How would she get all the masks off everyone? It was an interesting question, and Cassie took a moment to think before she answered. "Invisibility cloak? Or... Wassit called... pol-juice potion?"
When she mentioned the awesome-sounding costume party, Charles stopped walking, and began to breathe heavily. Cassie looked over at him and frowned. "You okay?" she asked, concerned, reverting back to English as she often did when worried. Her parents often told her to speak English and French equally, so as to never forget either, and the McGregor-Martins spoke a mixture at home, but English was the language Cassie used automatically. French took thinking about.
She put her hands on her friend's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "Breathe, okay?" she ordered, before retracting her grip.
"Wait, what?!" Cassie said with a frown as Charles began to walk away, walking backwards. "I-"
The girl was torn between staying with her friend, and going to a place she would enjoy. But Charles seemed to make up her mind for her and turned away. "Charlie-" she called, wanting to say something but unsure what.
As the Durmstrang boy walked away, Cassie turned towards the entrance and made her way out, waving at her friend Scarlett on the way.
Cassie Heather entered the costume party by herself, feeling a strange mixture of excitement and letdown. Let's make the most of it, she thought. Anything, surely, was better than the masquerade ball, with its stuffy atmosphere and posh purebloods. The muggleborn's eyes sparkled with delight as she was told about the tricks, and immediately went over to the table of treats.
But there was just so much to do! Cassie spun on the spot, trying in vain to figure out what was happening. The room was packed, no-one seemed to know what was going on, and there was an unmistakable sense of joy in the room. Cassie inhaled deeply. This was what she liked.
She noticed a crowd of chocolate frogs bounding through the crowd, laughed, and bent down to pick one up before biting its head off. Sorry, little guy. There was even a food fight going on, and Cassie laughed in astonishment. She was sorely tempted to go and join in (it wasn't like she cared about the dress she wore anyway) but soon saw someone she recognised.
A girl she was pretty sure was Bella Rosier was next to a boy she didn't recognise, and Cassie frowned as she watched them. The girl then broke off and went over to the pumpkins. Cassie went to join her, and sat next to her on the floor with a complete disregard for how dirty her skirt might get. "Hey, Princess, didn't think you were really one for costume parties," Cassie said in a mix of light jest and confusion, pulling a pumpkin towards herself and pushing her rosary bracelet further up her wrist. The Bella she knew was more one to float in the ball with a date, not carve pumpkins by herself at a costume party. Maybe she had a secret side to herself that Cassie didn't know about? That would certainly be a welcome change. "Or pumpkins, to be honest," the muggleborn added, picking up a saw and gliding it through the top of the pumpkin, looking rather surprised at how easy it was. She then reached in and began pulling out pumpkin seeds and dripping them into a bucket, getting her hands covered in the process.

Interacting with @Alina Rosier.
Alexa felt foolish. She knew Alina was going to this event in the Rehearsal Room, and that was the only reason she was going. Alexa wasn't exactly one you would call social, certainly not socially adept. She was most likely to stand in a corner blushing and not talking to anyone out of sheer embarrassment. But since she knew her friend would be there, that would be at least someone to talk to.
The other reason she felt foolish was that she didn't have a costume. She didn't even own makeup at 12 to draw on cat whiskers or something else absurd. She didn't mind costumes, she just hadn't really planned on going to this party. So instead she wore a red fall sweater and jeans, and her scuffed trainers.
She walked slowly into the room, and was slightly overwhelmed by its decorations, and by how everyone was dressed. Definitely felt foolish! What was she doing here, in a sweater? What an idiot, she thought, as she hesitated by the doorway. She almost turned to go, when she saw Alina alone at a table full of pumpkins. Raising her chin slightly, she moved across the room to her friend, weaving between people, and hoping they wouldn't notice her.
She stopped beside her greatest friend at Hogwarts. "Hey. So, I came," she said obviously, and blushed again. She was always blushing with embarrassment. "You look amazing," she told Alina with a warm smile.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
She was looking over the front of her pumpkin, trying to decide what she should transform it into when she heard the voice. At first she wasn't sure if it was directed to her but the French caught her attention and then she thought about the frilly embellished fancy white dress she had on and it certainly looked as if she was going for a princess theme as far as costumes were concerned. She glanced up to see a girl she hadn't seen before.
Alina wondered if the girl had seen her around though, as it seemed she knew her perhaps. Maybe it was like how Alina knew some of the other students at Hogwarts even if she hadn't spoken with them - knew them through a mutual friend or saw them interacting during free time in the Courtyard and such.
"The Masquerade did appeal to me a little more," she spoke honestly, and in French. That always came easier to her as it was what was spoken in the Rosier residence and their native tongue. "But here I am...with this pumpkin," and her eyes lifted for just a moment to find Logan in the crowd. She hoped that she didn't hurt his feelings but really, she needed a bit of breathing room at the moment and that consisted currently of her still whole pumpkin and this new girl who was already well on her way into her pumpkin designing process.
If she were Bella, the girl was absolutely right...she'd be in the Ballroom the entire time, trying to show off her old world fancy dances, her expensive dress, entertain not only one but maybe two or three boys! Bella was quite something and the girls were becoming more and more opposites with each passing year.

”Thank you so so much” Akari responded humbly to Elisabeth’s compliment about her dress. Cinderella’s dress... What a sweet comparison that was.
Glad that the lot of them had agreed to go with her to get something from the table Akari made her way over and once she arrived she made a b-line toward the butterbeer and reached out for a glass of the creamy golden beverage and then immediately brought it to her lips, but very carefully, making sure nothing would spill. Imagine that, spilling the drink all over her fancy blue dress. Akari shuddered at the thought. What a catastrophe that would be... and even the idea of it was awfully embarrassing. She was so engrossed in worrying about making a mess she wasn't paying attention to the fact that Gregori and Elisabeth were off speaking in Spanish... or anything else for that matter, until Jess posed that question.
She nearly choked on her drink while her face turned a light shade of crimson as Jess leaned over and whispered in her ear. She lowered the cup while licking her lips for the remainder of the drink as she gazed into the rest of the foamy liquid, intent on not making eye contact with her friend since she wasn’t exactly sure what to answer. ”Well... I...“ She replied taking her sweet time to get the full sentence out in the hope that something would come up and she didn’t have to complete it. As luck would have it she saw Jess grabbing one of those suspicious looking desserts giving her the perfect opportunity to change the subject. Although she made a promise to herself that she would tell Jess everything eventually.
”Wait! Careful I think those caused— She stopped, it was too late and Jess had already popped a chocoball into her mouth. Akari’s eyes widened slightly waiting to see if something would happen.
She still had an expression that looked quite concerned as Drew came back over to them
”I know right, it's delicious. I think it might just be one of my favourite drinks” She told him but was a tad distracted from still examining Jess.
After Drew told her and Jess that the other pair decided on leaving the costume party Akari nodded then briefly peeled her eyes away from her friend and glanced over to the couple and then waved back at Elisabeth before turning to answer Drew. “I think, if it’s alright, I’ll just finish my drink and then we can go join them?”

This girl certainly looked like Bella Rosier, and sounded like her too, but Cassie couldn't shake the feeling that there was something distinctly un-Bella-ish about her. As the muggleborn listened to the other girl, she continued to scoop seeds from her pumpkin. It was taking longer than she had thought it would, but she was faster than some of the other students, who seemed to be worried about getting their hands messy. Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin, on the other hand, had no such qualms, and was completely satisfied in covering her palms in pumpkin.
"I'm surprised you haven't run off screaming yet," Cassie said with a little sideways on look at 'Bella'. "Isn't that what you lot do when faced with us 'unsavoury mudblood scum'?" The said 'unsavoury mudblood scum' pondered this for a second. "Or maybe it was just 'mudblood scum', I don't remember. Or 'scummy mudblood'? They're all the same to me." It was true; Cassie barely had time to pay attention with the insults purebloods threw at her, what with all her other activities. They weren't very imaginative, anyway. The least they could do, in Cassie's opinion, was come up with some interesting insults for once.
Realistically, however, Cassie didn't know Bella Rosier's thoughts on blood purity, seeing as the two hadn't spoken very much, but the other girl often hung around with the popular purebloods at Beauxbatons, which lead Cassie Heather to believe that she shared their views.

She didn't know what to say to the girl. Sure, most of the Rosiers were that way historically and especially someone like her grandmother but Alina herself certainly wasn't and never tried to give off such an image. "Mu... Mu..." she paused because she couldn't even say the word. Some of her favorite people were muggleborns!
Just then she saw Alexa coming her way and approaching. Like Alexa! She was a muggleborn and one of Alina's best friends! "You must be mistaken," she finally spoke up to the other girl. "I have nothing against muggleborns. I find their lifestyle quite fascinating," and she smiled a little to Alexa, glad to see her but wishing it wasn't when some unfamiliar girl was being unkind.
"Right, Alexa?" she didn't know if she needed someone coming to her defense or not. Was this girl just trying to mess with her? "I haven't treated you differently because you're muggleborn, have I?" Of course not. There wasn't a doubt in her mind even with all the scattered thoughts she had lately. She adored everyone, despite their differences. In fact, it was the differences that made life wonderful and everyone unique.
She looked back to the pumpkin but didn't feel so much like carving it anymore so her mind shut off trying to think of what design she would need.
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.

The Fall Ball (Costume Party)
Dan was clutching his sides, continuing to laugh. No matter what he tried, it wouldn't stop! He couldnt stop laughing, he couldn't think straight, he couldn't even properly ask someone for help or beg someone to make it stop!
At the very least, it still wasn't a tickle potion. So there was that silver lining.
Dan was able to faintly hear the sound of light slapping on the floor, due to being on it, but he could barely see through all the laugh induced tears.
He wiped the tears away and found loads of chocolate frogs just hopping all over the place. For the life of him, Dan could not fathom how in the world live chocolate frogs had caught on in the wizarding world. Nor could he understand how this idea even happened. Who would want to eat alive frog made of chocolate?
Well, besides him and Andy and people who grew up with them.
Then he saw Andy fall over and stand up, and burst into even harder laughter.
Dan pointed.
"Ye lard look ya sat yer snuff!!!"
Dan had meant to say that Andy looked like he shat himself, but that bit of nonsense was actually quite close. Maybe Andy would get what he said...
But that was the extent of his sight, as his eyes were flooding with laughing tears again. When was this going to stop?! He hadn't closed his mouth in MINUTES!
But then, Dan had a MAJOR surprise. There he was, continuing to laugh, and suddenly, he felt something land inside his mouth. To his shock, he tasted chocolate! A chocolate frog had hopped into his mouth!
He tried to chew so that it would die, but he couldn't close his mouth from laughing. Dan started to panic, thinking the frog was going to go further down and choke him to death.
Thankfully, the frog seemed to just be chilling in his mouth. So MAYBE it wouldn't kill him.

Ruka had heard the compliment thrown at him by the Eagle Costumed boy he didn't think he could recognise from anywhere, but the only reaction elicited from him was an ungraceful snort and the shake of his head. All compliments were better directed at his brother anyway who had come up with the concept in the first place, so Ruka didn't think he could even answer with any genuine gratitude.
Instead he had made his own path between people, into the midst of the crowd until he had managed to come to a halt next to Jack, who clearly had no regrets about putting his older brother into a dress for this very public school event. On the contrary, he seemed positively delighted with the whole situation, floating a few inches above the floor as he threw a candy into the laughing dark haired girl's mouth after greeting Ruka gleefully.
"Madness sounds just about right," the Gryffindor mused, gaze drifting across the blonde girl he was sure he recognised correctly. Alice in Wonderland she was supposed to be then, loving and gentle as described by her creator. What a mask to hide behind. "Seems to me like you fit right in then." His attention returned to Jack, eyebrows raised. Madness, with all its awful connotations spoke of a lack of restrictions, no inhibitions, a world the way one dreamed to make it. Ruka could see his brother being drawn to that and making himself a home there. King of the Mad with his feathered crown and a wicked smile like that of Lucifer seconds before falling from Heaven.
It had been far from Ruka's mind to pull Jack from his natural habitat, but it seemed that the dark haired girl's quest for someone to help with her current condition of madness had caused the Slytherin to pursue his own premature departure, judging by the voice echoing in Ruka's head. He could have thought Jack had been speaking right into his ear had his mouth not been shut into the line of a bemused smile all the while.
Ah yes, I think it's about time for you to antagonise some more people at the second party of the night, he thought, accompanied by a light roll of his eyes as Jack turned his back to approach the next person who caught his interest.
This one, Ruka could actually safely recognise, and he was quick to catch up with his brother, feet dangling above the ground lazily as he steered the invisible broom the right way, just to poke the handle against Jack's ribs to let him know where it was in case he wanted to hop on at any point. "Does he?", he asked, eyeing Jake curiously in all his froggy glory. "I must've missed the one dressed up as an amphibian." Pulling some more glitter from the little bag around his neck, Ruka smiled lightly as he flew a little higher to shower the young frog-badger in some of the pixie dust before halting next to Jack again. "Enjoying your night, Jake?" he asked gently. "I should certainly hope so. With the help of this pixie dust, some happy thoughts might just make you fly!" He whispered the last part in the frog's direction as if it were some grand secret he was being told, then leaned back, both hands steadying himself on the broom handle. "Just be careful not to fly into too much trouble."
Eyes scanned the room for a moment, glanced at wayward chocolate frogs and the result of a small food fight. "Or into pumpkin guts, for that matter."

After Andrew promised he would catch up with them later at the masquerade, Gregorí gently said to Elisabeth, "Come on, let's go to the dance." The Hogwarts girl smiled and waved see-you-later to Drew and the other two as a response, while Gregorí himself preferred to tell them, "Right, see you guys later." He did not bother to wave; he would rather speak to them.
On the way out, Elisabeth actually accidentally hit a boy in a frog costume since she was very excited that they were going dancing, something Gregorí knew very well she loved.
For some people, her hitting the other kid on accident might be interpreted as clumsy or awkward, but Gregorí actually liked it. Somehow, seeing Elisabeth merry made him happy as well, and he loved the way she expressed her feelings. Thus, he just smiled - almost laughed, actually - when the incident took place.
She apologized and quickly made sure that no harm was done; and all this time, Gregorí had stopped in his track to wait for her. He did not do anything but to wait. When Elisabeth finally finished apologizing, she approached the Mexican boy again, and the two went out of the rehearsal room to enter the ballroom.

Alexa stared at the other girl who had appeared at the party with apprehension. She seemed French; maybe she was an exchange student from that wizarding school in France… What was it called again? The Academy? She couldn't remember.
No matter where she was from, Alexa really didn't like what she was saying about Muggle-borns… She seemed like a very negative person, and Alexa suddenly became very embarrassed, being a Muggle-born… She had never really worried about her before, she hadn't had to put much thought into it, because no one had treated her differently. ESPECIALLY Alina, as this French girl seemed to be implying.
Blushing, Alexa looked down at the pumpkin in front of her. She hadn't started carving yet, and quietly laid down the knife beside it, ready to slip away, hiding her face behind her hair. But then Alina spoke, spoke to her, and Alexa looked up. Her face still burning, she said, "No, you've never treated me differently. And that means a lot to me." She turned to the other girl, suddenly feeling a little braver. "Blood status has nothing to do with magical ability, you know. Plenty of Muggle-borns are better witches and wizards than purebloods," she said quietly, her voice shaking slightly with withheld anger and nerves.
