Two girls had come over to the pumpkin carving area, Lea sneaking glances at them while continuing to work on her pumpkin. It was almost gutted, making a face as she noticed her hands covered in pumpkin innards. Napkins were now on the top of her list for things to do/get at the party.
It was when others joined that the girl left. The hufflepuff had no particular interest in getting pelted with pumpkin and didn't really know either group there. So while there was a sense of needing to right a wrong, Lea didn't have any connection with them and was a rather petite first year. So the girl would slink off, instead, deciding to continue her quest of searching for napkins.
Napkins also brought her to food. And during her exploration of looking at the ground rather than looking at people, the first year would notice the chocolate frogs bouncing about. Careful not to step on the bouncing chocolate, she would gaze at the assortments of food that she could have while grabbing onto a napkin and quickly wiping her hands off.
The candies almost seemed to glow in her eyes, only just realizing that she wanted food- not hungry, but not full either. The name "Tricky Treats" made her a little skeptical, but the first year would pick up one of the cauldron cakes, biting into it. From there, it was only a few skips away (making sure not to run into people) that the hufflepuff could find wizard crackers, taking one and popping it open. The only thing now to do was to find another of those chocolate frogs and catch it. After the cauldron cake was finished, of course.

Interacting with @Alina Rosier, @Lucia Fox, and @Henry Knight.
Alexa watched the interaction between Alina and the French girl, coming to the realization that the other girl had thought Alina was actually her twin sister, Bella. Alexa hadn't realized that Bella had a reputation as someone who worried about blood status. That was so unlike Alina as to be almost foreign, literally. She wondered how else the twins differed; she had never met Bella when the other girl had gone to Hogwarts. Being a Muggle-born, she was almost glad now that she hadn't met her.
Alexa didn't say anything as the two straightened things out. She was about to speak, however, just to Alina, when a boy she didn't know approached the three of them. He began to speak in languages other than English, and Alexa was frustrated with her lack of knowledge. She had no idea what he was saying! But you mostly seem to be talking to the French girl anyway.
So Alexa turned to Alina, as Alina beckoned to someone in the crowd and said something that Alexa didn't catch. Feeling awkward, she said, "Alina, unless you wanted me to stay, I think I might go… There are so many people here," she added quietly. So many people she didn't know, was always made her feel awkward and shy.

10.16.20 → ic date♡ interacting with amadea [@Amadea Campbell] & delilah [@Delilah Stewart] ♡permission to godmod amadea was givenfrosty's outfit/costume!ReducioA brief exchange of compliments on each other's costumes was followed by greetings. As a few moments passed bewteen them, Frost could tell that she would have a great time tonight with Amadea. Gradually, thoughts that the night of the event might actually be normal trickled into her brain. Though it was most likely wishful thinking, Frost tended to be more optimistic than she should. It was never hurtful to hope, right?
Only a few seconds after Frost had asked Amadea if she had seen Delilah anywhere did the girl appear before them. Perhaps it was a fourth-year thing to be late to events. As the girl approached the pair, Frost beamed at Del. "Wow! You look awesome." She would exclaim excitedly upon seeing her costume. "The makeup does look like it took painfully long to look that good."
Amadea gave her greetings to Delilah as well. In her head, Frost thought about how lucky she was to have been able to spend the night with these girls. With all three of them, they could probably take on the whole world. Respectfully and politely take on the world, of course. Snapping out of it as Del asked what was going on, the girl glanced at the chocolate frogs all about the room. "Honestly, I've got no idea." Frost shook her head gently. "Oh not at all, we both got here only a few moments ago, I think."
"I-" Frost did not get much farther. Past all of the chaos and commotion happening at the costume party, the girl spotted something. To be fair, a ghost-looking cat is pretty hard to miss. As soon as she was about to say 'Do you see that or am I just crazy', her question was answered by other students and party-goers' responses to the cat.
Frost's earlier thoughts of this event finally going to be a normal one were soon diminished. Did they hear what the group of kids following the cat was saying? 'Doom' and 'tragedy' along with 'what can we do to stop it' were not signs of a normal night. She looked to Del and Amadea, Amadea seeming to have the same idea as her, she didn't know if Delilah was interested. "Do you guys want to go see what's up?" If there's trouble, that means someone could get hurt. Awaiting Delilah's answer, Frost and Amadea were already starting to follow the cat.
The three of them, should Del have answered 'yes' would be on their way.action leaving the party with amadea [and maybe del, waiting for her post] to go to the hunt✿

OPEN TO INTERACTIONS!

Glee turned to surprise as Jo suddenly felt her head grow heavy. Not as in the tired sort of heavy but... physically heavy. Oh. Oh no. It was Pompion potion, wasn't it. She squeezed her eyes shut and waited for her head to swell up and turn bright orange. If it was half as painful as it looked, Jo was in for a very rough ride.Mentioning: @Evelynn Decipio @Pericles Dralt @Jake Morris @Jack Burnett @Solomon Lear
A few moments passed. The heaviness remained, but no pumpkin head emerged to disfigure her for the next 30 minutes or so. Had the chocolate frog she had dunked in her tea somehow worked to counteract the potion inside, leaving behind only the sensation of the potion but not its effects?
Of course, she thought. The frogs must contain some sort of common antidote to the potions, hence why they were released as an "accident!" Why else would somebody tip over and release so many valuable wizarding candies and not bother to pick them up? It made no sense, especially when there was probably a spell to do it for you, and there was even a professor was in the room! This all sounded very convoluted and twisty - Pericles' work, probably. It sounded just like the erudite falcon to come up with such a pretentious and yet genius mini-mystery. The treats would be harmless, if eaten with the right thing. Ugh.
Now that she thought of it, she was probably right to decide against putting on her black cat ring. These treats were tricky, and the whole point of this you couldn't just go around trusting everyone and everything! Muggle media was full of stories about cursed jewelry and even evil rings, as made popular by one epic series. And there was even talk of some sort of cursed mask last year, although she'd never really gotten as much information about that incident as she wished. Peri had probably put merlin-knew-what-charm on the little gifts to see if the students would hesitate and use critical thinking skills or get carried away in the euphoria of the moment and impulsively slip on their jinxed and hexed presents. Whew! She'd really dodged a magical bullet there. If the effects of the ring didn't kill her mood entirely, embarrassing herself for the millionth time in front of the Ravenclaw by failing his little wisdom check would certainly do it. Jo took the ring from her purse, fingers casually brushing over her wand. She'd checked and double-checked it was there a few times during the night - she needed the extra security that it brought, especially now after the Blossom Ball. The black cat seemed innocuous enough, but you just never knew.
Speaking of which, the ghost cat that she had seen at the Masquerade Ball slunk into the room, accompanied by a bunch of students who were chattering furiously amongst themselves. Interesting...although this was towards the beginning of the ball, the cat had seemed to ignore any students, herself, included, who had tried to give it attention or affection. And yet now, it almost seemed to be leading the students somewhere. Jo took a step towards the students, only stopping when she realized the source of the heaviness that still accompanied her every move. Her rich auburn-brown hair (which any poor girl who ever had to share a mirror with the girl in the busy mornings knew she took impeccable care of) had shot down to almost floor-length. For the next few moments, Jo was so enraptured with her new (and definitely improved) appearance that she missed most of the students' excited chatter. She did not, however, miss one remark.
Gloom and tragedy? Jo's ears perked up with a morbid curiosity. Nothing said Halloween like gloom or tragedy. Both were a common occurrence at Hogwarts, but together? A treat to be sure."What did he mean with doom and tragedy?"
Or perhaps a trick? This could just as well be a set-up by the professors as a Halloween event. The cat might not be a ghost, but simply an enchanted hologram. Could Patronuses be controlled in this way? Jo had no idea - she hadn't learned about the charm yet in class. She did, know, however, that they were powerful spells, and this didn't sound too far-fetched. The cat would lead them to an obviously staged murder with some evident clues, they'd have their laugh (if they even could, considering how the real thing seemed to always be lurking nearby as the little badger Jake told her enemy. (He had said he didn't need her help since her already knew the boy, but with Jack that was never permanent. Jo told herself to keep an eye out for any trouble, just in case. Jack's friends probably meant as little to him as his enemies.) and all get together to "solve" the mystery. One student in the room or perhaps a professor (probably that mysterious clunky bearded professor in the armour, or the strange girl wearing all black armour who had been spying on everyone - geez, what was it with creepy people and armour?) was probably in on this, and they had been chosen as the "murderer" for the night. But even if it was only some innocent Halloween fun, knowing Hogwarts, there would probably be House Points awarded to the students who discovered the most clues or showed the most analytical creative thinking skills.
Either way it was better than being stuck here useless with Jack and Persephone to embarrass herself any further. Careful not to accidentally trip over the waterfall of hair that cascaded down her shoulders, Jo tiptoed out of the Costume Party in favor of a brave new adventure...or possibly a horrific death. One never could tell with Hogwarts.
ACTION: With a flip of her new, luscious locks, Jo leaves for the Hunt thread.

"Wait." Everything made sense now. The slightly different personality, the strange feeling that Cassie had gotten, the pumpkin... It all made sense. "You're the twin," Cassie said, as if twin was the answer to all the world's problems, wizarding and Muggle alike. Suddenly, she burst out laughing, resting her pumpkin-covered hands inside the pumpkin shell. "The twin," she repeated to herself, then added, "I'm so sorry lol" - yes, she said lol - "I never really thought-" she shook her head in bewilderment. "I'm Cassie." She introduced herself to both girls, seeing as it seemed Alina didn't know who she was any more than Alexa did. "Well, Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin really, but most people can't be bothered to say two first names and two last names, so mostly I stick with Cassie." Well, on the subject of nicknames... "Or Cassiopeia, sometimes. After the pirate. Slash Queen, slash constellation. Depends which way you look at it." She smiled.
Then, she saw the cat, and a group of students following it. Cassie smiled at the ghostly figure, but then heard the whispers following it and grinned. Doom and tragedy? "Ooh, count me in!" Cassie replied to Alina with a grin, and then saw a familiar figure entering the room, making his way over to her.
Cassie's feelings about Charles Alluring were a bit mixed at the moment. On one hand, he had practically abandoned her on the way to the costume party. On the other, she had practically abandoned him! But they hadn't exactly said they'd stay together all evening, had they? And tonight was for fun with friends, so if Charles wanted to have fun with his friends she wouldn't stop him. But she definitely didn't not want to see him right now - she'd have felt worse if he had avoided her.
"Hey, Charlie," she said with a geniune smile. "No, it's fine. And, sure." She looked towards the doorway, practically itching to join the cat, but decided the mystery could wait a moment. Just a moment. Charles excused themselves with a smile to the other two girls - Cassie was pleased to notice that he didn't even try to flirt with them - and the two went over to a corner, Cassie Heather abandoning her pumpkin for another day and smearing an unflattering orange all over her skirt.
A little flattered by the sudden rush of compliments, Cassie smiled. "Uh, thanks," she said. "But if you mean for staying at the ball, it's fine. I guess... We just have different interests." She snorted, then joked with a grin, "It's a wonder we're friends, really."
Cassie glanced over to the door. "Okay. But be quick, please. I want to go follow the ghost!" she grinned with infectious delight, not even considering that the statement might hurt Charles' feelings slightly. But that was true Cassie - always rushing onwards, onto the next thing, pulling her friends and family along with her.

"If you say so," Callista returned. She didn't really mind that Robert had declined her offer. Seeing as both Robert and Quinn had gone after the headmaster, Callista didn't really see a choice. She followed behind them.
Robert, the Ravenclaw first-year that she had exchanged owls with for quite some time but recently fell out of touch with, and Quinn, a new also first-year Ravenclaw acquaintance that Callista had just met tonight. Tonight will be an interesting night, she mused. Seeing Robert pick up a chocolate frog, Callista started paying more attention to the hopping chocolates.
Sadly, they did not come with the collectable cards, and Callista was not keen to eat something that had previously been playing lively on the floor. Robert, however, did not seem to have these concerns."生きているチョコレートカエル," Live chocolate frogs Callista murmured in Japanese. She sidestepped all the frogs.
However, before reaching the headmaster, a cat entered the room. And not just any cat, but a translucent, ghost cat. Normally, something that small would have gone unnoticed through the crowd, but it was the small group of students following it and the vague whispers that caught everyone's attention.
From what Callista managed to catch, it seemed that the students were confused and curious, and the babble seemed to mostly be made of questions. She noticed that a couple of people were joining the group, so she turned to Robert and asked, "Are you going to join them?"
It seemed that she was not, in fact, going to head to the masquerade. Callista slipped her hand into an inside pocket of her white cardigan. It had been sewn by her mother for this exact purpose. She didn't feel very comfortable with her wand, but they worked together and collaborated to make spells work.
Its core was ambiguous, and Callista was surprised at the strength of it, although thankfully she has surprisingly strong willpower. It was usable, but Callista was cautious with it. "Don't do anything reckless," she murmured to her wand. She got a few weird looks from some people nearby, but most of them ignored her.
Callista wanted to hear Robert's input before rushing off to an adventure, especially with her temperamental wand. Seriously, why did Callista get this wand? Hopefully, the potion would have worn off by now. Callista waited patiently as her wand buzzed in her concealed pocket.

This sapped all of Dan's sense. All he could do was weakly kick, and laugh. He started going red in the face, and it began to get difficult to breathe.
Finally, after minutes, Andy relented. Dan panted heavily, trying to catch his breath.
"You... adorable.... little.... bellend...."
Andy was lucky he was so cute.
Dan slowly sat up, and saw something enter the room... It looked like a kitty. And a lot of students were following it...
Dan was instantly intrigued.
"Oi, ye wanna check it out?"
Dan grabbed Andy's hand, grabbed his Batman mask, and led him toward the group.

Chaos was a constant state for Hogwarts, one that the Headmaster had grown accustomed to. Better loud than dead. He enjoyed watching the harmless effects of the candies. The sense of normalcy, albeit rowdiness of the children was a welcomed chaos. The Professor did nothing to save them from the terror that was chocolate frogs or slung food. It might be the pureblood in him that reasoned -- that is what house elves are for.
Of course the most interesting projectile was not the smelliest or the goopiest, a practiced connoisseur of battles in his youth. No, it was the most mobile. Solomon would attempt to scoop up a chocolate frog, the wiggly inanimate confection charmed to move about as if living was a strange curiosity that culture had made the norm. He had enjoyed these same treats as a young man. In fact, when the Heads of House were not looking, he partook in them still. His own immortalization an honor he shamelessly celebrated a decade earlier.
Grasped between his hands, the writhing, squirming frog. His hands stained in chocolate. The headmaster eyed his target, the buttoned up Prefect. Percival... no, there is a few of those but he is not one of them. Princeton? Close, he reasoned. He hurled the soft chocolate frog at @Pericles Dralt.

All was well. Chocolate, the decorations, the music playing in the background which of course he still couldn't figure out, the ghost cat.... wait a minute, ghost cat?Logan had seen a lot of weird things when he got to Hogwarts. But this was really weird. As he looked at it, he almost fell backwards and choked on the chocolate that was still in his mouth."Dè fo shealbh?"
He got motioned by one to come over to her table. He came but his eyes never left the feline. As he sat down by her, he said, well, he kinda said utter gibberish. He scowled at the chocolate that must have done this to him and then he tossed it over his shoulder.
Here's the problem: How the heck is someone supposed to talk with his mouth obeying him?.... Got it! Sign language.
He just pointed to the cat, then gave Alina a thumbs up. He didn't know cats could be ghosts. He thought only people could do that. He got the feeling that this wasn't the weirdest things he would see at Hogwarts.
"I'm have to find out what the heck this is." he thought. He saw a bunch of students going out to do the same so he popped his mask back on and ran out the door

The situation with the other girl was finally making sense since she thought she was her twin sister Bella but it did still disappoint her to know of her sister's reputation at Beauxbatons and how she still was going down that same spiral path that Slytherin started her on.
The girl got called away by a boy she met at the Lake once and she looked over to Alexa but then they were distracted by that shimmering ghost cat. Alina already loved cats QUITE a lot. She had her portrait cat Artemindora and her kittens and some day she hoped to have a real cat of her own. This cat, while a ghost, was so beautiful that it took her attention away for a moment.
"Alexa...did you hear that? Tragedy? Doom?" she looked over to her redhead friend and just then Logan came to their side, having seen her call him over to her. He wasn't saying much, but looked to the cat and gave her a thumbs up and she figured that meant he planned to follow. As it was said, someone had to do something or tragedy and doom.
What could they do? She knew what she couldn't do...stand by and do nothing while her school, her second home, and her friends were threatened. "I'm coming, too," she said to Logan and then looked to her redheaded friend. "Please come as well?" Alexa was her dueling partner and she'd feel safer with her by her side. Plus, they were kind of an adventure team.
Action: Exiting the Costume Party to join the Hunt with Aemadall (Logan) Zarcovich and hopefully Alexa Mackenzie.
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.
