One Ordinary Day, With Herbs
This title is a play on the title of a short story by Shirley Jackson: One Ordinary Day, With Peanuts
Interacting with: @William Wells
The sun was dazzlingly bright they Autumn day, reflecting off of the young Gryffindors shiny brown hair. She was walking down to herbology, not rushing, but not taking her time either. Her books were slung under her arm, and the soft breeze rustled the leaves that were making their descent down to the ground for winter. It was a perfectly weathered day, and she wasn’t particularly upset about anything, other than life in general, but then again if there wasn’t something to be upset about, the day would be legendary at that.
She had taken to loving her herbology lessons, as they gave her a chance to go outdoors and give her an alternate view on the wizarding world. So many students here were too eager to learn the hexes and jinxes that they didn’t pay attention to the other subjects, such as herbology and astronomy, which Paisley felt were much more interesting. She and her wand hadn’t exactly gotten off on the right foot, and her grades weren’t looking too well at the moment. At least I can fix that. She told herself.
After a quick hop skip and a jump she had reached the correct greenhouse, and after a few curious glances in an alternate greenhouse, in which she was not supposed to enter, and was one of the first people inside the class. She always tried to be early by at least 5 minutes, to make a good impression.
One boy entered class late, his robes on sideways and his hair in a messy mop on top of his head. Paisley, along with the entire class, turned to steee at him until he came to his seat. To the young girl’s displeasure, he sat down right next to her.
Today they were learning about a rather interesting type of plant, and Paisley listened, enraptured the entire time. She couldn’t wait to start working herself, but when she heard they were working in partners, she sighed dejectedly. She would have to work with the late kid.

One Ordinary Day, With Herbs
Slumping down in the chair I vaguely hear the professor rambling on about something. The snobby Gryffindor girl next to me let’s out a dramatic sigh and begins to look at me.
I start to thumb through my book liking for a page with some picture or something to draw on. These classes always take forever. The girl is still looking over at me expectingly. Is she going to say something or just gawk at me. Do I have something on my face? I did have to eat breakfast in a hurry on my way down here. I’ll just casually hold up my book and wipe my mouth.
There was nothing there what is this girls problem?
Looking around I see the rest of the class starting to do something together. It looks like they are working in pairs. I bet that why miss high and mighty is looking at me. Bah paired up with her this day could not get worse. I guess this is my punishment for being late.
“This herbology class is kind of a joke. I wouldn’t trust this guy to cut the grass on the quidditch field. I wasn’t listening to him anyway. What are we suppose to do?”

One Ordinary Day, With Herbs
Paisley was stunned at the Slytherin’s words, and for a few moments she stood there, gawking. ”Uh...I like Herbology. Also, Professor MacTavish is great. Anyways, we’re supposed to cut these leaves, and compare our samples. We’re already behind, although not that it matters.” she said quietly, under her breath. She wasn’t one for working in partners, or talking to people in general, when it came down to it.Interacting with: @William Wells
Quickly she picked up her clippers, put on her gloves, and started to snip at the branches and leaves with as much grace an 11 year old could have. Herbology was her favorite subject, and when she was interested in something, she practiced.
They young Gryffindor allowed a strand of hair to fall into her face, blocking her view of the hateful boy who disliked Herbology, supposingly. “So, what’s your name?” she asked after awhile of working. She was struggling with a particularly annoying branch, which she scoffed at. ”could you help me with this?” she demanded, but then immediately fixed it. “Sorry. I’m not mad at you. I’m mad at the bush.” she explained, turning bright red in the process.
”Do you have any hobbies? Obviously it’s not Herbology, so what do you like? Quidditch, maybe?”

@Paisley Brown
This girls is super lame kind of a Brainiac but if I play my cards right she will do all the work on this assignment. BETTER YET if we become friends she may do all my work for me. So how do I play this... I guess i should say something nice about this class since she seems to like it.
"I guess herbology is not too bad. Its just always get confused about the different plants so it can be quite frustrating and I have a hard time listening to the professor. There is just something about his voice that is soothing to me so I tend to drift off.
There that should help smooth things over. Now she said something else about a hobby. I don't have a hobby they are lame. I need something...
"I play wizards chess from time to time if I can find an opponent. I can hold my own most of the time."
Now I should ask her about herself girls seem to like that.
"what about you? What do you do for fun? Long walks looking for new plants?"
Probably should not of said that. It may have come across to snarky. I need this girl to be my friend.
"I like walking through the woods myself but looking for critters and stuff."
Critters and stuff what are you five? You dork you have blown it. Good luck doing all your own work for the rest of your time here.
