't help but be curious to so he ask Flash, " that's for yourself right mate,"

Flash didn't look up right away when the talking continued. Henry was being more than reasonable, and the new kid was given helpful advice. Really, he had gone above and beyond the call of duty when it came to human interaction when he was ostensibly in the middle of doing something else. Not only that, but he was asking about his journal. Even Henry seemed drawn into the line of questioning, neccesitating that it be addressed. Flash's returning gaze wouldn't be nearly as kind as it was the first time, more like a glare.
"You don't want to know. Flash insisted, deadpan. Perhaps it sounded like a command, but as Flash saw it, it was just the unequivical truth. Still, he couldn't leave room for curiosity. "It's all the things that book won't tell you about Hogwarts."
Wait, no, that was worse. The vaguely edgy statement would only draw the curious closer. Flash had to grimace at his choice of words, he hadn't really been prepared for this encounter. Clearing his throat, he looked around again as if checking for eavesdroppers. Of course, there were plenty of people nearby, but the important thing was who those people were.
"Just... read your stupid book."

After introducing himself ,and showing that he was a first year, Henry nodded and said " it's nice to meet you Michael and yeah I'm a second year but don't worry that didn't sound rude or anything," Henry smiled making Michael feel somewhat better, though then the boy begun to look around as if he was in thought. What was he thinking about, michael wondered, though it was none of his business.
Henry nodded to the other boy's comment and looked down a bit awkwardly before replying " your probably right Flash, thanks for the welcoming interruption than," Then he turned back to Michael but before he could say anything, Flash did so he spoke after, agreeing " sorry about that mate but Flash is right if you prefer it then you should go to the common room to eat. He knew he should have just shut up, even Henry knew better to say anything.

Michael was so curious about the boy and his writing he didn't speak. Next the boy cleared his throat, he looked around again as if checking for something, or someone.
"Just... read your stupid book." Michael flushed more, angry and embarrassed. He huffed, "It's not stupid." He said, though it was only slightly more than a whisper. There was only a few times that Michael ever felt his age, and now, this was one of them. He hated it, feeling like such a kid, like he was dumb.

Henry thought he could melt into the background and return to his thoughts but unfortunately life wasn't in his favor at the moment instead it looked like a sick joke was being played on Henry making him talk or interact with others. As Henry listened, not on purpose, however he listened and heard something in Flash's voice that was odd. Remembering he was one of the president's of the AURA club or meetings really and also he mostly saw Flash as a bounce of reason or maybe he didn't know since he hardly hung around other people in his first year and would rather watch at a distance but that made him wonder how did he have friends then.
Henry then heard Michael's reply and figured he should step in even through he didn't want as he spoke " what is your book about Michael?" Henry was trying to distract Michael as he then spoke to Flash, " no one wants to know anyway Flash so relax alright? Uh good luck on your writing then," Henry sucked at comforting people but he tried as he spoke again to Flash " I realized we hardly hung out first year maybe we could change that?" Henry wasn't to keen on hanging out with others but anything to distract the two boy's as he turned back to Michael and spoke " do you like reading Michael? What type of books do you like?"

Henry had just about disappeared in Michael's mind, until he spoke " what is your book about Michael?" Michael jumped because the sudden question then flushed red, "Hogwarts:A history" He answered then watched as Henry turned to the other boy, Flash? Weird name.
"No one wants to know anyway, Flash , so relax alright? Uh good luck on your writing then. I realized we hardly hung out the first year, maybe we could change that?" Oh he was just trying to be a peacemaker, Michael couldn't believe he was foolish enough to believe they could want to be fri- acquaintances. Henry then turned back to Michael and spoke " do you like reading Michael? What type of books do you like?"
Michael scratched his head, then put his arms down, putting them under his thighs so he wouldn't fidget. "Well, I like books about Creatures, like unicorns and Stuff. I'm reading one book, The inner workings of Beasts (im making this up, because i couldn't find one) written by a man suffering from lycanthropy." He smiled, the book was starting to become one of his favorites because not only was it factual, it showed that werewolves could have happy and comfortable lives.
He moved pulling said book out and opening it to the page he was on, page 262. He wondered if one of them would want to borrow his book. He mentally made to note to check the library for more books on werewolves. Then he made a note to find the library, that passing his mind to start with. He looked up as they spoke again.
