Ami hissed sharply as she could feel the hard heel of Scott's dress shoe stamp on her own, cursing the soft leather for not standing up to the Gryffindor's horror at her manners, or rather, lack thereof. But, of course, she shook it off as she continued to inquire after the stranger's attire, and Scott finally seemed to return to his body as thoughts and words returned to his mind. She scoffed quietly at Scott's hurriedly half-assed an explanation for her horrible manners. But what was the point in using pretty words if you could only beat around the bush with them?
But her jaw promptly dropped open in surprise as she heard the honeyed, Texan words flowing out of the boy's mouth, although she barely managed to restrain herself from throwing her arms around him in a giant bear hug. It felt so rare to meet another American here at Hogwarts, and Ami already knew that they would be very good friends, indeed.
Plus, he actually knew their names; as he stumbled through her last name, Ami shot Scott an excited glance, before glancing at the mini-Scott standing in front of them. He... looked like Scott, but minus the paisley and hair gel. American Scott? He looked like an American Scott, and while it was a bit unnerving at first, she quickly decided that they would simply have to be friends. At the mention of his name, Ami filed him away as "Chuck" without a second thought, although she elbowed Scott with a waggle of her eyebrows as she heard Woodward address him as "sir". What a snazzy little fellow! If only there were more students like him at Hogwarts; what a much better school it would be.
Ami nodded sagely as Chuck explained that his mask was a Wendigo, or Wendigo-themed, recalling the name from her history lessons in America. "I'm from America, too," she explained, "So I guess that's where I've seen it. Although... I lived in Chicago, so I guess I don't know much about Wendigos and stuff."
His flowery language, however strange it was, seemed more on Scott's level than hers. Gently adjusting her feathery mask on her face, Ami glanced at Scott as Chuck asked if they had mistaken him for someone else. Had they? She couldn't recall just why, exactly, she had marched on over here, the adrenaline of the night turning her thoughts into a frantic whirlwind. She could smell the heavy perfumes and colognes of the various partygoers, and the wide array of colors were distracting, at best. "Hmm... Scott, why are we here, again?" she wondered aloud, tapping her chin slightly. "Who knows! I definitely do-"
But there was a commotion. Ami's head quickly whipped around, her mask nearly flying clean off her face as her ears strained to catch the booming words of the intruder inside the ballroom. Glancing nervously at Scott, Ami's hand clenched into a fist, as if she were ready to punch whatever threat had arrived. Noticing the considerable amount of students flooding from the ballroom, Ami turned back to Scott and Chuck. "Something's happening," she muttered, clearly stating the obvious, "And I want to see what it is. Chuck, my boy... we may not know each other, but we do now. Let's go."
Grabbing Chuck's elbow firmly in one hand and Scott's wrist in another, the Hufflepuff easily dragged them along with her down the corridor, the dark swath of cloth draped across her shoulders swishing dramatically as the trio made their way to the hunt.
No one went on an adventure without Ami Procoppio.

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Percival stood awkwardly his hand was held out towards his girlfriend. At the ready to take her hand in his. Girlfriend. The world felt heavy in his mouth like he was chewing on a piece of gauze. It felt surreal and he wondered when he would wake up from this dream. When Percival had found out that Opeila liked him, actually liked him, he had been ecstatic. Not many people got the chance to date their crush, and he counted himself lucky.
Though as time passed that ecstatic feeling had begun to wear off. Those rose-tinted sunglasses had fallen off and he felt like he was truly looking at Opeila. The way she would relax in his presence. The way she would become flustered around him. He found it strangely sentimental, and a part of him could not help but wish for that to never go away.
Though all good things seemed to come to an end when it came to him. His heart ached as he remembered his earlier thoughts. Percival wanted to believe that he must have just fabricated the distance between them. It was possible he had just overthought things and had gotten ahead of himself. A part of him knew the truth. No matter how much he tried to bury it down. Yet, he couldn't find it in himself to focus on it. Deciding it better to get lost in the movement of their dance.
Percival's face blushed heavily as she accepted his proposal for a dance. The boy's face felt hot, and he cleared his throat before leading her to the dance floor. His heart thumped slightly in his chest as he turned fully towards her. Percival could not help but appreciate those horrendous dancing lessons now. He had faith that he would be able to lead Opeila successfully.
The only hurdle was to make sure that his nervousness did not get in the way. The last thing he wanted was to smash Opeila's foot by continually stepping on it. As the two moved across the dance floor, Percival could not help but focus solely on Opeila. She was his date so it made sense to focus on her. The people around them seemed to blur slightly in his peripheral vision.
The boy wanted to compliment her. Whether it be her dress or her dancing skills. Both compliments would have worked since both would have been true. Though things did not go as planned as a foot slammed down onto his right foot. Percival let out a surprised shout letting go of Opeila completely. His foot throbbed not agreeing with being stomped on so aggressively. Times like these, Percival was glad Opeila was sensible and had worn flats instead of the heels many girls favored. The boy wasn't so sure he wanted to know how much the throbbing in his foot would be amplified by a pointy shoe.
"What. . .?" he asked following where he had heard the glass shattering. The boy's brows furrowed his drawing into a frown. The boy would flick out his wand from his wand holster glad he had brought it. He wasn't so sure he would actually need it, but it was better to be prepared then anything. "I guess if you want to, but let's stay together." he said moving forward.

Interacting with Elise Laurent (@Scarlett Aden)
As Maximilien de Fostoncy | owl for interactions English | French | Outfit “No, Maxi would be great.” he muttered, smiling gently at Elise. “Let’s have a dance together, then?”
He was almost grateful to hold such a beautiful angel’s hands and twirling in the ballroom with her. Thank Merlin, he was here, extremely well. Indeed, he was not a stranger to dancing, since he had been at balls at about only eight years old, which, was the only thing that he was much better than the Springhall kids — except Enjolras, the other three danced terribly. Though his ball partner had never been so charming, so fascinating, so —
BANG!
What’s that? A…a monster? No one had told him Hogwarts was dangerous for young people to stay in. They said Hogwarts was a great place, one of the best, or just the best magical school. But no. It wasn’t true. Things were happening just so fast. Edmund and Lindsey told him nothing. They should be hexed when he met them again.
Elise grabbed his hand tightly, and he hold it back. No. We wouldn’t die. We wouldn’t…
“I don’t really know…” apologetically he answered. “Hogwarts is believed a safe place. But…”
He couldn’t say more. He felt that he was losing the game. The time was passing, and he could do nothing — this was England. Not his hometown, and he was not familiar with it at all. If he was in the castle of Beauxbatons, he would go after the ghost — who seemed suspicious. But now, as he’s just a foreigner, he had to be prudent. He had to protect himself. And especially, Elise.
His heart ached. What if he failed to protect her? He wouldn’t really care if himself’s hurt or not, as only Monsieur le Comte and Monsieur le Chevalier would care about that. Though Madame…
Another heart ache. Whenever he thought of his dear though distant mother, it would be like this. He wished to spend more time with her when he was still young, and every time, he failed.
“Together. Yes.” he didn’t answer Elise’s question straightly, although he hold her hand tighter. “We should be together…forever tonight. If we are parted somehow…and you feel scared, call my name, then I’d be there, okay?”
It’s a promise. He gazed into the beautiful eyes of the blonde, and slightly, smiled. Her hands were still in his, and he didn’t let them go — maybe they’d be just like this until she took them back from his own.
He saw students hurrying out the ballroom. They seemed scared…no, wait. They were perfectly excited.
“Foolish Englishman.” he murmured in perfect English. Then he got back to his calm self, and glanced over the ballroom. He had to investigate it…suspiciously, he gazed towards the window where the ghost broke in.

Rose walked into the ballroom just as the ghost crashed through the window. She tensed- even though she was on the other side of the room, that shattering sound was chilling. But... if the guy broke the window, why wasn't it- broken? Well, obviously he was a ghost. But all the glass that had gone rushing toward the floor- wasn't real. Rose thought ghosts were cool, but she never really considered that that was something that would happen. And the riddle... It was more than a riddle, it was a warning, urging the students to help. Many did. Many didn't. Rose hesitated. What was she supposed to do? Follow him? Possibly get in the way? Stay here and possibly ruin the entire thing while other people saved the school? And what was his full name? She had a feeling it had a p somewhere in it, but she had never heard of this guy, so how was she supposed to know his full name?
Eyre.
He was going to go try and save the school, wasn't he? Of course he was. But he was still there, next to Anastasia Beckett... What if-
No, definitely not. Eyre had romantic eyes only for Rose, and of all people, definitely not Anastasia Beckett.
Right?
Rose bit her lip in hesitation. What was she supposed to do?

Gregorí smiled at Elisabeth upon listening to her decision. He was right: she always concerned about everyone else, putting them before herself. He knew right there and then that she was one of the kindest people he had ever known.
The Mexican boy did not know how much she liked puzzles and riddles, nor did he know whether she enjoyed solving them more than dancing or vice versa. But in any case, he could see very clearly that she had thought about him and his interest, and thus making a decision based on that. Speaking about which: she was correct, he would much prefer to crack puzzles than to dance. Gregorí had no offense whatsoever against dancing (or those who enjoy doing or watching it, of course), but somehow he could not truly see its beauty. The Horned Serpent student did not find anything aesthetically pleasing in watching the dancers moved, but then again, it was all purely a matter of taste. No one was wrong and nobody was right when it came to taste.
Either way, he said to Elisabeth in Spanish, "Then let's follow the cat. It's almost gone." Before they left though, he smiled at the younger student reassuringly and gently told her in their mother tongue, "If later you decide that you don't like this, we can always leave, OK? Please promise you'd tell me anytime you feel uncomfortable."

The joy that washed over Ethen from the kiss was immediate and the smile that formed on his lips was unwavering. His heart still pounded with the silenced nerves and his eyes remained locked on his date. He couldn’t believe he actually did it. While getting ready he had wondered if he would be able to but had more or less talked himself out of it. He was still somewhat convinced that Atlas had only viewed him as a friend but it seemed that there might truly be something more. It was his first kiss and now he had no idea what to do or say but he no longer cared, he was just overjoyed that he talked himself into it.Interacting with @Atlas Reid
Ethen watched the girl carefully and he could see the happiness beaming from her smile. Even that small beautiful gesture sent a warmth through Ethen. When Atlas finally spoke again, she seemed to still be fumbling somewhat with her words but it only made Ethen smile more at the endearing girl.
“I had a good teacher I think,” Ethen said softly. His thoughts were still racing and beyond jumbled as Atlas again took up the mantle of conversation. He listened quietly as the girl seemingly began to break down her feelings for him. Again his heart began to pound as he tried to anticipate what she was saying.
“The ‘uh kiss’,” Ethen snickered softly as he peered down at the girl. He didn’t have words for how he felt about her and seeing her in the dress and that beautifully ethereal smile kept word from leaving his lips. All Ethen wanted to do was kiss the girl again. To hold her in that dance and never leave the moment. As Atlas’ fingers interlaced with his, Ethen again found himself smiling.
“I am not good with the word things. Spins and finding cookies, yes. But you mean everything to me, Atlas. I think you are so pretty and am always thinking about you. You are more than my best friend and always will be,” Ethen said softly as he pulled the girl into a tighter embrace.
“And I have decided!” Ethen said with a sudden boost of confidence. He wasn’t sure what he had decided but thought he would just see what he could come up with. “I have decided... that we will have to hold hands and ‘uh kiss’ more often now.” Ethen gave a contented nod at the decision and returned a smile to Atlas as he parted some.
In their moment of happiness, it seemed the music had taken a turn to something that set a more spooky ambiance. He had no idea what the night truly meant for their already close relationship but he was confident that it would not be the same come morning and he couldn’t be happier. “I also think that maybe... I should also start calling you my girlfriend... I don’t know how this works but I think it sounds much better to me,” he said with a flash of nervousness. But he did what he could to at least try and not ramble at the girl incoherently.
Despite his pounding and anxious heart, Ethen couldn’t have been happier. Lacing both of his hands in Atlas’, Ethen pulled his body away from her a bit to more dramatically sway about to the spooky music. His mind was completely flustered and he barely knew what was going on around him anymore as every ounce of his attention was firmly planted on the girl standing across from him.

Mentioning @Romah NeobeyCade waited by the punch table not exactly sure what on earth he was doing here. He was here upon request of one of his friends who was adamant about him going. And Cade didn't want to let her down so here he was. Although he almost regretted his decision. Here he was standing alone like a fool. Cade wasn't one for balls. How could he be? This was his first-ever! He never even danced with a girl before. So here he waited for the group of first-year girls Romah promised would be attending with them. Cade trusted Romah, she was a wild girl with a billion interests. Surely she saw something that resembled a good dancer in Cade. Why else would she invite him? Cade hoped everything would go well.
He looked around, considering the well-dressed students around him. There were even students from other schools here. Cade always observed these students from afar not daring to approach them and ask about their business. He looked down out his own outfit. His mother had sent him dress robes as soon as he sent her an owl about the ball. He never told her he was planning to attend but apparently, she wanted him to. He was wearing a midnight blue waistcoat and matching bow-tie. A crystal white coat adorned his shoulders that nearly touched his ankles. The cherry on top was his mask. It was the same midnight blue but adorned with white gems. He felt like a clown. Looking around he matched the room and its occupants. Cade was slightly worried he would somehow manage to stain the snow-white coat. But seeing as he didn't have plans to wear this again in the future, he decided it would be fine.

The Hufflepuff smiled back at the Horned Serpent. Gregorí kind of scared her at the beginning when they had just started to converse - that is, before they were even new friends, perhaps not even acquaintance if you would rather think it that way, just strangers trying to have a friendly chat - but now that she had come to know him better, she thought he was very kind and considerate. Sure he was not as sensitive as her, but she could sense that he tried his best in order to make Elisabeth comfortable. Which was not easy, this the first-year realised.
He agreed with her suggestion to go crack the riddle, but not without reassuring her that whenever she felt uncomfortable, they could always quit the game - at least, this seemed to be how the two perceived the ghost's words; Elisabeth even guessed that perhaps this was some kind of early Halloween trick or treat activity prepared by the ball committee.
"Vale, lo prometo," *) she told the Mexican boy as an answer to his request. Gregorí and Elisabeth went out the Ballroom, but not without kind of worrying whether his best friend Andrew and his dance partner tonight Akari could find them somehow. The four had, in any case, planned to meet again at the masquerade after the Mexican and the Belizean bid the American and the English a "see-you-later" at the costume party.

Unlike last year’s events, Calanthe was actually interested in attending this Masquerade Ball. Thoughts of the soirée attracted her. An evening of mystery and intrigue, faces hidden behind masks like secrets that the Hogwarts kids would either hide as if their lives depended on it, or display in attempts to be noticed by their infatuations. Calanthe would not be partaking in the latter, instead opting to drift quietly to the corners of the room, concealed by the shadows of taller figures. The girl only wished she had the foresight to pick out a more camouflaging mask. The intricate pattern of the one she was currently wearing left little ambiguity. To be fair, Calanthe chose the mask in anticipation of being less of a wallflower on the night of the ball, but her mind was changed, as always, when she set foot outside the common room. In fact, it took the young witch a long time to even work up the courage to leave her dorm.
When she arrived at the ballroom, things were already in full swing - in terms of both dancing and punching. Reminded of the Blossom Ball last year, Calanthe was ready to leave before she entered. Though she threw herself into the room before she could, the girl was happy for the distraction of the phantom riding in on a horse and spewing words that sounded like a perfect D&D campaign setup. Anxiety subsiding, she noticed several people following the ghost and chased after them, leaving the ballroom and its participants behind.

He was making small talk, being charming. He knew the right words to say, how to smile and how to look both vulnerable and mischievous when warranted. It was not a lie, not entirely. The best lies were always half-truths afterall. "The perfume speaks the language of flowers," he explained simply. A language that was used by poets, scholars and of course witches. He was far from an expert on the matter of delicate blooms, which suggested sorrow and misery and which innocence and vitality. He was however, a Ravenclaw and therefore learned. "My thoughts filled with marigolds," he mentioned absentmindedly before he offered the girl a dance.
Did he know how to dance? Of course he did. "Being a pureblood has it's advantages I suppose," he assured her. Comparatively he was quite tall, being a fifth year. His date was rather small, not as small as his previous date of course. At this rate her would never look a girl in the eye. Dancing was a simple art, one that most overcomplicated. Move with confidence and purpose, be it because the steps have been repeated so many times that they have become souless second nature or because the dancer was a creative spirit capable of finding form in the sound. Vladimir was neither, he was simply confident.
Hands to her hips. Do not slouch. Each step fluid and with a purpose, even if the purpose was unknown to the dancer. Guide with the hands where her feet should follow. A turn, a step. The point was to be seen, to be noticed. "Let me know if we are moving too fast," in terms of dancing, not their relationship. She knew how to dance, of course that made this ruse easier. There was a natural or perhaps practiced grace. And lift. A light pressure on the sides, he lifted her from the floor (strength 10) with relative ease and turned.
He would see some familiar faces at the ball, hear familiar... well he had a way of getting into heads. "Fortune smiles upon me," presuming they were still dancing. "Where was it that you learned to dance?" A presumption that she knew rather than she pretended. Not that he was unlearned in that regard, but he was not a ballerina either. His confidence was his talent. Something most lacked.
His attention was in truth divided. The last time he attended a ball, a trap was set for him, he was shamelessly attacked by several youths. His friends robbed. He held his own, the same could not be said of Victor Moore. Marion was devastated by that incident. He would notice @Selim Faust in the crowd.
There were no words, not the audible sort. Just a tickle in Selim's head. He did not call him Selim or even Faust, he called the youth 'Fangs.' Odd, truly.
He would also see another familiar face, @Rafael D'Spacito. The boy had attacked him during the last ball. Brazen and foolish. "I should warn you," Vladimir would mention almost casually. Little seemed to superficially bother him. "One of the Hogwarts school bullies has been eying us for some time," a lie of course. He would nod his head in the direction of the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. He was of course enjoying his own diversions at the moment, not that it mattered. Proof was secondary to the accusation. "He is prone to violent outbursts, there is something wrong in his head I am afraid. Obsessed with Potter, a bit delusional at times" He did not seem concerned despite the dangerous content of his words. "If he comes our way, it will be to start a fight. It is best to not engage in such brutish acts which are far too common in Hogwarts I am afraid. It is best to just find a Professor."
An unsettling warning,a mere seed planted. It, like everything had a purpose. He took another deep breath of the sweet scent she wore. No, it did not matter if D'Spacito came for him.The chances were slim unless the situation became advantageous, but he would be a fool to believe that this night would go on without incident. in fact, he planned on it.
