Boarding the train
"1st September, here we go", Verner thought to himself. Remembering April and his 11th birthday, letting his mind recall the memories vividly, Verner's mind returned to the day he was told about magic. The most interesting part of it was he was also a magician, and there was supposed to be a school for magicians. From the moment he was told, he spent half of his time wondering if this was reality, the other half filled with anticipation and curiosity. But it was finally 1st September and there he was, at the King's Cross station, accompanied by his muggle parents. Platform 9 and 3/4 and was crowded, buzzing with families, apparently sending off their children to Hogwarts. People were rushing along the train, boarding with their trunks and cages, looking for a place to sit, saying good bye to parents. Some older children already meeting with friends, happily discussing among themselves.
The day was certainly going to be different. He would leave his parents behind for quite some time, and it was time to say good bye. The train would be leaving soon. Verner turned back to his father, hugged him and squeezed his hand as men do, and hugged his mother kissing her cheeks. His mother might have had a tear in her eyes, but both Verner's parents smiled and wished him luck and asked him to write back soon. He waved at them and pulled his trunk inside the train.
And as the train started to move, Verner pulled his trunk behind through the corridors, looking for a compartment where he could sit. Any compartment would do just fine, if it was empty. "Finally" he sighed, opened a door and pushed the trunk inside. He made himself comfortable close to the window and started to read one of the school books.

Boarding the train
Reese was out of breath by the time she finally reached the train, just in the nick of time. After hopping on board, she paused for a moment, readjusting her clothes to look as they had before her frantic rush. Despite her efforts, her clothes and hair remained looking frazzled, and with a sigh, she gave up and continued on. Tentatively, she approached each compartment and inconspicuously peered within, searching for the one with the most welcoming faces. As she did so, her mind began to wander to the earlier events of the day.
Her and her parents had puzzled over platform 9 and 3/4 for at least half an hour, her parents visiting and revisiting maps of the station, Reese zipping about wildly and triple-checking each platform for any sign of the correct train.
With only minutes to spare, a kind passerby had overheard their dilemma and showed the family the proper way to platform 9 and 3/4. Before running through the pillar that served as a doorway to the magical platform, Reese hugged each of her parents tightly, tears pricking her eyes. She quickly wiped them away though, refusing to let them see her off in a fit of tears. No, this was the happiest moment of her life, and there was no time for sad farewells.
Her father had glanced at his watch, and abruptly began pushing her along. The sweet goodbyes turned into promises to write often, and with that, Reese waved and ran along to platform 9 and 3/4.
Reese was abruptly stolen from her thoughts as the train began to move. Panicked, she thrust open the door to the first compartment she came by and pushed her trunk inside. It was nearly empty, except for the presence of a boy around her own age who had quietly been reading a book. She wondered if he had meant to be alone, and worried that she was bothering him.
Taking a seat across from him, she shyly introduced herself.
"Sorry to burst in so suddenly. I'm Reese. Reese Quimbly. What's your name?"

Boarding the train
Interacting with @Reese Quimbly
Just as Verner begun to read, he was interrupted by a loud noise. The door to the compartment opened. Somebody, that is a petite red haired girl, has entered and dragged her trunk inside. Verner's eyes observed and followed her movement curiously, awaiting what would happen next.
She was probably struggling with the weight or maybe she was trying to keep her balance still because of the train movement. He would, of course, help her, firstly because it was polite to do so and also because of his upbringing. His father always told him to be polite and helpful to girls, but the opportunity did not come just yet.
His mind like usual when meeting strangers for the first time was trying to process quickly what impression she gives him and to gauge the person in front of him. Based on that he would adjust and determine his actions.
And so far the impressions were she probably was in a similar situation as him, not knowing anybody else on the train, and by the looks of how she boarded the train she probably also struggled with either getting to the platform 9 and 3/4 or to the train.
Before Verner could offer her help, she put the trunk away onto a shelf and sat herself in front of him.
*"Oh, hello,"* Verner replied to her greeting trying to sound less nervous than he was and to make his voice sound neutral and polite. Hopefully he could make a good impression. His eyes behaving not unlike a cat's have still been paying attention to the surroundings, the girl and the door, all at the same time.
*"My name is Verner Llf"*, he said and stood up outstretching his hand in greeting.
To her unvoiced question if she was bothering him or whether he wanted to stay alone he replied *"No worries, you are welcome to sit anywhere you like"* he continued thinking further *"I suppose you are also a first year?"* and *"Are you looking forward to Hogwarts?"* He smiled. And in his mind he fell back to his usual calm, thinking for himself *"let's wait and see"*...
