Santario nodded when Xail commented on the spiders, but she directed the information at both of the Gryffindors. “They weren’t really spiders. They were shadows that looked, acted, and felt like them; I think they were controlled by hags somehow. They disappeared when Glen cast an extremely bright Lumos, but not before many of us were bitten and cursed. I was lucky enough not to get bitten, but it was very close.” The memory of the spider being accidentally flung onto her face was not as terrible as it used to be, but it was still fresh in her mind. She wasn’t surprised that the other snakes were tightlipped, but with information like this, it was not a time to hide knowledge; their lives were at stake.

Santario frowned as she caught a glimpse of footprints pointing at them. “I think the doll just tried to kill her. Look at these tiny prints at our feet.” Santario was decently observant, but she was no tracker; it was always easier to see something just at your feet than it was to follow a trail. “Don’t you think your lives are more important than the information we can gain from it? What if you get the information, but it kills you before you can do anything with it? There has to be a better way.” Santario was concerned for Xailah because it seemed like she might be more attached than she wanted to let on, but San didn’t know her that well.

Before Santario had continued to help start looking, Meenauh had already found the thing, and Santario moved a little closer wanting to look at it. It was indeed an exact replica of the other Gryffindor, but it was so unsettling. Santario made no move to stop Meenauh from dropping the doll into the bluebell flames but only took a step back with her wand in her hand. Ready just in case the doll exploded or something.
Action| Readied to cast the extinguishing charm, just in case.

Xailah nodded swiftly, and winced slightly at the frostiness of Meenauhs voice. Yes they needed to find it. The Slytherin elaborated on an odd topic that she had brought up- the common room spiders. Said that they weren't quite spiders- more like living shadows, that only mimicked spiders. The snake suspected that hags were in control of the... creatures. Was creature, an appropriate term for them? Didn't matter. She then went on to explain that the "spiders" disappeared when someone by the name of Glen had cast lumos. Xailah didn't really think much of it then, but that one small bit of information was incredibly important. The icy-eyed serpent shared that she had been attacked by one of the spiders, but had managed to escape being bitten. Her tale ended after that, as she was quick to point something out. Footprints.

The Slytherin was quick to call the elder lion out. She was right- the snake was right. Sort of. Their lives were far more important than some silly doll. Meenauhs life was more important. Xailah thought of herself as expendable, she hadn't mulled too much on what the doll could do to her friends, while it was in her care. There was a point in time where she believed that it was not a threat- that if it would come to hurt one person, that one person, would be its caretaker. And yet, here it was trying to flee, after a failed murder attempt on a friend. Selfish. It was selfish of her to have kept the doll for as long as she did, without fully considering the consequences that could be placed upon others. And it was selfish to insist on keeping it- to insist on letting it live.

Meenauh would stoop to pick up something, that was nestled in the dark grass. It was the doll. Xailah shifted quickly, as if contemplating to take it from the girl- not to prevent its destruction, but to prevent further harm to Meenauh. Meenauh looked to be fine though. The doll did not move, it didn't even attempt to flee, or fight back. Was it aware of the fact that it was going to die? That it was supposed to die? Mayhaps it wasn't really alive then. Not in the way Xailah understood anyways. The Slytherin acquaintance would ready her wand, but no further moves would be made, as it would seem everyone understood what had, and what was going to be done. I'm sorry- is what Meenauh had said, as she let the bundle of burlap fall from her hand, and into the blue tendrils.

Meenauh had nothing to be sorry for. Xailah shoved her hands into her pockets, and peered downwards. She was quite frankly, confused, as to what she was supposed to feel. She wasn't particularly distraught on the destruction of the doll- despite having nurtured it for nine months- it hurt a little, yes, but she wasn't completely crushed. Should she have felt distraught? Conflicted, she turned away from the crackling firepit.

Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....

It was becoming colder. The jacket was providing enough warmth, but still, it seemed to be the proper time to start heading towards their tent. She kept the wand at the thigh in case she'd need the Hot-Air Charm to keep her warm.

Meenauh didn't look at the burning doll. Somehow it would have been painful to watch. As if she was burning her friend, but truly she was burning down her enemy. For good. Instead, she'd turn around to watch Xailah hiding her hands in her pockets (an unusual behaviour) and turn away from the fire. Couldn't be blamed for.

She'd make a few steps towards her friend and tried to be compassionate: "We had to do it, darling. If it's the living one, we could be doomed," she said and hugged her pocket-handed friend, "I don't think there's anything else we could do."

If only Meenauh was smart, she'd think of consequences and would make sure what she had done was indeed finished. Because such matters couldn't be treated negligently. But a child couldn't possibly be able to think through everything at all times. Mistakes had to be made, even crucial ones. Even deadly ones.

"Thank you very much, Santario," she addressed the girl, "May I give it back later?" she pointed at the jacket, "I think we'll head towards the tents now." She'd calmly give it if Santario would like to keep it.

She would silently take Xailah's hand and would leave the scene, giving the last moment glance at the professor and the fire. Somehow all the people around the fire were ignored for the sake of keeping sanity. She'd need sanity. A lot of it.
Leaving the thread with Xailah.
