Hogwarts Express Y1
Louisa Jane Diggory walked nervously through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4.
"Today's the day sweetheart" her mum had the biggest grin on her face.
"Mum don't! it's embarrassing and I'm already really nervous" said Louisa.
"Don't worry Lou, we told you. You have my brains, your mum's loving nature, you'll be fine. Whatever house you get put in, it isn't the end of the world." said her dad. "We just want you to be happy. Like we were"
The mother shot him a nervous glance "... err, well you know, just try hard in your lessons and make friends."
Louisa looked up and down the platform, people were running all over the place. First, second, third years... how was she going to make friends. It felt like a lot of pressure to be put under all at once.
She kissed her parents and little sister goodbye and stepped on the train.
Everyone was making their way to compartments and waving but she couldn't seem to find anywhere to sit. Everywhere was full. She walked up and found a spot with some older boys in it.
"Excuse me, do you mind if I..." she started but was pushed on by a tall fiery haired girl.
"KEEP MOVING!!!" she cried. Louisa felt all panicked. In the next compartment there were 2 girls with their robes already on.
"Oh Hello, can I sit here?" she asked
"First year are you?" asked one of the girls looking her up and down.
" umm, yes, actually"
"course you can. we are in Hufflepuff, second year now, we can tell you all you need to know!"
"I'm Louisa, Jane, Diggory, call me Lou, my mum was a Hufflepuff." Louisa felt pleased with the way she had presented herself... although maybe too formal... she wasn't sure.
"Well Lou, what you really need to know is that the food is brilliant and you can afford to eat tons of it because it takes so long to get to each class!!!"
Louisa sighed slightly with a small laugh, these girls seemed nice but food wasn't exactly her main concern.
"I'm more into healing charms and potions. my parents work at St Mungo's and I want to understand all that they do." She suddenly felt excited.
"Well you'll have to wait a bit but you'll learn a bit. The first potion we did in our first year was the cure for boils. not exactly exciting but if you like that kind of thing..."
They spent the rest of the journey eating and chatting, a few people came in at various occasions and Louisa saw how welcoming each of them were. It was a lot to take in though and didn't stop. She had always liked her own company and by the end of the journey the constant talking was giving her a headache.
